UPDATE: Brian and Danielle just kicked us out of the park, for my review, with 3 hours notice. DO NOT STAY HERE!! THEFT, FEES, MANAGEMENT DOES NOT CARE! We are Bakersfield residents that recently sold our home and looked for a safe RV park to stay in. We chose this park because it is gated and the gate closes at 9pm. We applied for long term and were accepted immediately. Despite there being multiple open long term spots available, we were given 2 sites to choose from. Back-in sites are $750. Our RV would not fit in the two sites we were offered. We called to inquire about other, larger, full-time sites. We were told they were not available and we would have to park in a pull-thru. These sites cost $800 a month. As a side note, they tried to charge us $100 a month because both cars didn’t fit in our site. We had to re-arrange our site (the one they assigned us, btw, b/c the larger sites weren’t available) to fit our RV and two cars. So, we moved to a pull-through site. Within 2 days of staying here, a fellow camper knocked on our door and said they just had 4 bikes stolen. His bikes were chained to his RV. He said we should put our bikes in at night. Our bikes were chained to our RV as well. We didn’t put them away right away, which I regret. A day later, our chain was cut and my son’s bike was stolen. We reported it to the office via a voicemail. They didn’t call us back. We put the other bike in the back of our truck to take to our storage unit. That evening, at 3am, my husband’s alarm went off. I ran outside and my bike was gone and I didn’t see the thief. Mind you, we are near the back of the park and I’m not sure how they could have gotten away and out of site so quickly. The next morning, I apologized to our neighbor for our alarm. We got to talking about the theft. She told us they had been here for several months and that little things were stolen from their site, often. She had also made friends with other long term people that had various items stolen. I posted this to my social media as well…I immediately had 2 friends comment on my post. They had family members who were victims of theft, including bike theft, in the last 5 months! We were swimming at the pool yesterday and spoke to some other long-term residents. One gentleman has had his phone, ipad, stereo, cigarettes and a few other items stolen. He said he’s lost about $5000 to this RV Park. He caught a kid in his site, one evening, after the gates closed. He chased the kid and he jumped the fence. Each person we have spoken to says that they have reported this to the park. When we spoke with Danielle this morning, she told us the park isn’t aware of any theft. She told us to report it to the police. She offered no apology. She just said, we aren’t responsible. I’m not sure how they park can’t be aware of this when there appear to be many cases, just on what I’ve heard. There seems to be no interest in preventing thefts going forward, or working with the RV guests to resolve/make it right. Owners don’t live on-site and “have been contacted.” We have lost $1500 in the two weeks we have been here. We can’t find another long term RV park fast enough!! Don’t be lured by the “security gate!” There is a theft ring going on here and they are making a killing in this park.

TOURISM Santa Fe – Menu with Prices – 201 W Marcy St, Santa Fe

Last Fall we vacationed in Santa Fe. Great place: vacationed there many times in the last 60 years. We stayed at Otra Vez just at the same time that your mayor was touting what a safe place Santa Fe was at the time the sanctuary city issues began to heat up. The downtown is full of homeless, even sleeping in our hotel doorway. We rented bikes at a downtown shop. We could not purchase insurance against theft. We parked the bikes on a secured second story courtyard. The bike was stolen the second night, complete with footage on the Otra Vez site camera. The condo would not take any of the responsibility for the loss of the bicycle, though from the footage it is pretty clear that the thief must have had a key to the iron gate security as he came up that step. The bicycle said the price I had to pay was many hundreds of dollars and this was a “wholesale” price. I would never have rented the bike if I knew they valued it at over $1000 dollars. I am retired and did not have the money to cover this awful charge. I assure that my view of the “charm” of your city is sullied by the unsafe state of your downtown and the unwillingness of your business establishments to take any responsibility or risk for your unsafe city.

London Bicycle Café – Menu with Prices – 355 Clarence St, London

This is the perfect bike store for urban cyclists and bike commuters. There are other good shops in town for recreational cyclists, but this one is the best for utility cycling hands down no doubts about it. They sell a great selection of commuters, cargo bikes, foldable bikes, e-bikes, Dutch bikes, and fixies, as long as all the gear (and coffee) that you need to make a bicycle a useful means of transportation. No more driving to Toronto or paying for expensive shipment fees when you need cycling gear. This store has all you need. The owner (Ben) is very polite and knowledgeable. He has a great attitude and he will find the right bike for your needs, and you can tell he cares about fostering the cycling community. All the staff is very polite and energetic too. The place is full of good vibes. The coffee is delicious, and they have a great atmosphere to sit and read or work.

