Bevel – a disc golf themed operation – promises hop forward beers in a casual tasting room in the 9th Street Village, which means you get easy access to the food trucks that inhabit the locale. – Medium-sized bar where you can watch disc golf on the TV. – Several tables scattered about. The bar area is fairly open, not at all crowded. And you can sit outside. – A very casual vibe, no loud music, not much in the way of distractions. If you’ve been to Bridge 99 off Empire, Bevel is kind of like that in terms of ambiance. Beer: – Prices are in line with the rest of Bend. $5.50/pint. – 1st Run: an easy-drinking IPA that isn’t super hoppy. – 2nd Run: an easy-drinking IPA with quite a bit more hoppiness. – Tree Love: a red ale that also drinks well (there’s a theme here) and has a bit of hoppiness. – Hop Tour Series Mosaic: my favorite of the IPA/IRA’s. Quite hoppy. – Black Ace Cascadian dark ale looks very nice and drinks like a black IPA. It’s a bit too high in ABV for me to have regularly (7.6%). – Larry-s Pale: I wasn’t expecting much from a pale but was pleasantly surprised. Almost every craft brewer these days provides IBU numbers for their beers (International Bittering Units), but not here. That’s something I think they should change – some folks have a lower tolerance to hops and some folks (me) just like knowing the numbers. Parking can be a challenge during busy times. You may have to find street parking and even that might be scarce. Recommended.

Hoppy Endings – Menu with Prices – 8320 Litchford Rd #106, Raleigh

There are a few deciding factors that define a true neighborhood bar, and Hoppy Endings is it! The clientele at Hoppy Endings reflects just that. It’s a hodgepodge of young and old, cool and casual, and all-around artsy. In other words, there’s some great people watching here. I am very impressed how Hoppy Endings carries every type of liquor imaginable, offering the biggest whisky, bourbon and scotch selections, plus wine, craft beers, and so much more. The cocktail program is strong as the mixologists work with imagination and precision. The bar’s casual vibe, and incredibly cool staff creates a sanctuary of an intimate setting. The outdoor section is also nice if you’re looking for a relaxed place: *to grab a few drinks with friends *enjoy the welcoming patio upfront *cozy up by the fire pit *challenge your friends to a game of corn hole The patio space out back is spacious with a nice ambiance. Hoppy Endings is a laid-back vibrant neighborhood bar with a sizeable middle space that fills up on weekend nights. Come early for intimate conversations as Hoppy Endings is a perfect place to meet new and interesting people. Take a moment and enjoy the decor, and talk with the bartenders or other patrons who came for the same experience. As the weather gets warmer, I can’t wait to enjoy the different food trucks that will be available by the bar establishment. Hoppy Endings is very pet friendly, and there is plenty of parking space!

Bent Barley Brewing Company Menu with Prices 6200 S Main St Suite 110, Aurora

I’m giving this review 2 stars because the staff was kind and the bar has pretty cool aesthetics. They were kind of busy at the time we went (Christmas eve) so I suggest you go and check it out yourself. My review is just my opinion. I don’t like nor will drink IPA’s. I don’t understand the folks who drink them as they are hoppy and bitter. This place sells mostly IPA’s. They did have a couple of beers that weren’t and we tried 2, got a taster of 1 and all were hoppy. The stout was not. Yes, that is a complete sentence. Best stout I’ve ever had was in South Park, CO. I travel and have been to many breweries. I will keep on looking for a place that has good beer.

The Thirsty Topher – Menu with Prices – 601 Virginia Dr, Orlando

Sweet little neighborhood pub. Lots of local brews to choose from. Bartender, big Rick, was very helpful. He gave great recommendations. Service was excellent. I wanted to beers, but only wanted to have one beer. He allowed me to have half of each beer. That was perfect. It’s a little warm inside, they’re not running their air-conditioning low or they don’t have any. It looks like there’s a cute little patio outside. There is a small parking lot behind, so you don’t have to park on the street. They have draft beers and bottled beers and canned beers. So there’s something for everyone. The inside decor is really neat. The bar is live edge wood, so beautiful. Casual place to drop by and have a beer or two with friends. I’ll be back to try something else from their dark beers selection. But I did enjoy the putting and the 10 fiddy.

