This is a small but cozy micro brewery with five current brews and several more in the works. We tried all but one while my husband conversed with the other vets and retirees. I personally tried the Golden Cross Kolsch and the Illuminated West Coast IPA. My husband had the Jester House Special Bitter and the Blood Red Rye with Maple Syrup. I actually liked them all. All were delicious and very drinkable and smooth going down. They don’t have food themselves but do have food trucks from time to time. None were there when we stopped by to check them out. The father of one of the owner brewmasters manned the bar. My husband, whose youngest son is also a brewmaster in Port Angeles, Washington enjoyed talking with him about their son’s careers in craft beer. They are even listed as being dog friendly. So next time you want to bond with man’s or woman’s best friend, drop in for a cold one and the free salty snacks they served with some great spicy brown mustard.

Tugboat Pete’s Hot Dog Stand – Menu with Prices – 421 Shoreline Village Dr, Long Beach

Came here with my family of 7 and the food was terrible, not to mention our order wasn’t right. My husband asked for a few additional napkins thru the side port hole window and the guy that appeared to maybe be the owner told him to go to the front. Thankfully another worker (a lady) handed them to my husband thru the port hole. My husband said “thank you” and then someone slammed the port hole window shut. It should be noted that they were calling names and orders out the port hole window so we figured we could get additional napkins. Since I’m giving a review, I’d also like to add that it was very unprofessional for another family (apparently friends of the workers) to go up to the port hole and order and not pay for their food and cut the line. We often take our boat down to Shoreline and won’t ever be eating there again.

Delroy’s Deli – Menu with Prices – 3305 Fyffe Ave, Stockton

Small diner located on the Port of Stockton property. Go to the west end of the Crosstown Freeway. Right on Fresno. Left on Washington. Follow it around to Navy Drive over the San Joaquin River. Check in with the guardhouse for the Port….the restaurant will be a block further on the right-hand side. Been open about one year. Delroy, the chef, was previously the cook for the defunct Commercial Exchange Club at the Port of Stockton and has now ventured out with his own deli. They are open Monday through Friday only… 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM. They specialize in Jamaican and American food. Barbecue, seafood, and soul food. They also have a few breakfast sandwiches that they serve till 10:30 AM. Barbecue on Thursdays and Fridays only. Their special of the day today was a jerk chicken sandwich on a Genova roll. I tasted the jerk chicken… It was a bit spicy for me. I ordered the pastrami sandwich meal which included chips and a soda. I also added a large cup of homemade split pea soup which was pretty good. I enjoyed talking with Delroy. Really friendly guy. They also do festivals, business catering and special events. I would probably not make a special trip to eat here but if I was in the area I would stop in again.

Central Depot – Menu with Prices – 103 W Depot Ave, Knoxville

The craft cocktail scene here in Knoxville is still somewhat on the rise. Not enough people are talking about it, due to how big craft beer is getting. Not that there’s anything wrong with craft beer. Lord knows I imbibe more than a fair share. Places like the Peter Kern Library, Oliver Royale, PostModern Spirits, and Central Depot are each doing their own take on elegant cocktails, and boy is it welcome. Central Depot is amazing in creating both delicious cocktails, and a somewhat local bar feel. When you’re there you really and truly feel like it is it’s own community. But if beer is more of your thing, they more than have you covered. Their tap wall is one of the best in town, serving up a plethora of locally brewed beer, and plenty of others from around the area. I love that they’ve partnered with Tako Taco, just up the road. If you need something to nosh on while enjoying libations, you can with quality food!

Cinnie Smiths – Menu with Prices – 3000 3000 East Grand Avenue, Des Moines

I love Craft beer, and Iowa has got it going on in that department! Last Saturday I nestled into the Iowa Craft Brew Fest, which is a yearly festival on the Court Ave Bridge! With over 40 Iowa Breweries/Brewers on hand to talk and taste beer it’s a beer drinkers dream come true! The Iowa Craft Beer Tent also shows up and other events around the state promoting Iowa Beer! I got to try some I have never tried before as well as sip on some of my local faves like 515, Confluence, Exile, Madhouse, and more! If you dig IPA, or something more along the style of a stout! The Iowa Craft Brew tent has it all and it’s all local! How cool is that!

