Came here with our granddaughter on a Saturday night. All of 4 customers in total in the whole place. We ordered from the kids menu first. Since we wanted both the Chicken and Mac n Cheese we asked if we could order a side order of the mac n cheese. The waiter said he needed mgmt approval for this but came back and said he could do it for cost of $4. Keep in mind mac n cheese is a main dish on the menu for adults and children… When the food came I was shocked by what was brought to us bcuz it was literally cheap boxed mac n cheese from the grocery store in a very small container. Not what they actually serve the customers on the menu. When I questioned why we didn’t get what was on the menu they said bcuz the good mac n cheese is premade with the chicken. Really. They charge $4 for a small portion of something that is cheap and didn’t even taste good??? No flavor at all. We could have stayed home for this. Instead what we got was over cooked chicken plain box M&C with a fruit cup for the baby. When I say fruit cup I thought it was going to be fresh fruit bowl/ cup but even that was literally a fruit cup that you get at the grocery store in a plastic cup (the kind that’s sold 6 in a pack)with the plastic seal over it. Wow really! Unreal!!!! The food that the adults ordered was sad as well. The fries were so greasy to even touch let alone eat and the fish tasted at if it had been cooked in three day old grease! I was so upset by the whole baby’s meal and fish and fries situation that I sent my food back untouched. But of course I was charged for that too. I don’t care about the money. Given the crowd that WASN’T there they need it more than I do. $53 FOR A MEAL THAT WAS BY FAR THE CHEAPEST I’VE HAD IN MANY YEARS. I’M REFERRING TO THE QUALITY NOT THE COST. NEEDLESS TO SAY I WON’T BE BACK.

Funderburk’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 500 Americhase Drive Suites G & H, Greensboro

I went Sunday afternoon after church. The sanitation grade was great: 98, if I remember correctly. I ordered the fried chicken (dark), fried okra, and collard greens. The chicken was really good! The crust was super crispy, and the chicken was well-cooked. That’s hard to find nowadays. The okra was okay, but the breading could have used more seasoning. The collards were great (they don’t season with pork, but whatever they do use is fantastic!), but there were more stems in them than I like. But the flavor was good. However, I do have a few issues with the place. For what the meal cost, I don’t expect to eat off of a paper plate, with a plastic fork, and drink out of a plastic cup. That was disappointing. China, silverware, and a glass are expected. Also, I received a small, plastic fork – no knife or spoon. I had to ask for a knife for my mother to use with her meal. She ordered chicken tenders, and there was no dipping sauce to go with them. In addition, the young man who checked on us had the personality of a rock. No greeting, no pleasantries, no smile, just “Are you still all right.” My mother drank water (in a plastic cup), and they charged 25 cents for it. Unbelievable! I had tea. Nobody ever asked if we wanted a refill – which I’m sure would have cost, too! Good grief! While the food was pretty good, I won’t go back.

New York Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 620 Orange St, Newark

I give them 5 stars not based on the meal I just received, the fish was cooked too dark, and the chicken, it wasn’t worth my $17.00…I am highly disappointed, but, my previous visits when I’m in the store ordering is cooked golden brown, I rave about their fish, but, today it was not up to par at all…if I didn’t live a ways, I would’ve taken it back.!!!

Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 9026 Archibald Avenue (7th & Archibald, Rancho Cucamonga

I purchased two half-chicken dinners here yesterday. They were cooked to my order and I had to wait a bit for my order. This was OK by me because the chicken was still very hot when I got it home (I live a 15 minute or so frome this location). Fancy that, HOT commercial fried chicken that had not been sitting in a hot case for who-knows how long drying out, whoo-HOO! Service was good and friendly. The pieces were quite large; they must be using the grocery store chickens, you know, the 5-6 pounders Vons and such sell (hard to find a true 3-4 lb fryer because they are all sold to the chains). Nice chicken flavor, not super salty like a LOT the stuff at other chains and grocery stores. The chicken breasts were cut in half because they were of the type that weights 12 oz plus, gigantor size, which is just fine by me. I had chicken breast that was VERY juicy, properly cooked! Everything else was nicely cooked too. The meat had a nice texture. It was not brined I am sure. Brining tends to make fried chicken more soft in texture. The texture and flavor of this was chicken and not of chickeny-salt. The collards were seasoned with some bacon and were tasty but way too salty. Beans and rice, well, the beans were not seasoned other than salt; nothing to write home about. The rolls were a standard white dinner roll and ok. This was decent, basic fried chicken and I would consider purchasing from here again because the chicken was not too salty, DID taste like chicken and was freshly cooked for me. The sides were meh. Recommended for a fresh, cooked, tasty and HOT (though not seasoned other than salt and pepper) fried chicken. Note: The chicken in fried in the same oil that the fish is fried in. This is not objectionable to me when the chicken is hot. When the chicken is cold, the fish flavor it quite evident. Remember to buy it then eat it HOT.

