Visited Cypress & Grove Brewing Company on Saturday afternoon. Went with two Flights to try eight of the beers on the wall. Quality Cypress & Grove Brewing Company just felt boring to me. Each of their beers were fine, but in the golden age of beer innovation, creativity is key and I just did not see it. No funky names, no unique additives, and in the end nothing worth trying again. I ordered two Flights, the first with Pumpkin Ale, Dry Stout, Pecan Brown Ale, and 2×2 IPA and the second with American Wheat Ale, Hefeweizen, American Golden Ale, and Porter. My favorite was probably the American Wheat Ale, which balanced fruitiness and bitterness well. The Pecan Brown Ale was interesting as well, but in the end fell too much on the sweet side to be enjoyable in a larger pour. The rest were unremarkable with the Dry Stout being the only beer I truly did not like. Quantity Fair pours and an easy to transport holder for your Flight. Value Flights are $8 if you stick to the flagship beers or $10 if you select any seasonal or limited release beers. Ambiance Cypress & Grove Brewing Company is located in Gainesville. It occupies a relatively large factory building. It was a nice day so they pulled up the garage doors and let a breeze push through the space. For a beat up factory building, the immediate entrance is very nice. They have a beautiful bar front and center, which is surrounded by high-tops and tables. As you walk to the side of the bar, it quickly transforms into work space, with equipment and a musty feel. A few televisions can be found in odd places, but they were showing the top games. In the background alternative rock music played. What I did not understand is why they hadn’t utilized the outdoor space more. It seemed like a missed opportunity, though it may be related to permits. Crowd There was a small crowd of folks hanging out at the brewery. It seemed like a younger crowd, but that is not too surprising in a college town. Expect to see a lot of Gators gear and quite a few Greek letters. However, don’t expect to see any dogs, because they are quite adamant about the no pets policy. I even watched them escort a couple and their pup out. Service I had come to just hang out and enjoy some beers, but I still found myself frustrated with how slow this place operates. There were a few people working, but it only seemed like one was actually doing anything. Luckily it was not too busy, because I don’t know if they could handle a large crowd. Parking They have a very small parking lot, that was made even smaller by the presence of a food truck. Expect to park along the street if it is busy. Extra With todays beer culture even in a small town like Gainesville, expectations are high for each and every brewery. Unfortunately Cypress & Grove Brewing Company just did not hit the mark.

Moonlight Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 3350 Coffey Ln Suite A & D, Santa Rosa

Santa Rosa is a great place to live or visit if you love craft beer. The city is home to a large number of breweries, many of which have been around for only a short time. But there is one granddaddy in the bunch, and that brewery is Moonlight Brewing.I visited Moonlight Brewing in support of my beer blog, Great Beer Now. I had heard about the age of the brewery, which dates back about 25 years, and wondered what to expect. With that many years of experience, expectations are usually high, since the assumption is that years of experience equals better product, stronger quality control, etc.Moonlight Brewing, it turns out, does know a thing or two about great beer. I tried the beers that were on tap at the time and liked all of them, but I was particularly drawn to the dark lager. There are about six to eight beers available at any given time and the expertise certainly shows in each sip.Moonlight Brewing is located in a warehouse district and it features a small, front space where you can walk up to the bar and order your beer. The back area contains seats and it is situated right next to the brewhouse, for an intimate, industrial experience. This is a little different than most other breweries, but itâ??s also very non- pretentious and low key, two traits that most beer lovers will appreciate. With its appearance, Moonlight Brewing isnâ??t going to win any accolades for eye- pleasing aesthetics, but the beauty at Moonlight Brewing is in the beer and with more than a quarter- century of experience, Moonlight brewing has proven that they know a thing or two about production of quality brew. Check them out, and experience the difference that experience makes.

Wander Brewing Menu with Prices 1807 Dean Ave, Bellingham

Why has it taken me so long to find my way to Wander Brewing?! Heck if I know. Apparently, for the year that I’ve been here, my friends and acquaintances forgot to mention that it’s an awesome place. Wander Brewing feels like a real brewery. That may sound funny since it obviously is a brewery. What I mean is that it has a different feel than many other local breweries. The brew hall is located in a large historic downtown building. It offers many indoor and outdoor seating options. My taste buds have only just recently begun to mature enough to enjoy beer. I can’t recall which beers I had tried, but they were delicious. I’m transitioning from a “cider only” drinker to beer by way of sour beer. Wander has a few great sour beer options on tap. I very much appreciate Wander’s location. It’s nice not having to be right downtown. Sometimes I’m just not in the mood for the hustle and bustle. There is somewhat limited immediate parking. A large bike rack is available. Wander doesn’t have a kitchen, but a rotating schedule of food trucks provides food daily.