Recycled Cycles – Menu with Prices – 1007 NE Boat St, Seattle

Did I find my dream bike? Not yet. Do I fell better equipped to find said bike? Omg, yas. Am I glad I stopped in to Recycled Cycles? Hell yeah! I dropped by this shop yesterday (Sunday) afternoon on my quest for my next bike. Darrian (Darius?) came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I had some idea of what I wanted- a road or touring bike that can be built out for bike camping or commuting- and he showed me a few options based on what I wanted. He was clear that given the time of day, time of the week, and time of the year, they were a bit limited on both new and used options that were in stock. This was especially true for the frame size that I needed (46cm). But this didn’t stop him from showing me a few bikes, helping me try some out, and spending time looking up other models online that came in my size. He let me know that the shop can also offer trade in credit for my current hybrid. He was clear about the trade conditions- Store credit for currently stocked items or items made by brands they carry and he declined to provide a ballpark estimate of my current bike, which was still at home, without looking at all the components of it. I appreciated that he didn’t want to give me an inaccurate estimate. He gave me the names of a few bikes that could work for me based on our online search, let me know that they would build them in-store, and encouraged me to continue to check back mid-week for used bikes. Thanks Darrian (Darius?)!! PRO-TIPS: -try shopping for used bikes mid-week -know that Sunday’s in summer might leave you with smaller stock (alliteration! Awesome.) -as with other used gear places, check back for the specific things you are looking for often. They might not have it today but the right piece might be in later that same week. -enjoy the community. Solid people who really love bikes.

Bicycle Face – Menu with Prices – 331 E Short St, Lexington

I rented a bike from Bicycle Face in Lexington for the Horsey Hundred and it could not have gone better! The bike they had reserved for me was one of their floor models, so it was current and a high-performance bike. I loved it! You should know I am not a high-performance athlete, but a woman of retirement age who was simply biking this event for fun with friends. They treated me with respect and were enormously helpful in many little ways. First, they had this cool electronic program to measure my hip, knee and ankle points so they could set the seat height based on my body mechanics. They set it and it was perfect! Then they wrote out directions on how to get to the Legacy Trail from their shop so I could get familiar with the bike before I left their shop. This took extra time on their part and was very much appreciated. Next, they figured out we could put the bike in my rental car without having to use a bike rack! By folding down the back seat, it fit into my Toyota Camry car rental. This was huge as I had an appointment right after I picked up the bike and I’m not sure the place I was meeting a client for dinner would have appreciated me walking in with a bike! Finally, I wanted to bring the bike back during a time their store was closed and they figured out an option for that, too. During the ride, I happened to talk with several people who admired my bike. I told them it was a rental from the good folks at Bicycle Face. They were so impressed as the bikes they had rented were old and heavy. They said next time they would rent from Bicycle Face and I told them that would be a smart idea.

Velobahn Coffee and Cycle – Menu with Prices – 3618 W Pierce St, Milwaukee

Going to stick with the theme of 5 star reviews. Why? It is well deserved. Awesome customer service, coffee from Anodyne (at least that’s what I saw on the counter) and bakery from Troubador and Holey Moley. I wanted ALL the bakery. And bikes are cool, too. This is the first time I’ve seen a disk brake equipped e-bakfiets (because saying e-bike bakery bike is redundant). Seriously, go here. Quit fighting traffic on Miller Park Way. Get coffee from nice people. The only thing that could possibly make the experience better is free stickers. But then Yelp would have to give us the ability to give 6 star ratings.

Smart Bike Parts – Menu with Prices – 3031 W Armitage Ave, Chicago

I love this place I have had most of all my fixed gear bikes fixed here if my bikes needed something repaired. They have One of the best sales on innertubes. If they don’t have it the possibility of them ordering it for you is possible. I get all my stuff here now and have been coming here for 4+ years. I’ve Had the opportunity of having a Cinelli Mash Work built by them accouple years back and they did a great job too with all the other customers builds ahead. This place accepts all types of bikes which is awesome too see when they come in. Service here is where they shine! The owner really looks out for you here especially if your always buying stuff from them! At that they will shoot you a txt when your parts have come in and or your repairs are done to your bike/wheels. Any questions they are always happy to help answer it. I just got back into riding after being off a sadlle for about 3 years and it feels great to be able to shop here again. Big thank you to the fellow who helped me with picking up a pair of lights as those are recommended if your going to be riding at night in the city. He recommended the Sunlight Combo and for $30 they are pretty decent!