Diablo & Sons Saloon Menu with Prices 246 N 8th St, Boise

Diablo & Sons had great service, a creative and delicious menu and a nice patio on 8th and Idaho. We would absolutely recommend enjoying your meal at Diablo & Sons. To elaborate further, our trip downtown for tacos somewhere on an outdoor patio began with a disappointing visit to another business located on the cor. ner of 8th and Bannock where the only two available outdoor tables hadn’t been either cleared or cleaned. When we asked the server if he would be willing to wipe it down, he refused, then justified it with a comment to the effect of, “It’s only dust” and “Trust me, it’s not really dirty.” So, we informed him that we were not staying, to which he replied, “Good.” This is the beginning of our story with Diablo & Sons, who saved our dining experience today. After the dirty table snafu, we walked over to Diablo & Sons, enjoyed some appetizers, house crafted beverages, and a few tacos – all served with a clean table and exceptional hospitality. Thank you Diablo & Sons!

Washington Hall Catering Menu with Prices 2860 Washington Rd, Augusta

This year we decided to hold our company Christmas party at Washington Hall. The staff was nothing short of amazing. I arrived early to see if there was anything I could help with, and when I walked in everything was completely done! The decorations were beautiful and the food was AMAZING. Thank you to the entire staff at Washington Hall for all of your hard work. We thoroughly enjoyed our time and will be returning!

Half Barrel Beer Project – Menu with Prices – 9650 Universal Blvd #143, Orlando

I was staying on I-Drive out by Disney for the weekend and discovered a new craft beer bar that I had not yet had an opportunity to check out, and man was it worth it to do so. The atmosphere was very laid back with plenty of seating options, and they even have a world map where you can pin where you are from. They have an expansive draft list including their own beers and guest beers, and everything on tap were high quality beers and a unique selection of beers you wouldn’t normally find on tap elsewhere. They also have a large selection of canned on bottled beers which can be enjoyed in the tap room or taken to go (beers taken to go are given a $1 or $2 discount depending on their tier). The staff (Wesley, Chad, and Anthony) were extremely friendly and we had a lot of fun chatting with them about different beers and about different breweries and craft beer bars in the area and the rest of the state. They were able to recommend several beers to try in the tap room, as well as a few we took home. I was very impressed with their own beers that I tried from them (including a NEIPA, an imperial stout, and a brown ale). I was also really enjoyed the guest sour beers they recommended for me to try. If you enjoy craft beer, and finding local places to go I definitely recommend checking out Half Barrel if you are in the Orlando area. I really enjoyed my time here and will be coming back next time I’m in town. Cheers!

Chili Line Brewing Co. – Menu with Prices – 204 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe

The 2 stars reflect our irritation with the bartender and not the very good beer we enjoyed. Stopped in for a thirst quencher after sight seeing. There were 3 groups of people when we went in. Bartender busy talking to the couple at the end of the bar so I waved my arms to get his attention. He gave us samples of their smoked beers but we decided on the very good American Lager after we waited several minutes to get his attention to order. Beer came and we enjoyed it with the roasted peanuts available there. Met the owner Zander who talked about creating the red and green chili beer. I tried the red but just a bit hot. When we finally got bartenderâ??s attention for our check he rang it up, then talked another 5 minutes before seeing us get up to leave and brought the bill. We left the exact amount with no tip. Would like to try another of their beer while we are here but not with the bartender there now.

Wilhelm Family Vineyards – Ventana – Menu with Prices – 5425 N Kolb Rd #119, Tucson

We wanted to love this place. It has such a great story with the first female wine maker in Arizona, who is knowlegable, fun and charismatic, if not a bit too talkative, a lovely atmosphere here, and an a beautiful winery in Elgin. Sadly, after two visits, we just had to say we won’t be back. Despite a nice white, whose name I can’t remember, all the reds in the flights we tried were just … not good. We left most of them barely touched. None of our party enjoyed them. The owner and the manager, who were both very nice, offered a port for dessert, which I have to admit was actually well rounded and lovely. The tapas selections were quite nice, so I can recommend those.. . I understand Wilhelm has done well with some of their wines at competitions, but I feel that I am missing something because I just didn’t care for them. Obviously other people do. We tend to prefer red wine, so since none of us enjoyed their reds, we won’t be back, which is a shame since we wanted to support or local wineries.. . A 4 for the white, 3 1/2 for the port, 1-2 for the reds, 4 for the tapas and 5 for the ambiance.

