I’m a big fan of second chances, even sometimes a good third chance, however this place has burned their chances with me right up! The first time I went into Dellanno’s on a Saturday around 11:30am, note that they open at 11:00am, after a few minutes of waiting for any worker presence I was greeted and immediately told they had arrived late to work and couldn’t help me but I could come back later. I did not return that day but did go back about a week and a half later after calling in a pick up order. When I arrived at Dellanno’s saying they were clueless would have been an understatement. They didn’t have my name nor my order; I left without reordering the food. The third time I decided to try a call in a take out order once more; I ordered the Boardwalk Sausage Sandwich, a sausage sandwich with cheese, peppers, onions, potatoes, sauce and a side of chips. I requested no onions or potatoes but extra sauce. Thankfully I arrived and my food was prepared and ready for me to take home! I got home to a cut up piece of sausage on bread. No toppings, no sauce, no chips on the side. Unfortunately, I was not surprised but called Dellanno’s for clarification. When they answered the level of disinterest in my dissatisfaction was immediately sensed. There was no offer to correct the order nor consideration to even apologize. There are plenty of places to grab a slice of pizza or good Italian sandwich, save yourself some time and frustration and avoid this place!! They clearly won’t be disappointed to not have the business by the experiences that I’ve had.

Fusion Diner and Cakery – Menu with Prices – 3600 Court St, Syracuse

The good – Servers were attentive and courteous, prices fair. The bad – The menu selection is mundane, much the same as a dozen other diners. Certainly not the variety or quality offered by the Good Life Diner that previously occuppied this space. My wife’s sandwich featured somewhat stale bread, slathered with a dressing that she had requested to be on the side. Oh well, mistakes happen. She refused to have the oversight corrected as she is not prone to complaining. However, she did not enjoy her lunch and took half home to try to repair it later. As for my order, I would caution anyone to ask lots of questions. It is my own fault I assumed a sausage sandwich with peppers and onions would be similar to the classic found at the State Fair or countless other restaurants. My sandwich featured sliced sausage, peps and onions in a red sauce, covered in cheese. I wish the sauce and cheese had been mentioned in the menu description. I don ‘t care for red sauce and didn’t want cheese, but chose to not complain since, at this point, we just wanted to leave, and had no time to request a new order or debate why this item was not as expected. I believe a menu should be accurate. Tell me what I’m getting. How is one to know which questions to ask? I took half home, although I’m not sure what to do with it. All in all, we will not be going back to Fusion.

La Pizzeria Metro – Menu with Prices – 3101 Miller Rd, Wilmington

Pizzeria Metro is an awesome addition to an area that is otherwise a little sparse in terms of food options. There is plenty of parking and you can opt to dine-in or carry out (or, “carry over to Wilmington Brew Works” because what goes better with pizza than beer?). We arrived around 7:30 PM on a Saturday and were quickly greeted. We decided to eat in because we weren’t sure if we’d be able to find a table at WBW and they were able to seat us right away. Our server (I believe her name was Nealanni) was sweet and attentive. They have a great selection of beers, wines, and a cocktail menu if you choose to eat in— you can’t carry the alcohol between buildings. We split the Quaker Hill (sausage, peppers, onions, ricotta, pesto, AND tomato sauce) and the Wawaset Park (chicken sausage, cherry tomatoes, onions), both of which were delicious and completely consumed between four of us. Each pizza was $14, which is completely reasonable for the quality of the toppings and the tastiness. Looking forward to my next visit, and will have to consider branching out from the pizza judging by the other reviews — it’s just hard when the pizza is so delicious!

Ninho De Portugal – Menu with Prices – 920 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg

I’ve been on a bifana spree this week…next stop Ninho De Portugal on Sherbrook. This is indeed a hidden gem as I almost missed this place when I was on the hunt for some Portuguese grocery items a while ago. It’s on a quiet and maybe not so great section of Sherbrook Street between William Ave and Logan. The signage isn’t very noticeable as it’s located in a warehouse type building. This is a small no frills Portuguese grocery store that happens to sell some ready to eat food in the back. I’ve shopped here before but I am not sure why I never sampled their sandwiches until recently. All I can say is that “WOW!” The bifana (pork sandwich) is $3.35 – you get a ridiculously large sandwich. I mean other than convenience as I don’t work or live anywhere near here, I would totally get my lunch from here every week. The homemade bun is absolutely delicious, a little crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy inside. The sandwich is is filled with a few large pieces of pork cutlets, tons of cooked onions and lots of hot sauce. The onions and hot sauce are optional but you should get it – it totally makes the sandwich. The hot sauce had a good kick to it and adds a ton of flavour. I am drooling as I write this… oh and a side note, don’t eat this in the car like I tried to as it can get messy. They also sell a cheese sandwich and a paio and cheese sandwich – both were around $3. They also serve up a daily soup and the most delicious roasted potatoes that seemed really inexpensive. I got about 5 pieces of roasted potatoes for $0.84. Very flavourful potatoes, it might be a bit salty for some but I really liked them. Service was prompt. No place to sit down so it’s all take out! All I can say it’s – great flavours, huge portions and easy on the wallet! Less than $5 lunch and you are full! Love, love, love. Open Tues-Fri 8:30am to 6:00 pm. Sat 7:30 am – 5:30 pm. Closed Sun & Mon.

