It’s been years since I’ve been back (and if you read my previous review, then you’d understand why). But this review is about a comeback and redemption so I’m not going to dwell on the past and bash what is not the forefront of any issues anymore. It’s been 7 years since my last visit and immediately upon my return I was greeted by a couple faces that I recognized from back when I used to frequent this establishment. The dining area and the deli counter appeared to be very clean. The staff working the deli counter were typical of jewish delis… “YEAH YEAH, WHATCHA NEED?”… You’re not ready, no problem they’ll move onto someone else before you have a chance to take a breathe… I don’t mind this pushiness but I’d probably be happier to not feel rushed. I knew what I wanted so no problem… BUT when I took my order over to the cashier to pay I realized I forgot something; I didn’t bother but had I not been rushed I would’ve had time to get that missed item and I probably would’ve inquired about other items… just more money to spend but oh well Quality of the food, that was spot on…. bagels were perfect, our lox spread was excellent, the chopped liver and whitefish salads were excellent (not cheap but really well worth the cost spent; roughly 20 dollars for a pound of whitefish salad) Bottomline, this place has earned my business back.

U Know Korean Bistro – Menu with Prices – 290 S State Rd 7, Hollywood

The plaza and place are dingy, but sometimes those are the best places. Based on that and seeing people come and go from this place when I go to the store next door, I decided to go in and inquire regarding items for myself and friend (one vegetarian and the other a seafood lover). Korean restaurants ALWAYS have plenty of both as I have been eating Korean food regularly since I was a teenager 25 years ago. I asked to see a menu and inquired regarding both. The woman behind the counter seemed to be EXTREMELY bothered that I asked to see a menu. When I inquired as to what seafood and vegan plated there were she mentioned two seafood plates and said “there isn’t much for vegetarians.” I proceeded to skim through the menu and found MANY options which seemed to be vegetarian, if not even vegan. I proceeded to inquire one tofu and/or vegetable dish at a time while she did whatever she was doing, which was obviously MUCH more important than going over the menu with a potential customer. As I inquired dish by dish she would give short, snarky, attitude-filled answers like “yeah, that is,” or “has fish sauce.” Not to mention me asking about the possibility of not adding the fish sauce. Ultimately, based on prying, I found 4-5 items which would have been conducive for vegetarians, contrary to what she told me to push me out, and many for seafood lovers, but I would definitely not patronize a place which clearly doesn’t want the business. I hope their poor attitude results in a drop in business on the part of those they treat this way as this place has no business being in the service industry.

Landmark Deli Menu with Prices 101 S Whiting St # 115, Alexandria

I’ve lived in the building this deli resides in for about 6 years and the deli now has new ownership. While I really liked the deli before I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT now. The menu has been mostly revamped and offers a wide variety of food including great Vietnamese options. Today I tried the lemongrass beef bahn-mi under suggestion of one of the new owners and the flavor is fantastic. The menu has plenty of healthy and vegetarian options with exceptional pricing . I’m currently moving and have been visiting the deli for 4 days consecutively trying new things and all of them have been amazingly good. They offer a great selection of delicious made to order smoothies, Thai iced tea, breakfast items and two boards of additional items to choose from. The two ladies running this place are personable, friendly and professional. There’s definitely a more cozy and welcoming feel and with the extensive menu I’m sure anyone could find something they love here.

Thanh Son Tofu – Menu with Prices – 9688 Westminster Blvd, Garden Grove

I’ve been going here over 20 years. I will always be a loyal customer to this place? The Tofu is excellent and so is everything else they sell. Very friendly environment place. Over 20 years ago I stopped by this place in the evening. After picking out a bunch of items I realized I didn’t have my wallet with me when the lady told me my total roughly around $20. The lady told me that’s okay you don’t have to put it back. You can pay me the next time you stop by. I said to her I won’t be down here until next week. I told her I don’t feel right doing that. She said,” that’s fine. You stop by whenever you able to as long as you remember. If you don’t pay then you will answer to God. I just don’t want you to go home without food”. I took her offered and left with the food. I stop by to pay her in 2 days instead. The lady who helped me today was the same lady who helped me over 20 years ago?

