What can I say about Dae Gee? I can immediately say that the food was ok. If you’ve never been to a Korean BBQ, this is the commercialized, main stream attempt at Korean BBQ. We stopped in with a few friends from work. Two of the people didn’t prefer Korean food, but went along to be good sports. When we ordered, those two wanted simple dishes from the menu while the other two wanted to do the buffet option and wanted to grill their own meat. The server informed the table that the whole table has to order the buffet if one person does. Although I understand the premise that they can’t tell if people share, it was an interesting way to jack up the price of the visit for the two none Korean food interested people in our party. One person in our group literally paid $20 and ate three little pieces of chicken and a small portion of house salad. Way too much money for way too little food. In short, the food is decent, the atmosphere is fun, but the prices and rules are not always favorable.

Fang Gourmet Tea – Menu with Prices – 135-25 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing

The quality of their tea is their saving grace, and the only reason I gave two stars instead of one. My friends and I stopped here to try some of their tea (this place provides a tea-tasting service to let you try before you buy.) Normally, I appreciate services like this, and to be fair, they do give you more than just one sip during the testing. They give you 5-7 little cups (about 2-3 mouthfuls), showing you the different flavors as the tea is steeped and resteeped multiple times. Their teas are good quality, and it shows during the tasting. But these people totally rip you off due to how payment for the tea tasting service is set up. They charge per tea, per person. So, if you have a group of four people, and Person A wishes to try an Oolong for $10, that person will pay $10. That’s fine. But what isn’t fine is if Person A would like to share the tea that they paid for with the other three people, those other three now have to pay not for their own set of tea, but for the same amount of tea already provided to Person A. So, if Person B from the group takes so much as a sip from Person A’s Oolong, they now owe $10 as well. It’s the SAME AMOUNT OF TEA. They do not make extra tea for Person B. They do not get their own set of tea leaves. They are now paying $20 for the exact same amount of tea as before, using the same tea leaves. If all 4 people wanted to try that same Oolong, it would be $40 total, but the shop is still only spending the same amount of resources as they would for 1 person. And, to top it off, the guy steeping the tea sits with you and he drinks the extra tea. Instead of allowing Person A to share the leftover tea with B, C and D, the guy steeping the tea drinks the extra tea himself. That $10 was for the tea. It should be mine to do with as I please, and I do NOT want to pay for him to drink the leftover tea himself. I will not be coming back to this place. It’s a shame, because their tea really is quite good, but their business model is shit. Oh well. There are other places that sell quality tea.

5 Star Korean BBQ – Menu with Prices – 605 E Washington Ave, Madison

The manager of the establishment accommodated a large group of 16 people for a farewell party. Some grilled food on the table and a good number also ordered from the kitchen. I wanted The grilling experience as our friends from Korea highly recommended it. It was fun to do but I have always been a fan of the marinade for Korean bulgogi BBQ. The grilled meat was rather plane without seasoning. But that is tradition. There were sauces to dip into.

Casino Nights of Tulsa – Menu with Prices – By appointment only, 5635 S Mingo Rd unit O, Tulsa

The dealers went above and beyond. They made the night perfect. We had a couples shower and this group made the night. Several people wanted the number so they could use them for a party. The craps dealer explained the game to some people and the black jack dealers were very kind and considerate. They arrive on time and set up and took down in a professional way.

THE STATION DINNER THEATRE – Menu with Prices – 4940 Peach St, Erie

The time on the advertisement was 7pm-10pm and we didn’t get out until 11. We saw Canterbury which was fun. The waiter/waitress was part of the play. Some were better than others. We had to eat the food with our hands (soup/bread/whole chicken). After spending $200 for a party of 5 we had to pay extra for drinks which only comes in pitchers. So everyone at the table had to agree or you got several different types, which we did. There was a notecard on the table that reminds you the actors only get paid off tips. We had to share a table with another family. I told the actor it was my mother in laws’s birthday and he was very uncaring. For $40 per person you definitely get what you pay for. Okay food and ok entertainment.

The Place Bar & Lounge – Menu with Prices – 269 Norman Ave, Brooklyn

I want to give this place ZERO stars! We have used The Place party room since wayyyyyy before it became The Place. In recent years they have improved in appearance but declined in customer service. My niece’s baby shower was this past Sunday, October 1st. My sister paid her deposit well over a month ago and a contract was signed for the room which can accommodate roughly 130 people. Imagine my sister’s surprise when she walks in to The Place the morning of my niece’s baby shower to decorate and sees that ONE THIRD of the room has been taken over by a STAGE!!! A stage with band equipment that cannot be removed because “it’s worth over $60,000”. And to make matters worse, one quarter of the space that was left was blocked off as a storage area!!! We were expecting at least one hundred people!!!! We had a dj to accommodate, food, a cake table, drinks etc! How on earth were we going to do all of that in this tiny space?!?! I suggested that my sister speak to the owner as I felt he should reduce the price because she was deceived. They never informed her of the reduction of space. She found out the day of! Her option to cancel or relocate was taken away at that point. Upon speaking to him, she was informed that the Place had been sold and that was what the new owner wanted!! Seriously?!!! His idea of a solution?!? Reduce the price by $50!!! $50?!! It’s bad enough that they charge $150 per hour PLUS a service fee for somebody to “babysit” your party and do not give you anything other than ice. (Other places in the neighborhood include soda and the option for a keg or use of their full clean kitchen) My sister had no choice but to accept it as the party was only 2 hours away. All the money that we paid out for the party would’ve been lost. It was hot and obscenely crowded. People were literally sitting on top of each other or sitting outside simply because everyone was unable to fit comfortably! People, if you’re looking for a party room…..RUN AWAY from this shithole. The “owner” sucks, his staff sucks (except for the gentleman who cleans) and their bathrooms (with one working stall) smell and look horrible! WE WILL NEVER USE THE PLACE FOR A PARTY AGAIN! And I will be sure to tell all of my friends to avoid this place too!!!