Hole 19 Miniature Golf Bar Huntington Beach – Menu with Prices – 21010 Pacific Coast Hwy, Huntington Beach

I heard about this place through a Facebook video and I honestly can’t believe that no one’s written a Yelp review about it yet? Tickets: We purchased our tickets online for like $8 each and we chose a reservation time on their calendar. Atmosphere: It’s a whimsical mini golf course and bar in Huntington Beach. It has a beautiful ocean view and there are 9 holes to golf which are honestly minimally done, but fun none-the-less! The views are spectacular, it’s such a cute pop-up to visit. We were a bit underwhelmed when we entered, because we thought it would be bigger inside but we ended up having a great time. They have 2 beer pong tables, a huge Connect 4, and an arcade game inside. The only let-down of our experience was that families were taking up the tables and booths and they weren’t buying anything or playing on the mini-golf course. They were pretty much just occupying the tables or leaving their stuff on the booths so no one else could sit there. Drinks: May the Course be With You – 3.5/5 the drink was a smaller portion for being $13. It was tasty, but not very strong. British Bastard – 4.5/5 it was refreshing and I really enjoyed the little golf tee decoration. This one was perfect for a beach day drink and I would order it again. Restrooms: They do not have a restroom inside this establishment. If you need to use a restroom they have a public bathroom available in the mall itself. Overall: I am really happy that we visited Hole 19. The golf course attendant and bartender were nice and welcoming! The parking for this mall was kind of a mess… we ended up being 30 minutes late because the lots were full and the street parking was crowded due to the US Open of Surfing. If you end up finding a parking spot in the mall, it’s $3 per hour.

The Landings Club – Menu with Prices – 71 Green Island Rd, Savannah

Great quality and variety of golf, 6 courses in all. All are championship length (6700 yards is the shortest course) with options of 6 tees for all levels of play. Incredibly rich and rewarding social scene, very physically fit and active members, 32 Har Tru tennis courts…the amount of things to do and be involved in offers a fulfilling lifestyle unlike any other community of its type. By the numbers, the Landings Club has 7 Picklball Courts, 7 restaurants, 6 golf courses, 5 pools (2 indoor), 4 full service Clubhouses, 4 Bocce courts, 3 tennis complexes (with 32 courts total), 2 deep water marinas, 1 50,000 square foot fitness, wellness and life-extension center, 1 traffic light, 1 golf cart ride away, all for 1 membership!

Hi-Wire Brewing – Knoxville – Menu with Prices – 2020 Barber St, Knoxville

Due to my affinity for weekend getaways to Asheville, I was very excited to hear about another Asheville product coming to Knox Vegas. This place is a wonderfully raucous beer circus. As you will find the noise level inside does cause some double takes and the occasional mild shout. However they have tons of patio seating that lines the backside of the building. The beer menu can be seen a mile away and their offerings are a welcome sight in TN. The IPAs are stellar, and as I recall Hi Wire’s mission is their Lagers. Also sampled a sour brown and Brett IPA which round out the list. Not many dark beers but the bed of nails is one of their best IMO. Looking forward to seeing their dark beers emerge in the coming months. They do have a variety of Togo beers available also. My group enjoyed ping pong and the footy-billiards in this friendly setting. Also I spotted a pair of disc golf baskets outside which I will enjoy in the future. No TVs so you won’t watch the Saturday College game here but it’s a wide open rustic space to socialize. They plan to have food trucks and on this occasion it was a Pizza rendition. Always good to have food to be able to enjoy a place more when you’re not turning into DeVito on the snickers commercial.

Coffee Kiosk – Menu with Prices – 26833 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Santa Clarita

One of us got coffee, the other got ice tea and we both got bad stomach aches while drinking the drinks. When we stopped drinking the drinks, the stomach aches went away and when we started drinking again, the stomach aches returned. Within an hour, we were both on the toilet, feeling the pain. For both of us to feel stomach pains but be drinking different drinks, we think they must be using dirty/contaminated water (perhaps they’ve forgotten to clean their water filters?) as whatever water they use would be the only commonality between our two drinks. Very disappointing as the drinks tasted good but we had to throw them away due to the stomach pains. Will not be returning.

Rookery Grill – Menu with Prices – 3433 Club Center Blvd, Naples

I recently played a round at the Rookery and it was a great experience. I will say that the golf course is in pristine condition and I was very impressed. The practice area is also exceptional and the service was top notch. The starter was especially friendly. This course is a bit on the pricey side if that’s a factor for you. It was a lot of fun, not sure yet if I’d return or not.The entire course was beautiful. The fairways were lush and the greens rolled true. They had water stations with bottled water at various points throughout the course which was nice. All the grounds were very well taken care of. The sand was nice and fluffy as one would expect from a premium golf course. This is a TOUGH golf course. We were easily adding 3 clubs when into the wind and it still didn’t feel enough. I am normally an 11 handicap and felt proud to just break 90 here. I wouldn’t recommend this course if you’re new to the game. Those looking for a solid challenge would enjoy this course. The slope is a whopping 137 from the white tees so that should tell you something. Overall I really enjoyed my round of golf at the Rookery. Would I go back? Maybe, but probably not. For the price, it wasn’t the best value, but certainly a top notch golf experience. I’d recommend trying it for yourself if you’re a big time golfer. For the casual players, it might be a bit challenging and expensive for your taste. Thanks for a great time to the staff at the Rookery.

