The Palm Court is one of the centralized locations in the main building of the Waldorf Astoria Boca Raton Resort. It would be hard for you to miss it! It’s a lovely place to sit and have a wine or in our case a light and hopefully less pricey meal on property. The Bar Luna is adjacent and services the Palm Court.. At first our waitress was on point; friendly; helpful; never letting our waters run dry. Our pizzas were smaller than we expected for the price but they were very good and with a glass of wine and salad to share this was a perfect meal. It still was $85 and that was one beer and a glass of chianti! Our waitress just started getting slower and slower with a return to our table and when she finally returned , I asked about desserts. She literally told me to go to Serendipity, the place next door , OR Lucca , the full service Italian restaurant on property. I asked her about the stuffed donuts I had seen in another Yelp review and she said those were at either place. Wow. As she walked away , I grabbed a menu from another table and asked another waitress for a dessert menu.. she swiftly returned and I ordered the donuts , ( it’s my husband’s bday and I thot it would be fun to treat him!) .. THEN our original waitress returns and says she is glad we got the dessert menu. No. That was a fib:) But, nice try. The donuts were worth the splurge and they did end up comping them .. But seriously, just because you are ready to not have customers any longer .. this happens to be a five star resort and lying about a dessert menu made this a 3 star review and a smaller tip too. It is a happening place ! Simple menu and yes.. it’s spends for simple food.. that’s what you get when a guest at the Waldorf!

Morimoto Sushi Bar Menu with Prices 501 E Camino Real, Boca Raton

I was underwhelmed. I was a guest at the resort and was looking for a quick light lunch. Well, it was quick, as we arrived at Morimoto at around 2:20 and they close at 3 and reopen at 5. After ordering our dishes and they were brought to the table, the waiter asked if we wanted to order “last round” as the kitchen was closing soon. No, we didn’t, because we didn’t want to be rushed. We needed to track down the waiter when he failed to bring ginger and wasabi, never succeeded as he disappeared to do his closing work. Nope, he should have been watching his one table. I went to the sushi bar and requested it myself. The green tea was served in an attractive metal kettle which leaked as you poured the tea. The restaurant was over-air conditioned, as well, making for an uncomfortable experience. Overall, a less than impressive dine. And for a restaurant in a busy resort hotel with many meetings and conventions, why close between 3-5? Where do the staff go? Makes no sense. If a guest at the property, I’d skip this place and go to Serendipity or Palm Court for a light bite. Or go over to the Beach Club side and use the restaurant there.

Laporta’s Restaurant Menu with Prices 1600 Duke St, Alexandria

This was next to our hotel and had decent reviews, so we booked a table to avoid walking further on a very hot week-end. The restaurant at 6:30 pm seemed a little dirty; the bases of the tables and window sills on the glass doors were dirty. We must have had a new waiter; he never brought us bread, asked when we were almost finished eating if our food was ok, and asked if we were ready for dessert although we obviously had food on our plates that we were still eating. For wine he gave us by the glass menus, and when my husband asked him for the more extensive wine list he said the very limited menu by the glass was all they had,we had to ask about all the wine bottles in the restaurant for him to remember they had a larger by the bottle wine list. The food was decent, presentation was nice. Although our waiter knew we are having dessert, he seemed to forget, had we finished our wine we would have skipped dessert. The Jazz was very nice until their vocalist joined in, ruined the ambiance of the bass and pianist. So we were disappointed in our restaurant choice. Too bad, they tried but need some help.

