Johnny Na’s haircut suite is located in the Pacific Commons Plaza in between Home Goods and Jo-Anns. While you’ll see a building that says Salons by JC, there is in fact several suites with hair/nail salons inside. His suite is #15. I arrived a little early to my 11:30 am appointment and wasn’t sure if I was in the right location at first, but quickly found out after walking inside that I was in the right place. I will be honest. While my appointment was at 11:30 am, Johnny was late by 30 minutes. I guess I was his first appointment for the day and â??he was coming in from Dublin which had traffic. I would say that I’m a pretty patient person and was more understanding after he had informed me through text that he was running late. When Johnny finally arrived, he looked a little flustered and I was a little worried at that point because I wasn’t sure if he would be able to deliver a nice haircut under stress from the traffic. I reassured him that it was fine and I showed him a picture I had found on pinterest. I asked for his honest opinion and whether the hairstyle would suit my face structure and shape and he was able to provide me with feedback. He started to cut away and once I saw him getting into his groove, I was confident that he would do a good job. Johnny is not only a hair stylist that is meticulous and detail oriented, he is also very personable. During my haircut, we chatted about life and food. It made the experience a lot better. My younger sister came with me and she mentioned that my haircut took a little over 1.5 hours!!! I’ve never had someone spend so much time on my hair. I was so surprised, but it really does show. I also would like to mention that it was also my first time getting my hair shampooed and washed. I believe the service is included with the starting haircut price, but don’t quote me. It was so relaxing and made me feel pampered. LOL I also have fine Asian hair and I grew it super long for my wedding. He was able to give me a short haircut that framed my face well. In the end, I was very happy with the turn out of my haircut. While I will say that Johnny’s haircuts are not cheap, you are paying for the quality of the haircut and service that he provides. I only cut my hair every 1 to 1.5 years, so spending a little more to have someone do a thorough job means a lot. Although pictures don’t do my hair justice, it really turned out great! I love it and so did my husband when he saw it in person! Thank you, Johnny!! I may have found my new hair stylist! ? P.S – a week has passed and my hair still looks so good! Even though Johnny had showed me ways to style my hair, little does he know that I’m a pretty low maintenance gal and his haircut for me was effortless. No work needed and I still get compliments from people! ?

Hannah Beauty Hair Salon – Menu with Prices – 4712 El Cajon Blvd Ste E, San Diego

I went here to get my haircut by Hannah (store owner) bc my sister recommended her. I have always been hesitant with getting my hair cut bc it has never come out how I wanted, but OMG!!! I AM SO IN LOVE WITH MY HAIRCUT FROM HANNAH!!!!! Never in my life have I loved my hair this much. EVER. She listened to exactly what I wanted and replicated the photo I showed her. She really took her time with me and my hair feels and looks AMAZING. You can tell she’s really skilled based off how she cuts & I cannot emphasize how happy I am. This is the first time in my life that I have LOVED my haircut. I wish I could give her even more stars!! I’m from Irvine & was just visiting for the weekend, but now I’ll definitely have to make the 1.5hr commute to always get my cut here. It’s totally worth it!!!! I will never go anywhere else now. Ps. She’s so affordable too!

Honest Barber Menu with Prices 5436 Burnet Rd, Austin

I want to begin by saying that I used to go to the Grand Barbershop in the Triangle, but then I followed all the cool barbers here when they went to start their own place up. First things first, this place highly discourages walk-ins in favor of appointments. This makes sense – no one has time to wait around at a barbershop anymore. I arrived right around my appointment time and was greeted with the incredibly clean, all-white room that is the Honest Barber. I waited 10-15 minutes for my barber to be ready for me, which was a bit longer than I would’ve liked, but the free beverages (both alcoholic and wholesome) made the wait more pleasant. When the time came, I sat down at David’s chair for my haircut. I showed him what I wanted, and he got to work on my long, messy mane. In the meantime, we talked about our lives – his was pretty fascinating; mine not so much – and essentially just enjoyed each other’s company. David did a great job with my hair and then shaved my neckline with the classic straight razor, which I find is rather unappreciated in 2019. I was a little dubious because he didn’t ask if I wanted the back square or rounded, but I assume he saw how it was before and followed suit. It would’ve set my mind a little more at ease if he had communicated this though. All in all, $30 + tip for a high-quality haircut and drinks included is a great value, and Honest Barber is my new go-to barbershop in Austin. Bonus: you might get featured on their Instagram page!

