This little nugget tucked away in a corner of a food court really is the best thing!! My wife and I stumbled upon this place via Instagram because they were hosting a jazz night (which they do every Thursday and once a month on a Friday). So we popped on by for a romantic date night and we were not disappointed at all. The music was so pleasant and the food was just as good. My wife ordered the Ahi Tuna Salad (delicious!!) and I had the Pad Thai (so good!). We had such a great time that we actually came back the following week with friends for more live music!! We ate outside both times. Just beautiful!! This time around we ordered Pho and it was really the best we’ve had it a long time! A lot of noodles and plenty of meat (I got the rare steak, my wife got chicken). I also tried the Ahi Tuna roll and my wife got the traditional roll. Both times we visited we also had the Vietnamese coffee and it was so delicious and strong!! Just the way I like it. Definitely a great place! The vibe is super chill and the staff is extremely friendly, including the owner Dan, who willingly came over to introduce himself and have a nice conversation with us. We will definitely be back!

Gohan Bistro – Menu with Prices – 524 S Reilly Rd #102, Fayetteville

Went on a Friday night, cute setup and good music to vibe to. Small menu but the meals are packed with great flavors. We ordered the mango salsa hand roll, spicy tuna hand roll, energito poke bowl and the Gohan special combination spicy miso ramen. Warning the wasabi seems to be more powerful here than other restaurants in the area. We usually have to ask for extra wasabi when we eat sushi but not here, ended up holding our foreheads a few times. All meals were delicious but I would have preferred to have bite sized pieces of the spicy tuna in the energito bowl verses minced tuna. I lived the texture and but of the ramen…because nobody enjoys a limp noodle. The broth was also very good, not overwhelming where you get tired of it. Totally recommend it. But I’d definitely say it’s going to be a hard day when it boils down to having to decide between eating at Umami or Gohan Bistro!

Schooner’s Seafood House – Menu with Prices – 3560 N Ponce De Leon Blvd, St. Augustine

Well, I usually don’t give a 5 star rating, but this place desires it. First time visit for my wife and I. We just decided to go out of town and find someplace to eat. About a mile North and on the right, we noticed quite a bit of cars at 6:30 PM. Walked in, seated right away, ordered Steak and Scallops. First, I must say was the best Cole slaw I have ever eaten. At 64 years old I’ve had plenty.. Steak was as I ordered (Medium Rare)(Blackened) Scallops was not large but not small, plentiful about 8 of them. Menu stated 8 oz., steak But looked more like 10-12 oz. Salad was crispy and plentiful also. My wife had the Fish and chips, Great big portion. Couldn’t fit the desert, but sure will stop and even go out of our way to eat there again. Service was top notch, team work, food on time. Not an elegant place for a first date, but what a meal. Now we know why the parking lot was full of cars.. You must try it…

Samu Bar Sushi Hibachi – Menu with Prices – 27 Rahling Cir suite A-1, Little Rock

So let me just say its difficult giving them anything other than a one star because this is the second time we’ve ordered take out and literally being served third rate food. They send out spicy edamame with almost no spice on it, and sushi rolls that are so bland and tasteless that you have to wonder if they even care when you leave the restaurant if you are going to return. I have the most simplistic of answers for them. “I WILL NOT RETURN” I will take my business back to oceans and Kiyens. To have spent almost $70 on dinner and in no way feel satisfied currently is the worst feeling ever. My wife never complains but when she tells me she rated the sushi roll that we received as a 3 out of 5 that says alot because she chose this restaurant over kiyens. I wont be returning to Samu. Weve attempted to give them our business numerous times and today to have my sushi roll be cold and me need to microwave it to be able to eat it and for it to be obvious that we received horribly below standard quality food says enough for me.

Oishii Teriyaki Menu with Prices 424 W Bakerview Rd # 101, Bellingham

Well, we have passed this place many times and today was the day to have a taste. We got there right at 11 AM and were greeted with a warm welcome and a lovely, “Hey ya’ll!” Music to this Southern girl’s ears. Husband ordered a Sapporo beer and I got a Korean Hite beer. I love trying international beers every chance I get. We got two orders of the tuna sashimi to start while we looked over the Sushi offerings. We agrees on the Emperor Roll and the Sea Dragon Roll. The sashimi was fresh, pink and oh so tender–best sashimi I’ve had in quite awhile. Just about the time we popped the last piece in–here come the rolls. An absolutely beautiful presentation and just as tasty. One more beer ordered for me and we dug in. Fresh and tasty is all I can say. We’re not dessert people but I couldn’t help but order a Spider Roll, it’s always a favorite for me. It came out and was simple and fresh and perfectly cooked. This delightful place just celebrated their 26th year in business and I can understand why…GREAT service, TASTY sashimi, BEAUTIFUL sushi and just a wonderful place to relax & enjoy. Noodles will be my next try as they sounded quite delicious on the menu.

