Came back to BR for a few days and of course I had to get me some crawfish.. So I was in search for a new place that was a little closer to me and I came across this fantastic place. This place sits on Perkins Rd in the same lot as Purple Cow Across from Trader Joe’s and I was a little skeptical since this was a mobile thingymajig and from recent bad experiences in Memphis with crawfish.. but omg this place made up for it.. I’ve gotten a little better with determining how I like my crawfish and these are Def better than Capital City. However I think this place is in comps with Prescott’s grocery. ( My nose was running eating those mudbugs and that’s what I want!) I only got 1lb Of crawfish and oh my do I regret not getting more! They were nice n hot! The spicy level was amazing my lips were slightly burning. My nose wasn’t running but OMG they still tasted amazing and weren’t salty AT ALL! A few of them were on the small side but I’m cool with that because I thought the flavors made up for the size. I will definitely be a return customer. Is there a way for me to get them extra spicy?

P & L Seafood – Menu with Prices – 2200 Fairway Dr, Mobile

Even though this place is located in a sketchy part of Mobile, I would DEFINITELY recommend you come here. I haven’t had crawfish in years and after trying some not so fantastic seafood places, I was told to go here from a friend. At first I saw the location and didn’t really want to go in… but I’m glad I did! The owners are Vietnamese, so you KNOW they know how to cook! The prices are cheap and totally worth every penny! I went to Mudbugs and compared it to P & L’s but let me tell you, Mudbugs is NOT worth the wait. This place took me less than 2 minutes to go in and out. The crawfish is fresh and spicy, and hardly had any old or even small crawfish (unlike Mudbugs). After coming here a dozen times I feel horrible going to any other crawfish places. GO HERE! IT’S AMAZING!!!

Chuck Wagon Crawfish – Menu with Prices – 8696 Youree Dr, Shreveport

Worst crawfish I have ever had. They taste like they were boiled with lemons and then after being cooked had seasoning dumped on them. I LOVE spicy food, but these are not “spicy” they are unpleasantly over-seasoned. I literally had six crawfish and had to stop. My lips HURT, and my upper lip is sweating. The heat is topical, and does not permeate to the actual crawfish tail. Not juicy at all; you’re sucking air if you go after the head. Claw meat minimal despite good sized crawfish; however, they also seemed to have been beat to hell and back. This is likely a result of when (I observed while waiting) they are dry seasoning after the boil and stirring…in a cooler. Side note, it wouldn’t hurt to see one or any of the employees smile.

Creole Gold – Menu with Prices – 1810 Rayford Rd, Spring

Crawfish season is here, and I’m so glad I found Creole Gold. I had a craving a few weeks ago and ended up getting some cooked at one of the local grocery stores. It was OK, but just, well, OK. Visited Creole Gold last week (and today) and won’t settle for the grocery store pop-up again!!! Their crawfish was a good size and had great flavor. Maybe it’s the freshness of the crawfish, but you can taste a little of the water they came from (that’s a good thing)…actually tastes like seafood. It’s seasoned perfectly with enough kick to let you know it’s there, but not so much as to put you in pain. It had a nice build of spicy that by the 4th one, I could feel a nice tingle on my lips. Some places around here seem to think there’s a competition on making it as hot and unbearable as possible. This crawfish also had flavor IN the meat. They don’t sprinkle the seasoning on top of the crawfish, but when you suck the head and eat the tail meat, it’s inside, not just covering the shell. Corn and potatoes were included and also had good seasoning. Corn was sweet and had a touch of spice. They have other options (Jambalaya, Catfish, Gumbo, etc.) and the bread pudding is ridiculously good. They take their show on the road every once in a while, so check their calendar to make sure theyâ??re at the spot before you come. Oh, crawfish was $6/lb the day I visited. I think it may vary during the season.

