I am a long time fan of Cruisin’ Coffee. The drinks I get are always delicious and I appreciate their smiles and friendly service. I have not had a truly bad experience at a Cruisin’ Coffee ever. This is the one I visit most frequently as it is close to home for me and they have proven to be pretty amazing in the past. The last couple times I have been there they did not remember what I ordered at the window and had to be corrected but I know they’ve got it in them. This will not deter me from coming back again and again. One thing that does put me off a little bit is that in food service, long hair or even medium hair is to be kept up when anywhere near the product and the last time I was there, the girl preparing the food items, including mine, had her hair down and no apron on over her sweatshirt. The apron I can look past but I work in food service and it is a major issue to have your hair down while working. I’m unsure if they have different rules because they are a coffee stand but I don’t see why it would be that different when preparing food items.

Pony Studios – Menu with Prices – 6012 College Ave, Berkeley

After two years of not having a proper haircut out of fear that I will get girl next door hair that is boring and impossible to style… I searched and searched and finally found COOL GIRL HAIR can be yours at Pony Studios! I took the plunge and made an appt with Corinna. With inspirational photos in hand I went, fingers crossed, that she would see my inner cool girl somewhere beneath my stringy grey blond mop. Entering the beautiful open space I was greeted warmly… we talked over my lifestyle (never blow dry, barely brush… need a look that can wake up, look effortless and pretty without having a top-knot everyday). We looked at the pictures, Corinna offered ideas as she looked at my texture and color. I want long hair but also want style around my face to give versatility and interest… can’t we have it all? YES… she gave me all the pretty face framing bits with more movement and style and I can still put it up! Corinna showed me how I can move my part to the side a bit to give that sexy soft “I woke up this way” look and how to use a bit of product to tame flyaways and look styled. Feeling like a cool girl… I didn’t want to leave. They have products to sample… yummy smelling skin care and organic hair creams and a big raw edge table where you can sit and look at giant fashion books. Super approachable space to hang out with really nice people… just BOOK IT, you’ll leave feeling on top of the world.

LA Boilers Seafood Menu with Prices 9085 Perkins Rd, Baton Rouge

Had a serious crawfish fix these past few weeks and knew exactly where to cure it ? I’d tried this place out almost three years ago when visiting town. Wife and family stopped in again this past Saturday evening after attending a festival down the road in Gonzales. Got two pounds crawfish while my wife got her preferred boiled shrimp. It was seasoned perfectly and the potatoes and corn picked up the crab boil only slightly. That’s how it’s supposed to be, in order to cleanse your palate with bites of each for the next tasty crawdad as you’re eating it. The service was outstanding, as it was my previous time there. Didn’t catch their names, but a blonde-haired girl took our orders seamlessly while another girl, with dark hair, was on the other register. Excellent experience and I’d go back again for more in a heartbeat!

Drybar Roseville in Ridge at Creekside – Menu with Prices – 1210 Roseville Pkwy, Roseville

I just love my hair style! I am one of those people who can not coordinate well with my hair. I am horrible at curling or styling my own hair. Joselyn, my stylist, was very attentive and very engaging. I love how comfortable she made me feel! I am proud to have my hair done by her. She was very informative as well. Told me what she was doing with my hair, why the tools were working it’s magic the way it did, and about the only one product she used on my hair. Drybar is truly blessed to have such a wonderful artist in their midst. Other than that, the location is right next to BJ’s restaurant. Interior is beautifully decorated and set up like a bar which is stretched all the way to the back. In the back, there is a washroom where they wash your hair. There is also a beautiful backdrop where you can pose and take pictures. The owners are these two lovely ladies who were generous enough to have the elites and I in for the night and served us complimentary drinks (I got myself a mimosa obviously). In all honesty, I’d totally come here to get a full blowout for my hair when I’m going out for a special event. They do such a wonderful job! All the ladies looked beautiful!

