If you are into the art of music and want to see some the most talented Guitarist around then you need to come out to the Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame. This absolutely beautiful venue was built by the Vision’s of Kyle Cater the builder/ mayor candidate and Rick Kreiser the Guitar Masters promoter. Rick goes to an extensive search to bring in some of the most talented pickers you’ll ever see and last night Smoking Joe Robinson the 2008 winner of Australia’s Got Talent was an awesome example. I wold say it will hold about 200 I think not much more and has nice comfortable seats and if your lucky you’ll land a VIP seat which is cup in the balcony. The tickets are only $35 for general admission and $50 for the VIP. They have a small beer and wine bar up stairs and more drinks and small bites in the lobby. Kyle can be seen helping out behind the snack bar severing up some small bites. It is a general admission type of place so make sure you get there early to find a better seat. Next month entertainment is going to be epic!!!!! Awesome Job Rick!!!

Rock Star University – House of Rock – Menu with Prices – 3410 Industrial Dr, Santa Rosa

My boyfriend and I went here recently to see the Blu Oyster Cult. The band as always was awesome! We enjoyed that. This concert venue is a pretty awesome layout too. In the front area of this place there are framed rock music memorabilia with autographed guitars from various bands including the Beach Boys, Guns and Roses, Grateful Dead and much more. This venue also promote promising local rock groups like Vsquared who were the opening act for that day we came. I thought this was a cool venue and it was reminiscent of the Rock Bar, which was a popular venue in San Jose that was only opened for two years until the owners moved it to Las Vegas apparently, So yes, it is definitely a cool spot and there are not too many rock spots like this in the Bay Area or even in the rest of California for that matter. Anyhow, there was one thing that I did not like about the Rock Star University and that was that all the seats available appeared to be reserved seating and if you had general admission, you would not have anywhere to seat unless there is possibly one seat that has not been reserved in advance or at least the guest who did reserve it did not show up. Being that I have a difficult time standing for a long period of time, I was just lucky that my boyfriend and I found two seats that were apparently not reserved. Now, to be clear, I won two general tickets to this venue of which I am grateful. However, my boyfriend and I came a long way to get there and so we did not want to stand. I later heard that both our tickets cost $65 a piece! Wow! And for that much you still do not get seats?!? The day before, the Blu Oyster Cult performed at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and the whole concert was free there. Yes there is limited seating, but they do have an area for mobility disabled people and their guests. Guests can also bring their own fold up chairs. And in spite the fact that the Boardwalk gets extremely crowded especially during these free concerts, the open space and fresh air is also an advantage being that you are on the beach. Here at the Rock University, it seemed stuffy as there were no windows or air circulating in the actual concert area. There were two exit doors but I had to wonder how easy would it be for guests to leave in case of an emergency like a sudden fire. I have read quite a few news articles of concert venues catching on fire and people trying to escape but get trampled on and killed by smoke inhalation. I am not paranoid, just considering the “what ifs.” Pros: -cool popular rock concert venue and one of the few in North CA -lots of familiar rock bands perform at this place regularly -reminiscent of the Rock Bar that was the spot in San Jose until it moved -good amount of security and staff -supports local new bands that have the classic rock sound Cons: -all seating appears to be reserved only (general admission does not include seating) -difficult to find as it is located in an industrial area -where can mobility disabled people sit if they have general admission? -lack of air circulation in the concert area -gets very crowded and I wonder how easy would it be for a guest to leave in case of a fire or some other form of an emergency -is general admission $65 and includes standing room only?!?

The Velvet Note Menu with Prices 4075 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta

Velvet Note is one of those hidden gems that you come across every blue moon. Their specialty is music. Live music. Great music. Intimate live great music. Music that is often forgotten or just hard to find. Music that you typically associate with downtown venues. I’ve been telling myself to go there for years but it never came to mind. That all changed in June when my wife and I decided to finally attend. Sorry we waited so long. Velvet Note is a treasure chest of what I think are incredibly talented musicians and vocalist. I love jazz and blues and this night was some of the best Iâ??ve heard. Keyboard, bass, clarinet and a drum. Thatâ??s all we needed. It was sensational. The keyboard and star of the show was Frank McComb from Cleveland I think. He was total entertainment. VN is a small intimate place that holds maybe 40 -60 people. So you are going to be close. You call or go online to get tickets. There are no physical tickets, just your name on a list. There are usually two shows, one early one at around 9. Food and drink are available. I donâ??t know if either was memorable but competing with the talent on the stage is super tough to do. I remember it being good. Service is excellent. Super nice and friendly people. They appear to be open on Thursday through Sunday and even to a Sunday brunch. We will be going back. This place is awesome.