The Fish House Restaurant & Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 4910 N Clinton St, Fort Wayne

The kitchen needs Chef Ramsay! First time at this restaurant. Three employees were trying to fix the front door. They all greeted us and the hostess promptly seated us. The bartender/waitress (B/W) quickly appeared explained the it was 1/2 off wine by the glass night. She left us to look over the menu. We ordered a glass of wine each. I ordered 1/2 dozen raw oysters to be served as my meal (they were very large and wonderful). My husband ordered scallops with asparagus and crab slaw salad. About 15 minutes later 4 people were seated behind us. Over 30 minutes had passed since we ordered and my husband’s salad still had not been delivered. The table behind us got there crab salads, I said to the B/W excuse me where is my husband’s salad and I pointed to my watch. She said she was going to check and that there were only 2 people in the kitchen and that everything was made to order. I then walked around the restaurant to see how many people were in the restaurant. A couple had leftovers already bagged, 2 gentlemen were finishing their meal, a family of 6 were eating, us, and the table of 4 behind us. Definitely not a rush on the kitchen. I asked the hostess if there was a mgr on duty, yes a GM was there. As I was explaining to the GM, my husband’s salad came to the table as did my oysters. The B/W immediately returned with my husband’s dinner. The GM apologized and said she would comp our meal and give us dessert. I said that was nice, but not expected and I thanked her. The scallops were small and the asparagus woody ends were never cut off. He left those pieces on his plate the B/W asked if he didn’t like the asparagus. He replied, not the tough woody ends. She obviously told the GM, because we could here her talking to the chef about who made the asparagus, how long ago was it made, then she said it all needed to be thrown away. She then came out to the table behind us and told the woman not to eat the asparagus on her plate because it wasn’t any good and that she would compensate her for it. I did get some items from the salad bar, which was good. Dessert was never offered. We did tip on the full bill prior to the compensation. Sure hope they can turn the kitchen around, because this restaurant has good potential.

Mangia e Bevi – Menu with Prices – 3613 Ocean Ranch Blvd #100, Oceanside

We have been here a number of times and always enjoyed the food and service. Previous review on Yelp was 4-5 star for dinner. This time we went to the monthly wine dinner held the third Wednesday of the month and which we have attend before. The featured Winery was J Lohr. They had an outstanding menu that was paired with some very good wines. Quail egg on smoked salmon Benedict for opener. Lobster Risotto and then a Rib-eye steak. Last but not least an Apricot Tort. The food was excellent in taste and presentation. The delivery of the food was very slow and unfortunately the portions were very small. I am not a big person, so its not often I finish a four course meal and still feel hungry but I did as did several others at my table. When your paying $70 a person for the dinner and wine, you expect at least one glass of wine to be poured with each meal course. This held true for the Benedict where we got a full glass of Chardonnay and more was available if you wanted it. With the Risotto we got a 3 oz. pour at best and then had to practically beg to get a little more of the Paso Red Blend that was being poured. Since the food came out so slow, you had plenty of time to enjoy your wine, except whoops they were not pouring you any more. With the Rib-Eye course we got little more than a tasting pour. When we asked for a some more of this very good Cabernet Sauvignon , we were told no, this was a $160 bottle of wine and everyone was just going to get a taste. We didn’t even have enough to consume wine with all of our steak. The Tort came with a Late Harvest Riesling which they seemed to have plenty of being our least favorite wine, because we were poured a full glass and they said there was more if you wanted it. After the meal we spoke with one of the owners to express our disappointment with the way the wine was served and slowness of food delivery, especially the limited quantities poured with the prime entrees. He expressed that since the Cabernet was so expensive, to keep costs down for the event they limited the amount of the wine being poured. It would have been better to have poured less costly, good value wines, which I’m sure J Lohr has many of, then try to skimp on the pours that were given and have us come away unhappy. None of the six people at our table liked how this event went because of the slowness of meal delivery and wine rationing. We all had come to previous wine dinners. Four of us expressed we would likely skip future wine dinners for now.

