You’re going to have to work to find this one but depending on your food desires it might be worth it. Imbedded deep in the back of the newly renovated Starlight Casino – head to the poker room and take a sharp right at the slots. It’s a noodle house with dine in and take out options. Traditionally Chinese — this place features a range of meals from soups to chow mein with a kiss of Thai options for spice. The decor is warm, blonde woods with splashes of Asian colour. Nicely done and relatively quiet given that it’s in the middle of a Casino! I ordered the BBQ Pork wonton soup and watched as it was prepared in the open kitchen. Not sure about you but I like being able to see where my food is prepared — makes me feel safer. The soup is not inexpensive at $12 but it’s a good size bowl and filling. The broth itself is a bit bland but the noodles and BBQ pork were tasty. Satisfying and served with a smile. I’d give the place a try if you’re in the mall or in the casino. Not sure I’d make a special trip here but it’s a good alternative to some of the mall offerings and hey — it’s not a buffet! You’ll save 10% if you have a Casino card which is free at the front desk. The casino boasts three other restaurants- Match, Atlas and of course a buffet. I’ll try them all eventually. Stay tuned!

Jade Garden – Menu with Prices – 4801 Outer Loop, Louisville

As typical in any mall food court in America you come across a choice of 2 different Oriental inspired restaurants offering you a free sample on toothpick to try and rope you in. My decision simply came in to that I was looking for some variety and they were currently offering the plating buffet style. After actually getting into the Buffet though, I wished I had paid a little closer attention to the overall selection of the buffet. It was not the most wide variety of flavors or options. Alot of the choices that were up on the buffet looked like they had been there for awhile and were dry or overcooked. There were several options listed that had not yet been refilled, and the staff stated they were not making any more for the day… Now this was 3 hours before the mall closed, so seemed a bit early to be shutting down options. I get to the check out and order a drink and pay for my food. As I am trying to make my choice the first 2 items I try are both out, so I ask the worker and he just looks clueless, before the worker at the other side of the buffet line says that the machine is broken, and they aren’t selling drinks. This is after I had already paid for the drink! Not the best choice in this particular mall if you are looking for Oriental.

Sandia Resort & Casino Menu with Prices 30 Rainbow Rd, Albuquerque

This review is primarily for the dining establishments located at Sandia Casino. The options for food are limited in my opinion and the quality of the food is poor. The Pa Shur Deli and Roadrunner Grill are my least favorite places to eat. The burgers are average for the price, the fries are not good, the red chile used in the Mexican options is way too salty, the fish tacos are terrible (not even sure they use real fish, they’re like nuggets, very strange), the steak street tacos were fatty, the breakfast burritos and bowls are not good, eggs overcooked and bacon not fresh or burnt,…I’ve had many other items hoping to find something edible, but it’s either too salty, or just not prepared well at all. Next, I have tried the Tuesday buffet with a friend twice and both experiences were underwhelming. Tuesday they offer a “2 for Tuesday” deal. The salad bar is terrible in that they only offer a “spring mix” or romaine lettuce, why no iceberg and/or spinach? Toppings very limited as well. Asian options not very good except the egg rolls. Pulled pork was dry and not good, pasta is mushy and sauces don’t look appetizing. Fried chicken was ok, mac n cheese also ok. Mexican food very salty. Dessert options are the best thing there. Last week I tried a panini from the coffee spot and the girl told me the oven to warm it was off (not sure why) so she had to heat it up in the microwave…terrible! $8.50 panini that was nearly inedible because microwaved food is terrible. The Council Room also a below average dining option. Chicken sandwich was very dry, burger not prepared as ordered, they used wilted lettuce on our wedge salad, fish n chips not great. Cannot give my opinion about the upstairs fine dining restaurant because I have no desire to spend a lot of money and chance having a poorly prepared meal. I do know that the views from up there are beautiful though. Considering this is probably the highest volume casino & resort in the Albuquerque area, they seem to not care about their food & beverage department nor the customers. Hire some real chefs & cooks please that actually take pride in making their food even if it’s a $2 burger. I spend a lot of time playing poker in this casino and really wish the food was better and had more healthy options. Also, very surprised there isn’t an Asian restaurant or something other than fried and salty foods.

