Barbecue stand at this location was once owned by another with a different name Before seeing the new sign, Big Mike’s Tids & Bits, you know something has changed because this site has been spiffed up to say “pride of ownership” in the best way. Delightfully friendly service from the woman at the window helping my husband complete our order. Unfortunately, he isn’t the inquisitive type and I was unable to get to the window to ask questions like “What is the redneck sundae listed in the bbq section of the menu?” or “Do you have any homemade huckleberry ice cream today?” Next time. There will be one because we were plenty pleased with eats and service. It is only awkward site and absence of facilities that have us at 3 stars. MENU & EATS: Barbecue meats, poultry and sides – see menu photo here – https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/big-mikes-tids-and-bits-boise?select=P-u_HT4cnA7pNm28EaYeJw . While we don’t often eat poultry, the chicken offered here (when available as it has limited service times) in whole or half sounds intriguing – infused with orange, pineapple and guava – for us to try. Sides are limited to potato salad – as listed on their menu but is really a mac-potato salad which works even better for me – and really good baked beans. When my husband asked if they made coleslaw the nice woman at the window said no, but they did do a vinegar red cabbage for the pulled pork and she’d be happy to sell us a side of cabbage. If you’re a coleslaw fan you’ll probably like this too. We did. A tip to ask about it. Sometimes they have homemade ice cream in strawberry, vanilla or huckleberry. OUR CHOICE AS SERVING SIZE EXAMPLE: We took away the 7 rib option ($19) for lean, perfectly barbecued dry rub ribs that were meaty and more than amply fed two of us. Good barbecue sauce is tucked in with the order in a little container to add when you eat if you like to. Orders come with two sides. Sides are small portions; definitely sized for one person. Next time we’d order another portion of sides. PRICE POINT: If the price seems a little high to some, as I note in other reviews, we thought prices were very fair given the quality of the food. With the ribs, the included sides of potato-mac salad and beans plus the extra side of red cabbage ($2), a total of $21 for a good meal for two…no cooking needed when getting home late to watch the Yankees beat Cleveland in the playoffs. Winner! NICE DETAIL: Everything was nicely packed to travel for take out. The woman at the window asked if we wanted the ribs in a slab to cut at home or for her to do it there. (We chose the former…they travel best and stay moistest.) THE DRILL: Order at the window or call ahead to order. If you’re not taking away, this owner has kept the little screened in ‘shed’ on the site where you can “eat in” in better weather. PARKING: Deep gravel lot. ACCESSIBILITY: Dicey. Which is why I can’t make it to the window. I have MS and associated mobility limits. Deep gravel lot can make it impossible for the 11% of the population with mobility limits to get from point A to point B with that surface. If you don’t have someone to get to the window for you, I bet these folks would deliver your order to your car window if you called ahead. LOO: None here. LOCATION: Address on State Street is listed here as Boise, but it is really Garden City right on the cusp of Eagle. Coming from Boise this is just west of Franze Witte nursery on the same side of the road. THIS N THAT: Yes, these are the same owners as Big Mike’s food truck. I understand Big Mike’s caters and that they also do some Italian food dishes in the catering.

Crossroads Bar and Grill Menu with Prices 1255 Barkley Blvd suite 102, Bellingham

I love Barbecue. Not the kind of barbecue that hides behind sauce. I’m talking about smoky, we don’t need no stinkin’ sauce kind of barbecue. Bellingham is pretty short on that kind of barbecue. So I was excited to try Crossroads. I stopped in and ordered the Combo Plate. You can choose between ribs, brisket or pulled pork for meat and you also get two sides. I think the only way to really tell if a place saying they have BBQ is real is to eat the brisket. I needs to be tender, fatty and smokey. If it comes slathered in sauce it isn’t brisket and they don’t know BBQ. So, of course, I ordered the brisket and for the other I went with ribs. For my two sides I got fries and coleslaw. The brisket was better than and I have had in Bellingham. It was tender with just the right amount of fat. It wasn’t fancied up with sauce. It was just salt, pepper and a long smoke. Perfection. The ribs were a bit tough, maybe another hour on the smoker could have done them some good. The flavor though. It was again better than any in Bellingham. I could discern a nice spice rub and there was just a touch of sauce. I didn’t think I liked sauce but this enhanced the ribs so much. It wasn’t overpowering, it was just right. The portions are good. There was enough food for at least two people. I didn’t share. I will be eating this again tomorrow for lunch. The service was nice. I did have a bit of problem with the order but everyone was more than ready to make it right. I would have given the place all the stars but the sides were a real blah. Frozen fries and standard coleslaw. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t great. I would suggest you try out the barbecue at Crossroads. It’s good.