Mix Restaurant Menu with Prices 777 W Convention Way, Anaheim

We recently spent 4 nights at the Anaheim Hilton and on our last day there, decided to hit the hotel restaurant for breakfast so we could head right out to the airport afterwards. We asked at the hostess stand if it was a buffet or menu service. They said it was both. This made me happy since all I wanted was some oatmeal and fruit. Immediately we were asked what we’d like to drink. My husband selected coffee and orange juice, I asked for hot tea, our 10 yr old had apple juice. Then our waiter came by to take our order. I ordered my oatmeal w/fruit compote and a fresh fruit plate for us all to share. My husband then attempted to order an egg plate, and our daughter just wanted pancakes. Our waiter, Jhose, wasn’t having it. He kept interrupting us as we ordered, saying we should just get the buffet. The buffet was $28/pp and I knew my daughter and I would not eat enough to make that worthwhile! But he insisted, and when we mentioned the price, he said it would actually only be $15/pp, so cheaper to do the buffet than order everything separately. I was skeptical, so he basically dragged me over to the buffet to show me all the options. It was awkward, but since he insisted it would be cheaper for us this way, I reluctantly agreed to it. Only on my actual visit to the buffet did I see that, while they did have oatmeal, the accompanying berry/apple compote from the menu was not on the buffet. When I approached the fruit table, it was a sad selection of melon and pineapple, with some whole bananas available in a basket nearby – not the fresh berries I’d seen at other tables. I went back to our table while my husband took our daughter up to get pancakes. Guess what? NO pancakes on buffet! “They are coming” he was told. So sent her back to the table and got an omelet started for himself. Meanwhile I overheard the table next to us arguing with the waiter about being overcharged and “bait and switch” was specifically mentioned. Uh oh. I told my husband to look at the bill carefully before we leave… My daughter finally got her pancakes after about 15 minutes of waiting. My husband’s omelet was fine. But then we get the bill – and yep, we’re being charged $28/pp. My husband points out the error and Jhose starts back peddling and saying he never told us it would be $15/pp. So rather than arguing with him, we told the manager on the way out, and then complained at hotel checkout as well. The charges were eventually reversed, so it all ended well, but regardless it seemed like a hustle. Like individual menu orders were too much of a hassle for them, so they were told to push the buffet, where the quality of the food was less, it requires less service from employees, and they make a bigger profit.

Nadia’s Cafe – Menu with Prices – 127 Broadway, Kissimmee

Went to Nadias on Wednesday afternoon for lunch. There was a pretty decent amount of people, but we were well tended to. We were a table of 5 and our orders were quickly taken however 3 people in my party ordered ginger ale, the waitress said there was only 2 left so attempted to substitute with something. The watered was tap, without any ice and was tepid. While 4 people in my party got there meals I waited an additional 10 minutes for mine which was just a gyro on a pita. A member of our party found hair in her vegetarian platter, which was unfortunate, but they quickly made the order again. I was not pleased with that, but the food was good and a decent price. I don’t think I would visit again though.

North Hill on Garland – Menu with Prices – 706 W Garland Ave Ste B, Spokane

As I read other reviews, I am wondering if I visited on just a bad day. My first red flag that my visit wasn’t going to go well was that as I waited for the rest of my party to arrive, I was completely ignored. There was a table next to me with people who my server knew and I watched as she went over to their table time and time again and even ate off their plates. Still, I sat waiting even for water. After about 10 minutes, when the rest of my party started to arrive, my server finally stopped to ask what I wanted which was pretty interesting since I didn’t even have a food or drink menu either. I have to say that sitting inside was not a good idea since my friends and I were needing to have a discussion where we could hear each other so just FYI on that. I really wanted to like the food as well. I really did. My friend’s food arrived and it was not what she had ordered. She flagged down our server and asked if this was what she had ordered. The server said no, it wasn’t, they had run out of what my friend had ordered so they brought her this instead. She hadn’t even been asked! Adding to that, it was ice cold as was my flatbread and my other friend’s flatbread as well. It didn’t seem like everyone was firing on all cylinders at all. We felt in the way and we felt like a giant inconvenience (had to ask for the correct amount of napkins and utensils as well). Probably won’t be back which is sad because I love local businesses and really wanted to like this one.