Olivella’s Las Colinas – Menu with Prices – 5238 N O’Connor Blvd #134, Irving

Our first trip to this particular location and while the food was pretty close to what we’ve had at another location, the service had a lot in terms of improvement. Food was a respectable 4-5 stars. Service was about 2 stars. This particular visit happens to be on a Monday night and only one wait staff member and a manager on the floor. I get it, hard to find help these days so we’re ok and understanding. What made this visit extraordinary was the type of service we experienced from the manager and the sole staff member. Let me summarize…1) we asked for additional bread as part of our appetizers TWICE, got charged for it, but no bread delivered (when almost complete with meal and after we received our bill, the waitress asks “did your bread ever make it out”), 2) manager asked us to move our plates so he can place our food on the table (twice), 3) when we asked for another glass of wine, response from manager “yea but it will be a while”, 4) a small plate we had on the table was previously used by another patron, 5) while still only 80% finished with our meal, manager drops the bill at the table (literally as most of the table is still eating and I guess that means no dessert for you), 6) we asked for to go boxes and response from manager to waitress, “to go or pizza boxes?”; hmm let me guess since we only had pizzas for our meal, I don’t know maybe a happy meal box???, and so on. As some feedback to ownership, your manager should really omit their display of how frustrated they are to your customer…it is Hospitality and usually done with a smile, not out of frustration. Hope they improve their management and staff. Wouldn’t write this location off just yet as the food was good; however it will be a while for a repeat visit to let management transition out.

Bourbon Street – Menu with Prices – 300 Canopy St, Lincoln

We made reservations here and decided to leave before even ordering dinner so this review is based on our experience of ordering drinks only. 2 of us in our party, including myself, are big bourbon lovers. After sitting down we asked if there was a list of the bourbons they had and our waitress just pointed to the wall behind the bar and said “we have those.” um, ok. Another in our party asked about a price of one of the bourbons and she said “I don’t really know the prices. Do you want me to ask?”. Um, yeah? She came back with the price and he said “Ok, I’ll have that neat.” At that point she just looked confused and we could tell she didn’t know what it meant to order bourbon “neat”. We explained to her what that meant. Then another in our party wanted a glass of wine, but they only offer wine by the bottle. ?? I have honestly never been to a place that didn’t have at least a couple of ‘by the glass’ options. At this point we were just looking at each other in disbelief that a place called “BOURBON Street” doesn’t have a list of their bourbons, and the waitress we had didn’t know a thing about bourbon.

Matanzas Creek Winery – Menu with Prices – 6097 Bennett Valley Rd, Santa Rosa

I came here (July 2019) with my husband who is currently living across the country from me because I am in grad school here in Northbay for 6 months and it was sort of packed but they only had 2 people pouring and one of them kept going to the register and there were groups there that had 3-4 people. So they basically had 1 person pouring. It was difficult to do a tasting so we just ordered a glass of wine. I was a bit bummed by this so we walked around anyway. This place is absolutely gorgeous, romantic, fun, and has so many seating options. They have a lavender field you can walk through and lots of bees making lavender honey. I really love the property and was bummed I couldn’t do a tasting. I was really excited to come here and I usually buy the most expensive bottle at any winery I go to after I do a tasting but that didn’t happen this day. ***The 3 stars is for the lavender field, beautiful grounds and setting. PROS: – Beautiful grounds, lavender field, vineyard, – Seating in different areas – Cornhole, onsite beehive for lavender honey – Shop inside that sold lots of different lavender things made from their grounds – A little jar of lavender honey went for $6 – Water was outside the tasting room door – Beautiful seating overlooking the lavender field. Just gorgeous! – The property is really beautiful. I loved it’s setting. It was superb – Lots of rooms to do tastings or group events CONS: – Too busy to do a tasting. One person ringing up on one side of the room and another person pouring and couldn’t really get to us or take the time to get to us. So after waiting for about 10 minutes the person ringing up came over and asked us if we wanted to taste and also asked 2 groups next to us. What was the other person doing? I said yes and my husband said he wanted a glass (because we were waiting so long already and he was frustrated). She then started working with the other groups even though she asked us first. I just waved her down and asked for a glass instead. I was already there and wasn’t going to leave without a glass after walking through the property and up all those dang stairs. – Lots of stairs to get to the tasting room. I was in high wedges and it took a minute. – When you walk around I can see people with their office door working. Close your door, you’re ruining the experience for me. – Tasting rooms must’ve had an event because there were lots of dirty wine glasses in there with no people – Bought a glass of white wine and the pour was really weak as if it was a tasting. A bit of a rip-off. I was saddened. – Service wasn’t that great, left much to desire. Seemed like they were understaffed ***I really wanted to do a tasting but it was too difficult with the lack of staff they had. It took a good chunk out of our day with my husband visiting for us to go here and I didn’t get to taste anything except 1 glass of white wine that had a seriously weak pour. I bought a glass not a tasting of 1 wine. ** I might go back. If I do I will redo my review. *** Recommendation: I would like to return but not sure if I will. I would suggest calling ahead of time to see if they are busy and how many people are pouring. Maybe even ask if you can set a reservation.

George Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 327 W 200 S, Salt Lake City

As is all the rage for Valentines day George set out a Fixed Menu that looked like both a good value and great options. Sadly good and great are adjectives that I can only use to describe the expectation we had prior to actually having eaten at George. We arrived for our 615 reservation and were promptly ignored at the Host Desk while they attempted to deal with some disaster, the poor waiter at the desk looked like he might walk out mid shift- fair enough– shit happens. When we were finally acknowledged and taken to be seated the Hostess was cold and unpleasant and seemed to believe grunts and sighs were the appropriate communication strategy for an upscale Valentines evening. As we walked through the restaurant there were many tables that looked perfectly lovely, we were instead taken to a table that had clearly been shoved into an open spot as an afterthought to increase seating for the evening. When we objected to the cramped seating the hostess responded with “Well that’s where he told me to put you”. We didn’t take that table and instead pointed to a perfectly lovely 2 top that didn’t make you feel like you were eating in an afterthought. The hostess sighed and allowed us to sit there. Oddly this is where things go from bad to worse. The rest of the staff was far friendlier than the hostess but they appeared to be so far underwater (at 630 mind you) that no table was going to get decent service. As the dinner was a fixed menu there was a welcome bread that was delivered lukewarm and with a bit of a soggy bottom. When we mentioned to the Manager who delivered the bread that we wanted the wine pairing (including the glass meant to be paired with the bread) he responded that our server would be by. After a fairly lengthly wait our waitress finally arrived and clearly wanted us to just give her our order for the full fixed menu so that she could manage tables, we weren’t quite ready to order mains and that seemed to put her off a bit, but we ordered our first course. Our waitress departed to put our order in and retrieve the wine that should have been served with the bread and eventually returned with a quite good glass of rose frizzante that would likely have paired well with the bread had there been any bread remaining…. This mistiming of the wine and courses would continue through ought the night with at least 5 minute between the food and wine rather than them arriving together. I’m quite convinced had there been adequate staff our waitress would have been quite a good server but as it was she was both distracted and off her game. The food itself was generally quite good with the flavors well balanced and decent my biggest issue was that it seemed that both the food and wine had clearly sat for some time before being served. My husband loved his seafood and was quite fond of the flavors. The largest issue with the food was the dessert course which when served with gelato, cannot be allot to sit out. Our’s arrived with 1/2 melted gelato that while tasty was a bit of a soup. At the end of the meal we ended up putting our credit card on the edge of the table while we waited for the server. No one asked how the meal was and my impression was that they knew how it was — underwhelming in virtually every-way. To add to this mediocre experience a mandatory 20% tip was added to the bill brining our underwhelming meal to just over 200 dollars. Not a terrible amount for a fixed menu, but not great value for money given just how underwhelming it was. All in all it was a swing and a miss for George this Valentines.