Hot Spot Barbecue – BBQ – Menu with Prices – 901 E La Rua St, Pensacola

Hot Spot barbecue is the real deal. My friend brought me here insisting that I could get Texas quality barbecue in Pensacola Florida. Naturally, I was skeptical… But that was about to change. I ordered the brisket and ribs… no dice. All out. So I order the pulled pork and ribs… Strike two. “What is going on here?” And then it occurred to me… if they were sold out of everything, they must be doing something right. I ended up with two giant pieces of sausage and a plate full of rib scraps, ends, and other pieces. It was amazing! Dry rubbed with the right amount of crust. For pork ribs, they take a backseat to no one. The sausage is a beef and pork mix, with a slight hint of maple flavor. The amount they give you is ridiculous and well worth the money. I had three sides with my meal. Mac & cheese-it was great. Potato salad-also a tad on the Sweetside, but again I was not offended. It’s delicious. The true surprise though was the Brunswick stew. Tomato-based, almost chili consistency soup with various pieces of barbecue meats, peas, and corn. Finished off the meal with a piece of their famous icebox lemon pie which is phenomenal. The only thing wrong with this place is it closed on Sundays which means I can’t go back tomorrow. This is a family business, where you truly feel like they care about you being there.

Joe’s Kansas City Bar-B-Que – Menu with Prices – 3002 W 47th St, Kansas City

I want to start off by saying I have a deep appreciation for barbecue. I’ve been fortunate to have had some incredible barbecue around this country, and unfortunately I’ve had some terrible barbecue around this country. I always get excited when I’m heading to Kansas City, knowing I’m going to be enjoying some great barbecue. I knew my first stop for barbecue on this trip was going to be Joe’s. The first surprising thing about Joe’s is that it’s inside a gas station. But don’t let that deter you. You know you’re at the right place when you see the enormous line out the door, only to find out that the line wraps around once you get inside the door. After spending an hour in line, I finally got to the front. After changing my mind several times, I settled on a full rack of ribs and a side of onion rings. The onion rings were a last-minute decision because everyone around me seemed to have an order and they looked great. There are two things that I’m on the lookout for whenever I order barbecue. Is it covered in sauce and is it served with white bread? I can tell you that the barbecue here was not covered in sauce and it came with two slices of white bread. These ribs were cooked to perfection. There was just the right amount of rub and smoke. The meat hung on to the bones but came off easily enough. It didn’t just fall off the bones. This is important! If the meat just falls off the bone, they’ve been overcooked. They had a nice pink color with a dark outside, and most importantly the taste was incredible. By the way, the staff here is amazing as well. Anthony Bourdain wrote when he listed Joe’s as one of the 13 places to eat at before you die. “People may disagree on who has the best BBQ. Here, the brisket (particularly the burnt ends), pulled pork, and ribs are all of a quality that meet the high standards even of Kansas City natives. It’s the best BBQ in Kansas City, which makes it the best BBQ in the world. The barbecue here is criminally good.” I couldn’t agree more. The ribs here were truly sublime. I will be making another visit to Joe’s before I leave.

