We were very sad when Blue Bell Ice Cream wasn’t available but now we are very happy because their business returned and all of our family enjoys it very much. Though, we would enjoy that more flavors were available to us in El Paso, Texas Walmart stores such as Cookies and Cream and Peaches and Homemade Vanilla. We love Blue Bell Ice Cream.

Urban Churn – Menu with Prices – 1004 N 3rd St, Harrisburg

This is not cheap ice cream. It’s made with good things and awesome flavors. It is not made with fillers and garbage and artificial bits and pieces. This is the real deal. It’s worth every penny. We’ve been here a few times and it’s hard to recommend the specialty flavors because they change. So, I’ll start with the basics. The vanilla is a rich, creamy, mildly vanilla vanilla. Excellent flavor. Super smooth. The last time I was there, I ordered it as a cookie sandwich. It was $5 and the cookies paled in comparison to the ice cream. The cookies were hard, bland, and the chips were too small and hard. It was impossible to eat it without the ice cream squeezing out. Skip the cookies and order extra ice cream. That’s my official recommendation. As for the chocolate ice cream. People who know me know I hate almost all chocolate ice cream. HOWEVER. Not this one. The last time we were there, my son ordered three scoops of the chocolate and I had a taste. Actually, I had several tastes. ? It was really good. The same rich, smoothness of the vanilla with just enough chocolate flavor. $5 for three scoops and he couldn’t finish it (and he’s a 14-yr old who can eat an entire loaf of bread if I’m not looking). My daughter ordered the affogato (cold brew and ice cream). She was a traditionalist and chose the vanilla ice cream. My daughter loves cold brew. My daughter loves ice cream. Apparently, she’s not happy that I didn’t tell her about things like affogato dessert drinks years ago. She was hooked from the second it hit the table. Cold brew over their creamy vanilla ice cream, topped with whipped cream that is drizzled with honey. Worth every penny, every carb, and every calorie. All that bliss for $6. Her boyfriend had the root beer float. He liked it, but I think it was too sweet for him. My hubby ordered the smoked maple pumpkin which was a special flavor. It was fabulous. Seriously yummy. I had a bite – or two – or three – it was great. In a waffle cone. $5 for the two scoops with the homemade cone. I just checked their website. They currently have Maple Scrapple flavor and I feel I must get there before it’s gone. I love scrapple. I love ice cream. What’s not to like? Seriously – go there. In the summer, the line can get a little long and there is very limited seating. I didn’t know they had international style hot chocolate options so there’s a good reason to go there in the winter, too. Hot chocolate with a scoop of vanilla ice cream? Hell yeah!

Walmart Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2711 Elm St, Erie

ended up walking out of Walmart today. I go in there to get sugar free French vanilla creamer and they have absolutely none but their own brand. And I say well and move on and look for spaghetti. Everyone else’s brand was much higher than Walmart’s brand and even higher than supermarket stores around Walmart. So I say forget that one as well. I move on and go look for alcohol pads. I get over there again no other brand except Walmart brand available. Walmart brand alcohol pads are no good additionally it was a very small box for the price. So I walked out. It’s come to the point where they push all of their stuff at a normal price and higher all of the name brands so you feel pressured to buy theirs in order to save money.

OTTO Gelato – Menu with Prices – 125-400 5 Ave SW, Calgary

Most delicious gelato I’ve had, and yes I’ve been to Italy. These guys are from Sicily and Hand make small batches of their gelato. I tried pistachio (they hand roast the pistachios to really get that flavor and it comes through beautifully), London fog (which is a mix of earl grey and vanilla-I had this affogato style with espresso and let’s just say…I came back the next day for more), cookies and cream (the richest cookies and cream I’ve ever had, vanilla base with crushed cookies but the ice cream looks like chocolate-that’s how much of the cookie they pack in!), and salted caramel (homemade caramel and my absolute FAVORITE. So rich and creamy!). These brothers have knocked it out of the park. I would come back to Calgary just for this gelato!!

La Michoacana Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 1845 E 4th St, Ontario

Just came back from eating here and I can’t wait to go back! They have so many flavors in both ice cream and popsicles! Also fresh juices, corn on the cob, fruit bowls, shaved ice, and more! Ice cream Coconut (5 stars): One of the best coconut ice creams I’ve had! Caramel (4 stars) Tequila (4 stars) Strawberry cheesecake (4 stars) Cookies and Cream (4 stars) Vanilla (5 stars): One of the best vanillas I’ve had! Popsicles Strawberry with cream at the bottom (5 stars) Coconut (5 stars) SERVICE (5 star) Everyone was so nice here! The owner came out and let us try as many ice cream flavors as we liked. The woman working there was really nice too! Very welcoming. ATMOSPHERE The plaza isn’t the most fanciest place but when you go in here it’s nice and clean. They have tables inside and outside. PARKING In a plaza so parking is easy. Usually when I go to homemade ice cream places I only find one or two flavors I like but I liked everything I tried! Can’t wait to go back. My entire family loved it. I’m probably going to be addicted to this place.