Larder of East End – Menu with Prices – 147 Julius St, Pittsburgh

Pittsburghâ??s beer scene is impressive and I was quite pleased with the different breweries I experienced when I visited the city in support of my Great Beer Now beer blog. Each had its own appeals and one of many memorable breweries I visited was East End Brewing. At East End Brewing, guests are treated to about 14 different beers on tap. I tried many of them and rated the Green Giant IPA and Rescueberry Shake, a milkshake IPA, as my three favorites. They put a good deal of effort into brewing the finest beer possible and the craftsmanship shows in every serving.East End Brewing features a large taproom with assorted seating, a pinball machine, and other extras. They have outdoor picnic tables for use when the weather is favorable and itâ??s common to find food trucks on site and itâ??s easy to find parking. Oh, and if you want beer to go, you can get a growler of draft beer or grab packaged beer from the fridge. They are kid and dog friendly, too. East End Brewing is a cool place to hang out and it once again proves something that is obvious when you visit: Pittsburghâ??s craft beer scene is on the rise, and it can now easily compete with some of the best beer cities in the nation. So be sure to swing by East End Brewing when you visit Pittsburgh. Youâ??ll be glad you did.

Hop Street Lounge – Menu with Prices – 7215 E 22nd St Suite 101, Tucson

The place is really nice and has a great vibe. I tried the beer flights but was not impressed by any of my choices. I chose all the sours, cider, fruit beer, and a few pale ales. I am not a big beer drinker so I thought my choices would be okay but I didn’t love any of them. Out of all my choices I liked the rose cider the most but still it wasn’t the best. I will be back to try the wine and some of the beers in the fridges they have. Its a really nice place but the beer flights just didn’t do it for me.

Badger State Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 990 Tony Canadeo Run, Green Bay

Badger State Brewing Company has been around since 2013, and already, they have taken up the number one spot for local breweries in the Green Bay area. When there are six total breweries in the immediate Green Bay area, two of them being historical institutions (Titletown Brewing and Hinterland Brewery) and the others relatively new up-and-comers, it’s important for Badger State to continue brewing exceptional beer. The Good: Several things immediately stand out at Badger State. First and foremost, the list of options. There are several standard options that Badger State offers year round, all varying in style and flavor. Where Badger State really shines are with their pilot series, limited release, and seasonal brews. To my knowledge, these are only available in the taproom, so in order to try out some of their best options, you’ll need to visit. They also have guest taps from other independent breweries, and several non-alcoholic options. Another great aspect of Badger State is the physical location. It is located a few blocks from Lambeau Field, so getting to and from the brewery is a breeze. The building itself is huge! There is a wonderful outdoor beer garden where they host a variety of live music, or just as a place to hang out in the nice weather (plus, dogs are welcome!). The taproom is a decent size with plenty of table seating and bar space. Down the hall from the tap room is a small gift shop, great for any beer lover in your life. Finally, there is the event space. I’m not sure on the exact numbers, but it is BIG and BEAUTIFUL. If you are looking for a wedding, conference, or fundraising venue, I would highly recommend you contact their staff and book the space. They are also large supporters of other local businesses and host a multitude of events throughout the year. The Bad: There is only one unfortunate issue I have with Badger State, but it is easily overlooked: Unlike a few other breweries in the area, they do not serve food. It’s incredibly annoying after having a few beers and finding yourself hungry. They serve giant pretzels in the tap room, but that’s it. HOWEVER, it is important to note, there are options. Badger State allows carry-ins for food, encourages folks to use delivery services, and (weather permitting) there is almost always some sort of food truck(s) out front waiting for hungry customers. As they don’t have to balance a restaurant and brewery, they can focus solely on brewing great beers (which they do). The Ugly: It is always great to see businesses succeed, and one measure of that is how busy the brewery is. Badger State has ample space for beer lovers, but the taproom and beer garden can fill up quickly. If you don’t like large crowds, I recommend avoiding Badger State on event days, or weekends as it gets loud and packed. Finally, I’m not sure how often this occurs, but when we went in for our brewery tour, there were quite a few small children in the tap room. I assumed that the tap room would be 21+, but it appears this is not necessarily the case.