Cho Won Buffet – Menu with Prices – 3635 Satellite Blvd NW, Duluth

Came here a few weekends ago when I was down in the area, visiting relatives. We came in a little before noon on a Saturday, and were seated right away. This place had mostly Korean parties dining in when we came in, though other non-Korean parties came in during the course of our time here. Why does that matter? I figure if a place is being frequented by people of that particular ethnic group, it must mean that the establishment has managed to satisfy the palates of that group. This place is known for their bbq, but since I’m a vegetarian, I opted for their other non-meat items, and there were a decent amount of things for even myself to choose from. They had a lot of veggie dishes, various banchans, even sushi, to choose from. The rest of my party ate their body weight in meat. I saw the little signs that said not to waste the meat, lest you get billed for what you didn’t eat, so they were aware of that, too. As for the actual non-meat items, I thought most of the items were pretty close to what either my mother or other relatives and/or family friends would serve for us if we were to come over and have a meal at their respective homes. Our bill also ended up being shockingly cheap, but then again, we came down from NYC, where all you can eat bbq places that had the variety of other dishes that they had here, are basically nonexistant. I really enjoyed my meal here, and thought it was pretty authentically Korean.

Michie Tavern ca. 1784 – Menu with Prices – 683 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville

This review is more for the 1784 Pub at Michie Tavern rather than the buffet. Although we had originally planned on eating at the buffet, it frankly did not look very good or worth $20/person. As others mention, the selection is very limited. When we got there it was about a half hour from closing and the food was low. It also did not look very appetizing. The BBQ pork looked more like soup. Everything else looked like standard buffet fare. I’m not a fried chicken person so can’t speak for that, but it also did not look great. One of the staff mentioned that the pub next door would begin serving food when the buffet closed, so we tried that. We were glad we did. Although it did not have regular meals, there was enough on the menu to fill us up. Bites included pigs in blankets, pretzel bites, BBQ pork sliders, Virginia ham and biscuits, potato wedges, and more. We had all of these and they were pretty good. The atmosphere is also quite historic. Although the total price wasn’t much lower than the buffet, the variety was better. I would recommend the Pub for a good place to stop late in the afternoon if you’re in the area and hungry. Buffet doesn’t look worth it or very good.

King Buffet – Menu with Prices – 204 E Hospitality Ln, San Bernardino

Today I had an appointment , after a asked for a good place to eat, King buffet was recommended to me. My first thought was if I walk in and it smells worse than my ass I will not eat here! Well I was surprised that it did not smell, I asked to see the buffet and it looked just ok, was going to leave but then the hostess told me that it was only $5.99 per person I thought to myself wow really? I decided to stay, went directly to the Mongolian beef and made a dish to my liking, the whole time I was thinking something is wrong here, is it old or second hand meat, maybe rotten veggies but I was totally impressed. Here are my thoughts for King Buffet, Mongolian beef section has good veggies and shaved beef and chicken, was ok, Egg rolls where surprisingly good, Broccoli beef was tasty, Orange chicken was good, Egg flour soup was ok, for desert had ice cream which was delicious, many to pick from, also had fresh fruit and almond cookies. So I gave King Buffet four stars because for $5.99 a person it is a really good price, If you are expecting PF Chengs quality this is not for you, just visit not expecting anything and I think you like it. Even if you like one thing, it was still a win!

730 Tavern, Kitchen & Patio – Menu with Prices – 730 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

This review is only for the breakfast buffet on Mother’s and the service we recieved. I literally only took a point off because the mozzarella sticks were not hot & gooey and they only had one meat option at the carving station. Also the omelettes that we ordered from the omelette station were a little dry (should have used an olive oil) and stingy on the cheese. We went this last Sunday for mother’s day and had a great time! This used to be the old Tavern in The Square location which had a Sunday breakfast buffet. Since no other restaurants have a traditional buffet anymore it’s nice to have these guys close by. We arrived as soon as it opened and were seated right away even without a reservation. Everyone was SUPER friendly and welcoming! The options were interesting and plentiful. Along the window there is plenty of fresh fruit, and many cakes, muffins and other Continental buffet choices, to the right of that was a carving station featuring roast pork – I don’t eat pork anymore but it was beautiful! Lol To the left of the dessert table there was a beautiful and fresh tomato, mozzarella and fresh basil salad display! This is one of my fav salads! They also had other green salad options. The hot bar featured a combo of breakfast and lunch options from Eggs Bennie and sausage to fried plaintains and grilled mixed veggies! I love the fact that there were a lot of vegetarian options! Even though I am not a vegetarian sometimes I just like a variety of fruits and veggies! The also had grilled pineapple! Yum! The mozzarella sticks were not hot and gooey, but they were tasty and breading was crunchy so it was a trade off. Lol. All in all, it’s a great place with lots of variety for only $17! Service was great too! I forget my servers name but she was super friendly and kind even though my family likes to linger after we paid the check! I added pictures but the pics don’t do it justice. Go visit for yourself.