Syb’s West End Deli Menu with Prices 2151 Liberty St, Allentown

When I moved back to PA after 6 years in Florida; I was dying for a Jewish Deli Pastrami sandwich. I went to Sands Casino where I discovered that the Carnegie Deli went out of business 3 months ago. I was not to be denied and pulled out the smart phone and googled best Pastrami sandwich in the Lehigh Valley. Syb’s came up and I called them. I was told their Pastrami was as good or better than Carnegie Deli, so off I went. Here is what happened. After I ordered my sandwich, I saw the the counterman pull out a whole pastrami from the cold cut case. After slicing the pastrami on a slicing machine, I saw him put it in the microwave. After cooking it I saw him put it on a plate which I saw the server pick it up and deliver it to my table. It was horrible. When the women I spoke to on the phone, who I said I was the guy that called you upon my arrival to Syb’s stated that now I have a real deli to come to! I told her I would never come back and that real deli is not microwaved. She got angry and said no one in the Lehigh Valley has a steamer table since the Carnegie Deli closed! It was then that I realized I had to drive and hour and fifteen to Harolds Deli in Edison, NJ to satisfy my deli craving. I have done so a few times since with no regrets. If anyone discovers a deli with a steamer table for Pastrami, Corned Beef, or Brisket – PLEASE let me know! REAL DELI IS NOT MICROWAVED!

J Michael’s Philly Deli – Menu with Prices – 8232 Market St, Wilmington

Iâ??ve visited the deli last night and had a very disappointing experience. Iâ??ve never posted a review but I wanted people to know before they spend any money. I went in and was ignored for 15 minutes when I was right in front of the cash register but during that time I was able to observe a man behind the counter preparing sandwiches and salads with no gloves on while eating his dinner. I was so horrified I didnâ??t know what to do I did pay for my food and then I just and threw my food in the trashcan. I did contact management before I posted this review to let them know but I have not heard back anything .

Pick ‘n Save – Menu with Prices – 1819 Main St, Green Bay

I have begun shopping here more frequently as the prices now are lower since the chain was taken over by Kroger. If you enjoy “stunt savings” (mix and match groups to save a dollar on each item, loading your loyalty card with specific savings, use of coupons, etc.), this is the supermarket for you. Sale items can match and even undercut Aldis. Pick ‘n Save slso has lowered the everyday price on hundreds of store-brand basics that also consistently match Aldis. Excellent produce, deli and meat departments, extensive bakery and lots of staff to point you in the right direction. Love to pick up an occasional roasted or 8-piece fried chicken, especialy when on sale. Decent adult beverage section where you can select 6 bottles of wine or craft beer to save money. Overall selection is very good, though you may have only one choice or size on some of the more esoteric items.

