I’ve been here a couple of times to hear some live music. While I am not a fan of paying covers, I understand part of the cover does go to the musicians. And it’s Tigerland, so I guess the college kids are used to paying covers. I love the artwork around the building – if you have not come here for the music, coming to see the walls is reason enough to come. Stunning and room for more of the “dead poets” to come. Staff was friendly, but on my first visit, the bar was out of at least four things I tried to order. I settled for a beer i drink more often. Seating was pretty limited, but i think it would have been better had a photo shoot not been taking over the entire top level. None of the locks in the bathroom worked, but there wasn’t high traffic on this night. The sound system went out a couple of times while the band was on stage, but it was a really easy-going crowd and band, so it was all good. I’ll be selective in my nights to return to to Dead Poets, but it’s a pretty good venue if you want to trek out to the LSU area.

Forte Jazz Lounge – Menu with Prices – 477 King St #475, Charleston

I looked online for live jazz in Charleston and came across this gem! I knew it was recently opened but didn’t know their soft opening was only 3 days old! They currently only serve craft beer and a few wines and hopefully this will expand as they flourish. The concessions were limited to chips and water from what I could see. The chips could get loud for those who don’t know how to chew properly â?. The decor is nice in blues on the walls and even the floor. They have a small art gallery as you go into the room where the live music is. Inside the live music room is where that beautiful mural is that is posted online. It’s even more amazing in person as you get to see the shimmer and bling the student artists of Charleston School of the Arts included in the design. The seating has various levels in price. The couches, which are closest to the stage are the more expensive, then the next level of seating is the tables, followed by general admission seating, which includes tables lined along the wall behind each other. If you plan to purchase the general admission seats and you’re with your partner or date, just know you won’t be sitting next to each other but behind each other. Saturday we arrived about 7:40 to hear Rochelle Whitley Green. She was good as well as the band (piano, Richard Wright, Jr, bass, Roman Picar, & drums, Mary, forgot her last name) who was with her. I think at times the bass player seemed to struggle to keep up as he read the music but otherwise the show was good. They performed many standards and she even danced during the show. There is room to dance up front near the stage and behind the seating area. She will be performing again the end of the month. The owner’s big band will be performing for the grand opening weekend September 5th. I look forward to supporting them each time I’m in Charleston and hope they do well.

The Foundry Menu with Prices 295 E Dougherty St, Athens

This is a small music venue. I go for the music. Skip the food. Menu selections are limited, poorly executed and pricey. Eat before you go. It is really a shame. You can book tables to guarantee seating for a show, but the fried pickles are probably the best thing on the menu. Don’t expect napkins if you order wings and tacos. Bartenders are wonderful. Be wary of the times that the Foundry posts on their own websites for the start time of shows. Twice in four months they changed the time on their own page while patrons sat at their tables. Really? An hour of trivia postpones the start of a film? On another occasion, band members were set up and waiting when the schedule was pushed back. Provide better food instead if making us feel stranded in an airport waiting for delayed flights. I enjoyed my meals there when it was The Melting Point. Go for the music.Go for the music.

Harpo’s Lounge Menu with Prices 2864 Deans Bridge Rd, Augusta

I have been here a few times since they have been opened. I mostly come on Fridays when the band, ATL DreamVision, is here. They are a pretty good band and showcase their talents all across the town. When the band is not here there is a Old School night going on. The music is Old School R&B and the drinks are pretty cheap. They are good when there is a good bartender. The lady bartender sucks!!! I don’t even know why they even hired her or pay her because she didn’t even know how to make a Shirley Temple, and that’s a pretty basic drink!!! The bathrooms are really nice here too. I like that they have a door to each stall in the bathroom for added privacy. This club hasn’t been opened but for a few months so they are still trying to gain a crowd. Before this club there was another club here and there was a fatal altercation which forced them to close and this business came to be. I enjoy myself when I come here so I can see myself coming more often.

CIRCA KITCHEN COCKTAILS & LOUNGE – Menu with Prices – 11 W 9th St, Columbus

I went in this bar for the first time a few weeks ago to watch a friend of mines band play. So paying the $5 cover didn’t bother me seeing as though I knew it was paying the band. What did bother me is I had a waitress not even ask what I wanted to drink and instead just randomly come up to me at the bar and say “sorry only he knows how to make drinks.” Referring to the one bartender on duty. I would have been fine with a beer but wasn’t even acknowledged again for another 20-30 min by that one male bartender who I later found out is the owner of the bar. Not only after finally taking our order he then skipped us and made some other people drinks. I told him to forget it and left. There was no apology only a “ah come on stay” I will not be returning to this place ever again. To be on the complete end of Broadway where there are no other bars you would think service would be a little better to draw a crowd…. Especially from the owner himself.

Buffalo’s Mohawk Place – Menu with Prices – 47 E Mohawk St, Buffalo

Probably a top music venue in downtown Buffalo, right up there with Nietzsche’s! My friends play in a band (The CPX, if you’ve heard of them) and while they only play a couple of times a year, I’d say about half of the time they can be found under the Mohawk Place roof. And, since it’s a golden rule to never miss a CPX show, safe to say I’ve been here a few times! MP is very divey, with old walls and ceilings, string lights, framed photos, borderline tacky decor. But I never feel uncomfortable when I’m in here (I always go with friends though), the bathrooms are fairly clean, and the music is always well-supported. They’ve got a pretty great sound system here, an awesome stage toward the back, and plenty of room to fill in front of the stage, so what more could you ask for? I don’t drink when I’m out seeing live music, but I’ve noticed they serve canned beers here like Bud and PBR, and they have their usual alcohol mixers. Being a non-drinker, my favorite thing about this place is that they have an orange water cooler on the bar with plastic cups, as a self-serve cooler so I don’t have to keep asking the bartender to fill up a cup of water for me. Bonus points! Looking forward to the next visit here for sure.

