I stopped by 30 mins before closing. My first impression when I was entering the bakery… I thought it was out if business. It’s because the shelves were pretty much empty. As it turned out, their baked goods, including their pepperoni rolls in various sizes, rolls, and variety of bread were sold out! There were some bread left when I arrived. Chris, the owner, was so welcoming and inform. He shared the story of the bakery, and I enjoyed my visit very much. I was blessed to get to try his Italian Bread. Oh my goodness! The crust was crispy and has this tasty flavor. The center of the bread was so soft. A perfect combination. I was disappointed that he doesn’t sell Pierogies in the Summer time. I was looking forward to trying them after reading the reviews. I told Chris that I can’t get up that early… With their hours being 9-1. He said that I can call and reserve the pepperoni rolls. That I plan in doing. I’m vacationing in the area, and I told him that I really want to try his pepperoni rolls before I head home. Chris was so fun to talk to. He even came out to my car to see my pups, my travel buddies. ð??ð??ð??? I can’t wait to go back tomorrow to get myself some pepperoni rolls… Even though I avoid eating pork and beef… I’m making an exception. ð??ð??? I notice the prices are displayed on the wall. Wow! Comparing to Northern VA prices, his prices are soooo low and affordable. ð??²… I went back the next day after calling Chris to save some Pepperoni Rolls for me. They are delicious! So much pepperoni and the bread/rolls are so soft, as though they just came out if the oven. I got another loaf of Italian Bread, and it was so soft. I ended up feeding the geese and their babies, because they looked hungry. I might go back in the morning on my way home and on pick up another loaf and more pepperoni rolls for my trip home. ð??? I can’t believe how low his prices are!

Di Lauro’s Bakery and Pizza – Menu with Prices – 502 E Division St, Syracuse

Let’s start this admission to all that my name is Mike and I’m a carbs fan… (hi Mike) We have a few prominent bakeries here in Syracuse that I’ve only had the recent pleasure to discover. The big contender to beat in this city is Columbus bakery – and it’s hard… Both establishments are icons in the salt city, serving a diverse community only miles apart but PBS gave them a recent boost by giving them some air time. Their bread is classic and divine… however this isn’t a Columbus bakery review. In a corner of Syracuse that was the mainstay of middle class Italian America over 100years ago, Mr. John Di Lauro brought his recipe and baking style here. A bakery and business was opened that continues to provide and produce a unique, quality product that many of us can’t do without. Many a local Restaurant mentions the rolls or buns from Di Lauro’s that they present their offerings upon (Burgers exclusively on a Di Lauro’s bun) Here I am to offer mine… a simple roast beef sandwich, homegrown tomato, provolone cheese, lettuce, mayo, wegmans sandwich sauce (you know what it is) and this delicious roll that pulled it all together. Holy Crap what have I done to myself. Honestly I was drawn there today by the talk of the calzones and dilunas – $3.50 for a Diluna that will make you hide in embarrassment to admit that you ever gave the thought of tasting a “hotpocket”… I had one and almost couldn’t drive home this afternoon, it’s cheese, pepperoni, pepperoni oils and oh yes did I mention the CRUSTY YUMMY DOUGH? Sorry… and I also walked away with sub rolls and a loaf of soft side Italian bread. So I made my sandwich/grinder/sub/gastronomical delight… you should come and get some. The world needs mom and pop places to remain unique…

Pyrenees French Bakery Menu with Prices 717 E 21st St, Bakersfield

“Oh So Tender” I am a major breadaholic…no really! My family and I love love love Pyrenees Bakery and have been buying their bread for thirty plus years. Most local Restaurants serve Pyrenees Bread if they are of any stature in town. I am a big time BBQ’er / Pellet Smoker and often smoke Pork Butt (shoulder) and when I do my pulled pork I ALWAYS call up Pyrenees the day before and order my special “Large Hamburger Rolls With Sesame Seeds” OMG!! We also, because so affordable order Soft Sandwich Rolls, a loaf of Sourdough and a loaf of French bread as well. The bread is ALWAYS fresh and the Gal’s behind the counter are all sweethearts. Take cash or your checkbook because they do not accept credit cards. Please don’t change a thing!!

International Bakery – Menu with Prices – 610 W 18th St, Erie

Most authentic Italian bakery in Erie. If you want genuine Italian cookies, imports, breads, rolls, and the best pizza shells in town this is the place to go. Place was started by first generation Italians and have been going here since my childhood years! Years ago they used to make an out-of-this-world garlic bread. I wish they would bring that back. It wouldn’t be Sunday without waking up to a warm fresh loaf of garlic bread!