Lucid Studio – Menu with Prices – 3007 Clairemont Dr #10, San Diego

I have been going to Stephanie for more than a year as our relationship began when she was employed by another salon. Now, she has branched out on her own at Lucid, and I had no question and absolutely no hesitation that I would follow her, even though the location of the old salon was WAY more convenient (walking distance, to my house, which assured me I would get my Fitbit steps in, lol). Actually, the new location- while it is a 15 minute car ride away – is great, as it is near a Sprouts & other stores (get your errands done with great looking hair, ladies) and has ample parking. The studio itself is made me feel like a little girl getting my first Strawberry Shortcake doll…..it’s an explosion of sherbet colors with an mature twist. And I’m not the only one who likes it: as I was getting my roots touched up, other nearby studio mates had stopped in to compliment Stephanie on the look of the studio! Now about the hair: I have always been a hard sell with hair; like most of us, I’m challenging to please! But in the past I have always accepted a level of defeat – oh, it will grow back, the color is not really that bad, etc. I’m in my mid-40’a, and I’m at that age where my face is changing, my gray is getting grayer or more visible, you ladies my age know what I am talking about. I went from a VERY dark inky brunette/black (due to overuse of at home box color) and have graduated lighter and lighter to a medium brown with dark underlays and caramel highlights. She has taken years of my look! I know this to be true, as when I go back to the east coast after a year of being gone, I am told that me & my hair looks amazing ? As young as Stephanie is, I’ve never had someone so in tune with my hair and my look and making me look and feel pretty – and making me still feel young!. Stephanie has a thoughtful eye for color and she doesn’t ‘over do’ it. She also never tries to push expensive products on you. After a while, though, once my old crappy products run out, I end up buying some of the stuff that she uses on my hair, as it actually works! Personally, Stephanie is someone I would be friends with, or would want to be friends with, even if she didn’t do my hair. She is pleasant to chat with, has an incredible memory (almost scarily so!!) regarding anything you told her, and is extremely relatable. She’s also great at talking and NOT stopping doing your hair (you know how some people stop what they are doing and talk with their hands? Yeah, well, Stephanie is not like that :-)!) I can’t say enough good stuff about this girl….she knows what she’s doing, she seems to have that ‘it’ factor in figuring out what looks good on a person, and as long as I continue to get compliments on my color and my cut, I’m not planning on seeing anyone else ?

The Blockhouse – Menu with Prices – 516 Houston St, Nashville

Taking two factors into consideration..the cut and the service. The cut 2 stars….the service 5. Average rating: 3. Dry cuts are always a hit or miss with me anyway. I know it’s the new trend and can often work on most hair types. On mine, not so much. I have course, thinning hair and goes in every direction possible. When you sit in the chair with styled hair it’s pretty simple to follow a template as all the hairs are being held by product and manipulation from earlier that day. But what happens when you go home and shampoo your hair? All those hairs that were nicely pasted down and styled flat soon take surface. I like to assess a good haircut based on the amount of time it takes you to style a “fresh cut” on the second day. If you are continually trying to work it into a style and it doesn’t fall quickly into your normal groom routine the cut might have missed the mark. This was my experience. Stray pieces needing to be trimmed and more product to control the frizz isn’t fun. The service on the other hand was pretty cool. A beverage while you wait and a very casual setting. I love the concept of this place but wasn’t a fan of the end result. Was hoping to love this place but I feel it missed the mark.

On The Rise Baking – Menu with Prices – 1120 Pleasant St, Worcester

Used to be so delicious… Cakes have become cloying. Owner can’t be overseeing them like she used to. I spent over $60 for a carrot cake for my friend’s anniversary bc it was the very cake she had served at her wedding. Everyone took a slice, but none of them ate more than a bite. At the end of the party, they asked me if I wanted to take it home. I didn’t. Nobody did. The last time I went, I asked the counter girl if they had a cake for a work emergency. The girl rolled her eyes and said they only had ordered cakes. I had gotten several emergency cakes sold to me w grace and laughter in prior years. What is worse than a self- important, poorly- mannered teenager when you’re trying to buy a lemon scone, coffee and cake for a friend? Their lemon scones are still delicious. Their coffee beans are great but they frequently don’t use enough of them. The most reliable product these days are the Rose 32 breads… But, that’s another bakery that’s still proud of its product and service. Sadly, “On the Rise” has fallen.

Danny Medina Artistry – Menu with Prices – 133 Kearny St Ste 200, San Francisco

Fist, the whole booking process is very easy and simple. The services are listed for you (which explains what each service will include) and you just choose the one you want and after, you will see the times available. The service itself was amazing! Danny is truly versatile with the different textures of hair he works with from super straight to super curly or even coarse hair (such as my hair). I would honestly say he’s one of the best male hair stylists. For those curious about the process; once you arrive he has you change into a jacket to protect you from the hair. You then sit and he gives you a consultation on exactly how you would want your hair. Next he gives a complimentary above the shoulder massage which was amazing and helps to relax you. After the massage he then begins to style you and work on your head. After he’s finished with his work and you’re satisfied with the length, etc. He then shampoos, rinses and dries you. Danny has really great knowledge of hair products which would go well with your type of hair, he helped me with finding a product which helped out a lot! Lastly he offered a warm towel for my face to help my muscles relax and rehydrate my skin. Once everything is done he will reassure that you love it and are satisfied before he’s completely finished. Overall my whole experience was amazing! (I also want to mention how he knows how to hold a good conversation or if you want to relax he lets you relax as well) I would recommend him to everyone with all different textures of hair because he definitely knows what he’s doing. Thank you Danny!