Grape & Grains/ Shoeless Brewing Co. – Menu with Prices – 104 Mauldin Rd Ste. A, Greenville

Shoeless Brewing Company is a small seating area connected to the Grapes and Grains store for home brewing. They have a few tables, a bar, a sectional couch, and a dart board. It is decorated in bottles, coasters, and signage from a variety of breweries from all over. A TV lists the 10 or so beers on tap. We tried the Just Chai Me (Pumpkin Ale) and the Quyet Ryet (IPA.) Both we very good!! The Just Chai Me was so smooth, and the chai blended with the pumpkin very well. The workers were very friendly and explained their brew process and flavor profiles of their beer and even offered samples of beers we had questions about. Two cute pups wandered about. Overall, a chill place to stop to try some new brews!!

Earnest Brew Works – Menu with Prices – 4342 S Detroit Ave, Toledo

ANOTHER MICROBREWERY in Toledo! Gimme a HELL YEAH! No…seriously…give it to me now…NOW, I SAID! I don’t get down this way TOO often, but when I do, I try to stop at Earnest Brew Works. For pure variety, EBW is tops in town. There’s at least 18 beers available at any given time (assuming that nothing has sold out yet). Probably, their flagship brew is the “Crunchy Hippie Granola Brown Ale.” Not my fav, but it is popular around The Glass City. There’s usually 4 or 5 IPAs on tap at any given time. How are they? I’m an IPA rookie…you’d have to ask Summer D, next time she’s home. Depending upon the temperature, you can find me drinking (almost any friggin’ beer, but I really like) wheat beers and stouts/porters. Right now, EBW is offering Scotch Barrel Aged Orion the Hunter Black Imperial Wheat…awesome at 11.2 v/v EtOH! Talk about the best of both worlds! Food? How about popcorn? BUT, food trucks and Pizza Cat are often available. Then again, you didn’t come here to eat, did you? The first documented beer brewed in these lands was produced 432 years ago (although we’re pretty sure that the Indians brewed beer before this). That’s a long time. Keep the tradition alive! When you’re in South Toledo, have a beer at Earnest Brew Works! 5 stars!!

Hop Valley Brewing Co – Menu with Prices – 990 W 1st Ave, Eugene

My dad wanted to visit a brewery and try some beer samples while in Portland. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time, so we figured we’d find one that offers beer flights at a reasonable price. I browsed through the many breweries in Eugene, Oregon and came across Hop Valley. They seemed pretty legitimate (from the little I know about beer), and seeing how they make their own beers (in those giant machines?) this place was worth a shot. The brewery is actually relatively large with a ton of parking. We came during off hours on a weekday afternoon and there was a good amount of people. I like how they have an open window that allows you to see all the machinery. The workers were friendly and super helpful as they helped us get started and answered our absurd questions that my sister and I had. You can order flights in 6, 9, or 12 selections. They have a selection of beers on tap that they rotate out every so often. Since I am not a beer connoisseur by any means, their menu with a short blurb describing the beer really helped us out a lot. So we went with 9 beers to try. I believe the price was a dollar something for each one, making it a very affordable flight. Tried the vanilla infused porter, purple cole, bubble stash, mango stash, citrus mistress, hefe, hop valley blonde, reveal, and charmin’ swine. I have to admit that after trying every single sampler, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t like beer. And if I ever feel inclined to drink it, I’d prefer something that was sweeter and not so bitter. I think I enjoyed the lighter and fruitier beers. They all began to blend together and taste the same, but I think I really liked reveal and hefe. The beers were served in a cute leaf tray where there were numbers that corresponded to the numbers of the list that you wrote down for the beer. That way you can keep track of what you’ve tried. tl;dr – A good selection of beer and the flight is a great deal. Even though I don’t personally enjoy beer, I thought it was a nice way to end our Oregon trip.