Venture North Bikes & Coffee – Menu with Prices – 1830 Glenwood Ave, Minneapolis

For the past couple of months I’ve been scouring around online and in store for a used bike. I wanted to spend no more than $100 and my main purpose for getting a bike would be for short rides to the grocery store or lakes. A basket was necessary too so a cruiser is what I had in mind. Unfortunately I wasn’t really able to find anything close to what I wanted in style or price. My friend told me about Venture North and how they employ local youth to teach them mechanical and business skills. This is what really made me what to find a bike here. I gave them a call in early March asking if they had bikes in the $100 price range. At the time they said they did but their inventory fluctuates often. I didn’t get around to making a visit to the actual shop until late April on our first warm weekend. I was tired to looking for a bike so I just wanted to commit and grab one in time to enjoy the nice weather. I took my boyfriend with me here after work on Friday and since they’re also a coffee shop, we couldn’t resist! I think Jenn was our barista, she was really friendly! My boyfriend ordered a cold brew and I got an iced latte. I think the coffee was okay – it wasn’t the main reason why we were there! Most of the bikes were in a fair condition and were all at least $200. None of them really caught my eye except for this one little cruiser that looked brand spankin’ new. Maybe a spec of paint missing in a couple spots but nothing noticeable. The bike was $289 which was quite a bit over my budget so we decided to leave. But we just sat in the car for 20 minutes because I felt like I would regret not getting the bike! We looked up the brand online which was Reid Australia. Online the bike also retailed for $289 so I do think the bike was brand new. We went back in and I took it for a little test ride. To test ride a bike, you do need to have a government photo ID for them to hang onto. They also let me test it out on the street outside. After falling deeper in love I decided to commit! I believe Simon was the one helping us out and I asked him what I should name her and he said Minty Kaling because the cruiser is a mint green. This answer honestly added a lot to my steller experience haha I loved that everyone here was so down to earth! Simon then went to tune her up and you get 20% off accessories with a bike purchase so while we waited the 15 minutes we grabbed some helmets also. They also had a matching basket for $25 that of course had to be added on. Simon also taught me how to take the basket on and off. From arriving to leaving, the whole experience was painless and actually really fun! The whole thing minus my 20 minute car contemplation was only about an hour long. If I’m ever in need of a bike again, which hopefully I won’t be because I love Minty Kaling, I’ll definitely be coming back here! You can also get tune ups and repairs done here as well. And of course you can get bike accessories and coffee! Wayyy too long didn’t read: buy a bike here ?

Cycle Pub Bend Menu with Prices 550 SW Industrial Way #105, Bend

I booked a tour yesterday for 6 of us. When we arrived there were no bikes available for our tour. They scrambled and we ended up taking the tour in the tuktuk. Zack was a wonderful guide. It was a disappointment, that we weren’t able to have the tour on the big bike. When we did a similar tour in Portland, we had 5 guests. The company we used were able to provide the tour with the big bike. They filled the bike with other guests totaling 10 people. We didn’t have to be a group of 8. I don’t understand why your company can’t provide this service. Your website, doesn’t give alerts when you register as a group less than 8. You don’t provide refunds when you’re not able to do the tour we thought we signed up for. I understand that you require a group of 8, but took our money and could’ve fulfill the reservation requested. And then couldn’t give us a bike for 6. Your website needs help. We are very disappointed. Your front desk person, told me that I had received a call confirming our reservation but again I never received a call, voicemail or email letting know that you weren’t able to provide the services paid for. On the return of our tour, he told me I actually didn’t get a call. A lot of miscommunication. Unfortunately, we won’t be using your company again. Needs help with website and front desk. My sister law in, celebrating her 80th, took a glass. She didn’t realize it was $10. She wouldn’t have taken it if she would have known. I believe after all the mixup we should at the very least be credited the $10. Rebecca Karver Sent from my iPhone

Lost Signal Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 610 W College St, Springfield

Traveling home to OKC from STL, we decided to take a break from driving and ventured into Springfield to eat and drink local. Given it was Mother’s Day, we thought placed might be busy. When we arrived at Lost Signal, we found good parking and though the place was full, we were the first on the wait list. This is where they almost lost us, however. Our name was never taken and the hostess simply told us to have a seat and that it would just be a minute. While waiting, another group of 5 also came in. We watched a table finish and leave, thus I knew it would be our table. BUT – the same hostess who told us to have a seat had forgotten about us. A group of 2 came in and she immediately gave them the newly opened table. When I approached the hostess about this she hardly apologized and when I mentioned it was just rude, she got even shorter. Thankfully, the woman behind the bar heard our conversation. She came over to ask me what happened and being the manager on duty, offered me a complimentary beer. It was another 10 minutes before our table opened. Thus, our experience started with a very bad taste in our mouth.Fortunately, the BBQ tacos covered that bad taste and made our mouths water rather than sulk. Do yourself a favor and get one of each of the 3 meats offered. The pulled pork by itself was okay and the fries pair better with the queso than the chips. Lost Signal almost lost us and in reading other reviews, have almost lost others as well due to the hostess and service. With a few tweaks in service, this could be a 5 star establishment, as their food and beer is actually pretty darn good!