Rossi Catering & Deli – Menu with Prices – 5774 Broadway, Sacramento

I’m giving this place a 5 star review because I want to really like this place. I live down the street and I truly want a great deli in our Tahoe Park area. I’m originally from the east coast and I’ve eaten at a lot of great delis, especially in New York City. Okay, now for the review… I walked in and found it to feel like there’s not much here. No big sign with a bunch of great stuff to choose from. Instead, there were about 15 sandwiches in a little case…. Umm… I guess I’ll choose one… So, I chose the turkey and bacon. I will say that initially upon eatin my sandwich, I felt a little upset because it seemed like a bread sandwich. As I ate a little more, I realized there was a few more slices of meat on the sandwich but I wouldn’t say it’s a great sandwich. I still tasted way too much bread. The flavor was pretty good overall though and I can tell they use good cheeses. Robb, there is a grocery store just down the street from here that blows your sandwiches away… It’s called, Corti Brothers. I’m sure you’ve been there. I understand you can’t offer even half as much as they do but it would be nice if I felt even close to how I feel when I go there. A bunch of sandwich options? Check. A bunch of bread/roll choices? Check. A bunch of cheeses? Check. A feeling of happiness because I know I’m going to get a fresh sandwich made? Check. Macaroni and potato salad? Check. Ice cold variety of good sodas and seltzers? Check. Is this not the basics of what to expect when walking into a “deli”? I really hope you step it up here, Robb. Your sandwich was about 6 bucks. That’s cheap! Togos is more expensive. Togos also serves more meat on a sandwich. I believe Tahoe Park has enough people that would happily pay 8.50 or 9 bucks for a bigger sandwich that has all the fixings on it – made fresh. I really want to feel like I have a great deli in my neighborhood. I know that you have the capability to help me feel that way. To help us all feel that way. I’m being completely honest here because I want our new Tahoe Park neighborhood deli to last. Please step it up and make me keep my 5 star review. Your business depends on it and so does my appetite. Thank you, Robb. Let’s knock it out of the Tahoe Park!

Makeda’s Butter Cookies – Menu with Prices – 488 S 2nd St, Memphis

If you’re haemophaliac, you’re a bleeder If you’re obsessed with Bae then you need her But if you’re in Mem-phis Then I promise you this You need desserts and things from Makeda’s I had a mixed experience here and I was hoping to have a really good one. I was excited that they were open even on Columbus Day and was looking forward to trying them more than almost anything else in Memphis. The problem was the little boy who were serving. I’m not very easily offended and it’s lucky that I’m not because here’s what happened. First things first is that I look pretty (gasp) and scandalous much like my girlfriend but in a different way. I know this and I’m okay with it and I know I’m going to get comments. Usually there are some people who seem offended or and a lot more people who just make fun of me and even more people who hit on me, stare at me, and flirt with me incessantly or even give me free stuff. This boy was about 10 years old so I wasn’t expecting anything in the way of that behaviour from him but no sooner had I walked up to the counter then he asked if I had a burn mark on my arm. He was referring to my little Playboy bunny from tanning. So I told him no it’s from tanning. Like – so what’s tanning he says – so I explain to him what it is in brief and he was rolling his eyes and shaking his head, like acting as if that was something that he disapproved of. From that point on he was noticeably pissy with me. He’s welcome to disapprove of it on his own time but right now he’s taking my money in his mother’s store and he should probably be a bit more respectful. Plus what if it was a burn mark? What if I was scarred and I was sensitive about it and then this kid is asking me about it instead of taking my money. But whatever. Didn’t bother me I just imagine it would bother certain other people. Literally not bothered…. yet. But I would be. He recommended different things and kept trying to upsell me on different things which is fine because I wanted to try a bunch of different things anyway. Once I had all my items he took my money. It was $17 which is very pricey considering I only got three items. Extremely extraordinary pricey I should say. I gave him 20 and some change so that I would get $3 back. One of the dollars was going straight in the tip jar for him. So instead of giving me my $3 bills back he gives me 2… and then he looks up at me as if to wait and see if I’m going to say something. I just gave him a look like I know what you just did but I’m not going to call you out on it because for all I know you’re just really bad at math. And he kind of smirked (like he got one over on me) (he didn’t) (I just don’t care enough to demand my dollar) (lol) and walked away. So the register is going to be $1 higher than it should be for that day but then I wonder if that’s just one of his little techniques. Either that or he’s bad at math and either way he should not be serving and they should not be doing that. Yes I could have just called him out on it but I didn’t want to have an argument with a 10 year old kid and I didn’t want to get him in trouble with his parents. So he just lost his tip. Or earned his tip by sneaky means I don’t know. Then I had three different items and he acted like he was going to put them in a bag, but changed his mind and just plopped them them down on the counter (in a sort of aggressive way, I have no idea why), put a fork on top of them and walked away. This little kid – even though he’s only 10 – gets one star. And he owes me a dollar. And he has some attitude. At least he’s a confident young man but he can do better in terms of the way he treats customers. And how about the actual food? Well the butter cookie is okay. It’s not amazing. I don’t understand why it’s so popular. The real strength lies in the lemon cake a