Assembly Line Buffet – Menu with Prices – 2901 Grand River Ave, Detroit

I like the buffet, I think the Chef’s efforts are noticeable and I give them credit for the variety, presentation, and some items are quite good. I had a variety of experiences in the buffet. My first experience was being greeted by the sweetest hostess. She is a patient and kind greeter and I wish I had her name to mention. At the buffet, I asked someone behind the counter if they had spaghetti or other noodles besides small noodles that I don’t think holds sauce well. She answered that they just got a new noodle machine and they didn’t know how to use it, but as the customer, you can clearly see long noodles. The pasta was ok, the sauces were basic and nothing stood out. Some of the pizzas were good, some were a bit dry. I really wanted fish and chips and they had some. I think if they were freshly made, they would have been better. They were not crisp and had a spongy consistency. That was disappointing. The Asian choices were both good and not impressive. Their honey shrimp is crispy and on the sweet side. The egg rolls are tasty as well. The beef lomein was just ok, poor sauce to noodle ratio, resulted in being, again, dry. The sushi is just ok, not because I don’t think they try. It’s a slightly odd rice and doesn’t have a hand rolled flavor or texture. They arrange it all nicely and they have a variety of condiments. The desserts are pretty darn good. Some of the desserts have glorious frosting and moist cakes. I think the buffet is good, but they can do better. It can be more special and have a little more flair and wow! It’s on the basic side. But, it certainly isn’t a bad choice if you want a lot of options and have comfortable surroundings and a casual vibe.

River Cree Resort & Casino – Menu with Prices – 300 E Lapotac Blvd, Edmonton

So I am making a review for the buffet at the river cree casino, first time ever going was yesterday..so I had my Hope’s set a bit high ..my fault..I was expecting a way better buffet since I have heard how amazing this place was…the people I must have been talking to must have been drunk because from the food to service to how clean the restaurant was I wouldn’t recommend this place to anybody just the buffet.. I cant talk about the rest of the place, the service was horrible, to get a refill it must come out of the waitresses tips, to get a dirty plate removed is almost impossible, yet they look at you from there little table acting like they are watching out for you when they are not!, and the host guy is super awkward and so is the manager I am guessing, Best buffet in Edmonton is buffet royal. Again if you want a buffet you have the whole city of Edmonton to pick from avoid this place so you wont be disappointed!

Double Greeting Chinese Snack House – Menu with Prices – 355 McDermot Ave, Winnipeg

Haven’t been for a long time til recently. Wonton noodle soup (has pork & shrimp in wontons), noodles with spicy shredded pork, noodles with green onion & ginger, and steamed pork buns are all still very good. Atmosphere is old and basic, owners are friendly, quality is good.

Genghis Khan Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 24506 Lyons Ave, Newhall

Not a bad experience overall. Ghengis Khan was a definite hole in the wall that was hard to find and humble in appearance, but the friendly staff and some good food options made this a solid experience overall. You’ll recognize many of the offerings from other Mongolian BBQs – frozen thin rolls of beef, pork, chicken, and for some reason, turkey; orangey noodles; sauces you combine yourself. But there were a few that surprised me – Chinese black beans and bok Choy, to name a few. The thinly-sliced meats with the variety of vegetables made for a pretty tasty stir fry, even though I’m not sure I chose the optimal mix of sauces. They have a small buffet line that’s included if you get all you can eat, and I wasn’t going to, but the spicy cucumber salad was enough to convince me. It could’ve been a little more thoroughly pickled, but I enjoyed it overall. The only other things I tried from the buffet line were the paper wrapped chicken – not sure what parts were used here but the flavor was good – and the chicken wings, which were solid but unremarkable. The soups that come with both the single bowl and buffet meals didn’t seem terribly fresh by the time we were there, and the egg flower soup was strangely orangey compared to its normal color. On the good side of things was the sesame bread they included, which was soft and chewy. I’m not in Newhall often, but coming here was a nice change and I found a few items I really liked.

Michie Tavern ca. 1784 – Menu with Prices – 683 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville

This review is more for the 1784 Pub at Michie Tavern rather than the buffet. Although we had originally planned on eating at the buffet, it frankly did not look very good or worth $20/person. As others mention, the selection is very limited. When we got there it was about a half hour from closing and the food was low. It also did not look very appetizing. The BBQ pork looked more like soup. Everything else looked like standard buffet fare. I’m not a fried chicken person so can’t speak for that, but it also did not look great. One of the staff mentioned that the pub next door would begin serving food when the buffet closed, so we tried that. We were glad we did. Although it did not have regular meals, there was enough on the menu to fill us up. Bites included pigs in blankets, pretzel bites, BBQ pork sliders, Virginia ham and biscuits, potato wedges, and more. We had all of these and they were pretty good. The atmosphere is also quite historic. Although the total price wasn’t much lower than the buffet, the variety was better. I would recommend the Pub for a good place to stop late in the afternoon if you’re in the area and hungry. Buffet doesn’t look worth it or very good.