Scordato Bakery Inc – Menu with Prices – 5011 W Howard Ave, Milwaukee

Scordato Bakery is one of the best in the city. The bakery offers a wide variety of traditional Italian cookies that are beautiful to look at and so tasty. I often bring them to gatherings and an Italian friend commented that they were the best she had ever had and asked me a lot of questions about the bakery (she had never been, but now it is the only bakery she frequents). I actually learned about it from my sister who lives in Brookfield. There have been many stories about this bakery and their expertise and absolute joy in making the cookies. They sell them in a nice presentation box for a gift with each cookie described as well as by the pound. My sister purchased one of the presentation boxes of cookies at Sendiks and served it over the holidays and knew a lot about the bakery as she worked at the Milwaukee Journal and they wrote about it several times as one of those places that is a hidden gem in Milwaukee and well worth traveling too. We live pretty close, and often pick up their bread (very tasty), ham and rolls, and something fabulous is their pizza. It has a doughy bread crust and an awesome tomato/cheese topping and they sell it by the piece. Of course the sweets are out of this world. I am told by those of the Italian community that this bakery sells some specialities that are hard to find. Well worth traveling to this bakery from any part of the city – very fresh, authentic, tasty and reasonably priced. Also, nice people who own/run the bakery.

Addeo Bakery – Menu with Prices – 2352 Arthur Ave, The Bronx

Small bakery in the Bronx. We read reviews for the bakeries in the area and it seemed like this might be the best one to pick up some bread for dinner. My inlaws love fresh bread and cheese and I knew they would appreciate good fresh baked bread. When you look in the window you see a bunch of different loaves of bread. It makes it hard to choose. We went with three. They are all so delicious. Like seriously some of the best bread I have ever eaten. I wasn’t alone, my wife’s whole family loved this bread and raved about it. I have only eaten them with butter but I intend on making garlic bread with one loaf and grilled cheeses and French toast tomorrow with the leftover bread. The lady working inside was super nice. I asked her for a recommendation and she showed me what most people buy there. It was one of the three that I was selecting. This place is a must if you are in the area and are looking for killer Italian bread. All three loaves cost $10 which was totally worth it. The loaves of bread are really big. This bakery also smells amazing. There is metered parking all around so your best bet is to drive up to the bakery and just look for parking.

Oakwood Baking Co – Menu with Prices – 585 S Waring St, Detroit

Most people who live in the Detroit area have seen the big bakery bags with Oakwood plastered up the side. Some of you may have even got some fresh once or twice. I have purchased these also and they pale in comparison to what that bread is suppose to taste like. The normal Italian bread fresh out of the oven has a perfectly crispy outside and a fluffy chewy inside… the perfect italian bread. The bakery is a big house in a neighborhood near bayside (last area in southwest Detroit before you reach Melvindale). The area is a bit sketchy, but for good bread, there isn’t much I won’t do. As soon as you step out of your car you realize how blessed this small city block is. To walk out of your house every morning only to be greeted by the most wonderful smell of bread must be heaven! Walking into the bakery can be a little confusing. My first time my girlfriend and I nearly gave our selves the full tour before finding any employees. The man who normally helps you is a 50 somethings Italian man with a very very thick accent. There is not much to place though, nothing to browse through, they only make a few types of bread here. Just pick up a few fresh loaves and be on your way. I recommend buy 2 or 3 though because they are dirt cheap ($.50 for day old and 1:50 for fresh) and I have almost eaten a whole loaf on the ride home and I only live 5 minutes away. You have to go early to get the really fresh stuff.

Luigi’s Family Bakery – Menu with Prices – 83 Forest Ave, Buffalo

Luigi’s is quite simply a little old-school gem. The family bakery is located in an unassuming brick building, but as soon as you step out of your car you’ll smell the deliciousness going on inside. Crusty breads and rolls, home-made doughnuts, and a nice little selection of Italian pastries fill a glass-front cabinet adorned with handwritten signs describing the offerings and prices. Good luck choosing! Everything I’ve ever tried has been wonderful. And I love that the bread has about four ingredients–none of which are scary-sounding additives! Happily, the warmth doesn’t stop with the tasty baked goods; the service is just as special. I’ve never stopped there without a good story to tell when I got home. On one visit, I ordered doughnuts, a couple pastries, and two loaves of bread. When the gentleman behind the counter told me, “That’ll be $3.25,” I said, “That doesn’t seem right. It has to be more than that!” His smiling reply, “I own the place, it costs what I say it costs.” Yesterday, I slipped in a few minutes before closing and I ordered Italian bread. After a few moments of discussion, the ladies at the counter concluded that the two loaves left were “too hard” and offered me BOGO French bread instead–two loaves for $2! Luigi’s is not fancy or upscale, it’s just wonderful. Skip the supermarket bakery sometime and give them a try!

