I hadn’t been to this new location for this restaurant. I had Calvin’s food before when his restaurant was in a hotel on the other end of Broad Street. The food was pretty good then and it’s pretty good now!!! My cousin had dined here recently and raved about everything, so I had to come by and check out the new location. I didn’t know what to expect since it had been so long since I had any of Calvin’s food. From the time I entered the restaurant to the time I departed I felt appreciated as a customer and most importantly a human being!!!! You can’t get no better than that with what’s all going on in the world today!! The food menu is pretty extensive here. He has things like chicken, oxtails, meatloaf, liver and onions, Salisbury steak, and so much more. It was so hard to choose what I wanted to eat. It was so many things I wanted to taste. I ordered sweet tea first, and I must say if you don’t like your tea super sweet you wouldn’t like his!!! I call it diabetic tea and I loved every bit of it!!! Calvin himself comes out and waits on each customer. I thought that was such a personal touch. That shows that he really stands behind everything that he puts his name on!!! I chose to order my favorite, Salisbury steak with rice and gravy, black-eyed peas, and cabbage. Everything thing was delicious!!! My mother ordered her favorite, liver and onions, rice and gravy, black-eyed peas, and cabbage. She loved everything on her plate as well. It took a little time for my mother’s food to come out, so to appease us Calvin brought us out two fried chicken wings. That was some pretty good fried chicken!!!! That’s exactly what I’m going to order when I dine here the next time. It had the right amount of flavor and was fried to perfection!!! That chicken made my mother forget she was waiting for her food. It didn’t take too long after we ate the chicken that her food arrived. Everything was on point, I can see why he has had so much success in the food industry for so long!! He make sure that his customers are happy at all costs!!! My mother couldn’t finish her food and he offered her more food, which he gave her. He said he didn’t want her to go home hungry and had spent good money!!! Where else would a restaurant owner do this?!? Most likely NOWHERE!!! Calvin’s customer service is off the scale and his food is just as good!!! I’m adding this place to my go to places to eat!!! I have so many things to try on his menu!!! You don’t come by too many places like this anymore!!!

Hart’s Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 830 Dauphin Island Pkwy, Mobile

I want d some good chicken after the game and looked on Yelp and found this place. It looks like it was an old Krystal’s. Their menu is pretty simple and to the point. Ms. Antionette was very helpful from the back! I ordered the 6 piece wings with fried okra, coleslaw and a side of the liver and rice. The chicken had a good crispy outside and on the inside was juicy and you can taste the flavor all the way through. The seasoning wasn’t over powering and the breading was very light. The fried okra was good but the liver and rice surprised me a lot. I thought it would have been fried livers on the side but they do theirs different. They include the liver, rice and gravy all in one! If I knew it was going to be that good, I would have ordered a bigger one. This is a great place to stop and get some of the best fried chicken in the gulf!

Alice’s Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 867 W Jefferson Ave, San Bernardino

Yay! Thanks Yelpers for helping us find a breakfast spot on the way to Vegas. It was delicious, fast, with friendly service. I ordered the chicken fried steak with extra crispy potatoes (and onions and green peppers which the waitress asked if I wanted to include), eggs over medium and a biscuit and my husband ordered the fried egg sandwich on sourdough with cheese and corned beef and we shared them both. The chicken fried steak was pounded out to perfection with tasty gravy and I’m not sure what the secret ingredient in the potatoes was, but they were super yummy. I would definitely recommend the chicken fried steak with potatoes and if I’m ever in the area I would order it again. The sandwich was a basic breakfast sandwich and was good, but I would probably try something else next time. It did have lots of corned beef on it though and I used the top piece of sourdough to soak up my egg yolks and a little gravy. The place itself is dated, but clean and the bathroom although super small was also very clean. If Alice’s was in my town or even a few towns over I would certainly be a regular!

Shun Xing Chinese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 12 Newmarket Square, Newport News

We had a pleasant surprise walking in — the floor is lovely and all the booths were nice and clean. Lunch with the kids meant less adventurous choices — wonton soup, chicken fried rice, and sweet and sour chicken. Wontons had lots of meat and the broth was tasty. The chicken fried rice was delicious, it comes with a lot of onions so request it without onions unless you love them. Sweet and sour sauce was the only disappointment but the fried chicken nuggets were excellent. Canned soda and bottled juice from the fridge were reasonably priced. A convenient stop or place to take out if you are visiting nearby Huntington Park and the War Museum.