Lil Kats Seafood – Menu with Prices – 8006 W Metairie Ave, Metairie

I am the self proclaimed ‘Crawfish Queen’ of our household, just ask Matt. I have a serious addiction to these little mudbugs and as a result I’ve tried just about every place that sells boiled crawfish within a 5 mile radius of our home. I’ve got to give it to the guys who run this business, hence the 5 stars!, because they’re serving up some of the most flavorful, well seasoned and largest crawfish in the area and quite possibly in the entire city of New Orleans! I have several places I’ve visited in the past when I’m in the mood for boiled crawfish, but since discovering Lil Kat’s Seafood I have to admit I’ve all but abandoned them. Lil Kat’s is located on W Metairie, in the same strip as Come Back Inn. I’ve been going to Come Back Inn going on eight years now, but have only discovered Lil Kat’s within the past 6 months. All I think nowadays is WHY did it take me so long to try this hidden gem!?! I may never know the answer to that question- but I have seen the light that is Lil Kat’s and it draws me in like a mosquito in the night every single time the word crawfish crosses my mind, which to be completely honest is pretty much every other day. Like Teneha B. said, I now try to find any excuse to sneak over here to grab a few pounds of their amazing crawfish! However a word to the wise- if it’s a holiday weekend you may want to do some planning in advance because they have been known to run out of crawfish (boiled and live) towards the end of the day. I’ve never had an issue when I stop by around lunch time, but I stopped by last weekend around 5pm to grab a few pounds for dinner and they had already run out and another small batch wouldn’t be ready for another hour. I damn near lost it, and wandered around aimlessly like a drifter- because like I said before, I have all but abandoned my previous crawfish suppliers. No one’s boiling them like Lil Kat’s! So instead of getting boiled crawfish from somewhere else only to be extremely disappointed, I just opted for something else entirely and went for Dungeness crab which worked out quite nicely. Needless to say that as I write this review, I have yet to get my weekly crawfish fix so I will certainly be making up for that this coming weekend! Lil Kat’s is DEFINITELY worth the trip from wherever you are coming from, be it Baton Rouge or the West Bank. I will advise that they don’t have anywhere for you to sit and eat inside/or outside of the restaurant, so plan accordingly. If you don’t live nearby, maybe bring a big blanket and head out to Lafreniere Park for a picnic. No matter where you decide to eat them, just get on over there and try them!

House of Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 4582 Cumberland Rd, Fayetteville

6/25/2019: I had to update my review because House of Thai more than deserves the fifth star. Their food is just so dang good. I’ve tried a few other Thai places in Fayetteville over the last few days and nowhere held a candle to House of Thai. This time I ordered the Tom Kha medium spice and the Drunken Noodles hot spice. And holy wow!! I am food drunk right now this was so good. The curry the other day was definitely delicious, but I think it was maybe just a little too busy last Friday for them to be able to really put the magic into their cooking that I was lucky enough to receive today. 6/21/2019: I am personally a Thai fanatic. And I’d definitely come back to this place. That being said, it was by no means the best Thai I’ve ever had, but it was by no means anywhere close to the worst. I’m giving four stars because the service was good, the food came fast, fresh, and hot, and the spice level was fair. Overall, my expectations of Fayetteville Thai, at a restaurant with few reviews have been exceeded. I ordered the green curry with chicken with medium spice. Sometimes I order medium spice at other restaurants and it’s like they forgot to even salt the food it lacks so much spice. But the spice level here was really good. I love spicy food, and after eating a bit my nose started to run and I had that little bit of tinlge on my lips. The curry itself was pretty standard. It wasn’t anything exceptional, but I would definitely eat it again. Overall, I would recommend House of Thai to my friends.