Palma’s Bakery – Menu with Prices – 3 Acton St, Worcester

Being Italian and growing up in East Boston had me surrounded by wonderful bakeries and amazing bread. When we moved out here last year I tried to find Italian bread but only found it in the supermarket – which is not italian bread. The Italian bakeries in Shrewsbury do not make bread, just pastry. I’d beg my mother to bring me bread from Boston but really wanted a place out here. My neighbor told me to try Palma’s so we did and we are hooked. The bread is amazing but so are the sandwiches and cold cuts. It instantly reminded me of home, especially because we got the bread right out of the oven. It was so hot they couldn’t cut it and all the way home it smelled amazing. It was perfect. The Italian sub was great too and on a freshky baked roll. I’m so happy to have good Italian bread again – along with the amazing sandwiches.

Bimbo Bakeries USA – Menu with Prices – 5050 E Evans Ave, Denver

I love these little bakery-adjacent outlet stores. This one will give you a free “loaf of bread” with your first purchase. You will also get a free “loaf of bread” with every $10 spent. In case you’re not getting enough free bread, you will also be given a punch card, which entitles you to TWO free loaves of bread after you spend $40 (“punches” are in 8 – $1, 10 – $2, and 4 – $3 increments so you’re basically guaranteed to get the full value of each purchase recorded on the card). “Loaf of bread” is anything off a rack by the door that, on my visit, had bread, buns (hamburger and hot dog), and english muffins. There’s a huge variety of products available. 3 for $5 Thomas bagels. $2 loaves of good, dense, whole grain & seed bread. $1.50 potato buns. Plus a huge variety of desserts and snack cakes and more breads and buns and flats and granolas and seeds… as well as some non-bakery items like jellies, drinks, takis, condiments, and jerky.

Big Sky Bread Co Inc – Menu with Prices – 6606 N Western Ave, Oklahoma City

I feel like this is my second review of BSB, but I am very absentminded. I’m just confused because I feel like I’ve been here before but can’t find it Their bread makes the best bread based items. I guess I could just say they have the best bread. Seriously look at the ingredient list on their breads and argue with me about it. You’d look silly Most of the time I’ll buy the German rye because I love making grilled cheese with that. The cinnamon raisin is an awesome dessert; just eat it plain right out of the bag. I dare you to make bread pudding or French toast with it. Don’t ask me if I have cause I’ll just lie and say no They can slice a loaf for you thin or thick and they have two loaf sizes They have cinnamon rolls and granola and cookies and muffins among other things too Parking and accessibility are a cinch

Mediterra Bake House – Menu with Prices – 1979 W 25th St # B9, Cleveland

I’m not really eating bread much these (I know, it’s sad…) But you can’t *always* say no, especially to a man holding a glorious, rustic, crusty loaf of perfection right in front of your chin at the West Side Market. So, I gave in. And what a way to give in, people. I didn’t waste my bread cheat day on some whack rolls or flatbread pizza that I’d regret later, oh no. I went all out. To start from the beginning, we went to the WSM. On a Saturday. After 3PM. (We’ve lived in Ohio City for *years* and you still can’t avoid this all the time.) Anyways, not only was it a madhouse, but most all the typical bakery stands we go to were sold out. That is, until we saw Mediterra. And honestly, I’m not really sure what took us so long to notice this place. I mean, it’s near a bunch of the stands we frequent on a regular basis… Anyways, we turned to see this glowing case full of crusty loafs looking rather delicious. The gentleman came right up to us to see what we were looking for. My beau replied that we were making a roast (meat from Vince’s, of course) and he was looking for a nice loaf of crusty bread to serve it with. The gentleman knew right away, picked it up and showed us. Then, here’s the best part, he squeezed it a little to show us its perfect crust. All you heard was this glorious “crunch,” and we were sold. He wrapped it up WITH instructions hand-written on the package of the proper temperature/time to reheat it. Mind you, we didn’t ask for this info, it was just given. He also threw in a free package of buns (the most delicious-looking ones I’ve seen-almost too perfect) since it was towards the end of the day and we were new customers. So, we took it home, warmed it up in the oven at 325 degrees for 20 minutes and it was utter perfection. Perfectly toasty, crunchy on the outside, chewy, giving way to soft in the middle. And don’t tell anyone, but it’s perfect for French toast making in the AM… Four stars for now, until I come back to try more varieties.

Nicosia’s Bakery – Menu with Prices – 781 Burke Ave, The Bronx

this bread bakery brings back plenty of good memories for me . it’s been on burke ave the bronx since the early 1925 and folks keep coming for the fresh italian bread that is second to none. when i was a young lad i would be on burke ave hanging with friends and visiting my granny and aunt who lived right across the street from the bakery and that smell of fresh hot bread hitting the air was powerful . they bake the bread really early in the morning and then deliver the assorted breads and rolls to supermarkets , deli’s , bodegas , etc . the shop itself inside and outside is plain and simple but it’s all about the breads . they also carry cookies and other types of pastries but for me it’s a few loafs of seeded bread and it’s a wrap . i recommend coming in the morning when everything is still hot and fresh . the prices are still reasonable and quality has not dropped after all these years . i grew up in the area and nicosias bread bakery is one of the reasons i make an effort to keep coming back.
