We were looking to try local wineries in the Spotsylvania area on our NYE excursion and Bacchus came up in our yelp search. Admittedly we didn’t read the reviews closely so the strip mall location was a funny and unexpected intro for our group. Even though we came a bit early for tastings, Hal graciously accommodated us, answered our questions big, small and naive and ensured we had a great experience. He is clearly passionate about his craft – doing this on the side of his NASA gig – and it comes in through his informative but approachable wine overviews and the range of activities and offerings available at the store. The tastings at Bacchus were not only free but superior to some other wineries we visited on our tour. We ended up purchasing 3 bottles of the “Dance Mom” Hard Lemonade wine which we expected to be “basic” but was actually yummy and very drinkable, especially for a sweet wine. Plan to circle back the next time we are in the area!

Nauti Vine Winery Menu with Prices 3950 S Main St, Akron

Tastings: $1 each or do 3 for $5 and get a free wine glass. *they will also give you a free “splash” if you are just trying to decide which what you’d like for a glass or bottle. We tried: Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir We ended up getting a bottle of the Pinot Noir and sat outside in the heated part of their patio. I wish it had been nicer out so we could have enjoyed their beautiful lake views! But I am so glad they had part of the patio enclosed with heaters so we could still sit outside. They have plenty of outdoor seating and even an area down the hill right by the water. I would love to spend an evening down there! The inside was nice too and had a fireplace. They also had games under some of the tables to play as well. We also ordered the Caprese pizza which was quite yummy. However, it is a thinner crust pizza so not the most filling. It came out very quick! We loved the big chunks of mozzarella and whatever was drizzled overtop (I forget what it was called now). This was defiantly one of my favorite wineries we visited. My mom and I had a great evening here and would love to come back when it’s warmer to enjoy their outdoor space.

Bacchus Event Services – Menu with Prices – 3670 2100 S, Salt Lake City

Bacchus catered my wedding at Louland Falls August 6th and I am so very happy I went with the best! They really are the best bar service in the state! If you want professional, well dressed, courteous, and just awesome to be around bar staff well look no further because Bacchus fits the bill! Anne McGarry in the office went above and beyond helping me with all sorts of decisions! Our bartenders, Gary and Arvid, were so fun and super quick and just kept the bar going all night! If I ever need bar service in the future I know this is the company to hire! Thanks Bacchus for making our wedding awesome!

Everson Royce Wine & Spirits – Menu with Prices – 155 N Raymond Ave, Pasadena

There is not enough room in this little box to express my love for Everson Royce, and I am not creative enough to pull together some crazy love poem, so I will do my best to summarize: In short, this place is absolutely amazing. First and foremost, it is a great wine and beer store with a really wide selection (despite its small size) and really unique finds that I have not seen elsewhere. The staff are always very happy to help you find a wine for a special occasion or just to sip at home, and they seem to know details about every bottle in the store, which is impressive! Now, to be honest, I mostly end up coming here for their fantastic wine tastings, which are on Tuesday and Friday evenings and Saturday afternoons (day drinking, anyone???) They always bring the same expertise and wide variety to the tastings, and in addition all of the bartenders are happy to chat about the wines and answer your questions without any pretension, even if you know nothing about wine. Plus they serve the wine with this butter and bread that is just out of this world, so that is a big plus ? And if you are not interested in the tasting on offer, you can always get a glass of wine when they are open for business. All in all, highly highly recommend this place! Cheers!

West Coast Wine ? Cheese – Menu with Prices – 2165 Union St, San Francisco

Thank you West Coast Wine for inspiring my first Yelp review! Only went to West Coast Wine for a special wine tasting with one of my favorite wineries. Asked a few questions about the tasting and pricing, got some eye rolling immediately from folks behind the bar. At that moment I should have walked out, but I sat down to give them a chance… I received my tastings but no information of the wine that was being poured. The other customers next to me all got detailed explanations of what they were tasting. Obviously I was being treated differently. It did not feel good. I am temporarily disabled with both of my wrists broken, one arm is still casted. During my tasting, one of the guys pouring wine asked me to move my backpack without consideration for my situation and no offer to help me out. He told me I had to hang my backpack on the bar hook near my seat where it obviously wouldn’t fit and I couldn’t easily put it there. You can offer all the best wines, but BAD customer service makes for the worst glass. I couldn’t down my wine fast enough to leave this pretentious spot. So many great wine bars in this city to waste time and money here.