wicked links – Menu with Prices – 3200 Gresham Lake Rd, Raleigh

Did I think I would find an extremely tasty Italian sausage sandwich outside of Lowe’s Home Improvement? Nope! We were stopping by Lowe’s to grab a few things for the house and had not yet grabbed lunch. There was a food cart near the entrance of the store called Wicked Links and their menu noted various different sausage sandwiches and hot dogs. They smelled so good! As we approached the cart, we saw people walking away with sandwiches and they looked pretty good. We decided to give it a try. I ordered the Italian sausage sandwich with peppers and onions and my fiance ordered the brotwurst. The sausages were hot off of the grill, the bread was a little toasty, and the veggies were yummy. I was so impressed with the quality and taste of the sandwich. The prices are decent and the employee working the cart was very friendly, as well. Not a bad lunch for a home improvement trip to Lowe’s!

La Playa Seafood Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 7446 Alameda Ave, El Paso

El paso are you looking for the most bang for your buck? Then look no further than going to LaPlaya seafood in the lower valley. The staff is very friendly and our waitress recomended the lunch special which has something for everyone. As soon as we’re seated homemade chips and salsa arrived, the red salsa is tasty and the green salsa had some kick but just the right amount of kick.Soup of the day was lentil soup and it was very filling and full of flavor among the lentils are finely chopped celery, onions, tomatoes and garnished with fresh cilantro hot fresh and very comforting. After that my Filet Veracruz arrived and boy they did not skip on anything with a side of rice, salad, and mashed potatoes it was definitely a plateful. The filet was covered oin a rich tomato sauce with carrots and green olives the fish was cooked to perfection. When dessert arrived I was stuffed but managed to eat my peaches. Now this is truly a great deal all this for $6.99 so you get great service , clean tables abd really great staff I will be back and can’t wait to try another dish.

Carla’s Cafe Menu with Prices 9809 S Union Ave, Bakersfield

Another great breakfast! When we arrived on Saturday just after 8am, there was exactly one empty table. We grabbed it & waited for it to be cleaned. Our server was very nice, although very busy. I ordered a biscuit & gravy, two eggs scrambled with cheese, and avocado. It was perfect! The gravy was sausage-y, although it didn’t have a lot of chunky meat in it. The biscuit was soft and fell apart in the gravy. They were generous with the cheese and avo. I did note that after about 5 minutes, the dish had turned cold, so I finished it that way. It was still good. My wife had a pancake with a side of potatoes and fruit. The potatoes were nice & crunchy, but she would have liked more flavor, maybe the addition of onions or peppers. The fruit was bananas, pears, and apples, and they were all fresh and perfectly ripe. She loved that! My son had the Full Hot Mess, a plate of biscuits and gravy with hash browns and a sausage patty. He ordered the patty spicy, and really liked that. He would have preferred the hash browns on the side, but overall he said it was an 8 out of 10 breakfast. They have exactly one bathroom stall for everyone. My wife stepped in to use it, and the previous occupant had peed all over everything. It was gross, although not Carla’s fault. We told Carla, and she was instantly in there cleaning it. This is indicative of Carla’s commitment to quality. We’ll be back!

Tin Can Cafe – Menu with Prices – 307 S Myrtle Ave, Clearwater

Living in the area, I’ve passed by this cafe dozens of times and thought it looked kind of interesting and always had a crowd inside. Today a friend and I ventured out For breakfast and I suggested we try the Tin Can café. The ambience has all of the Cozy kitschy aesthetic that is missing from most fast food chain restaurants. There aren’t a lot of tables but we grabbed a communal table next to an older couple that were enjoying their breakfast. They have quite a few “skillet” dishes and I decided to try one that had sour cream and salsa. The dish was topped with two eggs which were cooked beautifully and underneath were cheese chop meat onions Green peppers and potatoes. The salsa was straight out of a jar and didn’t have much taste and the skillet dish was tasty until I got halfway through and realized it was sitting in a puddle of grease. I was looking forward to some crispy potatoes but in fact they two were soggy because they were sitting in the grease. The coffee was passable and at least had half-and-half available on the table. My friend ordered eggs and Italian sausage with fried potatoes. Upon taking his first bite of sausage he immediately said they tasted greasy. I tasted a piece of the sausage and agreed that chopping the sausage into pieces and heating it up on a grill not only made them greasy but dried out the meat. His potatoes were also limp and greasy and didn’t have much crispness to them. The gal serving us was very sweet and accommodating and offered great service. I’m sorry to say I don’t think I’ll be returning.

