This iteration of Chef Redd’s BBQ is in the old Woody’s spot on N. Leg Road. Visiting there was complicated by the ongoing construction; it was difficult both getting into and out of the parking lot with both Wrightsboro and N. Leg in chunks. The addition of rain on the day I dropped in just added a level of complication and should serve as an indication of how much I like Redd’s food. Ironically, I did not get the que, but went for a smothered pork chop special. It was well seasoned; the meat was so tender and juicy that it cut with a plastic fork! Loved the cabbage and peas and their big flavors too. I did not wait long for my order and in the ten minutes that passed, the rain faded away into drizzles. My only disappointments during this visit was that the dessert I wanted was sold out and there wasn’t beer available (thus my decision to take out, rather than dine in). I usually wait until a second visit to a business or venue before posting a review on Yelp. Anyone can have an ‘off’ or ‘up’ night and consistency is important to me. We have been following Redd around for years now and have visited his food truck, restaurant and ‘pop up’ situations before. The meat is always good and smoky, the sides are generous and tasty and Redd is always smiling and personable. My supper cost around $10 (excluding tax). The ‘specials’ aren’t on the printed menus, so you’ll need to drop by and check them out. The restaurant is open, albeit a chore to navigate to right now, but I hope you decide to pay it visit and enjoy Redd’s food yourself.

Mac N’ Cheese Rebel – Menu with Prices – 5031 York Blvd, Los Angeles

This is a very interesting food truck. I genuinely enjoyed my Mac and cheese because when I usually eat Mac and cheese that’s vegan it’s noticeable. However, this truck knows how to mask the “cheese” to taste like real cheese. I got the collard greens toping and the fake meat I believe. I would definitely get the collard greens again. The only reason why I’m not giving it five stars was because of my weird experience. I stood outside the truck eating my Mac and cheese, and then I was half-way through my bowl when the man in the truck making my bowl told me that he gave me the wrong order and it wasn’t vegan. I was very shocked and he didn’t really say anything after that. Then, he said wait, let me see your bowl. He looked at it again and was like, “oh yeah, never mind, that is the vegan one.” My friends and I laughed off that weird encounter at the food truck. But it was kind of weird. Overall, I would probably pay another 13 dollars for Mac and cheese again because it’s good. Hopefully next time he won’t scare me again.

Tacos La Jaiva – Menu with Prices – 1724 N Tustin St, Orange

I notice on Friday morning a flyer was on my truck. I told myself, “Wow!,No respect for other people’s property. As I approached my truck I notice it had rain, as I removed the flyer I notice remains of the flyer where stuck to my window. Now this is a classic truck with original window. I decided to call the 1st # on the flyer DISCONNECTED, the 2nd number didn’t answer twice so I sent a text, I got a reply back by text apologizing and that I will here from someone. The day went by and no call so I called and spoke to someone, I explained my situation over the phone which she was aware of , she again apologized and said she would have the owner contact me. The 2nd day she send a text requesting my address and they where waiting on the liquid to remove the adhesive off my window. Well they never showed up! The 3rd day comes around and I text them to find out what’s going on and I got text back that they will clean it in the evening. The 4th day: The lack of integrity shows the results by the day going by an again nothing happens. So I’ve had it and here I’am on Yelp. Do not stop by to clean my truck! Stay away from it and other people’s property. DO NOT PUT FLYERS (Not Permitted by the city) on other people’s vehicles. Have a nice day!

El Buen Taco – Menu with Prices – 1465 Village Dr, Lexington

My boyfriend and I visited this taco truck for the first time this evening. Service was quick and polite. We got the pollo, barbacoa, and pastor tacos with all the fixings. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful. It came with a delicious green sauce that was very spicy. I will definitely come back again!