The Whale :: A Craft Beer Collective – Menu with Prices – 1108 S Main St Suite #116, Greenville

So I was searching for a new Craft Beer place this week and started reading reviews of The Whale and my wife and I were excited to go there after seeing their pics and reading their story. The Whale is on the West End of Greenville ( this IS the up and coming area of Main St Greenville). We had the pleasure of talking Beer and being hosted by the Owner Jesse, intensely knowledgeable, friendly, genuine, welcoming… what can I say? The Beer selection almost makes your brain hurt there are SO many to choose from, both on Tap and in bottles and cans and from all OVER the world. Ambiance is great, bright with the huge windows, plenty of seating. Stayed for a couple hours. Fantastic afternoon stop to end the day. He even had a bottled beer from our hometown area of San Luis Obispo, CA. Great place, Great host and Owner Jesse, incredible beers . West End (for now) is quieter and off the beaten path which is a nice, refreshing short walk from the opposite end of Main Street GVL. We have a new friend, we have a new favorite place to relax and enjoy a beer or wine or Cider… now I know why I’ve always loved Whales… Prost!!

Bottle Rocket Beer Reserve – Menu with Prices – 2182 Seneca St, Buffalo

If you are a craft beer lover then there is only one stop for you when visiting the area, BRBR. Nick, the owner, is everything you want in a craft beer store owner. I inquired about some available beers on their FB page asking for price and limits. He responded it was “4” and I made the 30 minute drive to the location to buy the particular beers. The employee told me the limit was “2” so I bought my beers and left. I returned to the FB page to correct the person who told me “4” to ensure they knew what I thought was the correct number. Nick responded that his employee was wrong and I then realized he was the owner. He offered to drive to me 30+ minutes to deliver the beers. I told him it wasn’t necessary because I was planning to stop by again the next day. Nick was working and proceed to open no less than 5 different beers (Special OH collabs, new joose release from a local spot, Hill Farmstead, etc). He shared everything with my colleagues who weren’t beer drinkers. By the end of our pre-airport stop, he hooked us up with recommendations for wings and pizza (Imperials pizza was phenomenal BTW). Can’t say enough about this spot and the owner. Every my coworkers were so impressed with how engaging and welcoming Nick was and offered to help find local beers they would enjoy back in Atlanta. Again if you are a beer person this is your spot. If you aren’t a beer person, still stop in and Nick will assist you in finding beers that I’m sure will surprise you.

The Casual Pint – Menu with Prices – 8718 Countryside Plaza, Omaha

To some, this place will seem to be just another Blatt or Old Chicago make-over but don’t be deceived. This franchise place is serious about craft and microbrew beers. The line of taps is very good but you will want to browse their selections of individual bottled and canned beers which you can drink on-site. In some ways, it is like being at BeerUtopia but here you can actually drink the beer! They have packaged beer and may break it open for you to try a bottle or can. They also have a selection of food to eat as well, including chili and pretzels. They sell “growlers” but these are actually 32 ounce rounders. This is because the place is not a brewery establishment (an odd feature of Nebraska law). They have these rounders half priced on Fridays. They also have crawlers which are 32 ounce cans. Very convenient if you do not want to commit to buying an expensive growler, but their Club has an answer for that. They have a good selection on tap but the prices by the glass tend to be on the high end, $5 or more. You can get 5 once glasses of beer too. Buying bottled or canned beer is less expensive so I highly recommend you check out those offerings which are very diverse. In addition, the atmosphere is calm and homey. Since they don’t sell liquor, you don’t run in to the shot-glass party types so much. This is a good place to hit on your day off or after work. Also, come summer, they do have the ability to open up the side of the place to the great outdoors. Lots of good things here. If you visit this place on a monthly basis, you will want to download their app to earn points for free credit! If you visit weekly, you will want to consider their Brewmasters Club, a subscription service which comes with a free growler and fill. Ask servers for details.