Delaware Park Race Track – Menu with Prices – 777 Delaware Park Blvd, Wilmington

Good food, good music and some nice host. . But some of the people who are in charge of host and casino are rude and very controlling of everything. I have been a V.I.P. at this casino for years. Once Delaware park was a favorite of mine. As soon as I had inserted my players card into the slot machine I was playing. It would only be a few minutes and a host would approach me and ask me if I needed anything. Sometimes giving me up to 150 dollars food comp for myself and another to have a great meal on casino. They would invite me to events and dinners give us cruise line tickets and was always very nice to me and my guests. They made me feel like a V.I.P. But that was then. I don’t get invited to anything lately. I don’t get the cruises or gifts like before. And because the one in charge has put a note on my account that I am not allowed to even get a 10 dollar food comp without her approval. Now to me. Being a V.I.P. at Delaware park casino is not good like it once was. Now I feel that being a V.I.P at Delaware park casino makes me a target. Things need to change for the better. And I hear some of the other V.I.P.,s who are not happy with Delaware park casino also complaining a lot.

Beijing Noodle – Menu with Prices – 1005 W Stuart St, Fort Collins

Do yourself a favor and go here! I’ve never been to China, but it does seem to be very authentic and fresh. They make delicious noodle dishes and the staff are very helpful and accommodating. They do seem to listen to customer suggestions and will leave something out or add more of something if you ask. I also love the summer menu. The cool noodles matched with fresh veggies is refreshing on a hot summer day. The beef is different than I’m used to, but still very tasty. Just the right amount of salt in this dish, but if you want more they will include more sauce. For colder days I like the oil spill noodles for a good amount of spice (both heat and flavor) and lots of tasty pork. They definitely don’t skimp on the portions here. One bowl will probably fill you up because there’s almost an equal amount of pork to noodles. They also give you a ton of dumplings (which, if I remember correctly, are freshly made along with the noodles?). I’ve also tried the tea egg and Chinese hamburger and enjoyed both. The pricing is also incredibly reasonable. I love this place and I hope it manages to treat Fort Collins for a while!

Chile Ristra Menu with Prices 11000 Broadway Blvd SE, Albuquerque

The Isleta Casino and Resort is a good bet for a fun night out. Check their website to see when the top headliners are appearing at the casino. Lots of fun slots including new 3D games throughout the venue. There are also numerous choices for grabbing a snack. Attached to the Casino is Embers Steak House, great food! Conveniently, it’s right off I-25 and rt 47.

Volcano Soon Tofu – Menu with Prices – 2001 Coit Rd #300A, Plano

I don’t know why this place has such good reviews on here. I went here myself and let me tell you it was not as good as it looks. I usually don’t give bad reviews but I will give you my honest experience. I came here during lunch time with a family member and we both had tofu soup. I had the mushroom and spicy pork combo, and the other person had pork tofu. First off, I could tell the server was flustered. The restuarant was probably 50% or less full when we were dining. Our food came out and it was both the wrong type of soup. The server place the dishes in front of us and was making a mess. I saw the soup just swishing out of our bowls onto the table as she placed it down in front of us and she didnt even clean up the mess. Even though it was not much spill over, it was still a spill. I have no problem cleaning it up myself, but I mean for restuarant service, it is just something you should do as a service automatically. She says the dish is what we ordered but when we both actually stirred our soup around, the contents was all wrong. I recieved a seafood tofu soup instead of mushroom and the other girl got beef instead of pork. We had the server take it back to get the correct order. Presentation was sloppy as the seasoning they use was all over the top and sides of the bowl and the broth was all over the handles as well. What a mess. The soup was really bland and honestly not even worth my trip. The only reason I gave them some stars is bc the spicy pork was actually good, but for a place that is specializing in tofu soup and not having it good is just a straight up disappointment. Never coming here again.

Bing’s Dumplings ?? – Menu with Prices – 34360 Fremont Blvd, Fremont

10 minute waiting list time during the lunch rush, food arriving at the table in less than 5 minutes, delicious and piping hot food to enjoy. What’s not to love about Bing’s!? We were initially nervous since the waiting list was 6+ groups in front of us, but lucky for us people left so we only waited ~10 minutes for a group of 4. One we were seated they have menus for you to mark how many of each item you want. Their menu is extensive but also somewhat limited so you don’t get too distracted on what you should get. For our first time we ordered: + Potstickers + Wontons in Chili Oil + Braised Noodle Soup + Hand Pulled Noodles in Spicy Oil & Ground Pork + Pork Soup Dumplings + Pork & Crab Soup Dumplings + Custard Buns Everything we ordered was delicious. The beef in the noodle soup was tender, filling in the wontons/XLB were not dried and had plenty of soup to drink up, potstickers were perfectly crisp with a sesame coating, and the handpulled noodles were chewy and had a great consistency. The oils were not overpowering and the dishes did not taste bland or overly salty. The custard buns were a great way to end the meal and were just the right amount of sweet filling and chewy bun. I was shocked at how quick Bing’s cleans the tables, takes orders, and serves food. They are a machine here! After this first visit I would definitely come back due to the quick service, delicious food, and portions with the prices. If you enjoyed your visit you can also take bags of wontons to go to enjoy at home.