Ranch House – Menu with Prices – 2571 Cristo’s Rd, Santa Fe

Well, this is my second time here. The first time here we had a not-so-good experience and I wanted to wait to write a review. We had a reservations and sat down right away. We got drinks and food very quickly and our server was very attentive – a product, I think, of my husbands previous review. I got the small plate for lunch, which consists of either pulled pork or brisket, a side, and corn bread. I had mine with calabacitas, and while the presentation was sloppy, they tasted delicious. Buttery and salty, the vegetables tasted fresh. The green Chile cornbread was good. My son had beans and potato salad as his sides, and those both tasted great. My brisket, however, and my husbands and sons ribs, while they were perfectly cooked, still lacked in flavor. They serve everything with a side of their barbecue sauce, and the sauce is delicious. While the sauce really helps, truly good barbecue should stand on its own, not depend on the optional sauce for flavor. But trust me, the meat needs it. I had the creme brûlée for dessert, and THAT was amazing. I don’t know what they did to it, but it’s delicious. I would really like to want to come back, as the atmosphere here is absolutely beautiful and the patio looks like a great spot.

Kimo’s Hawaiian Grill – Menu with Prices – 1575 Fort Campbell Blvd A, Clarksville

In a big hunt to find Hawaiian barbecue in the area, and I came across this spot on Yelp. I am a huge Hawaiian barbecue critic, and I must say this place will be one of my regular lunch choices. – It is not a full service restaurant, but they do provide plenty of seating inside. – My overall review is a 4/5 simply because my chicken didn’t seem fresh as fresh as my short ribs. Short ribs definitely were up to standards. Flavor, fresh off the grill, and quality meat. – Sides were the perfect serving size for a “mini” as it was just for lunch. Rice was great, and the Mac wasn’t too overpowering. I would say the Mac needs more flavor, but it balances everything out so it’s not too much going on. – Such amazing service, I will be back!

Hank’s Smoked Briskets – Menu with Prices – 3736 N Doctor M.L.K. Jr St, Indianapolis

Not worth the wait! Arrived at 4:20pm in a Friday and didn’t get our food to take home until around 5:30pm. There were 3 orders in front of us and a steady flow after us. Two people working, Hank and a lady. After they gave the customers waiting their orders they then took ours and the couple behind us. While waiting and watching it seems they take 2-3 orders at a time and after filling those they take more orders. However, they don’t explain this or greet those waiting to place an order. After picking up your order you pay. Definitely not the friendliest either. They expect you to know your order when at the window. I was surprised that they actually seemed perturbed with our larger order. You would think a large order with sides, desserts and several pounds of meat would be appreciated. Interior is small waiting area with about 5-6 chairs to sit while waiting on your order. There’s a TV with the menu scrolling and that’s about it. Do have to say the aroma of the BBQ was wonderful while waiting! Brisket & ribs, cole slaw and baked beans were alright. We like our ribs to fall off the bone and these weren’t as tender as we usually like. Brisket was very fatty and needed a little more seasoning. Side of potato salad was probably the worst we’ve had in a long time. Potato salad was almost a greenish yellow color and had a curry or funny spice taste to it. People only tried a bite and tossed the rest. Baked beans were tasty especially if put some chopped brisket mixed in them. Caramel apple and peach cobblers were okay. Being raised in Texas and growing up with BBQ, our group was disappointed especially after such a long wait! Looks like we will be looking for another BBQ joint here in Indy.

Eat It All BBQ, LLC Menu with Prices 3342 Deans Bridge Rd #4222, Augusta

This place probably has its moments, but our visit wasn’t one of them. When we were there (around 1:30pm.,) there was only one person working – the owner. This made for extremely slow service. Mr Monroe had to do everything. He manned the pit, took the orders and served them up, and ran the cash register. I was going to have pulled pork, but he gave me a sample of his ribs and changed my mind. The ribs I had weren’t like his sample. (I don’t think it was intentional) They were dry and over cooked. My wife’s pulled pork sandwich was downright boring. On the other hand, the potato salad, baked beans, and barbecue sauce were excellent. Will I be back? Probably not. We were just passing through.