The Taste of Mardi Gras Foods – Menu with Prices – 9180 Frisco St, Frisco

Dropped by the Frisco Fresh Market today to try the food from The Taste of Mardi Gras. I attempted last week but there was a huge line and I wasn’t sure what was on the menu. I decided before waiting in the long line I’d go up to the register and check out the menu. They had a board that listed some wonderful items however there were no prices. I picked up what I thought was a mini menu in front of the register however it was just a brochure. They were so busy because they cook to order most of what they sell I decided to look online, to no avail, and then decided to come back another time. I contacted them on social media and asked for them to post a menu with prices but to no avail. So, I dropped by today and there was no line. I was quoted a price of $8.99 a pound for boiled crawfish and saw they had put out 2 menus by the register. I purchased a 16″ Shrimp Po’boy ($21) and 3 pounds of crawfish ($27) to take home. My son really dislikes tomatoes and pickles, so we ordered the po’boy with lettuce only in addition to the garlic butter they add. When we got home my son unwrapped his po’boy to find the normal amount of tomatoes and pickles, no huge deal just disappointing, pull them off and eat it. The fried shrimp were wonderfully cooked and had a little kick added to the batter. The bread was outstanding and is from Gambino’s (if you know, you know). My crawfish were seasoned okay although we both detected a bit of sweetness that was somewhat off putting. There were a number of mushy tails, tails that were dark grey, and some that were hard. Most of the crawfish were very small, even though I realize this is early in the season I’ve had larger elsewhere here locally in the past couple weeks. When paying the premium price of $8.99 a pound for crawfish at a walk-up counter, I guess I expected more. The people behind the counter were very pleasant and conversive and I wish them well as a fellow Louisianan now Texan. P.S. Late this afternoon I got a response to my online inquiry about their prices however a bit late. I was told if you ask for “The Special” you can get the crawfish at $7.99 a pound. So far this year my standby for crawfish is a hole in the wall in Lewisville called the Bayou Market where you can get mud bugs for $6.99 lb anyday and 10 lbs or more for $5.99 lb. Waiting on Mudbugs Bar & Grill to open up soon on Hwy 423 to try them, is owned by Louisiana folks from Jennings who started out running live crawfish from LA to Dallas.

The LA Crawfish – Menu with Prices – 1303 S 10th St, McAllen

This place is surprisingly good! Being from Louisiana I’m very picky about my seafood. The crawfish is more Asian style which means the seasoning is put in the bag after u pick ur level of spice and flavor. I usually don’t like that but the seasoning is so good it actually works. I’m surprise the crawfish are a nice size bcuz they are out of season right now. I only got a pound bcuz i was afraid but i wasn’t disappointed. My flavor was Cajun and butter garlic/ spicy. I also got the crawfish pho due to the good reviews I’ve read on here and once again i was not disappointed. So much flavor!!! Recent Update!!! I’m back again & this time it’s crawfish season! They had a special today! Buy 2 pounds get the 3rd free. They were soooo good! I got the same flavor as last time. I also tried the snowcrab legs in Cajun garlic flavor which were yummy & cooked to protection however, a bit pricey. I decided to try the blue crab as well and i was disappointed. They weren’t even cooked all the way and when they replaced it, they replaced it with a small miniature blue crab with NO claws that was over cooked. Wasted my money on the blue crab but now i know what not to get.

Cajun Seafood – Menu with Prices – 2707 Granby St #104a, Norfolk

Not the place for crawfish. Originally was really excited to get some crawfish take out, especially for only $5.99 per pound but was really disappointed with the quality. The crawfish looked huge but the tails inside were small and shriveled- as if they were previously frozen then over cooked. For 2 lbs I barely had enough to fill me up and the seasoning wasn’t flavorful and barely coated the crawfish. Would come and try the crab legs next time but definitely recco against getting the crawfish again.

New Orleans Seafood – Menu with Prices – 2442 Pleasant Hill Rd #8, Duluth

Ordered the live spicy crawfish for $5.99lb and the gumbo. The crawfish was much spicier than I remember, almost to the point I thought I couldn’t eat them. I eat sliced habanero(pickled) as a condiment and jalapenos raw so my tolerance is pretttty decent. I drank water and a milk shake but had to stop eating them halfway thru. This may be perfectly okay for some but I want to enjoy the taste of my food. The gumbo used to be really good but not so much anymore. Crawfish is normally prepared already at these places but I had to wait almost 20 mins for them to cook 3lbs so just a heads up if you’re in a rush. I recall going there before and seeing the staff arguing with customers on multiple occasions and wasn’t sure how I felt about that. There was only 1 other person there this time so I’m wondering if ppl have decided to take their resources elsewhere.

