You can find these croissants around the corner at Depaneur, but it you want to smell heaven, walk past this place around 9pm. Sure you can’t buy them here but the smell or hundreds of croissants baking isn’t something you’ll soon forget.

Quick Corner Liqour – Menu with Prices – 5026 W Thomas Rd, Phoenix

The guys who work at this store are so awesome! Theyre people-persons, always friendly, smiling and joking with their customers. THE BEST liquor/corner store around! If you havent been there you need to just once and youll keep goin back.

Bettant Bakery & Café – Menu with Prices – 1043 Washington Ave, Miami Beach

Croissants and baguettes so fresh, it will feel like the Champs-Élysées and not Washington Avenue…. Every once in awhile, when I’m hankering for the best and freshest baked goods, I traipse over to Bettant. If you get there early, you get the freshest, most delicious french pastries and baked bread this side of the Arc de Triomphe. Service is personal and exceptionally warm. It takes you back to the days when bakeries were family affairs and the smell of fresh-baked bread eased your worries, knowing that deliciousness awaited you on that first bite. Everything is baked fresh daily with the care and skill that could only come from a fourth-generation baker. The bakery features a small cafe where you can sit back and enjoy these delicacies with a hot coffee or tea, your tablet or newspaper, and the daily din of those folks too busy to stop and smell the croissants. I highly recommend it, especially if staying on the beach. SYOY!!

Mainwood Pastry – Menu with Prices – 113 W Elder St, Cincinnati

There aren’t too many places in OTR where you can get a croissant, let alone a good one. I was trying to go to French Crust, but they were closed on a Friday morning which was strange. Blue Oven Bakery didn’t have any croissants at that time of the day either. So I checked on Yelp and it pointed me to Mainwood Pastry. It’s a small shop, but I was happy to see that there were croissants. Even though the almond croissants looked great, I decided on getting 2 chocolate croissants (pain au chocolat). The outside pastry was flaky and the chocolate was well distributed throughout the croissant. The inside layers near the chocolate were a little stuck together and not as airy. But the croissants were still delicious and better done than your grocery store bakery. Great with a hot cup of coffee. Well worth aimlessly wandering around Findlay market.

Hotel Vernon – Menu with Prices – 16 Kelley Square, Worcester

A true dive bar. $1 drafts, free peanuts, floor looks like it hasn’t been mopped in 60 years. Interesting mixed crowd of skate punks, metal heads, people who are strung out, people who are up to no good and people who shop at J. Crew. I can see many a people coming here and their first thought is “what the f is this place?”. This isn’t at the top of my list of places to go to when I go out in Worcester, but I can’t say I’ve ever had a bad time here. I’m not surprised by the 1 star reviews on this site since you’ll never know what you’ll get when you come here. I’ll end this review with a true story: One night, it was very crowded at the Vernon. I was talking to a girl in the little area between the men’s room and ladies room, which on crowded nights don’t smell particularly awesome. I had to fart really bad, and thought “may as well do it surrounded by people in between the bathrooms”. So I let it out slowly and silently. About ten seconds later, she stops mid sentence, starts sniffing and says “I smell… I smell shit. Do you smell that? Someone just shit their pants”. What I should have done was agreed with her, and started looking around. What I did was say that I didn’t smell anything and that it must have been coming from one of the bathrooms. She responded “NO – this is a NEW smell”. I will never forget that night.

Sam’s Donuts – Menu with Prices – 2641 N Grand Ave, Santa Ana

This is very much your typical mom and pop doughnut shop. It’s located on the corner of Grand and Fairhaven next to a 7-11. Its a very small corner lot with limited parking. The plaza itself is a little beat up. The shop is small with limited seating. There may be 3-2 seater tables at most with even just ordering and waiting around to be a little tight in space. The shop is incredibly warm due to the small proximity mixed with the doughnuts and pastries being made in the back. You will smell like doughnuts if you’re in there for even 5 minutes. They have your typical doughnuts which I was not too much of a fan. They tasted like they were made in oil that was a little old. It had that burnt, bitter after taste to it. It’s very mild, though, so I’m sure for some people, it tastes like an average doughnut. The ice coffee is premade and chalked full of sugar and cream. I don’t recommend. They do offer a wide assortment of sandwiches which I thought was nice. From croissants to bagels to just your average sliced bread, they offer all sorts of meats including a breakfast assortment to choose from. They’re pretty tasty hot. Keep in mind, they offer jalapenos and they’re sandwiches come with mayo.

TWENTYFORTYEIGHT – Menu with Prices – 2048 W Chicago Ave, Chicago

You guys! This place is SO COOL. I met Robbie through his brand Hundreds Only Crew last year so naturally when him and Ray opened up this store I got excited for something new and different to come to the area. People in Fashion focus so much on high end designers and forget about smaller, struggling designers who are trying to make it. For those of you who don’t know, Chicago has some of the best designers in the country. When you first walk in the store is very clean, chic and simple. As you browse through the racks you can see how Robbie and Ray spend most of their time and energy putting the spotlight on local Chicago designers. If you are in Chicago and you want to see some one of a kind designers that are local I definitely recommend checking out the store if you are a person that wants to support local entrepreneurs and designers!