Salad And Go | Healthy Drive Thru – Menu with Prices – 5259 E Brown Rd, Mesa

Sad to write this post but I will never be returning to this establishment again. My boyfriend and I went through the drive-through on Wednesday evening at around 7:30, I ordered the antipasto salad and he ordered the BBQ ranch salad wrap with chicken. Thankfully, his wrap was fine. My salad, however, wasn’t. I found a long blonde hair twisted up in my salad! I know it wasn’t either of ours, my hair is bright red and my boyfriends is dark brown. I tried to look for a phone number to call them and ask for a refund, but the number listed on yelp doesn’t work and they don’t have any phone numbers listed on their website. So, I drive back, get out of the car and go up to the walk-up window. This girl, coincidentally with blonde hair, opens the window and I tell her that I would like a refund as I found hair in my salad. I also brought back the salad with said hair, for proof. She says ok, takes my salad and closes the window, comes back in a minute with cash for my salad refund. I proceeded to ask her for a refund on my whole order and tell her what my boyfriend had. As she’s ‘processing my refund’, she says ‘Just so you know in the future, I can’t open this window past 7’. There was a sign on the window that said the walk-up window closes at 7. So then I said, well maybe you guys should be more careful about not getting hair in your customers food, to which she replies ‘Oh, that wasn’t from me’. Then she shuts the window. Not once did she apologize for the mistake or do anything to rectify the situation. What absolutely horrid customer service. This is super disappointing as I spend a lot of money at Salad and Go, and this particular location as it is so close to home, convenient and I loved the fact that it was a healthier option. Well, never again will I be back. Beware.

Pat Gee’s Barbeque – Menu with Prices – 17547 County Rd 26, Tyler

I haven’t been to Pat Gee’s since I was a kid, but glad I was finally able to go back and relive some memories. We got brisket, ribs, and potato salad. The brisket was tasty, but wasn’t as tender as preferred and probably could’ve used a few more hrs f smoke. The ribs were dry, but the tasty sauce made up for it. Best potato salad I’ve ever had! There was some sweetness to it, which I really enjoyed.

Big Daddy’s BBQ – Menu with Prices – 1205 N Garth Ave, Columbia

My wife went on a family cruise in March. I stayed home and ate BBQ daily for a week! Have heard some buzz about Big Daddy’s BBQ, so I gave it a try. You ‘walk up’ to a window, order, pay, and get an order number. Order arrives at a 2nd window. There are picnic tables for on-site eating, or you take out. It gets busy around lunchtime, with alot of friendly visiting with other patrons in line. I ordered ribs with beans n fries. The ribs were St. Louis style and very VERY good. In fact, they were SO good I decided to go back later in the week for lunch … a briskit sandwich. The chopped briskit sandwich was very good, served sauced (and it IS a tasty sauce) with a considerable pile of briskit. And finally, a few days later, I just HAD to try Big Daddy’s rib tips. Ooo Wee! Only other time I’ve had rib tips was in Kansas City. Big Daddy’s were BETTER! Had ’em with a side of collard greens! Big Daddy’s is the ‘real deal’ for BBQ in Columbia, Mo.

The Smoke Shop BBQ – Menu with Prices – First St, Cambridge

Mixed feelIngs about this place. First, street parking was found easily by ME, but for my group, they couldn’t find parking so they had to park in a garage (but the restaurant validated parking! Not sure for how much though). For the food, the food was kind of in the dry end but they do have sauce for the table. I got the combo with three meats and three sides. I got the pulled pork, sweet wings, and ribs. Everything was subpar at best, and the wings were kind of burnt. The sides I got were the sweet and spicy cole slaw, corn bread, and sweet potato mash. I love cole slaw and let me tell you that wasn’t cole slaw. I expected like strings or cabbage but this was all chopped up. It didn’t have a nice refreshing bite to it. The sweet mash was good, but the corn bread was also kinda dry, even with the butter on top. On the barbecues they give a piece of watermelon, pickled onions and pickles. The should give the watermelon at the end sort of like dessert, because at the end of the meal it’s left out on the plate and gets warm, and then sometimes the sauces or smell latches onto the watermelon and gives it that barbecue taste which is disgusting. I wouldn’t come here again but it was nice to try it out. The service was fantastic and accommodates my table well.

County Road Provisions – Menu with Prices – 755 State Rd 207, St. Augustine

Just experienced the best barbecue since leaving Texas! I had ribs, pulled pork, sausage and brisket and this man knows how to barbecue. The ribs were my favorite, very meaty and seasoned with salt and pepper. Very little fat in the pulled pork and the brisket as amazing. If you havenâ??t tried this place you need to and donâ??t be thrown off by his trailer, this is very good!
