Not to be confused with China Wok at Ralph’s, this place is located inside the small food court at AA Market. Prices are pretty reasonable and portions are decent. I didn’t order the combos, but got the family meal. Fried rice- not exactly the best. Rice was kind of dry. Chow Mein- yum. Better than the rice! Cabbage that hey put in was a bit undercooked though. Orange chicken- decent, but soggy. Broccoli beef- some broccoli was over cooked and some were just right. Beef is really tender and delicious- they do coat it in flour or something to make it soft. Curry chicken- the star of all I got. I believe his is a viet style curry with simple ingredients of chicken and potato. The chicken is cooked so long that it breaks apart when you pick it up. It is also flavorful. Ordered online via yelp eats, order was ready when I got there. Friendly service. Would come back again for the curry chicken!

Viña Del Mar – Menu with Prices – 89-52 146th St, Jamaica

This place is wonderful. It’s not fancy. It’s not exotic. It’s simple food, friendly service and locals only. I’ve been here twice so far, and every time leave stuffed, with food left on my plate, a sense of calm, and happiness. I’ve been coming here on my breaks from Jury Duty over the past two weeks, and I cannot believe no one else from the courts frequents this place. Mostly, I’ve had chicken, always with a tamarin drink. The first time, I tried the basic grilled chicken, which was simple, but juicy and perfectly cooked. It comes with basic salad and rice, and the lady gave me a side of tomato sauce (not Marinara, but a salsa-like fresh tomato sauce). Nothing itself screams at you, but it’s just well prepared, and hearty. My second time, I tried the stewed chicken, which was amazing. A-maz-ing. It’s a slow cooked chicken, with a bit of sauce, and falls off the bone. So tender! Oh my god. Mix it in with your rice, and this is heaven. Again, simple, home style cooking, which just hits the spot. This time I had a friend, and we split an order of Papusas, which came recommended. They were good, and I had not had them before. Sort of a heavy pancake, with meat and cheese in the middle. My friend has had better in Brooklyn, but said these were more authentic than most, and good. Already stuffed with stewed chicken, I only had a few bites, for fear of exploding. I’ll have to try them again. Their homemade tamarin drink is slightly sweeter than I normally like, but the thickness of it actually balanced out the sweet, and I couldn’t stop drinking it. It’s not too sweet, unlike fast food chains in the area. Try it, for sure. All in all, I highly recommend this place for a low key, delicious alternative to some of the less stellar places a black away, in front of the Court House. It hasn’t been packed during jury lunch breaks, and just hits the spot. Friendly service, simple, comforting.

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue – Menu with Prices – 854 S Boulder Hwy, Henderson

We have not been here for awhile but were in the mood for L&L this evening. I usually get the garlic shrimp and broccoli which I tried again tonight, along with a side of their mac salad. We also got the shrimp curry with rice. The shrimp in both entrees was the same, the difference was what they put on top. In the past the shrimp (plenty of them) were stir dried with the garlic and the broccoli all at once and was very tasty. Tonight we got the shrimp which was breaded (not my liking) with barely cooked garlic spooned on top. The broccoli was steamed I guess and sitting on the side where the garlic never touched it. This was a big let down! I really wanted that shrimpy-garlicy-broccoli goodness we used to get at L&L. As for the curry it smelled like curry. The shrimp the same battered and fried as in the meal described previously but the curry just poured on top. It was OK tasting? But not our idea of curry and it was rather bland. As for the mac salad, the noodles were mooshy and the taste bland. Something has changed in how they make it, clearly not the mac-salad we have come to know and like at L&L. We did not get our other usuals but based on the two we got tonight I am a bit hesitant to go back. I suppose we will give them a go again and order the chicken instead. We have liked L&L over the past 12 years or so that we have been going, tonight was a disappointment tho. It is till nice and clean inside, and the wait staff friendly so that has not changed. I feel bad giving them 3 stars.

THAI STREET Menu with Prices Broadway Market 1640, Aliceanna St #11, Baltimore

YUM! I am loving Broadway Market so much and was super excited that Thai Street was here since there isn’t much good Thai in Baltimore. Lots of different options and I’ve come multiple times so far: 1. Pad See Ew: noodles were super tasty–perfectly cooked, just soft enough but not too soft that they were disintegrating. Flavor of the sauce was really good, sweet and savory. I added pork to mine which was the only thing I disliked as the pork was pretty dry. Wished it also had some more vegetables, but would try again 2. Crab fried rice: I wasn’t expecting much from this dish but wow, the rice is packed with flavor. Decent amount of crab, but really, the rice is the star! A bit on the pricier side 3. This past Friday brought the Bike Party to Broadway Market, and for the event, Thai Street had a stall serving grilled chicken thigh with sticky rice. It’s not on the regular menu but it totally should be because this is my favorite dish so far that I’ve tried from Thai Street. The chicken is super tender, juicy, smokey from the grill, and marinated in an awesome sauce. Simple, but amazing. 4. Mango sticky rice: just a lovely dessert. Rice is perfectly cooked, mango is fresh and beautifully plated. Coconut milk is subtly sweet.