CVS Pharmacy – Menu with Prices – 2200 Coit Rd, Plano

On a Saturday evening (not close to closing); I walked up to the Pharmacy area and did not approach the counter until they were ready to help me. The two women behind the counter were talking (not about work), looked right at me and continued to discuss whatever drama was going on in their lives. Finally, one acknowledged me and was quite rude as if I had interrupted an important conversation. I requested a behind the counter product, the generic version which I saw her put her hand right on it so I knew she understood my preference. When she rang it up It was pricier than normal but I just assumed they had increased the price. At no point in time was I ever rude or disrespectful. Later I realized I had been given the more expensive name brand version which I’m pretty sure was on purpose. I should have checked it but I knew my preference had been clearly conveyed, just not followed. Won’t be going in this CVS ever again not even to shop in the store.

Certo’s Gourmet Foods & Caterers – Menu with Prices – 27 Seguine Ave, Staten Island

This place is a JOKE!!! For starters no matter what time of day u go in there the line for the deli counter is nearly out the door, because they clearly don’t have enough help!! Secondly they are RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED!! Soon as u walk in there’s usually a woman at the catering counter who must be one of the owners and she sits there all done up with makeup and jewelry that’s clearly not called for in such a venue. She sits there like The Belladonna with a puss on her face and a less than friendly attitude! I once ordered a tray of riceballs for the holidays from her and by the time I was through I wanted to tell her to shove the riceballs up her RUDE UGLY ASS! She totally turned me off by how RUDE she was. Their cold cuts are no different from what u would expect to get at any deli or supermarket, the only difference is they’re priced about 30% higher because the owners of this place think that it’s some high end establishment. U can get better specialty items with a huge selection at LaBella Market place where the staff is much friendlier and the prices are significantly lower! Bottom line Certo’s SUX!!! Don’t waste your time or money on these arrogant, RUDE nasty bastards!!

Chill…The Milkshake Bar – Menu with Prices – 6402 Louetta Rd Suite 115, Spring

Darn. Their shakes taste so yummy, but they definitely need to work on there service. Why ask for a name if you’re not going to use it? The first time we came in our drinks were just placed on the counter until we had to ask if those were our drinks. Second time… again no name, no drink name, no drink! My daughter received her drink and after we saw 5 other people who came in after get their drinks I finally had to ask despite the two behind the counter SEEING my perplexed look. We were planning to take it to go, but by the time I received my drink she was already done! I didn’t bother with a review the first time in hope the second visit would be better, but it was even worse! Their drinks are delicious, but if it happens again I won’t even bother coming back. I don’t even care for shakes but thought theirs was exceptional… not worth it if it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Mesa Food & Deli – Menu with Prices – 744 E Broadway Rd, Mesa

This store has lots of great freshly made food. Not alot of places have such a great deli. It’s definitely worth stopping by to pick from the selection of sandwiches. This is a full fledge mini mart so you can get cigarettes, alcohol and alot of what you might expect at a Circle K or something like it. This store is also a listed Ria Money Transfer location so you can send money to your loved ones anywhere on the globe so sending to Mexico is a sinch. Ria offers transfer fees that are better than MoneyGram and especially Western Union. Sending money via Ria requires more verification than others to make sure legitimate transactions are all they process. There are a lot of countries that are blacklisted from receiving funds but Ria’s verification process ensures you can still send money to one of over 300,000 Ria agents across the globe. Don’t bother with Western Union they suck. To send money I had to get a photo taken and show my social security card when normally basic info is only needed and they still kept my money from sending and they didn’t tell me so days went by before I got my money back and had to start all over with another money transfer vendor.
