To be honest, I’m not too crazy about the quality of their chocolate (or gelato), but I come here when I need a small local gift. Also, they are open 7 days a week and are open late too. So, it’s convenient. They have quite a few different kinds of truffles, and many of them come in dark and milk chocolate. It IS expensive, but for about $11, you can get a box of 4 truffles of your choice, which I think is acceptable. Their current price list (as of February 2018): Individual truffles -$2.35 per truffle Truffles in a box -1truffle: $3.45 – 2 truffles: $5.95 – 4 truffles: $10.65 – 8 truffles: $21.75 – 16 truffles: $39.95 – 32 truffles: $76.75 – 64 truffles: $143.00 You can choose a color of your box and of your ribbon. ****************************** If you found something useful in my review, please hit “useful” so that I can improve my reviews. XOX Truffles – Menu with Prices – 754 Columbus Ave, San Francisco

This quaint chocolate shop and cafe are one of the best little gems in North Beach and San Francisco overall! The window promos the shop as one of the best artisanal chocolates in the nation….and it’s no joke! This humble, little shop is manned by professional, French folks who specialize in their craft and their work really speaks for itself. I’ve tried pretty much of all their truffles, even the flavors I wouldn’t normally try. While I do have my favorites (dark chocolate, earl grey, mango), I have to say that each and every piece I’ve tried was delicious. I’ve also tried their truffles with their coffees and their hot chocolate (bitter), their drinks go really well with their truffles and are good enough on their own! Love the richness of their hot chocolate….interested in trying their Mexican hot chocolate and the white hot chocolate. I will most definitely be back for more!

Adirondack Chocolatier – Menu with Prices – 2269 First St, Fort Myers

I stopped in on my trip to Ft. Myers and tried some of their chocolate. It is a cozy little shop with taffy, truffles, chocolate bark, and other chocolate covered treats. I tried the cookies and cream bark which was great and an assortment of truffles. The raspberry with white chocolate was pretty good but I think the Key Lime Truffle in white chocolate is definitely one to try. It was rich but had a tart key lime center- the perfect Florida candy.

Huntington House, LLC – Menu with Prices – 5200 Huntington Ave, Newport News

This review is for their chocolate truffles where I did a bulk order for delivery to several recipients. Everyone that received them loved the taste of the truffles. This business is located in Newport News but most folks that received the truffles were on the Southside section of Hampton Roads. The process was easy. I decided on what I wanted to order, gave Robin and her team the addresses, and my hands were clean on getting these all delivered. This was a great spring/Mother’s Day gift to many women I do business with. All were grateful for the gesture and the folks at Huntington House made me look great. If you’re looking to make one or several people happy with a nice dessert/treat, I highly recommend Huntington House. The fact that they offered a delivery service made giving gifts so much easier!

Kakawa Chocolate House – Menu with Prices – 1050 Paseo De Peralta, Santa Fe

I was so excited to visit Kakawa Chocolate House and, though the experience itself was fun, the hot chocolate and chocolate truffles definitely aren’t your run of the mill stuff. I appreciate that the staff immediately asked me if I had been before, and when I said no, gave me several samples of the hot chocolate so I could pick which one I wanted with confidence. That was a huge thing for me and is the reason I’m giving three stars instead of two. Generally, all of the chocolates are much less sweet than we’re likely used to, but I liked how the lax of sweetness showcased the flavor of the cocoa. That being said, I had the tiny mug with whipped cream and can’t imagine stomaching a large mug. The truffles are unique and gorgeous, but, again, the flavors concentrate more on the cocoa and less on the sweetness. I found the raspberry truffle quite bitter, but thought the goat cheese truffle was a bit more palatable and enjoyable. Overall, Kakawa offers a unique experience where you can try native and meso American chocolates and elixirs, but, sadly, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re tasty.

Chocolate & Espresso Coffee Bar – Menu with Prices – 401 Central Ave, St. Petersburg

4.5 stars. (I deducted 1/2 star due to pricing.) Delectable chocolates (milk, dark, white & sugar free), but pricey. The lovely French woman (co-owner) w/ the beautiful accent could not have been nicer. All the chocolates are made on site. The chocolate molds hang on a wall. Coffees are available. There are two metal tables out front if you wish to sit & sip. (See pic.) There are musical chocolate molds as well as many others including adult molds; you’ll need to request to see the risque chocolates (which are labeled “adult chocolates”). If it’s a special occassion, you can select whatever color curling ribbon you want to complement the box of chocolates. I purchased a 1/2 lb. box of sugar-free chocolates to give as a gift (see pic), but didn’t request special ribbons. The chocolates cost just shy of $24. If you have the money for excellent chocolate & love buying local while receiving great service, you’ll want to stop here.

Christophe’s Macaron et Chocolat – Menu with Prices – 1901 Ashley River Rd #2a, Charleston

My husband and I found this place by accident. We walked in and saw so many tastes desserts to choose from. They had single chocolates, regular desserts, and prepackaged desserts. They also serve dessert drinks like hot chocolate or coffee. We got the apple pastry and the chocolate Raspberry mousse. Both are very large and we could get desserts for two nights eating them. All of the desserts are made in this location. They have a window set up so you can watch them make the desserts during the day. The guy hand PAINTS the truffles with an airbrush style. I could not believe it. They looked like they were in a covering, but no it was just the chocolate. They have no indoor seating and a few tables outside to sit at. However, it was chilly so we didn’t sit outside. I am sure we will go back as a cute date when it is warmer. I am so glad we found this place.

