I asked for the brand of this coffee in New York City at Maison Kayser and I discovered how good it was.

Christopher Elbow Chocolates – Menu with Prices – 1819 McGee St, Kansas City

Christopher Elbow is a higher end chocolatier in the U.S. We’ve mail-ordered from them numerous times since 2012 and finally visited their Kansas City main office last year. A perfectly decent and civilized chocolate experience, but certainly not the best or the most creative by any means. We continue to order from them from time to time when they have sales, but it is never our first choice. Expect to pay $2.00 – $3.00 per piece for most of their products – the going standards for this level of quality. 5 stars is only appropriate for folks who are used to Hershey’s, M&M Mars, Inc. and other franchised schlock made in the billions, full of preservatives, and covered in wax. For discerning individuals who have been around the chocolate block and back again, Christopher Elbow is a solid 4 stars, not more. For Yelpers interested in other comparable (and often better) confections, try: Norman Love Confections (Florida), Mariebelle (New York), Vosges (Illinois), Jacques Torres (New York), Maison du Chocolate (New York), Woodhouse (California) William Dean (Florida), Moonstruck (Oregon), Chocolatier Blue (California), Recchiuti (California), Fran’s (Washington State), John & Kira’s (Pennsylvania), among so many others.

Ramonâ??s Tailor Artist Salon – Menu with Prices – 628 Jones St, San Francisco

Best kept little secret next to Jones, another best kept little secret of a bar (my second favorite in the city, because of its name), in the middle of tenderloin. I hosted a get together at the Armory Club and my gf went to it, and then came to Jones with me, and she said, “And to think you could have had it at Jones.” And to think, I could also have popped on by at Ramon’s, just next door… Sick and tired of the usual suspects and wanted something that reminds you the city is a city and not the burbs? Come here. This is not Chelsea, but this could be the Meat Packing district in the making, just like Mission was like the West Village once was. You will notice my analogies will always be New York. San Francisco is a gentler version of New York City. It is not my first love like New York but it is the longest love affair I have ever had to-date. And if you know me, I value ever lasting love affairs. Others enjoy the thrills of discovering something / someone new, I dwell on and flourish in affairs across decades. As a wise GF once said, they don’t make new “old friends” any more. A small gallery like this one serves as a reminder why I love this little city so much, even with an older lover, you can still discover plenty of new. This little gem reminds us, the city is in transition, and romance is not dead, not even in Tenderloin. Go to it: Heavenly Walk exhibit is on. Ask the artist about her journey in this besieged neighborhood, now perhaps the last remaining neighborhood that is experiencing gentrification, ever so slowly. You must.

Corner Coffee Camden – Menu with Prices – 4155 N Thomas Ave, Minneapolis

It’s a weird combo of coffee and church but my opinion has nothing to do with the church part of it as I know nothing about it. My review is simply on the coffee side. I’m a huge coffee lover. I’ve always been a big fan of Starbucks or Caribou or Dunn Bros, however…Corner coffee is by far the best coffee I’ve ever had. I don’t know if it’s the brand of coffee or what but my iced lattes are AMAZING! You can’t find better coffee in the twin cities. The price of the coffee is a bit high but I’m okay with paying extra for delicious coffee. For example, I believe that the largest size at Corner Coffee (for my iced lattes) is the same as a grande size at Starbucks. There are 2 reasons for 4 stars as opposed to 5… 1. They also serve ice cream (which I was excited to learn) but it’s Kemps brand. I can get that at the grocery store. I was told that they had BomBon gelato but the sign was turned around when I was there so I assumed they were out (idk). It would be nice if they had Izzy’s or all BomBon or Bridgemans ice cream (just something of higher quality than Kemps). 2. The service isn’t bad but the 2 times I’ve been in, it wasn’t anything to rave about. They took my order and gave me my coffee…not a hello or thanks or anything but they weren’t rude or anything. There’s friendlier service at the larger chain coffee shops. All in all, if you love coffee then you have to try this place out!

Walmart Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2711 Elm St, Erie

ended up walking out of Walmart today. I go in there to get sugar free French vanilla creamer and they have absolutely none but their own brand. And I say well and move on and look for spaghetti. Everyone else’s brand was much higher than Walmart’s brand and even higher than supermarket stores around Walmart. So I say forget that one as well. I move on and go look for alcohol pads. I get over there again no other brand except Walmart brand available. Walmart brand alcohol pads are no good additionally it was a very small box for the price. So I walked out. It’s come to the point where they push all of their stuff at a normal price and higher all of the name brands so you feel pressured to buy theirs in order to save money.

Blue Smoke Cigar Bar – Menu with Prices – 2440 FL-580 #13a, Clearwater

I was down in Clearwater on business & after reading the reviews I went to Blue Smoke Cigar. I saw and picked out a few nice smokes they had and had a seat.Someone picked up on my New York accent and started a conversation with me.. The guy said his name was Peter and he seemed pretty creepy so I distanced myself..He kept talking to me and asking me questions about playing cards and why I was still living up in New York City.. he then asked me out of the blue ” are you married” ? I said listen buddy, I’m here for a few days on business (and not to be rude I put on my phone and started playing with it) & didn’t want to get into an argument with him.. He then told me that he told me that he was a retired NYPD lieutenant. I was about two minutes from leaving the place because this guy was on me like white on rice. He then proceeded to tell me that he owns three condos down in Clearwater ( why,I have no clue).. He then said to me ” you know that I’m gay & if I can help you out anyway he would be very discreet about it”.. I walk to the door waves of the individual behind the counter and that will never go back to that place. If you do go to this place the individual is about 6 feet tall, bald 275 pounds and should be avoided..Very nice establishment yet one creepy person can destroy everything