Ricci’s Italian Imports – Menu with Prices – 3180 Latta Rd, Rochester

Ricci Imported Italian Deli is Heaven on Earth. The eggplant mediterranean, stuffed breads, deli salads, sandwiches, lasagna, chicken french or chicken parm are to die for! Food is fresh, prepared to perfection, each ingredient can be savored. Guess you can say I am a fan. Additional reasons for 5 stars: The Staff: who will make every effort to make up your favorite dishes, even while you wait. The breads often come out directly from the oven. Who doesn’t love fresh rigotta bread stuffed with spinach and spices. Only top quality sauces, meat, vegetables, and other ingredients are used. Staff is funny, kind, attentive and joy to be around. There are a few table to dine in however I often order takeout. Have visited this deli hundreds of times and never disappointed. Go and find heaven on earth for your taste buds.

French Bakery Tulipe Cafe Menu with Prices 21073 Powerline Rd, Boca Raton

I’m not understanding the rave reviews here. I visited tulip at 1 in the afternoon. No customers which I thought was a little odd being prime lunch time. I ordered a variety of baked goods to take away for my family to try. 4 plain croissants, chocolate almond croissants, spinach quiche and a baguette. Sadly, it was all a bit stale. Aside from the baguette, the rest tasted like they were made yesterday or prior. Definitely not that morning. The baguette was ok – not great. We threw out the 4 plain croissants as they were chewy, hollow (not flakey), and smelled like bad oil. The chocolate almond croissants had no almonds and just a tiny squirt of chocolate. Not to mention, a poor texture. The quiche was ‘wet’ for lack of a better word and the spinach in it was frozen spinach. The cost was not inexpensive either at close to $40.

Iggy’s Bread – Menu with Prices – 130 Fawcett St, Cambridge

Not sure why some haven’t enjoyed Iggy’s croissants. Maybe they aren’t getting them directly from the Cambridge bakery? Maybe they’ve traveled too far (farmers’ market? cafe?) and are too old? Whatever the case: I lived in France. And the pain chocolate from Iggy’s is as good or better than the majority of the ones I ate outside of Paris. And they are as good as *many* of the croissants I ate in Paris. (NB: I think one of the reasons these pastries are so so good in France is that you’ll never eat one more than 2 or 3 hours old.) The butter croissants at Iggy’s are really nice, too, but I don’t have frame of reference to compare these with their French counterparts. The only other local place that does these similar justice is Athan’s in Brookline. I also love Iggy’s Francese bread, and my partner is nuts about their cranberry pecan rolls. Lastly: you won’t find a nicer bunch of bakers. If chocolate croissants are your thing, do yourself a favor and go get one!

The Bread Artisans Bakery – Menu with Prices – 6925 4th St N, St. Petersburg

Fantastic, fresh-baked, natural bread. I didn’t realize until recently that most bread we eat is not made the way people made it for hundreds of years. I wanted to try a real sourdough loaf from people who use an actual starter and not bags of yeast and added sugar. I wanted bread close to the way it used to be made because I’ve been learning that it is way healthier this way and I felt it might be tastier, too. I went here on a Saturday morning and asked what their best bread was. The lady, who I presume is the co-owner with her husband who was in the middle of actually baking bread right there, was very humble. She didn’t brag about the bread but instead talked about the bread itself. She told me to start with a true sourdough loaf and then come back and branch out. She handed me a still hot loaf in a paper bag and told me to let it settle before I broke into it. I would like to tell you that I had self-control with this notion but once it got into my car, the smell was so damn good that I thought I would just take a small little whiff. I picked up the bag and the crust cracked in a fresh-baked way that I have missed since my family used to make homemade breads. I’ll be honest, half the loaf is already gone. The only reason it isn’t already gone is that I am trying to convince myself that I should not eat that much bread in one day. There’s still a few hours left of the day though. Probably won’t make it and I will have to go back on Monday for more.

Chez les Frenchies – Menu with Prices – 501 E 75th St, New York

Great little brunch and lunch spot. Awesome coffee, croissants and avocado toast. Try the egg salad sandwiches and crepes. They are really good too. Canâ??t say enough about this place. Reminds me of that little French country cafe around the corner where everyone knows your name and what you like before you do.

Las Palmas Bakery – Menu with Prices – 4255 Old Hwy 77, Brownsville

This Bakery is an ol locals favorite. It’s been around longer than I have. Every morning you’d be able to smell the breads baking down the blvd! Now of course they expanded their business and it’s in a new building just down the street from where they used to be. The location is nicer and with nicer upgrades comes pricier baked goods. Although the breads are still just as good as they ever were…
