I seem to find a reason to stop by Boxcar when I’m in Gainesville. Maybe because it’s housed in an old train depot (I’m a nerd like that), maybe because it’s surrounded a beautiful vibrant park, or maybe just because it’s cool. Cool in a very laid back, come on in an have a beer and relax kinda way. If you wanna laugh, come out on the first Friday and enjoy some comedy. You wanna let out your inner rockstar, come out on Thursday for karaoke. (Check their Facebook page for DJ’s & local band performances too). Or if you just wanna hang out and let the day peacefully pass into the night while you’re watching downtown G’ville start to take life – this place is cool. They do have food options and Humble Woodfire Pizza is parked right outside and Pop-a-Top is a few steps away. I like to grab something local (especially tamales from Tamal) and pick a spot to sit down and enjoy with a cold local brew (especially a 72 from First Magnitude). Depot Park is an amazing place to visit and Boxcar is a great way to finish out that visit on a high note!

Greer’s Liquors – Menu with Prices – 2351 El Dorado St, Stockton

I come here for a few things the beer and rockstars. I have certain spots in town where they get my business, This is one of them. I like to sip on New Castle and once in a while I’ll catch it for $9.99 a twelve pack. I also like the two rockstars for $3 too. The staff here is very cool, the owner is a very cool cat. He also owns Alpine market on California st by Oak Park. Yep, I stay local and support the business in the Oak Park area. Cheers ? Vincent D *VD* Life is Beautiful

Aunt Millie’s – Menu with Prices – 3899 N Dixie Dr, Dayton

A depot/thrift store. Thrift bread, buns and rolls are all priced at about $1. Also you can buy bulk animal feed (bread) for very low prices. The depot sends out trucks to service stores restaurants and events although you could buy fresh bread you would have to call ahead for pricing and availability.

Nine Pin Cider Works Menu with Prices 929 Broadway, Albany

Support local, support cute shops, support cool hang outs! I have never been to Nine Pin, really never had the cider much either, but mentioned going while we were at Druthers down the way and we all decided to go grab a flight. They have some parking but I can imagine it being hard to find a spot on a nice weekend. The outdoor area, entrance, tap room, everything is so well decorated, cute and inviting. I just enjoyed the feeling of walking in there with the bright greens and cool artwork. The staff was very pleasant and helpful in choosing a flight. I must admit, I do not like cider. Why did I want to come? Simple – Local cidery, good reviews, must visit! To my delight, they actually offered quite a few beers for tasting as well! I went with trying 3 of their dryer ciders and one IPA they offered. The flight was $7, not a bad deal. We sipped on them for about 30 minutes for our visit. Everyone’s favorite cider was the “Dark n Stormy”. It was nice they also offer snacks, such as hand pies and cheese plates. Very cool! I would like to come back to do some more tastings and enjoy the atmosphere. If you like cider this is a must stop!

Liquor Depot Express Dallas – Menu with Prices – 7512 E NW Hwy, Dallas

The liquor Depot is actually a liquor store that I go to somewhat regularly. I’ve never had a problem there, everybody’s always nice. Never have to wait too long. Night, I broke some bottle a bottle of vodka. well you buy it you break it it’s what I’ve always been taught but they didn’t make me pay for it they just cleaned it up. So I don’t recommend the liquor abuse but I would recommend the liquor Depot.

P & R Bakery N. Cafe – Menu with Prices – 1300 N 3rd St, Harrisburg

This is a family owned business and you can taste the love and pride they have in their food! Nora and Ed have been baking for a long while and I’ve had a chance to enjoy their delicious desserts while they were in the Broad Street Market. Now that they opened their own place just a few steps away from the Market, you get to enjoy their goodies for more than just 3 days. I ordered their 7Up Cake because my brother wanted to try and it was something I had previously. I called in at 1 to see if they had a whole cake available and they said that they would bake me one and it will be ready at 3. My family enjoyed a fresh cake that was flavorful and moist and made by this very kind family. They do offer many other specialties but I would recommend calling them a head of time to see if they have what you want available. I do suggest their cream cheese pound cake, 7Up or their Blueberry pound cake. All are flavorful and tasty! The price is very reasonable! I suggest instead of stopping in a grocery, go visit the local bakery to see what they are whipping up! They are also well known for their pumpkin and sweet potato pie. I haven’t had a chance to try it but if local restaurants are buying it from them to put it on their menu, you can’t go wrong!!