The Nut House – Menu with Prices – 1115 Brighton Beach Ave, Brooklyn

Today when I happened to walk by, I discovered that it was opening day for The Nut House. You can already tell that it is going to be a popular store based on the quality of their products and their competitive prices that are far below those you’ll find in Manhattan! They have a huge selection of nuts (go figure!), dried fruits, specialty items (many from Turkey), very good coffee and friendly service! I also learned that the owner is the owner of a wholesale company named Green Mt Nuts, so he knows the nut business and is able to cut out the middleman and keep his prices low! Unlike many of the other stores on Brighton Beach Avenue, this store looks and feels brand new with bright lighting, air conditioning and a clean modern look. I’m already a fan!

New York Bakery Menu with Prices 10720 E Iliff Ave, Aurora

New York Bakery! Once again you SHINE Thru.. This time around with your GREEN TEA CAKE! My Oh My! It was indeed delicious, SUPER MOIST and the Icing Cream indeed MELT in my mouth! In between the two layers of the Green Tea Cake, New York Bakery, put slices of Peaches with the Buttercream Icing. My Oh My, thankfully, the Green Tea Cake is NOT as sweet, just I like it from my kind of Cakes… The Green Tea Cake got ALOT OF THUMBS UP especially from the Birthday Girl herself and all my friends who had it on Saturday evening, November 8th 2014. Genesis Coffee – Menu with Prices – 400 S Link Ln, Fort Collins

I need to write a review for this spot since I did not have a favorite coffee shop until just now. I just discovered this place almost by accident while traveling from the west coast. L.A. has an abundance of “cool” coffee shops that try hard to have character but lack the substance that creates it. I honestly lost my intrigue for independent coffee shops since being there, which is why I stumbled upon this gem mostly by accident. Every coffee on the menu here has a rich flavor and backstory. I’m not a coffee connoisseur by any means, but these guys clearly are in the most lighthearted and unpretentious way. The coffee love is contagious and I’m so happy I walked in here today ?

Yuzu Asian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 12 McGovern Ave, Lancaster

I’ve been looking for good sushi since moving here over two years ago from New York, obviously there I could find sushi everywhere and most of it very good quality due to the fast turnover and freshness being near New York City. I finally tried this place last night and I’m sure glad I did. The only reason I hesitated trying it this long was it’s not really classified as a sushi restaurant, instead it’s an Asian cuisine restaurant and that kind of scared me off thinking it wouldn’t be very good. Well it was excellent, my wife and I tried a couple salads, a Kani salad which was a little bland, definitely needed some flavor but the seaweed salad was excellent. We also tried the fried aged tofu, that was not enjoyable at all, tofu was way too wet so it was very soggy once fried. I also asked if they had hamachi kama, Which is a tuna collar or the portion just behind the head, it was not on the menu but I was told they do sometimes have it and did last night, That was outstanding!!! We also did three rolls, the Friday roll, spicy tuna roll and spider roll, all three were presented very nicely and tasted amazing. Jessica, who I’m assuming is an owner, served us and she was extremely friendly and definitely knows how to run a restaurant. I will be back many many times I’m sure.

Legacy Chocolates – Menu with Prices – 141 4th St E, St Paul

I was on a recent work trip in St. Paul and discovered this little gem while sniffing out a decent cup of coffee. A local recommended this place and a great recommendation it was. I stopped every day during my week in the city. First, the coffee. Each cup made fresh upon order – in pour over style. It’s takes just a hair longer but really worth the wait. I tried the Legacy Blend (medium roast) and loved it so much I ordered some online once I got home. Second, the chocolates. Unbelievably good. The truffles were amazing and the brownie selection to die. My favorites included the caramel truffle and the walnut brownie. There were other baked goods that I didn’t have a chance to try. Lastly, Customer Service was impeccable and prices very reasonable. Especially for the quality. Do yourself a favor – visit.

Cafe Coffee Services – Menu with Prices – 5103 Kingston Pike, Knoxville

Judy Gardner is such an amazing women. I absolutely love shopping in her clothing boutique. I adore her clothes that she buys in New York City and I will continue to get my unique & reasonably priced clothing from her.

Blanchard’s Coffee Roasting Co. – Menu with Prices – 1903 Westwood Ave, Richmond

LOVE this roasting warehouse! Blanchard’s has quickly become my favorite brand of coffee since moving to RVA last summer. The variety in flavors and beans is really exceptional and such good quality. Normally, I pick up a bag at either Stella’s grocery or Whole Foods (although its about $2 more expensive at the latter so I’ll only get it there if I’m in a pinch) – but coming to the roasting warehouse just can’t be beat. If nothing else, the aroma alone of all the beans roasting is worth coming to this location for. They usually have some brewing on site that you can help yourself to for free. Really nice! Since this is the main “hub” for Blanchard’s, they have far more varieties than some of the vendors that sell this brand around town. I’ve tried the holiday flavor and the Dark as Dark. The Dark as Dark is my favorite, so rich in flavor and has a very smoky and smooth taste. I love that other local businesses around town sell Blanchard’s either by the cup or by the bag. Stella’s grocery actually grinds their espresso beans which is heavenly in a latte. All in all, just really love this brand. Their insta is filled with fun content about how to brew their coffee, events, and special releases. Can’t wait to try more varieties! If you’re a coffee lover, this place is for you!