Willie?s Sushi Bar & Bistro Menu with Prices 5030 Champion Blvd #G8, Boca Raton

We’ve had two more meals over past couple weeks. Both were good meals in whole. The rainbow roll and lobster roll are my addictions here and were was fresh and delicious. The lobster bisque was on point again. My hubbys yellowtail dinner was over cooked and a bit rubbery but still a fresh piece of fish. Service is friendly and efficient. What an excellent meal we had! I was I. The mood for sushi and hubby wasn’t. Since this is an eclectic menu that has both a nice selection of sushi choices as well as other choices of seafood, pastas, steak and chicken. I had tuna as my appetizer, it was delicious. A large portion of thinly sliced raw tuna with a light Asian ponzu sauce. Hubby had the lobster bisque, he said it was good, maybe not quite as rich as others he’s had but he still enjoyed and finished the cup of soup. I had the rainbow roll which was delicious and I also had a roll off the menu of yellowtail and tuna that was simple and delicious. They were big and next time I’ll get just one as I was stuffed. Hubby had mahi-mahi perfectly cooked and very moist. The zucchini veggies were perfect side. I had a strawberry sake that was sweet and delicious. The meal was right under $100 and we left satisfied and looking forward to returning. Next time we’ll save room for dessert. Service was attentive and friendly. The music was a lovely soft jazz and not too loud which we appreciated. I can’t wait to return

Shogun Sushi & Hibachi Grill – Menu with Prices – 5515 S Broadway Ave, Tyler

We’re in Tyler for a few days and looked for a sushi restaurant. We’re all wearing shorts trying to survive the summer heat, and we almost avoided this place when I read upscale restaurant in the reviews. This place has a great ambiance. They have beautiful fish tanks, a clean restuarant and low music. The service was good. Our waiter explained about the steak when I asked if the chicken or steak was better. I have a picky toddler and he won’t eat cheap meat. He told us that there are only two restaurants that carry this meat in Tyler. Let me tell you, the kids meal is no joke. For 9.99 you get a full size plate of mixed veggies, white rice and steak. You also get a soup and salad. This was enough to feed me. I like that he brought out my kids food before our appetizer. I feel like all restaurants should do this. Just my personal opinion. My husband and I ordered the tuna tower and a roll he suggested that wasn’t on the menu. It was the Langostino roll. I believe he said it had crab and lobster. Hands down, best roll that’s not on the menu. Honestly, I wish this restaurant was in Miami. We would be here once a week. I loved that the chef delivered our appetizer. It was a beautiful presentation. I forgot to take a photo of my son’s food. We were too busy eating it. We’re eating dinner there again tomorrow night. Yes, it was that good.

Yuzu Asian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 12 McGovern Ave, Lancaster

I’ve been looking for good sushi since moving here over two years ago from New York, obviously there I could find sushi everywhere and most of it very good quality due to the fast turnover and freshness being near New York City. I finally tried this place last night and I’m sure glad I did. The only reason I hesitated trying it this long was it’s not really classified as a sushi restaurant, instead it’s an Asian cuisine restaurant and that kind of scared me off thinking it wouldn’t be very good. Well it was excellent, my wife and I tried a couple salads, a Kani salad which was a little bland, definitely needed some flavor but the seaweed salad was excellent. We also tried the fried aged tofu, that was not enjoyable at all, tofu was way too wet so it was very soggy once fried. I also asked if they had hamachi kama, Which is a tuna collar or the portion just behind the head, it was not on the menu but I was told they do sometimes have it and did last night, That was outstanding!!! We also did three rolls, the Friday roll, spicy tuna roll and spider roll, all three were presented very nicely and tasted amazing. Jessica, who I’m assuming is an owner, served us and she was extremely friendly and definitely knows how to run a restaurant. I will be back many many times I’m sure.

Pho Kingdom Anaheim(Noodle Soup) Menu with Prices 1150 N Harbor Blvd Ste 160, Anaheim

This was honestly one of the worst dining experiences of my life. I came for lunch on 11/28 with my two children. We are huge fans of pho and Vietnamese food and were very excited when this spot opened as it is very near my home. I ordered the Regular pho with 1-2 meats, my son ordered the pho broth with noodles, my other son ordered stir fry chicken. We also ordered spring rolls and egg rolls. The young man that took our order was nice but not very attentive. It was not very busy but he kept disappearing to the back. The vegetables used to add to the pho looked past their prime and the bean sprouts were not white and crunchy they were floppy and pale brown. Obviously very old. The pho broth was not clear and flavorful. It was cloudy and you could see the bits of beef floating in the stock. I wanted my 1-2 meats to be rare steak. Well I was charged an additional $3 for a tiny bowl of rare steak swimming in lukewarm bloody broth. The noodles were not vermicelli rice noodles rather they were all different sizes and thickness like someone threw leftover noodles in a pot together. There were hardly any on the pho. My sons stir fun plate looked delicious but the steamed rice came out rock hard and crispy again serving unsafe, old dried out food. The spring rolls were absolutely horrendous and had one tiny sliver of meat and shrimp and were overloaded with lettuce and no noodle. This had to be the worst pho place I have ever been to. It is too bad because I absolutely love pho and due to the horrible food quality I will never patronize this place again.