The Similans Thai Eatery – Menu with Prices – 13005 Lee Jackson Memorial Hwy, Fairfax

I had my first taste of Thai food 15 years ago: Pad See Ew with Beef at a Thai chain (which will remain unnamed), and my taste buds did somersaults at the first bite. But after 15 years of trying Thai here and trying it there, it began to taste about the same. Then came Similans. The best Thai I’ve had in years! On a recent snowy day, we ordered delivery – Pad See Ew with beef (can you tell this is my standard?), Hawaiian Fried Rice, Crispy Rolls, and Party Wings. Within an hour, the food was at our door and everything tasted fresh, hot, and absolutely delicious. The Pad See Ew is some of the best I’ve had in years. Every ingredient – rice noodles, Chinese broccoli, egg, and beef strips – is cooked perfectly on its own and together, the dish comes together beautifully. As many times as I’ve had this dish, it’d been a long time since I’d enjoyed like that. A must! The Hawaiian Fried Rice was a really nice surprise. The curry was light, not at all overpowering, which was important for a rice dish that already has a lot going on, packed with chicken, shrimp, pineapples, cashews, and veggies. A wonderful, comfort dish. The crispy rolls were as good as any you’d find elsewhere, but the wings were pretty special – crispy skin, tender meat, slathered in a sticky sweet and spicy sauce that begs you to lick your fingers. I may have just found my new Thai obsession.

Thai Kitchen Menu with Prices 3421 E Tudor Rd #A, Anchorage

I’m pretty bummed I have to write this but I wanted to share my lackluster experience here at TK. Let me start off by saying I used to love it here. My mom would take me here after she got off work at providence and it was a nice comfort food spot when I was younger. Today I stopped in for the lunch special. $11- seemed fair. I asked for the pad Thai- but was told it already had peanuts in it. A lot of places either put it on the side or don’t add it in till later. This should be a thing for a lot of people as people with allergies want to enjoy food too. I opened the box I was given and saw everything had barely been filled. What’s worse was the food was bland. I had the broccoli beef, yellow curry, and Thai basil chicken. The broccoli beef was not seasoned at all. The yellow curry was watery and not very curry like. And the Thai basil chicken literally was just chunks of old wet basil with poor cuts of chicken. What happened guys? I’ll come back once things are fixed. But for now, you’ve lost my business.

Sake Thai & Sushi Bar – Menu with Prices – 4401 Sheridan St, Hollywood

Been coming to sake thai on and off for over 7 years and I’d have to say in the past it was much better. The last few times have been disappointing to say the least. Last time I ordered vegetable red curry. When I got it, it was literally a soup with like some sliced up carrots and a piece of baby corn swimming in coconut curry milk. Like 95% soupy milk. I took it back and asked for more veggies, they chopped up a green pepper and added it and still not really the mixed vegetable curry I’m use to. I was expecting actual mixed vegetables and some curry milk but not 75% milk for $15. Then today I went and ordered a noodle with broccoli and tofu “pad see ew” and what I saw was “ew” it was basically noodles and tofu and what looked like some pieces of wilted spinach. Now I have ordered this dish many different Thai places and got some type of broccoli, usually like broccolini long and skinny type. I was expecting a variation of this type of broccoli or at least something that resembled typical broccoli. And I’ve even got it before at this place but probably several years ago. But when I got home with my take order order, I just saw like 99% tofu and noodles and 1% wilted green leaves. I thought ok, they forgot the broccoli which I was really looking forward to eating a vegetable with these noodles. So after calling 3 times and no pick up, I drove 5 minutes back to the restaurant and went to cashier and said you forgot to add the broccoli to my noodles and I showed her no broccoli. She was like,”oh I see the broccoli,” pointing to the wilted green leaves. I was like uh no that’s something like kale and she was like no it’s broccoli and I was like isn’t broccoli like a tree not a leaf?!? And she was like no, that’s chinese broccoli and I was like well I have been to other Thai places and they actually add broccoli. She was like well this is how we do it here. And I was like, ok I was expecting tree style broccoli…I’m disappointed but fine. So long story short, this place is Chen-chi when comes to adding vegetables to their meals. And don’t expect like regular broccoli if you see chinese broccoli and if you don’t want to be disappointed go to Siam Rice. They are much nicer too and know me by name and always ask how I am doing. And much more appreciative of your business. Second disappointing trip back to back at Sake, and not planning on returning.