Crawdad’s of Dallas – Menu with Prices – 2701 Fondren Dr, Dallas

Crawdad’s catered our company event and I’d be glad to recommend them to anyone considering Cajun food/crawfish boil as a party theme. They have a great catering menu and there is more than crawfish. We ordered crawfish for 30 and got a really good price per pound. For parties, you need to order 1 week before the event to ensure you get the most recent market price. We opted to get our crawfish cooked and ready to eat although you can hire them to cook the live crawfish at your location. If you get it precooked, it’s much cheaper. The food came in Styrofoam coolers that kept the crawfish hot until serving time. They were medium-large sized crawfish with lots of Cajun seasoning. The new potatoes were super creamy and the corn was so sweet and tasty. Definitely check them out! They’re the only crawfish caterer that will deliver to DFW locations.

Curryfornia – Menu with Prices – 2140 Artesia Blvd Suite N, Torrance

I love this place. It’s a little different when you walk in, but if you’ve been to Japan, you’ll understand what’s going on. You place your order on the screen, pay there, get a ticket, and go sit down. The options are clearly laid out, the screen walks you through the options, and you can add more or less than what the screen is telling you. You build whatever you want here. Be careful though! A hungry person will possibly add too much to his order, resulting in too much food that is too delicious to not finish leading to a too-full stomach later. I wouldn’t know anything about this though. ? Only one thing: This is where you tip! There will be no “service” in the standard way. No one will bring your food, check on you, refill your glasses, or anything like that. I missed this the first time and felt bad, but I always get confused when I have to tip on service that hasn’t been rendered. HOWEVER, you should tip just because of the care that goes into this food. This is a small local business (I’m pretty sure it’s a family, but usually the owner is alone), and the food is worth it. Also, if there are people whose tickets print ahead of yours, or if there are people sitting in the dining room without food, be prepared to wait. However, it’s worth it. Now, the food comes out of the window HOT. I’ve actually burned my mouth on it before, and that’s not a knock on anything. It’s made to order right there. The curry, without knowing a whole lot about Japanese curry, has many distinct flavors in it (maybe nutmeg? I dunno) and doesn’t rely on corn starch for thickening. I usually order mine at the highest spicy level, and it’s not so much that my nose is running: I can still taste the flavors very clearly. I also don’t see that layer of chili oil that a lot of places will use to increase spicy level. So, it’s powders and chilis that are doing it. The addons should not be missed. While I wouldn’t say it’s the BEST tonkatsu or the BEST takoyaki or the BEST karaage I’ve had, it’s really near the top. The tonkatsu comes out crispy and moist and the takoyaki (when cooled off a bit) is crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside with small bits of chewy octopus. This is easily the best curry I’ve had and the entire package make this one of the best restaurants I’ve visited. To the owner, keep up the fantastic work! And to the prospective eater, I hope you enjoy as much as I do!

Big N’s BBQ and Crawfish – Menu with Prices – 4034 Katy Hockley Cut Off Rd, Katy

Now this is a cool little spot – you can’t miss it. A short drive past baseball fields and a roadside fruit stand and you’ll arrive at a food truck parked on the side of the road with covered seating, televisions, air conditioned bathrooms, and a jump house for the kids. Spacious parking! No wifi so you might have to take your nose out of your phone and act like you like your friends. The proprieter’s friendly demeanor and solid handshake lets you know you’re in the right place. Hot and spicy crawfish at a reasonable price per pound with a few button mushrooms and green olives in the mix. Corn and potatoes are tender and served on the side. Not a mudbug fan? They have BBQ plates too. Hot dogs and the works for the kiddos. Be sure to bring some beers iced down as its BYOB. I could easily make a day of just louging around and watching the cars go by. My only comment would be that when I go back – I’m going to see if I can snag some dry seasoning or maybe melted butter for the corn and potatoes but y’all – this place is the bomb. Give them a shot! You won’t regret it.