Broken Spoke Tacoma – Beer. Barbers. Bikes. – Menu with Prices – 1014 M.L.K. Jr Way, Tacoma

UPDATE: so as per my 3 star rating. I have adjusted my rating to 5 star. I’ve since visited 2 times since my first visit here. the people have been nothing but accommodating. My $55 gift card which was for a deluxe package was turned into 2 haircuts, since I don’t have a beard to shave. Learned that offer Military Haircuts for $20 The barber Georgette is very nice. Did a great job. Was even able to work with me on the 2nd visit cause I got off work late and showed up 10 min late to my appointment. Got to learn the history of the place which was pretty cool! Highly recommend this place and Georgette! .Let it be known..I have a barber that I already go to weekly. I went here cause a close friend stops in here frequently. So they had purchased a $55 gift certificate here for my birthday. I had not scheduled a haircut with my barber the week I visited, cause I was going to give this place a try. How to say this…I didn’t have the best experience…but I didn’t not, not like this place. I originally wanted to give this a 2 star rating, but with the few mishaps/observations I had they, a few have been corrected, and as I give this place another shot I will reevaluate my review. High points: great vibe, great set up, love the fact that you can chill and have a beer while waiting to get a haircut. The haircut turned out great from the barber I had that day. Low points to my visit: 1. They open at 10 am, I showed up at 11:15-11:20, expecting maybe a wait for a walk in haircut. BUT as I showed up, their barber had not shown up yet. *I do understand that people run behind, it was also the barbers 1st day. The barber showed up a little over two hours after the shop had opened. I had sat for at right about an hour, after sitting at the bar and had purchased a beer. I almost didn’t get a haircut, and was just slightly annoyed cause I needed to find a place to get a haircut that day for work the following day, and my barber was booked.ran into the barber right as I was walking out to leave. He had stopped me, and asked if I was here to get a haircut? I responded “well I was”, and he insisted that I stay and that he was ready to go. So I ended up getting a good haircut. 2. I was not able to redeem my gift certificate. My gift certificate was written on the back of a business card, and the gift certificate can only he redeemed by that person on that person. When asked the person running the bar didn’t know if the person still worked there. *Thankfully the gift certificate was on the back of the business card, and I was able to find the person’s IG and messaged that person. Turned out they still work there, just part time. Also since the person only works there part time, with a limited availability, they transferred my gift certificate to another barber. Thank goodness for that, cause I would have hated to see my friends gift certificate become wasteful. 3. In the one visit alone, i learned both the barber who cut my hair and the barber who the gift certificate was bought for only work there part time. * A key note for me who frequently gets my haircut, I want someone who cuts full time and isn’t working a more than one location. I don’t want to be limited on the day’s I can schedule a haircut. I tend to have a set day and an alternate day each week that I get my haircut, but things do come up and sometimes I need to adjust, but I would like to know that someone will be available. But I have high hopes, and I’m sure that I will readjust this review after my next cut. All and all, I did like my haircut, I like the place. With the few reservations I have, I don’t know if it would be a place I would leave my current barber to come to.

Chromatic Theory – Menu with Prices – 37120 Fremont Blvd, Fremont

If you’re doubting making an appointment, hopefully this can help you make your decision. Stephanie IS AWESOME! She just started her own salon inside Sola Salons so come check her out. She listens to what you want and really makes an effort to ensure your happiness. I have thick Asian hair and she knows exactly how to thin it out and make it manageable. Other hair stylists will leave it either too layered that it’s awkward or too thick that it looks too heavy. Hair color: On point! She’s super honest with you and will make sure your hair color will turn out exactly as you want. It’s definitely helpful if you come in with a picture. My hair was super brassy when I came in. After my appointment, I got an Ash balayage. Easy maintenance and Stephanie will tell you exactly what you need to keep it. Big plus, she sells Kevin Murphy products! Appointment making: Super easy and quick replies. Text friendly and convenient! Do it and you won’t regret.

Hair By JoNelle – Menu with Prices – 4205 S Gilbert Rd, Chandler

If you want to feel valued and appreciated as a customer, stay away from this business. After months of trying to get an appointment, I FINALLY got one and was told I needed to put a $50 deposit to hold the reservation. Despite my hesitation, I mean it took months to get an appointment, I agreed, writing “ok” in a text along with my email to send an invoice weeks before the appointment. When I went to follow up with her the day before that I hadn’t received the email asking for the $50 deposit, she very casually said “I never got your money, so I gave away your appointment.” When I showed her the screenshot of our texts that showed that I, in fact, provided her with the info to bill me, all she said was “oops, I never got your text. The best I can do is reschedule” and the next available appointment was one month later! No, “I’m sorry I can make this right by staying late one night to accommodate you” No “I can give you 10% off your next service to me” no attempt whatsoever to make it better. She must feel very confident that her client list is strong and going to last forever. My business clearly was not wanted.