The Cultured Cup – Menu with Prices – 13731 Omega Rd, Farmers Branch

Visit once and everyone will know your name. Seriously, what a warm, welcoming, inclusive place Kyle and Phil run. You’ll be so busy trying new delicious teas and coffees you won’t realize you’ve met five new people and acquired five new pieces of information about drinks, their terroir, etc. Ask Kyle to pair your next party food with just the right teas. Ask Phil to pick the right coffee for your special guests. They will both hit the mark. Don’t forget to pick up the best tea brewer anywhere. It’s your lucky day if the decadent Texas Tortugas and caramels are in stock! There is a reason they’ve been chosen best tea shop in the United States. Every trip to Dallas needs some Cultured Cup time.

Forte Jazz Lounge – Menu with Prices – 477 King St #475, Charleston

I looked online for live jazz in Charleston and came across this gem! I knew it was recently opened but didn’t know their soft opening was only 3 days old! They currently only serve craft beer and a few wines and hopefully this will expand as they flourish. The concessions were limited to chips and water from what I could see. The chips could get loud for those who don’t know how to chew properly â?. The decor is nice in blues on the walls and even the floor. They have a small art gallery as you go into the room where the live music is. Inside the live music room is where that beautiful mural is that is posted online. It’s even more amazing in person as you get to see the shimmer and bling the student artists of Charleston School of the Arts included in the design. The seating has various levels in price. The couches, which are closest to the stage are the more expensive, then the next level of seating is the tables, followed by general admission seating, which includes tables lined along the wall behind each other. If you plan to purchase the general admission seats and you’re with your partner or date, just know you won’t be sitting next to each other but behind each other. Saturday we arrived about 7:40 to hear Rochelle Whitley Green. She was good as well as the band (piano, Richard Wright, Jr, bass, Roman Picar, & drums, Mary, forgot her last name) who was with her. I think at times the bass player seemed to struggle to keep up as he read the music but otherwise the show was good. They performed many standards and she even danced during the show. There is room to dance up front near the stage and behind the seating area. She will be performing again the end of the month. The owner’s big band will be performing for the grand opening weekend September 5th. I look forward to supporting them each time I’m in Charleston and hope they do well.

VFW Post 8483 – Menu with Prices – 5737 County Hwy C V #6169, Madison

This was your typical local VFW with a lot of locals so we were definitely newbies. Especially since we didn’t know the ordering system. It’s seat yourself, but first place your order with the cashier over by the kitchen. They’ll give you tickets for your order, then take a seat. A waitress will be around to grab the tickets and bring some of the sides. Be aware that they quit serving food a bit earlier, by 8 I think. We all really enjoyed the fish and it was ready pretty quick. The breading was nice, light and crispy. The cod and walleye were both great – the walleye was a nice big long filet and more than enough for me, though just right for those with bigger appetites. The sides were good accompaniments; aside from the usual suspects, they include baked beans. Proximity is a benefit, but the fish is worth coming back for even if it were on the other end of Madison. Our first time, but won’t be our last.

Quick Corner Liqour – Menu with Prices – 5026 W Thomas Rd, Phoenix

The guys who work at this store are so awesome! Theyre people-persons, always friendly, smiling and joking with their customers. THE BEST liquor/corner store around! If you havent been there you need to just once and youll keep goin back.

American Music Theatre – Menu with Prices – 2425 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster

We’ve seen 3 shows here, and have been pleased each time. Last night, we saw Ovation, a music revival show, featuring music through the ages. My wife and I both felt the same. Every person on that stage was talented beyond description. It was a great evening. Very professional. Very entertaining. And the theatre itself is top notch. Very comfortable seats. Clean. Large bathrooms. Even good concessions (that you can take inside!!!). But, perhaps my favorite point: the parking. There are several parking lots scattered around the theatre. Parking attendants direct cars in different directions. So there is enough separation between cars to allow you time to back into a spot, if you want, without the car behind you being right up your tail!

Charles Bach Wonders Magic Show – Myrtle Beach, SC – Menu with Prices – 1195 Celebrity Cir, Myrtle Beach

We went to the magic show tonight 8/24/2019 , it was very easy to get tickets! I walked in while at the broadway and bought two front row tickets. Our seats were 104A and 105A I loved sitting in the front row but we were all the way on the end so at times it was hard to see what was going on. They do have two monitors you can look at. But thatâ??s why we wanted front row , that way we could be up close and not have to look at the monitors. So I recommend the front row but you want to sit right in the middle. Thatâ??s my only complaint. The show was awesome , great music, it was funny, the dancing was beautiful and fun to watch the magic still has me trying to figure out how he did it!! He included the audience the whole show !!! He included little children as well as adults!! The two woman that danced with him and helped him with his magic were just stunning!! The costumes where awesome!! We will be back to see this again!!! My husband and I had a date night and we wanted todo this and now we canâ??t wait to bring our kids to see this show!! We will be coming back next weekend!!