The Santaluz Club – Menu with Prices – 8170 Caminito Santaluz E, San Diego

I feel incredibly lucky to live in such an amazing community, and be a member of the fabulous Santaluz Club. The food at the club is truly delicious and interesting, and the menu is always changing. The staff couldnâ??t be better. Attentive, kind, and thoughtful are the words that come to mind. So many activities to choose from….beyond fine dining, they have cooking lessons, literary luncheons, wine enrichment programs, live music once a week, special wine dinners, weekly wine tastings, and special dinners and brunches for all the holidays. There is something fun for all, regardless if you are 5 or 55!

Old Town Spring Tasting Room – Menu with Prices – 206 Main St, Spring

Texas wine? Yes, please! This was my first time here. My co-worker friend recommended it to me after we had tea and walked around a few shops at Old Town Spring. You can sit inside or on the porch. They were doing free wine tastings. The lady hosting the tastings was friendly and knowledgeable. We settled on a bottle of the cherry flavored wine over the other 2 options. It was delicious. Apparently, it’s also a healthy option with antioxidants and helps you sleep. Perfect! Reminded me of Lindeman’s Kriek, which is also cherry. We decided to get a bottle to share for $28 and sit on the porch. One glass is $8. One of the employees opened it up for us, got us two glasses, and set it up on one of the porch tables. Today was a hot day, but there is a fan, and the shade made it bearable to sit outside. After a while, he asked if our wine was still cool enough. He brought us a bucket of ice to chill it in. Nice touch! They serve a variety of beer and wine, but no rosé. Had to ask! Haha. Their wines come from a winery near Aransas Pass. Might have to take a trip out there some day!

Brandywine Bar and Bottle Shop – Menu with Prices – 2408 W Northwest Blvd, Spokane

I highly recommend Brandywine for both enjoying and purchasing wine and beer. I have visited several times and am very impressed with their exceptional bottle and tap list (WINE ON TAP, people, is a glorious thing). In addition to friendly, knowledgeable service, great beer/wine/cocktails and lovely food, the live music on weekends provides a very welcoming ambiance indeed. And if you need beer or wine suggestions, they can be trusted to advise you perfectly! I needed to bring a bottle of wine to a recent dinner party, and asked the owner John for his advice on what to provide for people really into wine. He suggested a Cab Franc from Oregon which ended up being such a tremendous, delicious hit with everyone that I will absolutely rely on John’s wine recommendations henceforth. So if you’re stopping by to enjoy the well-curated tap offerings, be sure to take advantage of their insightful take-away beverage advice as well.

Silverlake Wine – Menu with Prices – 2395 Glendale Blvd A, Los Angeles

I lived in Los Feliz for five years and always figured I’d Yelp Silverlake Wine when I went in for one of its frequent tastings, something I idly intended to do the entire time I was in the area. I never made it in, so I guess it’ll probably never happen, but I still have plenty to say about this iconic wine shop. I’ve only been in a few times over the years, quick stops to grab bottles to take to dinners and birthday parties in and around Silver Lake. It’s an attractive shop, small but comfortable and tightly stocked. I’ve always found the parking easy and the service fast, friendly, and helpful. Wine stores live and die by the knowledge of their employees, and the people here seem to know their stuff. The wine selection is extensive and interesting, with a wide variety of bottles for most budgets. Silverlake Wine has managed to become much more than a boutique wine store. It’s now synonymous with a certain kind of hip, youthful bon vivantism, a lifestyle that’s casually luxurious, but affordable to anyone paying Silver Lake rent. The Silverlake Wine team puts on the Friday night wine tastings at Barnsdall Park, a summer staple for yipster Angelenos, and they’ve done lovely work with places like L & E and Everson Royce Bar. They have a sister shop in Highland Park Wines, and a new Silverlake Wine location in the Arts District. Not bad for a neighborhood wine store. This team knows what it’s doing, and I’m one of many smiling suckers buying what they’re selling.