Barberella’s barbershop – Menu with Prices – 9823 16th Ave SW, Seattle

I live in West Seattle and I’ve been traveling to Mountlake Terrace every two weeks for my haircut. The reason I drove so far was because the place I went to had plenty of chairs (with barbers working, no appointment needed, and they did everything a true barber should do (comfortable haircut, razor neck shave, ears, eyebrows, etc). After getting a mediocre cut I decided to look for something closer. I stumbled upon Barberella’s and thought this might be a good fit for me. I actually love the online booking..so easy. Their hours are great (open till 9pm) and thanks to Cristina and her very efficient cut I am sold that this place is the real deal. She did everything I expect from a sitting and also washed my hair…(scalp) after. My new go to…

Jersey’s Haircuts & Brews – Menu with Prices – 6726 Stanford Ranch Rd #4, Roseville

Without a doubt the worst haircut I’ve gotten in the 2010’s. Woman who cut my hair basically went against everything I said I wanted, changed the entire length/balance of my hair, and cut it so short that I can’t even go to get it fixed somewhere else yet. It’s been 6 weeks and somehow my hair is still both too short, and too long. Sometimes it’s hard to even leave for work in the morning because I feel like I look like an idiot and can’t do anything I normally do with my hair. My bangs are half gone, the middle of my head is weirdly longer than the front or back, I don’t know what to do with myself. And when someone at work asks about my haircut, I get embarrassed I even have to address it. It’s neat having a barber shop where you can drink and watch TV, but that doesn’t replace being a good barber shop. I’m never coming back here, I’ll take being sober over being butchered any day.

Johnny Rodriguez The Salon – Menu with Prices – 7500 Windrose Ave Suite B193, Plano

The short of it: they are high end place with all professional stylists and worth every penny (also, their price list is right online so there are no secrets here), open late and early Sunday-Saturday for convenience, valet parking in front or attached garage is literally right there. They want to offer the BEST experience and if you’re having a bad hair day, book your appointment now and stop looking. Johnny and Kate are a bit expensive to see, but their protégés are just as good and priced for the rest of us. I heard about the salon from the Legacy West Podcast. Yes, I’m a dork and you’re invited on the journey. The novel: I decided to go to a cheap place to get highlights. I ended up with worse than 90s chunky highlights, no toner, and a demarcation line. I called John Rodriquez the Salon 2 hours later (after a cooling off period) asking for a coloring expert–how much would it be to get this fixed and is coming in the same day too much on my hair? Lily put me in touch with Chrissie who was so sweet. She answered my questions patiently and was empathetic–it’s what I needed in the moment. She offered to take a look and do a free consultation. I said I would call back. (After conferring with my sweet hubby he said “go in and get it fixed, consult, color, cut–whatever you need”.) So I called back and booked all three for a few hours later. THEY’RE OPEN EARLY AND LATE! I came in for a 5:30pm appointment and Chrissie made my hair right again. She asked if I would be okay doing more blonde or if I wanted to blend my hair a little darker and got my input before taking the easy route (I wanted more blonde, so that worked great). She took notes about my desired cut and during styling gave me tips to style when I asked. She didn’t recommend any products as I didn’t ask, so I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything extra. I will NEVER try to save a few bucks on my hair again and I will just go see to this salon.

Wonder hair salon – Menu with Prices – 4425 Torrance Blvd, Torrance

Eugene was heaven sent ! Hubby was able to take a rare day off last minute and insisted I leave the house and get my nails done, a massage or a haircut or just drive somewhere to park and take a nap haha anything to get me out of the house (I have 3 kiddos under 3, yes yikes !) so I opted for a haircut. I knew it’d be a challenge finding an appointment anywhere soo last minute since I started making my calls at around 2:30. I checked a few reviews and made a few messages through yelp.. Eugene replied lightning fast and said she could take me in at 3:45. Turns out she had a last minute cancellation, I was super excited & super nervous since this would be the first time at a new place. Last time I tried a haircut with a good yelp following it didn’t work out for my hair and I was so disappointed… I sat in her chair, explained I was losing my hair by the buckets post having a baby (or 3) & my hair was very dry it sometimes gets extremely tangled. We came up with a game plan and I was whisked off to the heaven station or the hair washing station as some people know it by. She washed my hair, I requested the temperature to be cold since it was near 100 degrees out this day. I cannot describe the feeling, the cool water felt so amazing but the massage she gives when she’s shampooing and rinsing and conditioning and rinsing again ooh so amazing !!!!!!! I’m definitely coming back just for shampoo and blow dry appointments. I mean, it wasn’t a quick, here’s your “massage” now get outta my chair massage. It was an experience all on its own… once my hair was squeaky clean and scalp was done being in heaven it was time to sit in her chair and see how she’d do with my hair. Being that I’m losing my hair, I still have what some hairstylist call a “hair forest”.. I’m Hispanic so my hair is extremely thick and long and I have a lot of it… Being that Eugene is Asian, I was nervous that maybe she hadn’t worked on other ethnicity hair before (just a weird “what if” I had in my head), I noticed a lot of her products were Japanese so I just assumed her clientele was mostly Asian, and maybe it is but either way, she rocked it !!!! She handled my hair & my thickness sooo soo well! I absolutely loved my cut. I got home and my husband raved about my cut as well… all in all it was $70, which is a few bucks more than I’d expected but the experience and attention I received def merited it… def trust Eugene with your hair, once she’s got scissors in her hand she just gets so focused and ends with a win !