Andy’s Ice Cream & Candy Co – Menu with Prices – 1538 W Ridge Rd, Rochester

There are several of these nifty candy stores spread around Rochester so I’m surprised no one really talks about them. Maybe this is because the stores pop up on occasion and then disappear as if they never existed? Possibly. Anyways, Andy’s Candies mostly specialises in chocolate. What kind of chocolate you ask? The three main types to start out with (White, Milk and Dark) in addition to other varieties such as peanut and almond. Soft or hard chocolate? Yes, Andy’s has that too. What I like about Andy’s is that the chocolate comes in many different forms and styles. In here, you can find the traditional chocolate bars and box of truffles, nothing wrong with the classics. However, you can also get chocolate in the shape or letters, hearts, lollipops, money and even cars! Solid Milk Chocolate Porsche? Gladly! You can find this hidden gem sandwiched between Toys R Us and Davinci but you’ll have to squint to see the sign, it is hard to miss. It’s a good size store inside and all the chocolate is on full display on open shelves so browsing is easy. There is usually only one associate at the register but she can help you find any piece you are looking for with no worries so if you need a recommendation or can’t find that special piece, she’ll help you to the best of her ability. On the downer, it can get a bit pricey here depending on which candies you choose. The bigger pieces will carry a bigger price tag but it isn’t ‘break the bank’ amounts. Overall, I enjoy Andy’s Candies and encourage many to delight in the candy as much as I have. II hope this store doesn’t go under like the rest but I just can’t be certain. Give it a visit, even if you don’t buy anything. Did I mention the delicious caramel corn? They have that too!

DeBrand Fine Chocolates – Menu with Prices – 10105 Auburn Park Dr, Fort Wayne

This is our absolute favorite chocolate shop. We always get the milk chocolate turtles and individual pieces. They have a wide selection of milk chocolate and dark chocolate pieces with fillings, or you can get truffles. Everything we have ever had there has been delicious. This is my go-to for Christmas gifts as they ship all over the US and our families look forward to them every year. When we are on the shop, they have a menu for ice cream sundaes and other dessert food items. My favorite is the chocolate raspberry sauce but I like the peanut butter sundae too. They also have a separate room if you want to have an event there such as a bridal shower or birthday party. Make sure to ask if they have a daily trial piece because most often you can get a piece of their chocolate to try for free. Just remember, once you try this place no chocolate will ever compare. It’s pretty addictive.

Heritage Cafe – Menu with Prices – 614 S Crouse Ave #100, Syracuse

A cold Sunday afternoon in Syracuse. Looking for a good bite to eat before heading out of town. Heritage Cafe was the ticket! Tucked down below street level, this is a gem. Small coffee-type shop with a mix of comfortable lounge chairs, high-top counter seating and tables. Had a half sandwich lunch special. Chicken cutlet with bacon and ranch panini. Perfect amount of food. Perfectly prepared sandwich. Chips and home-baked chocolate chip cookie rounded it out. A nice variety of baked goods and confections too. Left with two “truffles.” In quotes, because these are truffles on steroids! Basically balls of cookie dough (the size of an ice cream scoop) dipped in dark chocolate. Heavenly combination of cookie dough with a hard chocolate shell. So generous that I had to split it with someone else to finish it. Now I have a place to go back to next time I visit Syracuse!

Capital Confections – Menu with Prices – 2605 El Paseo Ln, Sacramento

I go here when I get a craving for a chocolate truffle immediately. (If I think ahead I order online from Moonstruck Chocolates in Portland.) Sometimes the truffles are very fresh, sometimes they taste like they’ve been in the store too long. I’d go there more often, but I find the owner annoying. My husband and I went there and the owner tried to get us to buy her spumoni. My father-in-law liked spumoni for some reason, but we have never cared for it. I said the first part of that sentence–quite politely–but forbore to say explicitly that we do not like spumoni. The owner was immediately all over us. “WHAT did you just say?” And she kept pushing, quietly but firmly, for us to retract that statement. The professional thing for her to say would be, “Oh, we have many other flavors of gelato. And lots of truffles too! Do look around, I’m sure there’s something here you’ll love.” Instead of pressuring me to conform to her extreme model of niceness.

Piefalootin – Menu with Prices – 2441 Goldfinch Ln, Garland

A love affair with pie! My first encounter with Piefalootin was a Butterscotch Chocolate pie at Goodfriends Burger. It was so good that my sister & brother in law sought out the baker & purchased a Piefalootin gift certificate for me for Christmas. What an awesome gift. You can choose from a wide variety of pies. Each pie is made special for you. They request a minimum 48 hour notice when ordering pies. Tracy (owner/baker) will bake your pie as close to pick up time as possible to provide you with a fresh pie. I think her tender & flaky homemade pie crust is the best I’ve ever had. Add to that, a rich & creamy chocolate filling with mounds of fresh homemade whipped cream & chocolates curls and you have what my family now considers the BEST CHOCOLATE CREAM PIE ever. Each pie comes in it’s own glass pan, bakery box & tied with a ribbon to match the occasion or theme. Our most recent pie was for my mom’s 83rd birthday & it came wrapped in a colorful bow. The pies easily serve 8-10 people. We can’t wait to try the coconut cream pie. Wonder what it would take to get her to add a banana cream pie to the menu?

Decadence Chocolates – Menu with Prices – 70 Sherbrook St, Winnipeg

Decadence Chocolates is worth a visit. Their chocolate bars are amazing, especially the ones with the freeze-dried fruits and salted caramel. The quality of the chocolate is really high which means a smooth rich flavour. Their truffles are quite good too and very artistically represented. Iâ??ve not tried their ice cream but I hear itâ??s quite good. They do have seasonal chocolate products (e.g., Halloween, Christmas, etc.) and some novelty (and edible) items for purchase such as a chocolate high heeled shoe. They also have â??lake packagesâ? which are essentially combo deals you can pick up before you head up to the cabin if youâ??re looking for some higher quality treats. In any case, itâ??s worth a visit and a taste.
