Aye Que Bueno! This little hole in the wall place is worth the trek. Gotta love the authentic Mama y Papa Shop- Really cute the ‘all in one’ grocery, meat shop, and restaurant! They give you a great platter of freshly made salsas and house made chips. The portions are great and the price even better! Everything I’ve had there I was very pleased with…even looked like the guy who just was waking up for his night shift at 7 pm was able to eat breakfast. I will say I believe this place does close early so beware late night eaters…

Lella alimentari – Menu with Prices – 325 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn

Piadine arenâ??t well known outside Italy, but they should be. These delightful snacks (kind of an Italian quesadilla) are a staple among late night eaters in Italy and have made their way here through the expert hands at Lella. The space has the vibe of a cute refurbished gas station and is packed with charming gadgets. There are good options for meat eaters and non- and they also have some bowls and salads for folks less inclined to eat carbs. Coffee is also excellent.

Simply Pho Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 424 S Main St suite f, Orange

The other night was a late one and I was dying for a late night dinner. It was a cold gloomy night with a light drizzle so what comes to mind when that type of weather is near? Pho, duh! We found Simply Pho Noodle house closer to downtown Orange. We lucked out because it was late so hardly anything was open. We rolled in around 9 ish and there were a handful of tables getting some food as well, so it was nice to know that we weren’t the only late eaters. The menu had all the typical Pho spot menu items AND they had a vegetarian menu so I was able to pick out some items on there. I ordered the veggie pho, which vegetarian broth, mounds of veggies and tofu. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our meals were dropped off very quick. All 4 of us got Pho so we were excited to dig in together. I loved the veggie pho. It was soo good! The tofu was a little crispy, seriously so good! I added a ton of chili, hosin, a gang of limes and it was ready to go. I thought everything was super flavorful and loved the fresh veggies.

Ali Baba Gyros – Menu with Prices – 112 N 14th St, Lincoln

If there’s a sheep in the passageway round back, you might hear an Alley Baa-baa. Anyway, Ali need is to do a quick review of this place. Cute little late-night gyro shop in Lincoln Nebraska and when you need late night food around here there are not very many options and they’re not very, and by NY or CHI standards this would probably be average or a little below but by Nighttime Nebraska standards it’s actually pretty good and you can hang out here for a while and the owner is nice and they have a bathroom although it’s tiny and not great but it’s a bathroom and I hope you enjoyed my ridiculous run on sentence. I give them four stars for the food but an extra star for being open so late and offering a great service to the community and the college students and being right in the middle of town, perfectly located, like my d***.

DN Top Donuts – Menu with Prices – 8691 19th St, Alta Loma

I love this donut shop. The donuts are delicious and the people are so friendly. I’ve ordered large quantities of donuts for my kids classes in the past. Usually I go in and pay in advance. Last night I called to place my order of three dozen glazed. The man I spoke with asked if I could come to the store and pay in advance. I told him it was late and raining super hard so I’ll just come in the morning and take my chances, hoping they would have enough. This morning, the man remembered me and our conversation and hooked me up right away. Very good experience. So glad this shop is close to my house.

The Harbinger Cafe & Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1107 King St, Charleston

Landed in Charleston late Thursday night and was desperate for some coffee the next morning. This shop was pretty close to where I was staying, so I stopped in. The front of the coffee shop is super cute. There is a bar along the front window where you can sit and look out at the people walking by, and there is plenty of seating around the back of the restaurant. There are also a few benches outside with a nice patio. I never steer away from a good iced drink, so I ordered a 16 oz cold brew which came to $4.50 after tax. This was truly authentic cold brew and the beans had been steeped for quite some time, so it was good and strong. But, this is not like Starbucks or Dunkin’ cold brew… it had a much bolder taste. If you’re a big coffee drinker, you’ll know what I mean. Harbinger also had an extensive display of pastries, juices, and other goods. The pastries themselves looked delicious and ran anywhere from $3-5, and many of them were actually vegan/vegetarian. I’ve already planned a second trip to this coffee shop to try one, which I rarely do. Overall, I’d recommend Harbinger. It’s in a small-town setting and has a warm, homey vibe. I don’t know if the coffee is worth $4.50, but it’s worth a try if you’re in the area.