Tease Color+ Hair Design – Menu with Prices – 38-09 Union St, Flushing

BEST SALON EXPERIENCE EVER. BOOK ALVIN AS YOUR HAIR STYLIST. I first contacted Tease on yelp to book an appointment for balayage. They promptly replied to me and we ended up taking on WeChat. There I sent Pictures of my desired hair and date and time I wanted to come in. I came on a Friday around 4pm for a light brown ombré balayage for my virgin black hair. My hair stylist was Alvin – who is also the owner of the salon. TRUST ME YOU WANT TO BOOK HIM- not only does he have +18 years of experience but he stayed with me until MIDNIGHT FOR MY HAIR. I did about two rounds of bleaching and color and then finished off with a treatment for my hair. Not only did he make sure every step was perfect – he truly cares about his patients and he will make sure you don’t leave until you are satisfied. Even though the salon closed at 9pm he stayed with me till midnight until I got my perfect color I wanted – exactly like it photo I showed him- actually even better. The prices are so affordable and all the hair products they use are Japanese and less damaging than other salons. Lastly, after you change your hair color- you have a month to come in and do a FREE appointment where you can change your color or do a root touch up . Seriously, it’s conveniently located under Toto ramen and the best salon experience I’ve been too.

Bishops Cuts/Color – Menu with Prices – 6650 Irvine Center Dr, Irvine

WOW! Amazing place! I had a coupon to get a free haircut at this location, and this place has been on my radar since the shopping center across from UCI also has a location. When coming into the shop, they greeted me right away. No appointment is needed, though you might have to wait longer, especially if you have someone in mind. I had the pleasure of having Marina as my stylist. She took the time to figure out what color dye I wanted, to mix colors when she didn’t have the exact one I wanted, put it on. She was friendly, bubbly, and seemed interested in getting to know me. While that is not everyone’s cup of tea when getting their hair done, and usually not something I am interested in either, it was something I appreciated. The salon is not a place where they quickly cut your hair and kick you out. They take their time with washing your hair, making sure you’re fine throughout the process, and changing anything. Pros: Prices are decent; $35 for a women’s haircut, $65+ for a dye job (I ended up paying $80 for my hair with the free cut). Friendly staff. Pretty decent music (they seem to be playing Spotify so not what is typically on the radio). The company as a whole prides themselves in being open and welcoming of EVERYONE. This is a place to come if you are a part of the LGBTQ+ community because they will not judge you, and make you feel like your best self. Especially if you are younger! There was people of all ages in this shop. Cons: The parking sucks. I heard it’s better during the weekdays, but Friday and the weekends are harder to find spots. I ended up parking at the other end of the parking lot. Probably come before/after the lunch rush during the week if you want to park closer. Thank you for being such an awesome place! ?

Lina Haircut – Menu with Prices – 1060 Willow St Suite 8, San Jose

I went to Willow Glen to check out two barbers I’d found online. I parked in the strip mall behind Baskin Robbins in a spot reserved for one of the businesses. It must’ve been obvious I felt guilty because this nice lady came out and said, “It’s ok, you can park there. Just come to me to get a haircut sometime.” I couldn’t ignore the karma. Turns out the nice lady was Lina, owner of Lina Haircut. She said this was her second salon and it had been open just a few days. Partially out of guilt for using her parking space, I decided to have her cut my hair. And boy am I glad! She did a great job at a very reasonable price and I will be a regular client. In fact, I’m writing this review before heading over to get my hair cut. If you’re looking for a quality salon with great service and affordable prices in San Jose’s Willow Glen neighborhood, Lina Haircut is the place. #goodkarma