Oregano’s Pizza Bistro – Menu with Prices – 2690 Baseline Rd, Boulder

Every week I pass by Oregon’s when I fill up my car with gas and always wanted to try it, today happens to be the day I got to try Oregano’s! Overall the experience did not disappoint but it’s very important that when you visited Oregano’s you don’t keep count of calories otherwise your visit won’t be fun (just ask my wife). We visited on a Saturday around 8:50pm and had to wait two minutes for a table (today was Buffs vs Nebraska game). We ordered the big beef sandwich and upgraded chips for fries. Also ordered stuffed pizza with mushrooms, black olives and caramelized red dragon muons as our toppings. The waiter warned us that it will take 50 minutes for the pizza cause the oven is out of capacity. The beef sandwich came relatively quickly and was delicious but then again for that amount of calories it should. The pizza took around an hour and we were surprised that it were not super hot given the wait. It was warm and tasted good but didn’t feel fresh out of the oven which is weird because we waited an hour! The portion was huge (8 slices) we thought we will eat it all and then head to the skillet cookie but we were optimistic. We ended up eating 5 slices and were surprised that we were able to survive. Overall this is a more family friendly place with tasty food for everyone to enjoy. Here are my ratings: Big beef sandwich: 8/10 Stuffed pizza: 8/10

Woodland’s Vegan Bistro – Menu with Prices – 2928 Georgia Avenue Northwest, Washington

It is really hard to find good vegan/vegetarian options with the food trucks that frequent downtown during the week for lunch. This is why I always try to visit this truck when it is at Metro Center (closest Food Truck hangout to my office), so I hope they continue to frequent there on Tuesdays. All of the food options they offer are excellent. I have tried most of the entrees and a few of the sandwiches and have not been disappointed with anything on I tried. Highly recommend the Mac & Cheese and the Garlic Kale – Yum! Yum! The bread they use for their sandwiches is super soft and delicious and totally worth a “cheat day” for the carbs ? The only drawback with this truck is the wait, but, who cares. It’s yummy in my tummy and worth it. I like the food here so much, that I order meals for more than one day and just keep them in the fridge at work to heat up in the microwave for lunch. If you are vegetarian or vegan – You have to try this food truck for lunch if near your office.

Jim ‘N Nick’s Bar-B-Q – Menu with Prices – 4935 University Dr, Huntsville

I have visited a Jim ‘N Nick’s restaurant in any location where one happens to be located where I am driving or visiting. This Huntsville location has now been there for almost two years but my first experience there was this summer. On our latest visit, it was outstanding. The BBQ pork was moist and had excellent taste. It would almost melt in your mouth. On this visit, I had the “loaded potato” (minus some of the loaded stuff–not a fan of sour cream). It was a large potato and I assumed I would not eat all of it. For better or worse, I did eat all of it though. We sat at the bar and the service was excellent. The restaurant was packed on a Sunday at about 1:30 and the bar stools were available to that was the seat of choice. The bartender kept the iced tea glasses full, the three people in our party all enjoyed the taste of the BBQ, and the french fries were also cooked to perfection. So, an excellent option in one of the best chain BBQ restaurants. As an aside, when visiting this location about one month earlier, it was a disaster. It took a very long time to get our meal and, when served, the BBQ was cold–as in just pulled out of the refrigerator and not warmed up. To their credit, the manager came by as he was aware there was a problem. Something obviously happened in the kitchen and there wereâ?? several problems, apparently. The manager provided a gift certificate for the three of us for another visit and also removed the charge for the dishes with the cold BBQ without us asking him to do that. But, as a result of their response, we visited again when in Huntsville several weeks later when the problems had been resolved and were glad we did. The second visit was one of the best BBQ pork meals we have experienced.

Super Grill – Menu with Prices – 5805 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee

During my Orlando vacation I was craving a mofongo. Did some searching and came across this food truck. It had nice reviews so my hubby and I decided to try it. We went for lunch and the food did not disappoint. The portions are big. I purchased a Jibarito sandwich with steak. It was great and I couldn’t finish it. My husband and I could have shared one order. It’s a big sandwich. We also purchased the mofongo for dinner with steak and onions. It’s a lot of food for one person. This food truck is one of many that were in the lot. I wanted dessert also but this truck didn’t offer it. I did find a flancocho at another truck that hit the spot. Great place great music while you wait and lots of tables that are kept very clean. The wait was about 15 minutes which was great. I was happy with my purchase and would return. No doubt.