Pin-Up Bowl – Menu with Prices – 6191 Delmar Blvd, St. Louis

Great Hang in The Loop! Delmar Blvd has its share of good bar and restaurant, and if you’re a concert goer like me, you want a place to hang before big shows at The Pageant and Delmar Hall. Look no further than down the street. Pin-Up Bowl is your place. I’ve been going to Pin-Up for as long as they’ve been open, but lately it’s been more frequent because of my concert schedule. Depending on the act, I might go into Halo Bar early, but if I’m in no rush, Pin-Up is great for a few pints and a snack. And let’s not forget the bowling. You can bowl until two in the morning every night of the week! It’s a great idea for a late night hangs or even scheduling an event. Their beer selection is pretty solid. I usually don’t have any trouble finding something new to drink, and they even have a weekday hour happy from 4-7 that features $3 Schlafly beers. The service usually very good, too. Olivia was bartender last time, and she was pretty awesome! If you’re looking for a late night bar or wanting to bowl somewhere more exciting than your average alley, you should check out Pin-Up Bowl in The Loop.

Glitter Bean Cafe – Menu with Prices – 5896 Spring Garden Rd, Halifax

Others have tried and failed to make a profit at this poor retail location. This is a busy street, but people walking or driving by can’t see there is a coffee shop inside. From the street there is little to indicate this a commercial property. Looks like (and is) a residential building. No big store front windows at street level. Little in the way of signage. The logo on their sign needs to be re-designed to look more like a coffee shop. The faded Just-us sign (one of the former tenants who went belly-up) is still visible on the facade. Website is a waste: no menu, an empty “events” page, links that go nowhere. Very odd hours for a coffee shop; they like to close early, 6 pm weekdays and 5pm on weekends. Are the owners really committed to their business? Just one month after grand opening they closed the store for a weekend to “recharge.” They like to close when it snows, close for “staffing issues,” close for “unforseen circumstances,” close for government holidays (when all other coffee shops are open), and close for no apparent reason whatsoever. They need to charge more for their products; they are giving away too cheaply to undercut the competition (classic rookie business mistake), they won’t make enough money at those prices. A lot of wasted space in the store isn’t being monetized. I’m not sure what they are trying to do here.

Cafegency Organic Bean Coffeehouse – Menu with Prices – 408 Wendover Ave E, Greensboro

On my coffee break I ventured off to grab myself a late afternoon pick me up. On my way out I decided to stop at this unusual coffee shop which I have drove past many times…I always wondered is this insurance agency or coffee shop- like what’s going on here??? Anyways they have an assortment of candy bar inspired drinks which are soooo tempting but I am on a strict marathon diet which makes me quickly shift gears to the healthier alternatives on the menu. In particular, I was drawn to the smoothie menu which consists of two columns of your protein mixed drinks and your more decant smoothie mixes. So I decided to opt out for the veggie smoothie which consisted of crushed pineapple, coconut, some greens, other stuff, and protein- it was shockingly really good! Not at all healthy tasting lol. Plus, it was quite sweet which was surprising with all the veggies but I won’t complain… anyways it was a great coffee break and perhaps I will have more sweet sips here in my future…we’ll see…

Lollicup Tea Zone – Menu with Prices – 1550 E H St #H, Chula Vista

My go to boba place even though there’s a boba place across the street from me! The boba here is always nicely chewy and sweet. Usually, when you get boba late at night or close to closing, a shop’s boba is hard and VERY unappealing. But fear not, this boba shop has fresh boba even to the very end of the day. The drinks are blended to perfection. Drinks are not too sweet– if you’d like a modification on sweetness, just let a worker know! The shop is pretty spacious. However, if you go right after one of the schools get out, chances are you’ll be around a lot of middle/high schoolers. If you do catch yourself in this time, don’t worry because the line goes by pretty fast and your drinks come in a timely manner. The owners are amazing and friendly as always. Today, I went to the shop to get a friend a gift. I got a Taro slush with boba, bag of Sour Patch kids, and a gift certificate. The owner offered to put the bag of candy and gift certificate in a boba cup and seal it! It was super cute! To overlook this place would be a crime. It’s not the trendiest looking place, but it is the tastiest.