DArgenzio Winery and Tasting Room – Santa Rosa – Menu with Prices – 1301 Cleveland Ave Ste A, Santa Rosa

Family and I were planning a trip to the area for another winery, and since we were going to be in town for the weekend we wanted to visit another winery. Originally we were going to visit a bigger-name winery, but it took many phone calls to get them to answer my questions about their various tours, and none of the employees seemed too enthusiastic about helping me, so I decided to find a different winery with better service, especially since we were going to be in an area with so many options. D’Argenzio was one of the wineries that came up in my search, and when I called, the owner answered, and not only answered my questions quickly, but recommended I purchase a Groupon to get the best deal and the antipasti board. Looking at the menu and speaking with the owner convinced me that this was going to be a nice place for my family to visit. We enjoy pairing our wines with food during tastings so we can get an idea of what we will do with our wine when we get home. When we arrived, the owner greeted us in the parking lot. It was also nice because two of the people in our group ended up with broken legs at the time of our trip, and the parking spaces are at most a few steps from the winery. When we checked in Rachel offered to seat us inside or outside, which was nice to have the choice. She also let us walk around to see the winery and make our decision. The whole place was cute and picture-worthy, but it was a nice day and the trees provided some nice shade, so we chose the back patio. We were given 5 or 6 tastings, and Rachel was great, paying attention to which wines we enjoyed and providing additional tastings of those when it came to figuring out what we were going to buy. That personal touch went a long way and that was how I decided which bottles to purchase. We had our antipasti boards, which came with a nice variety of breadsticks, meat, cheese, and their prosciutto-wrapped asparagus. We also ordered an appetizer plate of the asparagus because we love asparagus! None of the food disappointed and the wine was great too! If you eat pork and like asparagus, I highly recommend trying the asparagus. They have a nice variety of wines that suites different palates. All of us in the group like different wines, and each of us found at least one wine that we enjoyed. We have already recommended D’Argenzio to others and look forward to returning whenever we are in the area.

SPiLL – The Wine Bar – Menu with Prices – 4800 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh

We stopped in to see what this brand new wine bar was all about – always exciting to have someplace new to try out! I learned that Spill has a special license that allows them to carry special wines from a few limited release wineries in Italy and Australia. Basically, they have some really unique options. The owner, Robin, is delightful, and helped us sample several of the offerings they had available. We were instantly smitten with the decor – rich leather chairs, bright airy big windows, a cozy bar at the back. The first wine we tried was a montepulciano grape rose. It was dry, lightly fruity, and crisp, hitting every mark without being derivative. Next, we sampled a Sauvignon Blanc, which was so unusual – all fruit and melon on the nose, but bone dry and light. We ended with two reds, a Rosso and another Italian wine I can’t spell (sorry! It was really tasty too!). The Rosso was intense and piney in aromatics, but clean and light in flavor. The final wine was rich, dark and intense, but still not as hit-you-over-the-head as most American cab sauv’s. We ended up splitting a glass of rose (perfection) while nibbling on some pistachios and picking out a box of six more wines to go. The prices are not “cheap” ($16-45ish/bottle, $6-$9ish/glass), but the quality is outstanding, and the proprietors are fantastic. It feels like a little piece of “old Bloomfield” with it’s old school decor and authentic Italian wines, even though it’s brand new. Do yourself a favor and start or end your night here – you’ll be glad you did.

Robinette’s Apple Haus & Winery – Menu with Prices – 3142 4 Mile Rd NE, Grand Rapids

I came to visit family in GR and was excited to try this place after reading about it. I love to support small family owned places and I am familiar with how wine tastings work (I work at a winery here in Chicago) and I have to be honest and say this one was NOT good! 1. What winery closes at 5:30pm on a Saturday night?! 2. We walked in, it was sort of busy but not really. There was an open spot at the end of the bar so I walked up and the bar/winetender greeted me. Unbeknownst to me, another employee was telling the 2 women I was with that there was an “order” they were doing the tastings in and apparently there were 2 other girls “waiting and ahead of us”. I have never heard that before. If there is a spot open at the bar, you walk up. The 2 girls literally pushed me out of the way and were really rude (not the winery’s fault but still). I was aggravated at that point. 3. We were given a sheet to fill out. NONE of the wines were explained. How am I supposed to know what’s in your blends? A little explanation of the wines OR a sheet that explains them would have been appreciated instead of having to guess. 4. The amount of the tasting was VERY LITTLE and I mean VERY little. We pour 1.5oz for each of our tastings. This was barely even a sip, no joke! 5. Overall I was REALLY disappointed in this as neither of the 2 women I was with had ever been to a wine tasting and I was so exited to take them. Needless to say from this experience, I doubt they’ll ever go to another one. This place might be good for other things in the fall but as far as wine tastings go….. would not recommend ?