Salad And Go | Healthy Drive Thru – Menu with Prices – 5259 E Brown Rd, Mesa

Sad to write this post but I will never be returning to this establishment again. My boyfriend and I went through the drive-through on Wednesday evening at around 7:30, I ordered the antipasto salad and he ordered the BBQ ranch salad wrap with chicken. Thankfully, his wrap was fine. My salad, however, wasn’t. I found a long blonde hair twisted up in my salad! I know it wasn’t either of ours, my hair is bright red and my boyfriends is dark brown. I tried to look for a phone number to call them and ask for a refund, but the number listed on yelp doesn’t work and they don’t have any phone numbers listed on their website. So, I drive back, get out of the car and go up to the walk-up window. This girl, coincidentally with blonde hair, opens the window and I tell her that I would like a refund as I found hair in my salad. I also brought back the salad with said hair, for proof. She says ok, takes my salad and closes the window, comes back in a minute with cash for my salad refund. I proceeded to ask her for a refund on my whole order and tell her what my boyfriend had. As she’s ‘processing my refund’, she says ‘Just so you know in the future, I can’t open this window past 7’. There was a sign on the window that said the walk-up window closes at 7. So then I said, well maybe you guys should be more careful about not getting hair in your customers food, to which she replies ‘Oh, that wasn’t from me’. Then she shuts the window. Not once did she apologize for the mistake or do anything to rectify the situation. What absolutely horrid customer service. This is super disappointing as I spend a lot of money at Salad and Go, and this particular location as it is so close to home, convenient and I loved the fact that it was a healthier option. Well, never again will I be back. Beware.

Johnny’s Saloon & Pizzeria – Menu with Prices – 17428 Beach Blvd, Huntington Beach

This is was the 2nd time I was in there. Last time, I was asked for ID which is ok although I am waaaay over 21. It was ok. We decided to try it again with our neighbors. There was 4 of us and when we sat down, the bartender asked us for ID. My neighbor did not have ID with her. The bartender said he would not serve us without ID. It was the owners rules. Now, I understand the rules. You have to do what you have to do. HOWEVER, our ages ranged from 53 to 73 years old. Really?!!!! Also, we also understand the rules but do they have to be so rude about it?! Luckily we lived close by and she went home and got her ID. The only reason we went there was because I told them it was ok for a local bar and close to home. But we got rude service with ok drinks but with an attitude. Even when we asked for the bill, the guy just walked by and said he would get to us. It wasn’t all that busy yet – 5pm on a Saturday – really? I guess we have to find a new local place. My neighbor said Shooters said they were nicer. I understand asking for ID if that is the rules but you don’t have to be rude and HELLLOOOOO – WE WERE WAY OVER 50 YEARS OLD.. . Not coming back and definitely not recommending to any of our friends.

DQ World HQ – Menu with Prices – 7505 Metro Blvd, Minneapolis

Stopped by with the wife and my little one to grab some Ice Cream and Coffee around 9:15 pm. While i was in the drive through, i asked to get No sugar added box of ice cream bars and a coffee and the girl who was taking the order asked if it;s alright if it takes 7 minutes and i said sure why not. 5 cars ahead of me and by the time i get to the window, it will take way more than 7 minutes. All of the sudden,a male goes on speaker and tells me that they don’t serve coffee at Dairy queen!! I said you don’t serve coffee and the girl just told me it takes 7 minutes. Then he came back on speaker and said they ran out of coffee. Of course i realized the lie and asked for his name, he disappeared for a moment and then i inquired his name and he said it in a fast way to make me give up and then didn’t answer me on speaker. I stayed in the car for 10 minutes until i reached the window and the girl looked at me and i said who is the manager? She called the same guy by the name Phillipe. I said i need to see him to get things straight. Phillipe came right to the windows and he said they are out of stock and don’t serve coffee at night! I said ohhh, so Dairy queen don’t serve coffee at night and you’re not out of stock. He said yes. I asked him is this the policy of Dairy queen and he said yes!! I asked him again and i said Dairy queen Corporate knows has this policy and he said that’s our policy. At that point i asked him who is the owner of this location on 32nd street and 13th Ave S in Fargo, and he refused to tell me and walked away leaving me on the window. I can’t describe how humiliated i felt talking to this low life garbage employee who thinks he can make his own rules without any supervision. It’s pretty sad to see Dairy Queen getting loose on their hire and training. As an owner of a local company, i will be sharing this information and response to all of my staff. I need to see the policy where Dairy queen won’t make a coffee after 9 pm according to Phillipe. Shame!

MoonBean’s Coffee – Menu with Prices – 6221 Santa Teresa Blvd, San Jose

Been coming here for a few years now. The coffee selection is awesome! From light, to medium, to dark roast, each type is split into 3 lists. My favorite is the Jamaica Blue coffee, which is NOT always in stock, but that somehow makes it even better. They only get one batch a year. Its 100% pure Jamaica Blue coffee beans which is, you guessed it, straight from Jamaica! “Right near the beach!” (Sorry, had to say it). Tip: If you don’t know what coffee to try, ask the baristas to help you decide. They’re super knowledgeable of their product and also great conversationalists. There is a handful of small tables in the front and toward the back, but my personal favorite spot to sip on my cup-a-Joe, is on the couch. Give this place a try. Seriously, come check out this chill coffee shop and find out for yourself. You’re treated like family here and that’s what it’s all about.