Alma Mader Brewing – Menu with Prices – 2635 Southwest Blvd, Kansas City

Alma Mader has quickly rose to being one of my top 3 favorite breweries in the city. They have consistently been putting out some of the best quality beers, especially their Pilsners and their IPA’s. Space: I’m not a fan of the taproom, it just feels bland and sterile to me with the white walls and decor. The parking situation can be lacking as well. Although they have off-street parking, it is set up in such a way that can be cumbersome for larger vehicles to navigate. Finally, the smell…. I’m sure the issue is they were storing their spent grain in the building so a few times I have been at the brewery there has been a distinct rotting grain aroma, which can be extremely pungent and disgusting. The last time I was at the taproom I didn’t smell the odor so I’m hoping that means they figured out a better way to deal with the spent grain. Beer: The beer here is hands down a cut above anything else being put out in the city. I would say they are more focused on the hoppier sides of things with a majority of their beers on tap being variations of pale ales, IPA’s and Double IPA’s, but they have some other options on the lighter side like Pilsners and Kolschs as well as some darker porters. They have done lots of collaboration beers with other breweries throughout the midwest so you get to try some beers brewed with breweries that may not distribute to this area. Food: I don’t think I’ve seen food or snacks for sale at the brewery, but you are able to bring in outside food which is always a good option. Overall: I know I was very critical on the actual space, but the beer is SOOOOOO good that I’m able to look past those issues and still give this brewery 5 stars. If you love good beer, DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS PLACE!

Barry’s Bar – Menu with Prices – 277 Amherst St, Buffalo

This has been a spot in Black Rock for sometime, but new ownership catches one’s attention, especially when you know them and they are such good folks. So, yeah, I’m not exactly impartial. Now known as The Phoenix at 269, this is one of those spots you can’t help but need in your dining sphere even if you didn’t know you needed it. Sometimes, you just need a well-cared for drink at the bar, perhaps a lovingly poured guinness, a well-cultivated burger, perhaps a chicken dish, a milanese perhaps and perhaps, space. This is a humble place, tastefully decorated, and a nice patio out back, off street parking and a staff committed to just doing it right. All the food I mentioned is just the tip of the iceburg, go forth, spend your hard earned dollars with folks who want to feed you well and who watch what they are serving unto you with care. Go, eat, drink and be merry

Hop Valley Brewing Co – Menu with Prices – 990 W 1st Ave, Eugene

My dad wanted to visit a brewery and try some beer samples while in Portland. Unfortunately we didn’t have the time, so we figured we’d find one that offers beer flights at a reasonable price. I browsed through the many breweries in Eugene, Oregon and came across Hop Valley. They seemed pretty legitimate (from the little I know about beer), and seeing how they make their own beers (in those giant machines?) this place was worth a shot. The brewery is actually relatively large with a ton of parking. We came during off hours on a weekday afternoon and there was a good amount of people. I like how they have an open window that allows you to see all the machinery. The workers were friendly and super helpful as they helped us get started and answered our absurd questions that my sister and I had. You can order flights in 6, 9, or 12 selections. They have a selection of beers on tap that they rotate out every so often. Since I am not a beer connoisseur by any means, their menu with a short blurb describing the beer really helped us out a lot. So we went with 9 beers to try. I believe the price was a dollar something for each one, making it a very affordable flight. Tried the vanilla infused porter, purple cole, bubble stash, mango stash, citrus mistress, hefe, hop valley blonde, reveal, and charmin’ swine. I have to admit that after trying every single sampler, I’ve come to the conclusion that I don’t like beer. And if I ever feel inclined to drink it, I’d prefer something that was sweeter and not so bitter. I think I enjoyed the lighter and fruitier beers. They all began to blend together and taste the same, but I think I really liked reveal and hefe. The beers were served in a cute leaf tray where there were numbers that corresponded to the numbers of the list that you wrote down for the beer. That way you can keep track of what you’ve tried. tl;dr – A good selection of beer and the flight is a great deal. Even though I don’t personally enjoy beer, I thought it was a nice way to end our Oregon trip.

Hilton Pasadena – Menu with Prices – 168 S Los Robles Ave, Pasadena

Great location and quite clean but the service wasn’t the best. The front desk people were blah and so were the valet folks. Our bath tub wasn’t draining well so we asked for someone to come fix it. It took them a while but he came and left. We thought it was fixed since he said it was but it wasn’t. We asked for some extra toiletries and it took them over 50 minutes to bring them – this was after calling them twice to remind them. We were also told that they could only bring three things because our stay was too short and we shouldn’t need more than that. Who manages these numbers? shrug* The front desk lady also told us about the breakfast buffet as if it was free. I was a bit confused and suspicious so I asked if there was a cost and then she mentioned that it was not a complimentary breakfast. We all felt a bit mislead. Anyhoo .. would I stay here again? Yes for the Priceline deal that I got but no for full price. We also found free street parking around the side of the building for handicap placarded cars so we did that and were able to skip the parking fees. Too bad the staff stunk. It would have been a lot better of an experience.