Ceviche DOZO – sushi & ceviche – – Menu with Prices – 5715 Hollywood Blvd #A, Hollywood

Had a great lunch over the weekend. I got a tuna avocado roll and the okonomiyaki. The tuna avocado roll is a classic roll that you can find at plenty of places, but it’s rare to find it done properly. Usually there’s either too much rice, or the roll is squeezed to hard turning the rice into mush, or the rice is under-cooked and hard. Here, the roll was right on. They clearly use a high quality rice, it’s properly cooked and it gives the roll a soft, airy feel. It’s also a good quantity of rice so you can still taste the ingredients inside the roll. I focus on the rice, because that really bothers me when it’s off, but here it was spot on, and the fish was super fresh (no fishy smell) and delicious, and the avocado was perfectly ripe – not too firm, or mushy brown. Now for the okonomiyaki, which is a dish I really love. I’ve had it in different cities in Japan as well as several places in the States, and this was as good or better than any of them. The top had a nice crust on it, the inside was moist, tasty with a good amount seafood. It was just delicious. Often when I get this dish, the sauce on top is a little sweet for my taste (it’s usually store bought), but here it a has great balance with of a touch of sweetness and tangy. I asked the owner about the sauce, and like everything else there, it was made in-house. While I was there, the owner was a one woman show – she took the orders, cooked, bussed, billed – everything, and she handled everything expediently and politely. When place got busy, she still checked on me regularly, gave be a bottle of water when my limeaid was empty (which was also delicious) before I even asked. The menu is interesting, with things you can’t find at other Japanese restaurants in the area, like the yakisoba, okonomiyaki, chicken katsu don, and since the owner does all the cooking, and she clearly takes pride in her work, you know you’ll be getting a food that was prepared with care, skill and with top notch ingredients. I look forward to trying other things on the menu next time I’m in town.

Koshi Sushi & Bistro – Menu with Prices – 201 W 21st St suite 9, Norfolk

This restaurant has lived up to the hype. I ordered the miso soup with extra scallions and it was the best I’ve ever had. Plenty of seaweed. I was then served the seaweed salad. They put a lot of effort in their presentation. Next to the seaweed there were white crunchy noodles with a lemon slice and two crab sticks. The seaweed had a generous portion of sesame seeds on top. I devoured it. My third item was the citrus garlic steamed edamame. It was appetizing and interesting. My tuna carpaccio was soon brought to the table. Six pieces of fresh peppered tuna in ponzu sauce and sliced green apples on top sprinkled with scallions. Very fresh. My entree was the Spicy Ninja Scallop roll. Spicy tuna with shrimp tempura with avocado on top with a slices of seared scallops. It was then topped with eel sauce. I didn’t know sushi could be this good? For a beverage I had beer. A dry Japanese beer that I took a picture of and a Kirin. I enjoyed the Kirin the most. I strongly suggest checking out this bistro! I asked when the fish comes in and they remarked three times a week. You can walk in and not smell anything.

Big Ed’s Artisan Bread Menu with Prices 601 NE 1st St, Bend

Stopped into the Hop & Brew in Sisters for coffee with my son who is hiking the PCT. After taking him back to the trailhead, I came back to try the grilled tuna sandwich, which is a favorite of mine. When the server brought the sandwich, I let out a little groan because it was on a big roll and I was afraid it would be too much bread. I took one bite and OMG, best grilled tuna I’ve ever had (and I’m kinda old) and the roll was the best roll I’ve ever bitten into. So, this review is as much about Big Ed’s Bakery in Bend as it is about Hop & Brew. The crust and texture of this toasted roll was incredible. On top of that, the tuna salad was delicious as well. People were friendly. Place is clean. I live in Portland but I doubt if I’d drive through Sisters without stopping in for another sandwich…even if I had to wait a while for my food. And, in Bend, I will definitely go to Big Ed’s.

Gamja Tang House – Menu with Prices – 9567 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove

First time, picked this place for my birthday dinner because I love gamjatang (sorry if I butchered that spelling)…but pork stew with potatoes is delicious. Came with the wife, sis in law and niece about 6pm. Parking is in the back and behind the building next to them. The older lady was working and yes, initially she was a little cold but she was much friendlier as the night went on. I ordered the individual gamjatang, the niece got the eel and the two ladies split the clam soup with noodles. The wife and sis in law loved the clam soup and it was a huge bowl. Plenty for four people to each have a bowl. The eel came on a bed of onions and was cooked well. It wasn’t fishy at all. The gamjatang was very good. I don’t care for sawtooth herb so I picked that all off and let the wife chow down because she loves it. Plenty of pork neck and it was cooked well. I would have liked one more piece of potato (they cut it in big chunks) but it was plenty for me. Just did a bigger pork to potato ratio on my bites…lol. I will be back soon…super good food and huge portions!
