The first few times I tried this place, I really didn’t like it, and neither did my coworkers. Everything I tried tasted under sauced. I like veggies, quinoa, and pretty much everything on their menu, but every sauce was so thin, it just felt like I was eating plain, dry rice, sweet potatoes, spinach, chick peas, etc. Not appetizing at all. But they were fast, close to my work, friendly, good for me, and reasonably priced, so I went back every six months or so. Eventually I discovered what I was missing. First off, I always get avocado- its extra in most cases (it already comes on several of the signature bowls), but what a difference! Stir that puppy up so the avocado mixes with the less flavorful things. Most importantly, I ask for salsa as my sauce…BUT HERES THE SECRET- ask for two to three times the normal amount. Heck, if they have more than one salsa, get a couple portions of each. I think you can ask for as much salsa as you want, no extra charge (or at least they never charged me). The salsa isn’t as thin as the other sauces, so it coats the food instead of running down to the bottom. If you like sriracha, get that too. I would give most of the signature dishes 2 or 3 stars, but if you mess with the recipe a bit, you can walk away with a 4 star meal!

Arepana Latin Grill – Menu with Prices – 1176 Capital Cir SE, Tallahassee

We started out with chips and salsa and yuca fries which were both very good! They have signature pre-made dishes or create your own which allows for customization. I got the chicken arepas with black beans, rice, plantains and cheese with cilantro sauce. My husband did the create your own bowl with brown rice, steak, black beans, pico de Gallo, plantains, and cheese with the avocado and cilantro sauce. They were both amazing and fairly large portions. The avocado sauce was a vinegar based semi guacamole which complemented the food well. It was a good amount of food for the money compared to a lot of places in Tallahassee. The atmosphere was really fun and plenty of places for small or large groups. There are also two large televisions if there is a game playing. We will definitely be back!

Tamaleria Rincon Sinaloense – Menu with Prices – 421 N Tustin St, Orange

Tamales were really good and I would of gave 5 stars except for the salsa! You get two (2) 2oz containers for free when you buy a dozen. But if you want more they are 2 for $1.00 and the salsa container is only 1/2 full as you can see by my picture so you are really only getting about 1oz of salsa in each container which is barely enough to lightly cover two tamales so if you have a crowd who likes some salsa for their tamales be prepared to pay a lot extra to have enough for your dozen I totally understand that salsa costs but offer a little bit bigger container for those that purchase in bulk and not nickel and dime them over a $20 purchase or bigger purchase With tax your dozen will cost you $19.40 and add $1.00 more for each set of two very small cups of salsa it will add up even if you do the check in offer The salsa was ok not the best I’ve had and I probably would not spend the extra $ to have them provide it for me. Instead I would buy it somewhere else for a bigger container that even with the gas spent would be cheaper I would come back again for the tamales as what I tasted were full with filling and tasted awesome Just keep in mind when you come that they charge extra for each little cup of salsa which was not even full that was very disappointing Update the salsa cups are only 1 oz each not 2 as I thought so your getting less than 2 oz for both cups for a $1.00 extra

Flamin’ Grills – Menu with Prices – 702 N Chaparral St, Corpus Christi

We have visited multiple times and have been satisfied and have even written positive reviews. I have to gripe this time though. I don’t mind spending 5 dollars for a taco but set the expectation for a customer if you don’t have what a customer normally wants in a taco. They were out of both avocado and salsa. Really? I guess it wouldn’t be so bad if it was one or the other, but both? If I call in an order you can at least have the courtesy (ahead of time) to say we are out of salsa tonight and avocado. I would have opted for something else. (You did say you were out of onion rings as well.) I guess my whole RANT is about the fact that they are not as prepared as they once were when they were young and new to the business. The want to keep the customer satisfied is gone in my opinion.

Las Palapas Mexican Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 3039 TPC Pkwy, San Antonio

First time eating at this Las Palapas location. The interior was nicely apportioned and there were numerous TVs playing football and the world series game. I loved the creative menu and my dining companion suggested I try the Chicken Tortilla Soup. Our excellent server, Anneliese, recommended the puffy tacos so I did. We also ordered some Avacado sauce with our chips and salsa. Service-Second to none. Our chips were hot, salsa spectacular, and avocado sauce special. My puffy taco plate was perfect. The shell had a really great deep-fried taste but was not greasy. The picadillo ground beef was seasoned just right. Portions were generous. I ordered a cup of chicken tortilla soup that has a large slice of avocado and a generous helping of chicken in it. The flavor was exactly what I wanted. Just the right amount of seasoning. My companion loved the chicken flautas she ordered. She is a regular of several other LP locations and thought this location was the best she has eaten at. We will both be back. Our server and her trainee, Marcus, did an awesome job keeping our beverages topped and chips fresh.

Tarahumara Mexican – Menu with Prices – 3212 Merriam Ln, Kansas City

I’m really surprised this place isn’t more popular. Sure, the guy up front isn’t the most cheerful person on the p, but I wouldn’t say he’s rude, just a little terse. Their salsa game is on point- both mild and hot sauces are excellent, and their chips are great as well. I usually get a torta, either Barbacoa or Pork. The tortas are great– good balance of textures– savory meat, fresh veg, creamy beans, cheese, and avocado, and each one comes with a slice of ham, which amps up the flavor. Probably the second best torta I’ve found in the KC metro, and definitely the best at its price. I’ve also gotten the Chile Rojo, which is also excellent, with tender chunks of pork and potatoes. My last visit, I got a torta, a plate of chili with sides of beans and rice, a good sized bag of chips, and 3 containers of hot salsa for $17.75. Heck of a deal, and more than enough for 2 very filling meals. No complaints here.