Lula Drake Wine Parlour – Menu with Prices – 1635 Main St #2817, Columbia

Lula Drake is a very nice wine bar on main street in Columbia We wanted to check this wine bar out for the past couple of weeks, because it’s been highly recommended by friends. Because they’re located on main street , there is available street and garage parking nearby. The street parking is free after 6pm if you find some. Upon entering the wine bar we was greeted by bartender Jessica, who was very courtesy and professional while interacting with all of the guests. We had already eaten earlier this afternoon so we just decided to have a glass of wine, a local draft beer, and a cheese board. The wife said she enjoyed her wine, but felt that $11 a glass for Moscato was kind of high for a smaller city like Columbia. I had the Cabarrus Vanilla Coffee Blonde beer which was just okay, and kind of tasted just like a simple local draft beer. Now the ambience and vibe was very excellent. I would highly recommend it to friends and family members who want to have some good wine in the area.

Santa Fe Espresso Co. featuring Häagen-Dazs Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 56 E San Francisco St, Santa Fe

DON’T buy the donuts! My wife and I were looking for a little evening dessert with our daughters. Our girls got the ice cream and we got two donuts. The donuts were so bad I had to spit mine out into my napkin, and my wife, who LOVES dessert, threw hers out after just one bite. My wife asked the clerk if the donuts had been there for a while because they tasted so bad. The clerk just looked at her and said “oh, I’m sorry”, and walked away. He didn’t offer her something else, or her money back. NOT great customer service! So my advice, DO NOT DONUT!

The Palm Coffee Bar – Menu with Prices – 2922 W Magnolia Blvd, Burbank

The first time I stepped foot in The Palm Coffee Bar I thought I had walked into the lobby coffee shop of a resort in Palm Beach, FL. It’s curb appeal driving down Magnolia Blvd. drew me in. Once inside, the pink neon sign over one of the doorways that says, “This is the sign you’ve been looking for” won me over because pink is my favorite color and neon is fun. I loved the simplicity of the white walls with pink as the accent color. The light colored wood that is used for the menu board and shelving are fresh and airy looking. The whole vibe screams “vacation!” Darling gift items are available for purchase similar to ones you can pick up at a resort’s gift shop. I wanted to try a drink unique to The Palm Coffee Bar. The barista suggested one of their iced blueberry green tea matcha. Feeling like I was on vacation, I took his suggestion and it was delicious. The blueberry made it special. The flavors worked well together and were nicely balanced–not too sweet and not bitter. Since my first visit to The Palm Coffee Bar, I’ve been back many times for one of these yummy concoctions. Plus, who doesn’t like going on vacation?! Pastries, cookies, grab-and-go sandwiches and salads are available. If you’re in need of some R&R, stay awhile and have your sandwich toasted with a side of chips. Or munch on a bag of scrumptious Fiesta Pop kettle corn and an iced latte. They use Equator espresso beans. Street parking is available at this Magnolia Park vacation destination. I bet you find yourself vacationing at The Palm Coffee Bar quite a bit!

Marriott’s Grande Vista – Menu with Prices – 5925 Avenida Vista, Orlando

Usually we stay on property when visiting Disney World but on this trip we cashed in a week via Interval and took a chance on the Marriott Grande Vista – and we are glad we did! We greatly enjoyed the MGV resort property from the pools, the on-site restaurants and bars and the convenience of an on-site marketplace to grab snacks, drinks, sunscreen, etc. without having to leave the property.Although expensive (you pay for convenience) the Copa Loca bar was very cool. The drinks were great and the food was decent. Jerry & Troy took care of us on separate days and both did a fantastic job – never letting our plates or cups get empty before asking if we needed a refill, additional eats, etc.The Grille at the Grande Vista was okay from a food standpoint – which we visited for dinner and breakfast. We did receive great service from Ryin during a late dinner one night. He was very friendly and attentive even though we arrived just before closing and took great care of us.The property itself was really nice. It is a very large resort, and we wandered around it quite a bit visiting the different pools, eateries, marketplace, ice cream shop, etc. Lots of interesting things to check out if you like to walk around and just check out your vacation surroundings.Overall – we were very pleased with our stay at MGV resort and spa and it met our needs as a family of four (two adults, two teens) staying in Orlando for a week – and needing comfortable, spacious, clean accommodations with ample amenities and being well located for all the major attractions available in Orlando.