Slainte Irish Pub Monkey Junction – Menu with Prices – 5607 Carolina Beach Rd #100, Wilmington

This place sucks. There is no other way to say it. The food is freaking delicious with no regard to the damage its going to do to my bank account. To make it worse they partnered with uber eats so I dont even have to leave my house (god I hate leaving my house) to get their delicious food whenever I want. Jokes aside I’ve ordered from them twice this week. Uber eats chunks on quite a bit to the bill which sucks but the price of the food itself is very reasonable. I cant stress enough for introverts like myself and my wife how great it is to be able to order online. If you guys read this please check out Surfside Express or Cape Fear Delivery as they are FAR cheaper then uber eats. Onto the food though. When I order from somewhere new I like to try a wide variety. There is not a lot of Irish pub style food available for delivery in Wilmington so this is awesome! The reuben egg rolls…amazing! There is a really great amount of filling inside and who doesnt love a Reuben? Added bonus the egg roll doesnt get soggy like the bread would. The buffalo wings…great. Im sure they would be 9/10 at the restaurant. Theres no great way to deliver wings so they dont get soggy (except for vented plastic containers) but both times I ordered them they were still decently crisp. I ordered them extra well done you may want to do the same. Really good flavor. The Irish cannonballs… fried mashed potato balls with cheese chives and bacon…awesome. The skins…I thought these would be potato skins but they’re like strips of potatoes coated like a blooming onion. Pretty yummy but kind of heavy. Corned beef platter…actually really didnt like this. Was kind of surprising cause the reuben egg rolls are top notch. But the amount of corned beef they gave felt kinda small, it the meat was sweet? Like I think there was cinnamon on it and I was just not a fan. Maybe I didnt read the description properly. They gave a good amount of cabbage and potatoes with it and the mustard was really great. Just should not be sweet. Blackened chicken…pretty ok. I asked for it cooked well done and it wasnt at all but the seasoning was very good. Im just odd and tend to like my meat more well done. Burger…what can you mess up about a burger? Was really great. Soda bread….very sweet and buttery very yummy. Price on this one feels a bit off for what you get but the taste is 10/10. Chicken tenders…very good lots of seasoning options. I tried the cajun ones and enjoyed quite a bit. Lastly the service. My wife wanted the green tomato BLT. We got a call a few minutes after I put the order in the restaurant was out of green tomatoes. The woman who called was very patient waiting for me to talk to my wife to figure out what she wanted. And then my wife opted for the more expensive burger but they didnt upcharge for the inconvenience. Really nice touch. Will order from these bastards again.

Mama Mary’s Soul Food – Menu with Prices – 372 Whalley Ave, New Haven

Delicious By Aldu Dominican Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 235 E Warner Rd Ste 107, Gilbert

Delicious is definitely not a misnomer, when it comes to this establishment. It definitely evokes the quality and consistency of the food that is served here. We had a family catch-up time scheduled, and decided to meet up at this restaurant that none of us had visited, thus far. It’s a fairly small place, located in a nondescript strip mall. We wanted to sample a variety of dishes, so that we can sample the breadth of their offerings. So we started out with the Mixed Platter Appetizer. It comprised of Fried Pork bites, Dominican Style fried chicken, and the ever so tasty sweet plantains. Every bite was simply heavenly. For the main courses, our family ordered the Steak & Onions and the Tilapia in Red Sauce. My wife had the Braised Beef. And I had the Crackling Chicken. For good measure, and to add more sweetness to our entrees, we also ordered more Maduros (fried ripe plantains). Everything was so tasty, unique and flavorful that we just had to share the rapturous flavors that our taste buds were experiencing. We found no reason to levy any complaints, whatsoever. The service was timely. The food was amazingly flavorful. And the experience was worth the trip for some of us that live further away!

Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 876 N Eastern Blvd, Montgomery

The chicken from this location is very crispy and freshly cooked. But I got the chicken livers and they were awful. They were so crunchy I couldn’t even eat them. And there was something else in the box that wasn’t a chicken liver (gross). I took a picture for you to see it. Luckily, I dont trust meats that have large amounts of crispy bread, so I pick the bread off before I eat and I found this thing. It’s time for us to just have our on chickens. Now I’ll be traumatized for weeks……

Fujiya House – Menu with Prices – 1489 Carl D. Silver Pkwy, Fredericksburg

I went there and ordered NY steak and shrimp. Steak to be cooked medium rare. When it was plated it looked yellow and pink. I told my friend something wasn’t right. I tried a small bite and it was soar and smelt rancid. The cook told the waitress and when she came to table she said “what do you want me to do about it”. I told her it was bad and I couldn’t eat it. She just looked at me and said again “what do you want me to do about it “. I had to tell her to throw it out and take it off my check. Never did a manager come to table but I could see the waitress talk to him across the room and he just patted her on the back. I pray someone checked the other steak in back and didnt serve anyone else the NY steak. I will never go back and plan on never recommending this place again. Bad steak and bad customer service.

The Chicken Barn – Menu with Prices – 2601 Oakdale Rd # S, Modesto

The food is good but the service is actually horrible. I ordered on the phone and came in because I was in a hurry. Not one customer was there and they made me wait 15 minutes longer once I got there for a 10 peice chicken meal. It’s like they didnt want me to place a pickup order, they didnt like that. And the lady was rude. I really wont go anymore because the whole staff is actually VERY RUDE. 100% the rudest establishment I’ve been to. Horrible customer service.