Budweiser Gardens – Menu with Prices – 99 Dundas St, London

I was supposed to attend a concert here in August but can no longer attend the date due to an unavoidable conflict. I paid $300 for the tickets and am trying to refund them over a MONTH in advance and they WILL NOT LET ME!! “All tickets are final sale-you should not have bought the tickets if you could not commit to the date” Excuse me, are you serious? Who makes tickets final sale? Life happens. Plans change. How can it even be LEGAL to make tickets final sale? Just because I can commit to a date on one day does not mean that I can commit to it forever. It is a very inappropriate and unprofessional policy to have. I will not return nor buy any tickets from this venue again. Very disappointing.

T C Dance Club International Menu with Prices 3335 Government St, Baton Rouge

Even with two left feet and complete white boy rhythm, Rick and the staff have been able to get my wife and I to enjoy dancing. The party affords us the opportunity to watch those who are more experienced and learn from them, as well as having time to make new friends. I would say we have gone from blundering idiots to well seasoned beginners. If we would practice more, we could be amazing… That’s all on us. Rick, Dan, Kelsey and Scout are great!!! We miss seeing Alex every week, but he still comes around from time to time.

The Zoo Amphitheatre – Menu with Prices – 2101 NE 50th St, Oklahoma City

Lived here my whole life and never been to this venue before last week. Such a cool location. There are some idiosyncrasies you should know about though. First, requirements for what you bring in are strict until they’re not. Definitely no ice chests, outside food or drink, pets, purses bigger than a clutch, or umbrellas (rain or shine). On some of their printed materials it says no blankets allowed. This rule was done away with in late 2017, so come with a plastic-lined one. On their prints and online it still says in all caps NO CHAIRS, but when I attended last week there were chairs everywhere. This is annoying because they have a bit of an ant problem. My girlfriend is allergic and came home with big welts. I was just itchy. Bug repellent may have helped, but we couldn’t really tell. Deet is for mosquitos. It wasn’t terrible, but we both got 4-5 bites before we stood up. Wish I’d known about the chair policy changing. It seems like it’s either a word of mouth thing or it depends on the show? The inconsistency is annoying. Anyway, those are the pitfalls. It is, however, still a great spot. They have cheap beer everywhere and a full bar in a few places. $8 for a regular drink and $16 for a double, which is pricey, but pretty standard for music venues. Bathrooms are what you might expect. Kinda gross, but bearable. Expect long lines (15 minute wait) between sets. Volume is high, but not immediately painful. I’d bring volume-reducing earplugs to be safe, but I’m an old man inside. Sounds great though. Seems like the General Admission area is a fun place. Depending on the music you go to hear people will dance in the aisles, which is a blast to do and watch. This is a great spot. Just be careful about what you bring in.

CapRock Winery – Menu with Prices – 408 E Woodrow Rd, Lubbock

The Caprock Winery listening room is an awesome place to see bands and enjoy great wine at a fair price in a beautiful, new spot! Totally different experience compared to other Lubbock venues. We tried out the listening room a few days ago to see David Ramirez play. Tickets were $30 and the event lasted 8-11:30. It was a great environment for live music, as the room has phenomenal acoustics. Chairs are set at round tables dispersed across the room so you can converse before the show or in between sets. The beverages for sale were at a good price for being at a winery, in my opinion! My husband and I split a Cabernet Sauvignon for $15 and it was awesome! It’s fun to purchase your wine and bring it back to your table to drink at your own pace. There is not wait staff to the tables in the room – you purchase at the counter in the lobby. Their snacky foods (meat and cheese platter in particular), were overpriced, but never fear: there was a pizza food truck outside, Red Stone. And it was GOOD. And at a pretty good price of $9-$13 for a 10″ very, very good pizza. I’d go back just for the pizza and wine. Listening rooms are wonderful to hear live bands, and this was no exception. They’ve set up the room to be beautiful and the right amount of rustic while still making it an awesome music venue in terms of lighting and acoustics. Given the setting, the goal is to only hear the musician: no chattering or whooping or disrespectful behavior, and that’s precisely what Caprock has curated. Warning, ladies: floors are concrete, so if you’re trying to sneak out in the middle of a song while wearing heels, it’ll be loud! On that note, there are only two stalls in the women’s restroom, so go before the break between sets. My only hope would be to have the tables a bit more spread out next time, given folks will all turn out their chairs to watch the musician. It makes it hard to navigate back to your seat! Chairs are the wooden “wedding chairs”, so they’re not the most comfortable if you like to sit up straight. All in all, though, very great venue! I will gladly pay more to see musicians here and really listen to the music than at a loud or crazy bar. Thanks, Caprock!