Linda Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 1626 N Fresno St, Fresno

Divey just like any South East Asian store in Fresno, the highlight of this place is the fresh fish and LIVE seafood such as Crabs, Lobster and Oysters. In addition they also carry a complete asian grocery goods such as sauces, vegetables, herbs, spices, frozen goods, can goods, tea, coffee and even cutleries, tableware and more. There is plenty of private lot parking around the store, and be warned that this store is really for non-divas, because it is a place for more adventurous people who are used to asian styled chaotic grocery with the lack of details to create a beautiful grocery experience. With that said, its not the worst I’ve seen. Overall Im a fan of this place because it carries a huge inventory of asian grocery and overall the price is very cheap. I would say somethings are even way cheaper than R-N, golden bowl and Asia supermarket. Cash is preferred but they do accept credit cards and debit cards. The aisle is not very big, but the store is packed right and left with goods, I wouldn’t think they carried so much stuff, but they do. I do love seeing the pots, pans, mugs, cups, plates, bowls, saucers and etc at a very cheap price in comparison to other place in town. Its not crowded too when I visited it at noon. In addition they also have a huge range of frozen seafood and asian ingredients such as screwpine leaves and various exotic fishes. The owner is asian style service so dont expect much, be independent and explore this tiny little seafood store. They are open from 9-6 according to the owner, however I would call first before coming. I haven’t purchased the fresh fish yet, so I can’t give my testimonial on that, but their dry goods and vegetable has been great.

Mekong Market – Menu with Prices – 747 Main St, Worcester

This is considered to be one of the most popular Vietnamese grocery store in Worcester. This grocery store has gone through many changes throughout the years. They used to be located a block away from here in a tiny store back in the 1980’s. In the 90’s they expanded the store and grew their operations into another building. The grocery store has a airport hangar type of feeling similar to going to BJ’s or Costco. You can find almost every type of Southeast Asian food here, from fresh banh mi (Vietnamese sandwiches) to frozen boxes of imported squid. They also have a fresh fish market in the back. They will even descale the fish for you unlike most fish markets. This place also sell various types of Asian cookware and other household needs. Parking here can be a challenge since they have a tiny off street parking lot. The parking lot is situated at a 20 degree angle so you might want to be careful of runaway shopping carts hitting your car. Street parking is also hard to find here since you are in downtown Worcester. Overall I prefer to shop here than at the other two popular Vietnamese grocery stores in Worcester since this place has a off street parking lot.

Surf & Turf Food Co – Menu with Prices – 5740 Old Cheney Rd, Lincoln

This place is in a small strip mall just off of Old Cheney road. They regularly update their Facebook page and website with information about what they are getting in or have in. When you first walk in you will probably notice the high prices, but recognize that there’s a good reason why this fish costs more than what you’re getting at the grocery store. The flavor that you get from flown in fresh, never frozen, troll caught fish that is expertly fileted is amazing. I’ve only tasted similar quality fish when eating fresh caught fish just off the sea. You will also find many kinds of fish that you can’t get at the grocery store. For example, we recently had their Ivory King Salmon-a white filet with a buttery, silky taste. Overall, this place is definitely worth a try and should be considered whenever you are in the mood for high quality seafood.

Central Fish Market – Menu with Prices – 401 Central Ave #2802, Jersey City

This is a great little local gem if you want some casual home cooked seafood. They have a huge menu of cooked food options, I actually didnt see any fish for sale. So I chose the fried combo seafood platter ($10) and broiled salmon with salad and rice. The portions were HUGE and delicious. The 2 ladies who were cooking were VERY nice. Literally it is like mom’s home cooking. The ambiance is very casual lile any fish market establishment. There is table seating there and soft drinks available for purchase. They will serve you at the table if you dine in. Overal a great CASUAL spot for a great seafood meal. I may recommend takout if you want ambiance, it’s not fancy, but the food is more than worth the trip.

Angry Goldfish Pub & Eatery – Menu with Prices – 2301 SW 9th St, Des Moines

After seeing so many good reviews from here, we finally had to check it out and were not at all disappointed! It definitely lives up to the hype!!! We came in for my dad’s birthday and had an amazing early dinner. Our server Maddie was fantastic and super friendly. We started off with their Angry goldfish crackers, which were actually not as spicy as I thought they were going to be, they have a nice heat but not burn your mouth off! And are super cheap! We also ordered the Beer cheese dip with pretzels and that is one of the best beer cheese dips I have had in the metro! The pretzels are super soft and buttery and I did keep the cheese dip to use on my fries because I couldn’t let it go to waste. I ordered the Boursain burger with Parmesan fries, and it was to die for!! So much pesto, melted cheese, and caramelized onions made it rich and delicious! The Parmesan fries were also delicious and perfectly cooked! (they are especially good with the beer cheese) My hubby ordered the Crispy chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce, he really enjoyed it and said it was delicious and pretty spicy! My mom ordered Fish n chips and the fish was cooked perfectly and had a great tartar sauce and coleslaw, also served with a hefty portion of Parmesan Fries. My dad ordered the Graziano’s Meatloaf and it was full of flavor, their angry ketchup was delicious with just a bit of heat! The mashed potatoes, corn and cornbread (with homemade honey butter) also great! Overall AMAZING food/service/atmosphere, will definitely be back!! * Just a note- get here early because there is VERY limited parking and it’s not a big place! (If you have a larger group you may want to consider car pooling)