Eastside Fish Fry & Grill – Menu with Prices – 2417 E Kalamazoo St, Lansing

My husband ordered their fried chicken sandwich and when we arrived home, he opened the wrapper and found a small piece of grilled dry chicken on a bun with nothing on it! Remember, he ordered the fried chicken sandwich which comes with condiments. He called the restaurant and the man/boy on the other end argued that he ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. My husband said, why would I call you if this is what I ordered, I ordered the fried chicken sandwich because I heard it was good and I wanted to try it and a grilled chicken sandwich is what I got! The guy on the other end of the phone continued to argue, so my husband hung up. It goes to say my husband was very disappointed. TO THE OWNER OF THIS ESTABLISHMENT! IF A CUSTOMER CALLS AND STATES THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THEIR ORDER, IT IS OF THE UTMOST IMPORTANCE THAT ERROR IS CORRECTED AND THE CUSTOMER IS NOT TOLD THEY ARE WRONG BECAUSE THE RECEIPT/ORDER SLIP SAYS DIFFERENTLY. IT IS TO SAY THAT THE EMPLOYEE THAT TOOK THE ORDER VIA PHONE GOT IT WRONG BY NOT REPEATING THE ORDER BACK TO THE CUSTOMER (MY HUSBAND). WE LIVE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF TOWN AND CALLED IN THE ORDER AND DROVE OVER AND WAITED 45 MINUTES WHEN THEY TOLD US IT WOULD BE 20 MINUTES. WE ARE VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OUTCOME. THE OWNER WAS NOT THERE THAT EVENING September 13, 2019. The restaurant was extremely busy as usual, there needs to be a better system for a smoother running of the “To Go” Restaurant.

Buffalo Soul Catering – Menu with Prices – 454 Pearl St, Buffalo

This is not my own personal review, it’s the review of a friend of mine who chose to share her experience with me.. We both have been interested in this place for a while now, however, she made it before me. When she placed her order the man she spoke with was very polite and welcoming over the phone. She told him that she wasn’t a fan of onions but she wanted the whole steak sub experience so he told her he would finely chop up the onions for her (which he did), she said when she walked in she was greeted with a smile and a friendly hello which made her experience even better. She said every bite of her sub was amazing and it’s packed full of meat and flavor and worth every penny that she spent.. Today I can review Buffalo Soul Catering on my own and I wouldn’t change a thing. The steak sub was loaded with steak and flavor. When I ordered I asked if the steak could be chopped up well because my grandparents ordered a sub as well and the lady I spoke to was so polite and nice. When they opened their subs everything was chopped perfectly for them. A MUST TRY 3rd Update.. 12/2018 Today I tried the fish and shrimp combo with Mac & cheese and green beans, I also got a side of chicken wing dip.. The fish was cooked well but I wasn’t a huge fan of it, the shrimp was AMAZING and I would def order them again. I was disappointed with the Mac & Cheese, it didn’t have any flavor, the noodles seem to be mushy and it has a few burned pieces in it. The greens beans were just okay, no real flavor. When you order the chicken wing dip it comes with a bag of Doritos.. The dip was very good, I’m not a fan of spicy but it taste great.. Most wing dip is spicy because of the sauce so I knew what I was risking but I wanted to try some new things here.. I will change my star rating to a 4 because I was more disappointed in my food more than I was pleased.. however they always give great customer service and that’s important to me and will keep me as a customer.. I also ordered a pepper steak and rice meal for someone else.. I did have the chance to taste it and it had a pretty good taste.. the person who I ordered it for said it was delicious but he wished he had more gravy added (he’s a gravy fan).. he said he would get the meal again…

Sugar Cubed – Menu with Prices – 531 13th St W, Bradenton

Not really impressed. Wanted a treat at work so was surprised they had a delivery option. Chose it and placed order. Ordering was very confusing. They need to improve if going to continue. I wanted an assortment of cookies and they had a box option and discounted if bought by dozen. It would not however let me choose the cookies so i opted for an assortment. I only got 3 different flavors even though the menu showed more. It also doesnt state that certain cookies are not discounted. Example the macarons. Had i known they dont consider these a cookie and therefore dont qualify for the cookie box that discounts the price. And website stated that discounts were available if a dozen ordered. I found this out through an email stating they were charging my card an extra amount. Had website been more specific i would have changed my order. Also tjought cookies were very greasy and extremely heavy tasting and a bit dry. The grease soaked through the box. Didnt really expect that. Overall not much flavor and didnt expect the white chocolate macadamia nut ones to have coconut. It should be part of description. Overall experience was disappointing and wont be back. If you continue to offer online order please take a closer look at it it needs a lot of improvements