Prosperity Brewers Menu with Prices 4160 NW 1st Ave #21, Boca Raton

Stopped at Prosperity Brewers on Saturday afternoon. Ordered two Flights of six to try all twelve beers they had on tap. Quality I hadn’t heard much about Prosperity Brewers before my visit, and that is a problem. One of the best breweries around and seeming to do it all under the radar. After doing a quick look at their beer list, it was an easy decision to just say I wanted to try them all. On this day that meant twelve beers, eleven Prosperity beers and one guest beer from Founders. They had their staples Clutch Plate IPA and Intra-Kolsch-Tal (Blonde Ale), as well as Imperial Stout, Pils-Not, Hef-A-U, Prosperity Winter Bock, The Consultant (West Coast IPA), Green Screen (Session IPA), Lost Blazer (Winter Warmer), Vets Day (Double IPA), and Treat Me Right (Hibiscus Gose). It was such a great collection, hitting on all fronts. My favorite, and I knew it would be, was Treat Me Right. It was their current single keg treatment beer, and you can tell the care and effort put into it. Perfect hints of lemon and well-balanced despite the tartness. I also loved Hef-A-U, which as someone who does not go for wheat beers was a surprise. And while those two were highlights, there was not a bad beer on the list. Considering the span of blonde to imperial stout they were serving up, that is no easy task. Quantity No qualms with the pours. Each beer I saw was more than fair, so the quantity is really up to you. Value A Flight of six cost $14, which is a solid deal. Drafts ran from $5-$9, which is also very reasonable. Ambiance Prosperity Brewers is located in a small industrial park in Boca. It took me two laps to figure out where I was going, and I only spotted it from the beer equipment I saw through a garage door. And while from outside it looks like it could be a cramped warehouse that serves beer, it was actually extremely nice. While on the small side, they maximized the space and put solid work in designing a comfortable place to relax. Everything revolves around the bar, but they have plenty of tables and even a lounge area. They also have a few televisions, but know that one is always dedicated to The Dude. In the background a classic rock favorites playlist, which I only assume The Eagles have been removed from. Crowd When I arrived it was just me and the bar, but slowly people began to straggle in. A few regulars said hello to the brewer and two couples decided to embark on the tasting route after seeing my line of beers. It has a laid-back vibe and definitely feels like a good afterwork spot. They are also extremely dog friendly, and on most days you will find their mascot hanging around. Service I was the first to arrive for the day, and was welcomed by one of the founders. Extremely friendly and personable he talked about what they have been doing and introduced me to the head brewer. The bartender working was also great and helped keep the tasting flowing at a good pace. Just good people making and serving great beers Parking Although they are not clearly marked, the spaces in front of their building are fine to park in. Extra It is rare that a brewery will sneak up on me, but Prosperity Brewers did just that. With great beer, a fantastic staff, and a fun space, it is a worth a trek north.

The Brew Market & Beer Garden – Menu with Prices – 1510 Riverside Dr, Chattanooga

I’ve been here a couple of times and it’s such a cool and unique place. Now I’m not a beer person, but I love the whole idea of this place. Someplace local that people who live here to be able to get the supplies and answers and help that they need to do some home brewing. They have outside patio seating and you can bring your dog. It’s a great place to hang out, try some unique beers (even a cider or two) on tap or in cans/bottles. I have enjoyed the patio myself and my dog loved being able to come too. I know they do classes too, so if you’re interested in dipping your toe into brewing your own beer, they can help. The staff are all super friendly and helpful and want to share their passion for small batch brewing. Give ’em a try.

Zack?s Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 712 Fulton St, Fresno

We heard about Zack’s Brewing on the Perfect Pour Podcast so we decided to check it out. The Brewery, the owners and the beer are all amazing!! The brewery is very comfortable and spacious. Kids and dogs are welcome. From the minute we walked in we were greeted by the sweetest Security Guard of all time!! Then, ordering was a relaxed, no rushed feeling. Owners Mr. And Mrs. Zack were incredibly friendly and helpful to point out beers that you might want to try. We had a flight of 4 beers and every one of them was delicious and flavorful. The IPA’s were spot on and there was a nice variety of beers we’d never heard of or tried before. My fave was Mr. Tumnus, a goat cheese brown ale. But everything we tried tasted unique and amazing. We were lucky enough to try their special beer Chocotaso, a chocolate coffee stout, like a rich desert in a beer glass. For Hazy fans, my husband really liked, It’s ok, Juicy. And for Sour beer lovers, Can Haz Razz, was refreshingly light and very tasty. Needless, to say, we loved everything about Zack’s and left with quite a few of their 8$ 16oz. Crowlers to take and share with fellow beer enthusiasts. We truly had such a memorable, fun evening. Honestly, a gem brewery in Fresno. We can’t wait til the next time we come through Fresno to visit again!!

Rupert’s Brew House – Menu with Prices – 773 W Michigan Ave, Kalamazoo

I walked in here only because it was next door to my hotel, and I am so very glad I did. This place is about as quirky as can be, but it’s also just as wonderful. The first thing I noticed was that the owner/brewer’s young son was playing Fortnight on the large screen above the bar, so this had to be something special.I believe I got at least a taste of every beer on the menu. While not everything was quite my cup of tea, they all were very good and very well crafted. The Boogie Brown (brown ale with a bit of coffee), Double High PA, and Dr. Steve’s IPAilment were the standouts. I even got a crowler of the Boogie Brown and Double High to take home.Once I saw the pizza, I got one of those to take back to the hotel, as well. Man, it was good! Get a pizza! The decor and ambiance is eclectic and fun, and it pretty much needs to be seen to understand.I also enjoyed chatting with the owner/brewer about beer and brewing.