Aquarius Fish Co – Menu with Prices – 314 W 300 S, Salt Lake City

I was on a mission to find fish suitable for sushi, a daunting task in a landlocked state. I’ve tried (and failed) to find fresh, flavorful fish in the past and finally came across Aquarius Fish Co in my searches. I made it in after work, about half an hour before they closed. Although they have several different and sometimes exotic options, I was looking to purchase 3/4 of a pound each of tuna and salmon. The gentleman behind the counter was incredibly helpful, assessing my needs and made a recommendation for a New Zealand King salmon. This guy clearly knows his fish. That was hands down the most delicious salmon I’ve ever eaten, and was wonderfully fresh, as I understand seafood shipments are flown in daily. He was also kind enough to pack it on ice for me, as I had a 40 minute drive home. It’s not cheap fish, but it’s also not cheap fish, if you know what I mean. This is not your grocery store seafood department, nor is it the asian market variety. You truly get what you pay for, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled with the product. It’s not easy to find, but it shares a wall with Caputo’s, and is up on the second level of the building on the left side. I’m afraid I’ll wear my own path to their door now that I’ve found a legitimate fish market in Utah.

DVDXpress @ Charles Ball Sun Fresh – Menu with Prices – 241 S 18th St, Kansas City

Typically I do my grocery store at a downtown market, as I am irresponsible with money and value convenience over dollars. HOWEVER, I am trying to change. Step one? Find a new, somewhat nearby grocery store. And that is how I ended up at this particular Sunfresh. And I dig it. This is a grocery store clearly geared towards a Hispanic population. When I visit this store, I feel like a cultural anthropologist. OK, that might be somewhat hyperbolic, but I definitely felt like I was having an adventure of discovery. The produce section is chock full of fruits and vegetables that i had never even heard of. The meat counter has all kinds of cuts I’d never found at my regular store. They have a giant tortilla making machine! Let me put it this way, I really enjoyed my trip to this store! Who knew grocery shopping could be so much fun! But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. They also didn’t have a few things that I regularly like to buy. For example, no muenster cheese makes me a sad Yelper. Also, I expected the prices to be a bit lower. Honestly, I don’t feel that I saved all that much money. Certain items were in fact noticeably more expensive. Ultimately, this is a grocery store, so it’s not a place I’d say you HAVE to visit. But if it’s at all in your area, I say stop in and check it out. Oh, and they sell pinatas. You’re welcome.

Pusan Sushi – Menu with Prices – 10780 Fairfax Blvd, Fairfax

NOTE: I am not reviewing any sushi platters this place makes. Those may be good. Review: I have no idea how this place gets 4.5 stars. I was looking for a sushi joint at about 2:30PM one afternoon and should have known most would be closed at that time. The initial restaurant I went to was close by and unfortunately closed. When I found this place on Yelp, (labelled as a restaurant) I figured I was in luck. I passed by H-Mart wondering where this place was until I realized the address was H-Mart. OK, bad sign, but it got 4.5 stars!! It’s gotta be decent. Here’s what you get: sushi in a plastic covered tray that you can buy in any grocery store off of the shelf. I was in a rush and hungry so I got some anyways. It was actually worse than I thought because it was clearly OLD sushi that had been sitting there since who knows when. You know when you eat fish and it’s dried out… yes it’s clearly old. In general, if you’re foolish enough to buy grocery store sushi sitting on a shelf, then you shouldn’t be surprised by the poor quality but I have to admit that this was pretty bad even by poor standards. I have nothing against this place, but I don’t want others to be fooled. The other reviewers giving this place 4 to 5 stars for sushi (not talking about the platters) either are friends of the joint or have no clue as to what fresh fish is.

Saint Sebastian Parish – Menu with Prices – 5400 W Washington Blvd, Milwaukee

This place puts the “neighbor” in “neighborhood” in the best way. Your meal is cooked by parish volunteers and delivered by parish school kids – if you live nearby chances are that you’ll know many of the people here! St Seb’s is a Westside classic church fish fry – the kind that used to be everywhere but is fast disappearing. It’s family style, cheap, tasty, filling and there’s even a salad bar! Literally everyone in walking distance seems to show up so come early or expect a wait to park or eat. Personally, I just can’t do the MKE FFF (Milwaukee Friday Fish Fry if you’re front out of state) because I worked a popular FF place in high school and it scarred me for life. I was quite happy with the salad bar and $3 beers and the Mister loves the fish. If you live nearby, cone in and hang with the neighbors. If you don’t – well, come over and try some tasty fish and make new friends!