Two Boys Donuts Menu with Prices 6400 Holly Ave NE Suite H, Albuquerque

Whether the donuts are good or not, that is something that I will never know and now don’t even care to know. It seems you only care to serve people that can go in the mornings and those of us that work until the late afternoon do not matter at all. I need multiple hands to be able to count how many times I have gone by there in the afternoon after work only to find a SOLD OUT sign on the door and the place closed. If I recall, that was even the case on the day of your grand opening. The one time you were open when I was there a couple hours before close, there was just a few donuts to choose from. Lousy business etiquette!!! There is no donut shop or a bakery that closes early constantly because they run out. You have been open long enough to know what kind of supply you have and yet you continue to only make enough to get you through what appears to be the time you would rather work to until the time your hours indicate you actually close. Every donut places continues to make donuts and keep a supply so there are always donuts available. You have lost my business as well as friends and family and those that I work with before we have even had an opportunity to taste one. Closing early because you have sold out is acceptable once or even twice considering you are new but it seems to have become a regular several times a week pattern and that is not a good message to give to potential or even existing customers. People will eventually stop coming all together because they will just start thinking “why bother, they will probably just be sold out”. I will continue to get my donuts at Amy’s who ALWAYS have a supply of donuts and who ALWAYS have a supply for those of us that can only go after work.

The Shop Beer Co. – Menu with Prices – 922 W 1st St, Tempe

Good first impression! I was having a chat with the girlfriend earlier about all these beer places that seem to have spontaneously materialized all over the place. Earlier-20’s me would be bursting through the seams with excitement. Late-20’s me, we agreed, is less preoccupied with craft beer than ever before. Well, that’s got to change (to a responsible extent)! Enter The Shop Beer Co., a stone’s throw away from home, and a nice view after sunset when their lights come on. The bar itself is a small but cozy space; I could’ve done without the music, as there is already enough noise coming from the conversations in every direction. For a little more room to stretch, there is an adjacent seating area outside. Parked in front is whichever food truck is on the roster (schedule is available on their website). While my IPA fandom has long exceeded its expiration date, I made an exception this afternoon for the Church Music (6.7% ABV). It was great; definitely rivals most church music (couldn’t resist), and that juicy pineapple finish is evident at every sip. A solid choice for a summer afternoon in Tempe, and I will probably grab another the next time I visit. So gather, brothers and sisters — a service is in session. I am pleased to have initiated this Arizonan beer expedition with The Shop Beer Co., and with it being so close I could probably zipline there, I’ll be back in no time.

Brewed Awakenings Coffee Roasters Menu with Prices 62077 NE 27th St, Bend

Last Thursday I went to get coffee at 6:42pm. I know they close at 7, but I’m a nurse and I work nights and I wanted coffee for two other coworkers and I. The girl working opens the window, already looking annoyed, and says “Well, I hope you don’t want anything hot.” There was no, “Hi, what can I get for you?” Or “Welcome to Brewed Awakenings, what can I get started for you?” She clearly just wanted to leave on time at the end of her shift. I stated “well, yeah, I was hoping to get some coffee.” and she just said “Well I already cleaned the machines. [long pause] I could probably make you something iced if you want.” I was so taken aback by the fact that this COFFEE place didn’t want to make me any coffee. My coworker has brought me coffee from here before, and it was great. I wanted to return the favor and bring some great coffee to work to start our shift off nicely, and instead I got this negative experience from a girl who clearly didn’t want to work very hard that day. It’s too bad that this place is convenient for work, but I won’t be coming back.