The DW Cookie Company – Menu with Prices – 18962 Soledad Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita

How do you make the best cookies? Drive down Soledad to DW Cookie Co! I have heard about this place for years and haven’t made it there, until today. I am so glad I did. I was greeted with a warm welcome by DW and the store is very welcoming to customers as well. There are a couple of table and chairs to sit and enjoy his delicious creations on site. I didn’t stay and eat there but will probably on another visit. I picked up two homemade ice cream cookie sandwiches for my boys. You can pick the cookie and ice cream flavor of your choice. I took the basics, chocolate chip and vanilla ice cream. There was nothing basic about the taste. My boys devoured them in minutes and asked if there were any more! I also got a half dozen assorted cookies cookies, two of the Liz cookies (choc chip and toffee), two of the white choc and cranberry cookies, two of the toffee, pecan, and another ingredient (I forgot) cookies and DW threw in an extra chocolate chip. Got to my car and couldn’t wait to get home to try one. Ate the toffee cookie in the car. Buttery, crisp, chewy and soft at the same time. So delicious it melted in my mouth. Sweet but not too sweet and just perfect. Can’t wait to try all the other flavors, but I guess I should share. Looking forward to going back. Great cookies and excellent/ amazing service and atmosphere. Thank you DW for giving us such a great spot to treat ourselves!!

Helados Guadalajara – Menu with Prices – 837 Performance Dr, Stockton

You had helados before. Or maybe you know it as paletas. or maybe Mexican Ice-cream. Well whatever the case, we all remember the guy with a mariachi mustache pushing the ice-box with the word ‘helados’ on it, while yer chillaxin in the park on some family event. And usually, you don’t buy nothin cuz it be costin you a dollar right?…and you say, “That’s too expensive for some flavored ice… 1) we all know it ain’t flavored ice 2) we wanted it bad enough that we bought one for 3 nieces and nephews to share after we had our dibs on it. So this place is the MOTHERSHIP of them all…when you see it at the stores, gas stations, and the mariachi man with his sweaty eager hands ready to make a dollar off you…. 50 cents per Helado. And get this: get a dozen for 5 bucks (das 2 extra free) THIS IS THE HELADOS FACTORY, where they make it, package it, and sell it to all the middle men to sell to you with 100% profit. Flavors available: Lime Strawberry (with reall strawberry pieces) Eggnog (during fall season [they close around October]) Rice (like Horchata [frikkin good w/ cinnamon coating]) Coconut Cookies and Cream Vanilla (more like chocolate chip [w/ chocolate shavings]) Pecan Walnut Strawberry and Cream Cucumber & Chili (one of my favorites) Chocolate Pumpkin (fall flavor) Pistachio I can’t remember the all the flavors…but I usually get the cookies and cream and rice and cucumber/chili (I love how you have to ring the doorbell/buzzer so they can let you in)

Coffee Emporium – Menu with Prices – 5817 N Mesa St, El Paso

What a cool coffee shop! Its more than coffee.. its chocolates, fudge, seasonings for oils, flavored oils, baking goods, finger food items, el paso souvenirs, jewelry, accessories… its endless! I could spend hours hanging out here or just looking at everything they offer! All while enjoying my double shot latte and fudge! Lol I think my only gripe is how the latte tasted. The coffee flavor to it just wasnt as smooth as i like it to be so i was slightly disappointed in that aspect. I still enjoyed finishing it though. And the fudge i got was regular milk chocolate flavored i believe and it was delish! I guess i got too excited when i was hoping for other flavors like pb and chocolate or cookies and cream. Today, they offered the milk choc or added pecans or walnuts basically. Not a fan of whole nuts in my fudge. Their milk choc fudge is delicious tho! Overall, great lil spot to grab some sweets or a coffee. I think I’ll try their el paso latte since that has cinnamon in it and could balance out the coffee bitterness more! Cant wait to visit again

Double Dipt Homemade Ice Cream & Fresh Cafe – Menu with Prices – 505 S Water St #515, Corpus Christi