Solid Grounds Coffee House Menu with Prices 4601-4699 Juan Tabo Blvd NE, Albuquerque

Solid Grounds Coffee House is an outreach ministry of St. Steven’s Methodist Church. Every Saturday night the doors open at 6:30 and the band starts at 7pm and plays 2 sets ending at 9pm…encores highly discouraged. There is a different band each week, a few are local, but artists drop in from all over with the Austin music scene being especially well represented. When there are 5 Saturdays in a month, one will be an open-mic night. This venue operates on a donation basis, so bring some cash to drop in the box. While good live music is the point, it is still a church. Few of the bands have a religious focus, but they will be sure to feature a Jesus tune if they have one. You can expect a 10 minute or so overtly religious message before the second set. The location is the lower level (basement with outside access) on the north side of the building.

Frets & Friends – Menu with Prices – 2105 University Ave, Green Bay

This is a small, dive bar that is always bringing some decent local music. They have a good selection of craft beers, as the owner also owns Ned Kelly’s, and they know their beer. You can also get some pretty cheap beer like $3 tall boys of Hamm’s! The stage is perfect for a four or five piece band. I’ve seen a variety of genres like rock, country and bluegrass bands and usually will enjoy the music. There’s plenty of seating through out the bar. I think that kind of hurts them when having concerts as people tend to just sit and not go up near the bands to dance and enjoy the music. Check out this bar if you’re ever in the mood for music on the weekends.

Grant’s Lounge – Menu with Prices – 576 Poplar St, Macon

I had so much fun at this place. The live band and singers from the audience were amazing! I got to take a photo and dance onstage with the host Johnny Hollingshed Jr. It was a great experience! I was in awe the entire night! I will go back to this historical landmark in music in Macon GA. We have the beginning of R&B, Soul, Rock & Roll, James Brown, Otis Redding, Little Richard and the Allman Brothers.

Brokedown Palace – Menu with Prices – 8805 Maple St #6125, Omaha

Where have you been all my life…or at least as long as I have been in Omaha. So this bar really checks my boxes. Dive bar – Check Grateful Dead themed – Check!! Greeted by a dog when we walked in – Check Jam Bands on the Jukebox – Check! So sure this is just a bar tucked away at the end of a non-descript strip mall and sure it’s not fancy, but Grateful Dead and Nebraska anything usually don’t go hand in hand, so this was a great surprise to find and then check out. The drinks were strong, the atmosphere chill, the music was great, the people friendly and hell there were a couple dogs roaming around when we were there. That’s pretty much a perfect evening.

Six Springs Tavern – Menu with Prices – 147 N Plano Rd, Richardson

Last night me and my husband went to hear live music. $15.00 cover for each of us. That would of been ok if the music was decent. The Nathan Perry Band was incredibly slow and horrible!! The second band, we listened to a half of the first song and left. The bartender asked what kind of tequila we wanted in the margarita, not letting us know it was going to be a $5.00 up charge for Jose AND the cost of the margarita. We paid $7.00 for a small solo cup of watered down sweet and sour. Needless to say….. we won’t be visiting again. I hope the other 16 people that were there had a better experience than we did.

Evolution Wonderlounge – Menu with Prices – 10220 103 St NW, Edmonton

My first time here was to watch Hedwig and the Angry Inch. It’s a rock and roll musical, featuring a fictional transgender East German character named Hedwig. I’ve seen this show a couple of times in the past. I was excited to hear that it would be playing here. I wasn’t sure how the seating worked in this venue. Luckily, I arrived 45 minutes early. There were a few seats at the front reserved for VIPs (people who paid more for their tickets). The rest of the seats were general seating (first come, first serve). There was a limited number of seats. People who arrived later had to stand in the back. There was a bar service before the show. I didn’t see anyone eating any food. Just drinks. They stopped serving drinks during the show. The washroom was nearby and was gender neutral. Overall, the show was well done! It was everything I expected. The sound quality was okay. I could hear clearly when the actors were speaking. However, it was a bit harder to understand when the characters we’re singing. I am very familiar with the songs, so I could still follow along. The band was amazing and the acting was on point! The costumes were also true to the characters of the story. This venue was perfect for this particular show because Hedwig and his band, the Angry Inch, perform in bars. It’s reminded me of a dinner theatre show, where the actors (in character) mingle with the guests. The lines blur between reality and fantasy. It was fun to feel like part of the show! Overall, I had a fun experience here! I enjoyed the show! It was a wonderful opportunity to support our local artists!

Riley’s Pub – Menu with Prices – 6314 Yorktown Blvd suite 106, Corpus Christi

Bad service over all. Bartender was extremely rude and yelled at my friends if they needed help. Which was obvious they were talking away from the bar area and if they wanted a drink they would have walked up. Tried to talk to the manager and he ignored me and blamed it on the band because it was noisy which she came and interrupted me. My two friends did not want a drink after that. It was not a friendly way of asking it was more of a frustrated way and her hating her job. The owner ignored me when talking to him and then I realized they are a couple so of course he didnâ??t even care what I had to say. Then whatâ??s more pathetic is the owner and his gf bartender I believe SARAH began to argue in front of all the customers!!!. Never again. I went there to see a band not for the bar. All we needed was an apology but we know they could careless for customer service. Snobby and self entitled energy.