MAKS Asian Kitchen & Sushi – Menu with Prices – 13650 Fiddlesticks Blvd #206, Fort Myers

We went to Maks with zero expectation and just the innate feeling of another foodie adventure. What we found was amazing! Maks brothers converted this Beef O’Brady in a Publix mall into very clean and trendy setting Asian kitchen with Sushi with excellent food! We tried for both lunch and dinner. For lunch, we’ve their Sushi lunch and Pad Thai with green tea. The Chicken Pad Thai was full of flavor and the Sushi lunch was made with very fresh spicy tuna and shrimp. The owner, Billy was not only busy preparing food but greeted everyone at the table and thank them for coming! The house salad is very refreshing and there is a genuine feeling of serving the best food with reasonable price. Wow, the service is prompt and professional! Fully satisfied with our lunch, we went back for dinner. Our dinner appetizers consist of spicy Garlic Edamame and Pan fried Gyoza. The seasoning with garlic, very light jalapeno added an extra kick to the steamed soy bean. Well done! The pork gyoza with ginger soy dipping was on point! We selected Mongolian Beef, Chicken Garlic Broccoli, Red Curry Chicken and Rainbow Rolls as our entrees. The Mongolian Beef was sautéed just right with onion, bell peppers, mushroom, scallion with a touch of Hoisin sauce. The Chicken Garlic Broccoli cooked with fresh and crunchy broccoli and a good touch of garlic. The Red Curry Chicken cooked with coconut milk, basil, broccoli, bamboo shoots and carrots were so good, you can pour your rice into the bowl to enjoy their mild curry taste! The Rainbow rolls with salmon, tuna, yellowtail, crab and avocado are our sushi delight! We were thinking about red bean or green tea ice cream but we were so full. No ice cream tonight! Definitely, there are other interesting items in the menu, we will try on our next visit. Needless to say, Maks is an excellent addition to the Fort Myers dining facility!

Mayflower Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 414 S Military Ave, Green Bay

We ordered a quart of chicken and vegetables and a pint of beef with curry sauce and an extra order of rice. The chicken and vegetables had a red sauce that wasnâ??t too bad but was different than what we thought. The quart container was all chicken and vegetables, the rice was in a separate container.. . However, the pint of curry beef had the rice filling most of the pint container so there was not much beef or vegetables. It did have curry that was difficult to taste but most of the flavor or heat came from red pepper flakes. Way too many pepper flakes!. .

Penang Delight Cafe Express – Menu with Prices – 3885 Rupert St, Vancouver

By now, you should know I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to Malaysian places. But you never know until you try a place right? We decided to check out Penang Delight Cafe with that in mind. They have a second location in Marpole. This PDC is located beside Aburi Sushi. We dropped in on a Thursday afternoon (around 12:30pm) and it was packed. Service is quick, efficient and they came by several times to refill our waters. The inside looks cramped but there’s additional seating in the hallway and in the back. There’s a lunch and regular/dinner menu. Lunch menu is split into start & share, rice and noodles. The dinner menu is another story; freaking massive. – Roti canai ($4.00) – crispy Indian style pancake served with a curry dipping sauce. For lunch, you can add this to your meal for $4.00. The roti canai itself was quite good and flaky. The curry sauce could have used more of a kick. – Curry laksa ($10.95) with beef brisket ($2.00) – yellow noodle and vermicelli, bean sprouts, fried tofu, boiled egg, fish cake and onions in a coconut curry broth. The broth was surprisingly satisfactory. Good creaminess and decent spice level to it. The beef brisket wasn’t worth the upgrade. I liked the two types of noodles but watch out for the potatoes; they were incredibly salty. – Hainese chicken rice ($11.95) – Hainese steamed chicken with chicken broth rice. It also came with a small bowl of soup (heavenly; think Chinese root vegetables) and three sauces to dip the chicken in (soya sauce, sweet chili sauce and ginger sauce). The chicken was tender, moist and juicy. The rice was even better; fragrant and so addictive. I debated whether to get a box to go for home. Finally found a passable laksa. I’d come back to try their bah kut teh and other Malaysian speciality dishes. 3.5 stars.