In all fairness we didn’t taste the (Blue Bell) ice cream, nor did we stick around to try any of other ice creams the smaller case. Parking was a bear because some guy was fixing a car door’s window and hogging the only open spot. He told us to park in the fire lane, which we didn’t do because he probably wouldn’t pay our parking ticket, so to his annoyance, we squeezed into the spot next to hous auto garage/parking spot. His constant inquiring about whether or not we were going to get ice cream made me think he owned the ice cream joint. We walked in and didn’t get a greeting or acknowledgment by the female working the counter- this, in spite of the fact that we were alone in there save one couple. We weren’t impressed that the bulk of the ice cream sold was Blue Bell (we can go to HEB and get that for less money). What small selection of “homemade ice cream” they did have had some ice crystals on the surfaces of some of the flavors. A quick look around the place revealed flies, a messy island/food prep area, a couple of reach-in fridges that had all kinds of crap in them, and, what appeared to be, the owner’s laptop on a table in the dining area right next to a pack of cigarettes and paperwork. It all just seemed skeevy and like a health code violation waiting to happen. We turned on our heels and walked back to our car, but not before the “mechanic” asked us why we didn’t get any ice cream.

Magic Cookie Company Bake Shoppe – Menu with Prices – 702 Raspberry St, Erie

It’s always great to get a taste of homemade – not like the ‘generic’ cookies in the grocery stores. I have always received quick service and have always been happy with my purchases.

The Constellation Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 10175 E 29th Dr, Denver

Ummm… Guess I don’t get the hype. Or maybe my taste buds aren’t like others who rave about this place. Or maybe, just maybe, the ice creams are mediocre but the cool looking airplane storefront is what makes people think the ice creams are the sh*ts. I had salted nutella & my companion, salted Oreos. We tasted vanilla which was again mediocre. Just a few steps away, at king soopers, you can get blue bell ice cream if your gem is vanilla. Anywho, back to my salted nutella, it was ok… But I couldn’t finish the small scoop. The salted Oreo was more like salt ice cream, no Oreos. Perhaps even bigger issue for me was the texture & temperature of the ice creams. It had distinct lard-like texture, super thick, heavy, fatty (not in a good way) stuff that doesn’t melt beautifully on your tongue but instead it kinda sits on your tongue & sticks. Perhaps due to this, the ice cream didn’t feel cold, but instead just kinda lukecold, is that a word? Well, I’m using it anyway, cause it was exactly that, lukecold. Do you like lukewarm soup when you were expecting piping hot, steamy delicious soup? Yeah, me neither. Ice cream should be cold, delicious, melt beautifully, with good flavor & texture. Unfortunately, that’s not what I got. For the same price, or for a little less, I will b frequenting the king soopers for tried & true ice creams like blue bell & Hagan daaz. I’m disappointed that the ice creams were so bad at this beautiful store which took forever to go up. Service was good.

Jeanne’s Gelato & More – Menu with Prices – 2003 Lincoln Ave, Evansville

The owner is very friendly and when I expressed my dismay that she had only just finished the coconut gelato and it wasn’t one of the options we were able to consider for our 5 choice sampler she brought me out a spoonful to try. That’s very superior customer service. The berry, pineapple and roasted almond gelatos were my favorites out of the five we tried. The vanilla was more of a pallete cleanser than a taste sensation, which is kind of a good thing when you have that many flavors going on. The peaches and cream wasn’t really my personal favorite although it was pretty good, I just didn’t like the chunks of frozen peaches in it, although my boyfriend liked them just fine and they weren’t a dealbreaker for him. Like, I said, it was good, but it wasn’t my favorite. She also has a frequent buyer’s card. Her prices are good and this makes them that much better. Her gelato is really good overall.

Dari Fair (Open Summers Only) – Menu with Prices – 2813 Kilburn Ave, Rockford

Went here on may 25th 2019, it was a horrible experience. We order two large vanilla shakes and a large butterscotch milk shake and a marshmallow malt and a cheese cake sundae and a unusual Sunday with blue raspberry. Got all of our stuff and guess what the butterscotch was a small so we went back up and said we ordered a large they said we’ll make one. Waited for 20 minutes and went back up there to see what was going on and supposedly the girl with brown hair and glasses said she went it down as a small and said we have to pay the difference for a large after we had three milk shakes melt for waiting on the one that wasnt even being made so I told we shouldn’t have to pay when it was her mess up so she didn’t and made us one. But when we got it. It was just vanilla not butterscotch at all so I take it back and she said its loaded with butterscotch but it wasnt. I will never go there again you guys have lost about 30 people to go there. So thank you very much for the awful experience. I’ll be taking my business some where else. You guys are slow and the people are rude.