La Casita L C – Menu with Prices – 209 E Lincoln Ave, Orange

I’ve driven by La Casita so many times over the years and never gave it a thought…until one day I figured I’d give them a shot. I’ve seen the pics on Yelp from others who recommended this place, and al I can say is that pictures don’t do this place justice. Even the pictures I’ve taken makes the food look underwhelming, but holy heck the flavors are deliciously amazeballs! Since I came here during the brunching hour, I got the carnitas plate while the kids split a breakfast burrito and huevos rancheros. I am def a fan of their carnitas, tender and flavorful, not dry at all. By the end our dishes were wept clean, along with a couple complimentary bowls of chips and salsa. The salsa is nothing to write home about, though it is good enough and tableside there is a bottle of tapatio and Caribbean el yucateco if you need more spice. Eating inside a house is definitely cool, with random bits of flare and old time memorabilia to keep your eyes busy while you wait for the food. Will totally come back and try the other dishes available!

Cristina’s Subs & Suds – Menu with Prices – 9562 SE Maricamp Rd, Ocala

Heck yeah one of the best sub places I’ve ever been authentic Italian deli and food I have been there three times and every time they have the best food ample portions no huge portions basically two meals and delicious! They’re not open for dinner so get there for lunch and don’t be late their daily specials run out very friendly staff very helpful very courteous giving you a sample if you’re not sure I asked about their meatballs when my son was with me and she put two huge meatballs on the plate for us to try I thought that was so very nice of her they were fantastic we ordered the sandwiches but we’re almost half full after the samples!!

Cup Noodles Shop – Menu with Prices – 9783 Base Line Rd, Rancho Cucamonga

A secret gem here in Cucamonga! I find the only thing good in the entire shopping center home to Cup Noodle Shop is Cup noodle shop! And it’s not just good this place is great! I have been to CNS 4 times now and waited till after yesterday’s visit to write my review. There was about a 2-3 month gap between yesterdays visit and my previous visits. CNS is like one of the special places you’ll find in SGV or Irvine. The kind of place that gives you a glimpse into the lives of one heck of a chef. Whoever is behind the scenes creating the dishes at CNS is someone who takes the upmost care in whatever they are preparing. And you can taste the love! CNS has a menu consisting of a wide range of noodles. The noodles are medium size portions. One can easily enjoy on to themselves and take a little extra or you can do what I do and share a bowl and add some delicious sides. My favorites are the cold cucumbers and the steamed ribs!! *ribs are spicy FYI. My favorite bowl is the #6 Leeks with pork! I usually ask for it to be spicy. Each time that I have eaten here the food is always fresh and delicious! My only complaint that I have is sometimes service can be slow. Meaning you have to continually ask for whatever you need. The server took my water cup last time and it never returned. Haha it happens! Luckily my wife shares with me! All in all CNS is a solid place to go for some real deal Szechuan! The owners cook with love and you can taste it!

Arriba Villa Taqueria And Mexican Food – Menu with Prices – 3040 University Pkwy, Winston-Salem

Hidden gem in Winston-Salem. We frequented this place at least once a week, usually more often than that, when it opened during our last year of law school. The servers are the greatest and the food is awesome. Everything we ever ordered was delicious. My favorites are the fish tacos, fried and with flour tortillas, and the shrimp fajitas. They let you order the lunch portion of dishes even at dinner which is just the best bc the lunch portions are plenty. The Texas marg is the way to go bc the extra tequila balances the sweet mix. We were genuinely sad to say goodbye to our favorite waiter when we had one last dinner here before moving away, and we miss the food here! And if you like super spicy salsa, ask for the spicy salsa as well when they give you the regular chips and salsa. You only need a little but it’s delicious!

Natural Greens – Menu with Prices – 10300 Southside Blvd, Jacksonville

Hubby, kids, and I were in the mall today and got hungry. I was tired of the normal Asian mall food court food and decided to give this place a try. I ordered the gyro without tomatoes and onions with extra sauce. While waiting, I observed a few orders ahead of me… the portions here are very generous! I also noticed the cleanliness of the staff and watched them change gloves befoe preparing each meal. My food was very good and was enough for 2 meals. I will definitely be back to try more. I gave 4 stars because I didn’t receive the amount of good customer service I should have (being greeted, a smile, thank you… something.)

Verve Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 2101 Market St, San Francisco

This is a great option to kinda splurge when you need a break from those basic chain coffee shop drinks! It is on the pricier side, but it’s definitely cause they use higher quality ingredients and you can tell! I came in around lunch time and ordered an iced honey latte made with soy as well as their avocado toast with a poached egg. This was probably the best avocado toasts I’ve ever had! I like how the avocado spread was still pretty chunky (which is how I like it) and it was seasoned perfectly with the coarse ground black pepper on top that added a nice little kick. The pickled red onions on top also added a good crunch and acidity that complimented the creaminess of the avocado very well. Do yourself a favor too and add the poached egg – it’s an extra $2 but it’s well worth it! The drink I had was also pretty good; I don’t like my drinks too sweet and I was scared that the honey latte was going to be, but it had just the right amount of sweetness for me! I’ll definitely be back here some time!

Cinco Villa – Menu with Prices – 8511 McPherson Rd, Laredo

The people that work there are rude. We usually go there to buy salsa because it’s delicious, but the lady always gives snarky remarks asking why I’m buying salsa. First of all, why else would someone buy food from their restaurant, obviously to eat. So I pay almost $4, for just 4oz of salsa, snarky remarks, and no chips included because that would be an extra charge. Today was the last time I ever go, because when I went to make a purchase, she had the nerve to tell me, “I cant sell you salsa because we didn’t make any yesterday and we only have for today.” So what she is telling me is she has been giving me over priced salsa that has been sitting in their refrigerator for who knows how long, and refused to sell me fresh salsa she had. So no, I would not recommend this place, no matter the quality of their food.