Nola Mia Gelato Cafe – Menu with Prices – 2230 St Claude Ave, New Orleans

The gelato here brought me right back to my trip to Rome many years ago. I ran into this cute cafe to avoid the sudden, torrential rain and despite the wetness outside it felt like the sun was shining inside this super cute place. If you’ve got to wait out the rain, why not eat gelato? I knew I had to get a scoop of the the Hazelnut, and ended up with Caramel and Passion Fruit as well. The three flavors went really well with each other. The Hazelnut gelato took me immediately back to a hot, Roman plaza in the summertime. It was delicious! The Passion Fruit wasn’t tart like I thought it might be, very fruity, but not overly tropical in taste. I didn’t think the Caramel was going to be anything special, but I was so wrong. You must try it! Little bits of chewy, slightly salty caramel pieces were dappled in the gelato! A dream combination. The shop is super cute, covered in pastel painted picture frames. All the colors go together to create a unique feeling, Italian cafe. The Italian owner was there and was extremely friendly. It’s all very simple, but also very well executed.

Elotes Don Toño – Menu with Prices – 1314 S Glenstone Ave, Springfield

I will find this food truck. Wherever they go. For life. They have a smaller truck out West Chestnut in the summertime that I might visit every three days. I’m not kidding. This is legit food truck fare–completely worth checking out, wherever they are. Currently it’s in front of the Neighborhood Market on Glenstone with the carport out front. I am ashamed/not ashamed that I order their Dorinachos in multiples…it’s your basic idea of a walking taco in a little Doritos bag, but bumped to a ten with their ingredients. I get the carne, and they are not stingy with the toppings. That little chip bag is filled to the top with crema, cotija, jalapenos, and the most delicious chopped meat I’ve had in ages. You can’t be in a hurry–you give your order, pay, and then they shut the window in your face. Hang out for a bit, watch the cars go by, and listen for them to call out your order. Their tacos are small, the elotes are cumbersome and messy, but the food is top notch.

MEXICO BONITO CATERING TRUCK – Menu with Prices – 40648 Fremont Blvd #4305, Fremont

Had to check out the new truck. All of the 5 star reviews made me have to try. Since it was my first time of course I got tacos, 4 of them $8. For $8 at a truck I should leave feeling satisfied right? Nope small street tacos, although a very nice presentation with the spiced onions and definitely Resturante quality I did not leave feeling I got an $8 fill. I think should have came with more meat for spending $8 at a truck on 4 tacos. Maybe should have a deal buy 4 get 1 and fill them. Or a 5 taco plate, nice and full of meat. I’m sure reviews would sky rocket and more people would come. At a truck you look for flavor and expect value and fill. Or at least I do or I’ll just go to a sit down. The meats: (best to last) Al pastor: the best meat I tried, cooked well, cut well, nice and spicy and juicy. He does a great job on this meat. I want to try the burrito with pastor but the burrito is $7 + .50 for all adds, cheese, sour cream, and what ever else. Idk Carne Asada: was pretty decent, I just didn’t have much in my taco to really grasp it. Taco should have been full. Chicken: to my surprise this wasn’t that great, and was cold? usually chicken is a go to easy always good and a staple. Honestly I like my chicken burrito filled with chicken so I look for a balance between taste and qty lol. Over all I give this truck 3.5 stars but this time I round down because I spent $8 and walked away hungry ? Am tempted to try that al pastor burrito but prob won’t be in a rush. Hopefully someone posts a pic and a review on how it was.

New York Lunch Inc – Menu with Prices – 1525 Peninsula Dr, Erie

Visited NYL on a recent trip to Lake Erie. Pleasantly surprised by this place. It is very non-assuming looking like your run of the mill food stand. The service was super quick and super friendly. There were 3 young men working the day of our visit. They seem to work together like a well oiled machine. They were super busy but remained friendly and courteous throughout our visit. Someone came in with a large order and I overheard one of the guys offering to bring the food to their car when it was ready so they didn’t have to wait in the crowded dining room. Okay, so the food! My husband and I both orders 2 dogs, we each got a coke and shared an order of fries. The total was like $12 !! Our wait was minimal and we really enjoyed our food. The dogs were small so we did needed the 2 each. They came with what I think was chili (or a meat gravy) and maybe onions and mustard. I am guessing that is the standard way they come, so you may want to check before ordering, if that is not your thing. What ever the combo of topping was, it was fantastic. The Coke was nice and cold and yummy. Fries where crispy hot and fresh. I loved the dogs and can’t wait to our next trip to Erie so we can go back.