The Hive Esports – Menu with Prices – 49 St Clair Ave W, Toronto

I had lunch today at Raiders E-Sports Centre. It’s a restaurant/bar catering to e-sports connaisseurs. I’m not into gaming but thought I’d check it out as it’s a restaurant I haven’t been to. I ordered a Diet Coke. It was basically brown-coloured water and no taste so I asked for a water instead. I ordered a Chicken Club Sandwich. I asked for mashed potatoes instead of French fries. When my meal arrived, there were mashed potatoes but they were smothered in gravy (which I hadn’t asked for). The mashed potatoes were okay but cold and the gravy was lukewarm. The bread on the sandwich was barely toasted and there was no mayo. When I asked my server for a side of mayo and told her there was none on the sandwich, she seemed surprised that I want it. She brought me a small container of mayo. It looked and tasted funny so I used the excess gravy to make the sandwich less dry instead. I also had to ask for pepper and salt (there were none on the tables). When my bill came, I saw that I’d been charged $2 for swapping fries for mashed potatoes but I hadn’t been told there’d be a surcharge … the potatoes weren’t worth the extra $2. Though my server was pleasant, she seemed to be new, like it was her first day on the job. I won’t be back.

The Crum Box Gastgarden – Menu with Prices – 602 Industrial Dr, Tallahassee

My favorite place for a bite during a night out in Railroad Square! Although humble in appearance, Crum Box Gastgarden serves up some of the best food in Tallahassee! They’re the epitome for me of a “hidden gem”, tucked away in Railroad Square in an unassuming old railroad caboose, but step inside and order for a big surprise! Their homemade sausage packs a flavorful punch, especially if you spice things up with their jalapeno sausage. Their regular sausage is always a charmer, but the spicy jalapeno is the real winner for me. The meatball sub is also a favorite a mine, layered in cheese and with homemade meatballs and marinara sauce. Typically, I add in their mac & cheese and sauteed onions or sauerkraut as my sides/toppings on the sausage, but there are a few others if those aren’t your thing. The owner Pete is always friendly and great to chat with while things are cooking. Whether you like it spicy or mild, they consistently put out delicious food. I could not recommend this place more for a night out in Railroad Square!

The Pumping Company – Menu with Prices – 1463 W Leland Ave, Chicago

This is the sister delivery company of Chicago Grilled Cheese and Mac Factory. Ordered take out and it was fast. Placed order online at 5:35 pm and the guy was at our door at 5:55 pm. Order the following: Pulled Pork Sandwich with French Fries for Dr M – pork was really good, nice and tender. Good BBQ flavor, wasn’t swimming in sauce (which I hate). Nice size sandwich…bun was toasted. Fries were hot and seasoned. Pot Roast (Dinner) for the Heiress Apparent – this was a big entree. Lots of potatoes and gravy on the bottom and a big pile of meat on top. Again the meat was tender and potatoes were good. I am bias when it comes to potatoes, so you really have to f*ck them up for me to not like them. She also got a Cookie Skillet with ice cream. Cookie came in a separate container and was warm with a side of chocolate sauce. Ice cream was in a separate container. Standard dessert. Steak Wrap with mashed potatoes and gravy – I got this. Veggies were fresh but not a lot of meat in the wrap. It was light and had a good flavor, but I would not order this again. Overall this was a solid performance and I would definitely order from them again. I will consider upgrading the review once I try something else.

Via Sofia’s – 1st Ave – Menu with Prices – 1125 1st Ave SE, Cedar Rapids

I tried to have supper there tonight in Cedar Falls. Ordered the Italian Sausage sandwich (hot) and a side salad. It was moderately busy & not been open too many days, I have no clue when it opened. I’m just hungry & will eat most anything, but am a gourmet cook. Let’s just say I was not impressed. It was a 1/2 lb. link sausage laying in a heavy pool of marinara sauce on a fresh white bun, smothered with Mozzarella cheese & baked. The sauce made the bread a watery mess & the sausage had the texture of Chorizo (Mexican sausage.) The amount of sauce made closing the bun & picking it up impossible so I proceeded to use knife & fork but the bread was soaked & falling apart. The side salad was fair, but the lettuces had not been well drained & so after adding the ranch dressing it was a wilted & floating mess in the bottom of the bowl. When staff came around to ask how the food was, I shared my true feelings, she literally ran for a manager & he offered a replacement or refund. I sent it with him & asked for refund. When I got to the counter he said I’d eaten 1/2 & would refund 1/2 my sandwich price. Reminded him I was asked that far into my meal & chose to give it up, he supposedly will refund full sandwich price; I’ll see how this goes. You can check my dining reviews on Yelp! I seldom grumble @ food! I’m starving for 2 hours already since 8:30 pm & I only had a side salad & 1/2 my entree. Think I’ll have to do a drive through my refrigerator,