Central Depot – Menu with Prices – 103 W Depot Ave, Knoxville

The craft cocktail scene here in Knoxville is still somewhat on the rise. Not enough people are talking about it, due to how big craft beer is getting. Not that there’s anything wrong with craft beer. Lord knows I imbibe more than a fair share. Places like the Peter Kern Library, Oliver Royale, PostModern Spirits, and Central Depot are each doing their own take on elegant cocktails, and boy is it welcome. Central Depot is amazing in creating both delicious cocktails, and a somewhat local bar feel. When you’re there you really and truly feel like it is it’s own community. But if beer is more of your thing, they more than have you covered. Their tap wall is one of the best in town, serving up a plethora of locally brewed beer, and plenty of others from around the area. I love that they’ve partnered with Tako Taco, just up the road. If you need something to nosh on while enjoying libations, you can with quality food!

Rocco’s Italian Sausage – Menu with Prices – 2008 Magwood Dr, Charleston

Swung by Rocco’s while I was waiting to meet my husband at Home Depot. I had always heard good things about it and I was starving so I thought I’d give it a try. I got the large Philly cheesesteak to split (though I definitely could have eaten it by myself, I just knew my husband would show up and say he was hungry then ask why I didn’t get him anything). I only had to wait about 6-7 mins before indulging in this pocket of heaven, which is fine by me because I’m a total people watcher so I plopped myself down at one of the picnic tables and watched all of the people coming and going from Home Depot, which is entertaining in itself. Anywho, back to the sandwich. I believe the right meat to veggies to cheese ratio is key in a cheesesteak, and this one nailed it (I’m not even trying to sound corny or over exaggerated, it’s legit). So, next time you find yourself at Home Depot and realize you haven’t eaten lunch… don’t fear. Walk 20 feet outside to your left and you’ll have a delicious sammy in no time.

The Forum Club – Menu with Prices – 300 N Coit Rd #260, Richardson

Definitely a classic definition of a dive bar, but for the older crowd. Don’t be a newbie like my friend and I who came for happy hour and park on the west side of the bar. We thought this place was closed, and then noticed all the cool cats parked on the other side and came in through the back. The other reviewers mentioning the heavy smoke smell are accurate. If you can’t tolerate or prefer it, it’s best to avoid this place. The barkeep was very friendly and sweet. Definitely a grandmother who will look after you.

The Wild Way – Menu with Prices – 708 E 19th St, Kansas City

The KC coffee scene continues to be by far the most underrated in the country. Put us up against the big towns and I promise we’ll hold our own. Adding another delicious, unique and cool wrinkle to the coffee: The Wild Way Coffee Camper. Most months of the year, i.e. not the winter months where it hurts to be outside for more than 10 seconds, you’ll find Wild Way parked in the Martini Corner area slinging some seriously good coffee (duh) but also some insanely creative and natural coffee drinks. These ain’t the chemical-laden chain coffee flavors, these have that handmade local touch. But since my main jam is black coffee, I trusted Christine on a pour-over. She picked an Ethiopian one that was off the chain, and got me ready to go on a day I was hosting my biggest event of the year. Slightly fruity, balanced and chock full of caffeine, it was perfection. Christine, the owner, really helps make this what it is. She’s insanely friendly, knows her stuff when it comes to coffee (trust me I geek out over the stuff and she’s ten steps ahead of me), and makes a connection with everyone she talks to. I’m all in on this spot, and will go out of my way to try out some of the rotating seasonal creations that they crank out here.

Hangout Bar And Drive Thru – Menu with Prices – Pharaohs Shopping Center, 4703 Ayers St, Corpus Christi

This is a very unique local bar. You can drive into a part of it with carside service and never get out of your car. You can also park your car and go inside to enjoy your favorite brews with friends or set outside on their enclosed screened patio and enjoy table service. If you live in the area you will run into someone you know.

Hemming Park – Menu with Prices – 135 W Monroe St, Jacksonville

I do love coming to Hemming Park for their variety of events that they host, but it saddens me that now the fountain has been blocked in by bars and hedges. I remember hearing something about it on the News. The city did so as a deterrent to the homeless from sleeping along the fountain. Although the park is still a cool location for events its really depressing to see. By doing this the city also took away places to sit to enjoy a bite to eat during one’s lunch hour but at events as well thus limiting the amount of time spent at Hemming Park. These events host many food trucks and then the city takes away pkaces to sit? I definitely want to five 5 stars but the city has got to give more seating back.