Essential Thai Cuisine Menu with Prices 2415 W Lincoln Ave H, Anaheim

I hate to give them a bad review since this is my favorite thai restaurant. I have been going here for more than 10 years now. As I said, it was my favorite thai restaurant until just about an hour ago. I came in here earlier today because I was craving for their yummy wonton soup & fried rice. The food came out appetizing as usual… but then I noticed an insect leg floating on my soup. I immediately spit the soup out. It looked like a cockroach leg. It was so disgusting. I brought it to server’s attention and in fairness to her she was very apologetic about it. She offered me a new one but I had to say no because I already lost my appetite. She took my food away & told me to wait so I can talk to their manager. I was just going to let it go but this random girl from the kitchen came out and asked me “what happened to your food?” So I told her that there was a cockroach leg on my soup. She just ignored what I said and then asked me if I still want to eat my fried rice. She had no remorse or anything. I had to tell her that I will have to come back to talk to the owner. She answered me back saying “Well, he is not here so…” I was extremely surprised on her response. I didnt want to make a scene so I just walked out.

Pathfinder Cafe – Menu with Prices – 3026 S Grand Blvd, Spokane

I’m generally not big on the idea of “themed restaurants” but I’ll make an exception for this bike-shop cafe. I love that the coffee bar isn’t separate from the Wheelsport store itself. It integrates seamlessly into a showroom for their bikes and gear. (Which is actually very clever product placement; everything reinforces the lifestyle.) And I don’t even bike… I mean, I have a bike, but anyway… The menu is refreshing- and by that I mean fresh: Fresh bread, fresh pastries, fresh avocados (which are hard to find around here), freshly made smoothies and simple brunch items like avocado toast which I ordered with a hard boiled egg on top. It was served on a full slice of the most wonderfully crusty sourdough bread I’ve ever had with veganaise, red pepper and fleur de sel. I also ordered a turmeric latte (which I’ve never had) and once I got over the idea of drinking curry, it was a delicious compliment to my meal. Biggest surprise of the day: my 10 month old likes tumeric! Bonus* they were baby friendly when my son spilled his entire bag of snacks on the ground ?

Queen Deli & Happy Scooter – Menu with Prices – 311 3rd Ave S, Myrtle Beach

STAY AWAY. Husband and I stumbled across this rental while walking before 6pm. Had called to check many prices of other places and they were more expensive. So we decided $89.99 for each scooter for 24 hours was not bad and decided to go for it. Guy was a bit standoffish not overly friendly or helpful. But once we quickly said we’ll take them he warmed up slightly. Didn’t offer as much instruction as I would have liked (had to ask how to use blinker etc) but did let me ride it down the street while my husband was paying to make sure I was comfortable (first timers) While we were discussing, another couple came in and clearly they wanted to rent also. The man mentioned to the worker(owner whoever) hey did you know you were going to rent her (his companion) a golf cart and you can’t take it anywhere. This was Memorial Day weekend and there were many restrictions on what you could take where and when. It seemed that he was going to rent regardless to make $. He then processed to tell them he was closing at 6. When he had told us he was closing at 7. Red flag. Dishonest. Money hungry. Etc. Anyway we rented scooters all was good and we were having the most fun we’d had yet in myrtle beach (bike week ocean blvd, sun and fun). Then dusk hit and another moped rolled up next to us and told us my husbands bike had no tail light. The next light we hit a cop cut me off and pulled him over before we could even make a plan on what to do. Cop knows rental guy. Tried calling, no answer. Long story short, his moped got impounded and we both had to squeeze onto one. We are not little people and this is not what we had planned. Major buzzkill. Next day, husband returns other bike and attempts to get some sort of refund since we only had the bike for 3 of the 24 hours and were unable to reach to get a new bike the night before. And we’re leaving that morning. Guy then tries to accuse my husband of damage on the bike (which we pointed out before we left the shop) and complains he had to pay $120 to get the bike out of impound ( not our fault since he let us take the road with a bike that was not road ready. $16. That’s the amount of refund this jerk offered. Completely unacceptable business practices and customer service. You’ve been warned.