Boun’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4-208 Marion St, Winnipeg

The menu here is a bit confusing as this restaurant calls itself an “Asian” restaurant. So which country in Asia? Well, I’d say foremost it’s Laotian but Laos and Thailand share similar cuisine, so there is definitely the flavours and the heat of Thai food here. Then there’s a few Vietnamese dishes and then the random Chinese dishes. Prices are very moderate and fair as most starters are $3-9 and most shareable entrees are $10-$13. I tried 3 curry dishes and they were all delicious! Definitely come here and order a bunch of dishes and share family style as they will bring you a big bowl of rice. You can order dishes here ranging from a heat quotient from 1-10. I have a high tolerance to spicy foods and eat spicy foods often so a “7” is perfect for a good hit of heat as I could still taste the food and not down water like crazy. I would order an 8 or 9 next time to see what that’s like but I think 3 would be good for most palates if you don’t eat spicy food that often and don’t bother adding any heat if you can’t eat spicy at all. The “panang curry” ($10.95) with chicken has coconut milk curry with green peas and lime leaf had a great creamy texture but not a lot of complexity in the curry. Although I really enjoyed this dish, I preferred the other two curries more. The “basa curry” ($11.95) was recommended by the server and with good reason – it was so yummy! You can select red, green or yellow curry and I opted for yellow curry with a fillet of basa (a white fish) with vegetables. Amazing sauce – definitely try this one! The matsaman “potato curry” ($10.95) can be made with chicken, beef, pork or shrimp and is cooked in coconut milk curry with potatoes, nuts and basil. The beef in this dish was tender and flavourful – I really liked the crunch of the peanuts in this dish too. The restaurant is located near Lovey’s in the strip mall on Marion Street – there’s very limited parking here so you might have to park on the street but there’s plenty of free 1-2 hour parking on the street. The interior space here is bright, modestly decorated and clean. Food was prepared fairly fast and the service was very friendly and warm. A lovely place for lunch or dinner (plus some to take home if you order a few dishes to share).

Foodie Spot – Menu with Prices – 1032 Florin Rd, Sacramento

The food is awful. I guess I should’ve realized what I was in for when I saw the name. I even actually detoured as I was on my way to L&L but then noticed that this place is a Chinese restaurant (thought it would be a sandwich shop given the non-descriptive name). I like giving new Chinese restaurants a try so I headed on in. While I’m not sorry I gave them a shot, I AM sorry that the food was so bad. My go-to items to try out Chinese restaurants are their wor wonton soup and house fried rice (wor wonton soup because I love wor wonton soup and house fried rice because while I also love fried rice, house fried rice usually has a variety of protein so it’s a good way to try them all out at the same time). After learning that the house fried rice doesn’t include pork (and I was, mostly, ordering it for my husband, who loves pork and isn’t so fond of beef), I decided to order BBQ pork fried rice instead. I also got the wor wonton soup and a dinner combo of broccoli beef with pork fried rice (which, apparently, is just their shortcut way of saying BBQ pork fried rice). First, the wor wonton soup, while the broth was actually tasty, had a few pieces of chicken and limp leaves of napa cabbage, in addition to the wontons. That’s it. I’ve never had a wor wonton soup that was so bare; it seemed more like a wonton soup. I wasn’t impressed with the utter lack of anything else. The broccoli beef was watery and came with some rather light-colored, mushy pieces of beef. The broccoli was cooked nicely — not overdone. The beef didn’t seem to have much flavor. The fried rice was not good and rather tasteless. The small-diced BBQ pork didn’t seem to have any bearing on the rice. The restaurant was devoid of customers when I walked in so the counterperson only had me to wait on. She was quite friendly and did carry my food out to me when it was ready but, unfortunately, that’s not enough to render a positive review. The food was simply terrible. The good customer service and the fact that there’s actually one other Chinese restaurant with even worse food earned the second star (Panda Wok at the other end of Florin has the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had; however, the one time I went in there, it was packed with customers and a long line so I guess they have their own cadre of fans of their horrible food).

Bay House Bistro – Menu with Prices – 574 Bay St, Staten Island

So because my friend loves the beef and broccoli from this restaurant I decided to come with her. I ordered the lunch special chicken and broccoli with pork fried rice, the chicken was like rubber which could not be chewed. The waiter was attentive and said he would make me a fresh portion of the chicken. The pork fried rice was very good as well as the egg roll the lunch special came with. Sadly the new portion of chicken was also like rubber. 2 days later I decided to give it another try and ordered sweet and sour chicken I was surprised to see the chicken covered in sauce considering most places put it on the side. No big deal since it was much better than the chicken with broccoli option. Very nice staff seems empty to dine it but many take out orders for delivery.
