Had one of the five best meals ever here while visiting Bend for a few days with the family. We paid the extra $10 to reserve the private “porch” dining room and had the most amazing experience. Our wait person was awesome, she explained the menu and made suggestions without being overbearing. Everything we had was great but here’s what I can verify personally, for Appetizer- I had the Sicilian style calamari. If I had had anything this good while in Sicily in June I think I would have stayed longer. Simply fabulous, you must try it. Salad- tomato fresh off the vine with homemade mozzarella stracciatella. Entree- Pork tenderloin perfectly seasoned and cooked pink just like I prefer it. Desert- Fromage Blanc Cheesecake. Beautiful and very tasty . I was very impressed with the food in this city but Ariana was the best of the lot. If you live here or are visiting you must try it.

La Mia Focaccia – Menu with Prices – 6330 Powerline Rd, Fort Lauderdale

Went for the 3rd time and let me say I’m not sure why I haven’t been here more…Everything I have had is excellent and my co workers feel the same. I’m a huge fan of the #22 Grilled Chicken, Broccoli Rabe, Fresh Mozzarella or the #21 Grilled Chicken, Roasted Peppers, Spinach, Smoked Mozzarella. The sandwich is fresh, tasty and filling. I like you can choose which Focaccia bread; although i seem to always go with the Fresh Tomato Basil Garlic one. They have many options and mine is always fresh tasting. The pasta salad they give is delicious, I like it too because there is NO onions! Wish they gave a little more. I wash it all down with one of the flavor waters they usually offer at the counter. Always have good options. FYI, They are only open for lunch. It gets busy at lunchtime so might want to pop in a few minutes before or after the rush. Service is great too. Staff is friendly. Good, clean atmosphere.

Extreme Pizza – Menu with Prices – 111 W Nolana Ave, McAllen

9/7 Saturday My sister, her husband, and my niece Lilly went out for pizza and it was worth it! I ordered the Hanoi Fever: shredded pork, maybe more like pieces of pork, marinated in a spicy hoisin style sauce, peanuts, green onions, cilantro, carrots, jalapeños and mozzarella. While the spicy hoisin style sauce wasn’t really spicy to me, the fresh slices of jalapeños did it for me! Great choice if you like spicy! Maybe I’ll dare myself to try the Ghost Wave- ghost pepper cheese!!! THIN CRUST PIZZA!!! YUMMMY!!! We had THE YARD, Cheese and another pizza with sausage, mushroom and ricotta! Everyone was satisfied! My nephew Toby turned 28 years old! Ok, The Yard comes with so many toppings one slice is all I could handle: Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, black olives, mushroom, green peppers, red onion, vine ripe tomatoes, tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar! So much and so gooooood! On Tuesday’s they have a deal: buy one larger and get a smaller free. Something like that. So next Tuesday…yep, pizza for lunch! Took the pizza to go, and didn’t stay, but I do want to go hang out and have a slice and some beer! Wonderful pizza and a great price!

Frankie’s Italian Ristorante and Pizza – Menu with Prices – 3085 Canton Rd, Marietta

We hadn’t been to Frankie’s in about 3 years. From tonight’s experience, it will be much longer til next time. Frankie’s has a very nice feel and look upon entering. Our waiter was super nice and prompt. He took our drink orders and delivered them quickly. Our app was the calamari. A very generous serving was delivered crispy and hot. A bit chewy, but satisfying w the sauce. We decided to split Eggplant Parmesan. The salad and garlic butter rolls were great. So you’re saying “what’s wrong”? Well the entree was merely a slab or so of eggplant on a platter with some generic sauce slathered all over with what could have been a couple of mozzarella slice melted over it. Tasteless and greasy. A website describes Eggplant Parmesan as one of the great Italian comfort foods. A dish layered with eggplant; mozzarella; basil and sauce. This would NOT describe our serving. No technique was applied to our entree. Just a shortcut instead of a little pride. We like the ambience but put some real art into your entrees.

730 Tavern, Kitchen & Patio – Menu with Prices – 730 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

This review is only for the breakfast buffet on Mother’s and the service we recieved. I literally only took a point off because the mozzarella sticks were not hot & gooey and they only had one meat option at the carving station. Also the omelettes that we ordered from the omelette station were a little dry (should have used an olive oil) and stingy on the cheese. We went this last Sunday for mother’s day and had a great time! This used to be the old Tavern in The Square location which had a Sunday breakfast buffet. Since no other restaurants have a traditional buffet anymore it’s nice to have these guys close by. We arrived as soon as it opened and were seated right away even without a reservation. Everyone was SUPER friendly and welcoming! The options were interesting and plentiful. Along the window there is plenty of fresh fruit, and many cakes, muffins and other Continental buffet choices, to the right of that was a carving station featuring roast pork – I don’t eat pork anymore but it was beautiful! Lol To the left of the dessert table there was a beautiful and fresh tomato, mozzarella and fresh basil salad display! This is one of my fav salads! They also had other green salad options. The hot bar featured a combo of breakfast and lunch options from Eggs Bennie and sausage to fried plaintains and grilled mixed veggies! I love the fact that there were a lot of vegetarian options! Even though I am not a vegetarian sometimes I just like a variety of fruits and veggies! The also had grilled pineapple! Yum! The mozzarella sticks were not hot and gooey, but they were tasty and breading was crunchy so it was a trade off. Lol. All in all, it’s a great place with lots of variety for only $17! Service was great too! I forget my servers name but she was super friendly and kind even though my family likes to linger after we paid the check! I added pictures but the pics don’t do it justice. Go visit for yourself.

Casserole 2 Go – Menu with Prices – 1208 Laurel St, Columbia

I got a grilled chicken salad for lunch and two medium frozen casseroles for dinner. The salad was really good, ingredients were fresh. Chicken tasty with a homemade vinaigrette dressing…at least I think it’s homemade…didn’t ask. The eggplant parmigiana and sheppard’s pie were awesome! Hubby and kids absolutely loved them! Very flavorful and tasty. I just let the casserole thaw then popped in oven. Voila! A great tasting homemade meal without the work! Thanks Casserole 2 Go! I’ll definitely be back for more! ð??ð???

Southern Kicks BBQ – Menu with Prices – 221 Johnny Mercer Blvd, Savannah

We have gotten lunch here 4 times so far and we love it. There is another bbq place we used to frequent quite often but Southern Kicks is our new favorite. Today we had pulled pork that was so moist and tender and perfectly smoky. We also had cole slaw that my husband loved. We also had potato salad. I normally don’t care for potato salad that isn’t homemade. This tastes very much like homemade. If I bought the butt, stayed at home for hours on end tending the smoker and bought and made all the sides I would have spent much more than what I paid for Southern Kicks. We’ll definitely be back.

Veranda Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 150 Australian Ave, West Palm Beach

There is a not too well known little ‘gem’ tucked away inside the Hilton Hotel right off Palm Beach International Airport. It’s called ‘The Veranda’ restaurant. My wife and I were looking for a place to entertain visiting family relatives that were just passing through. Some where we could dine for a reasonable price in a moderately quiet atmoshpere so after dinner we could reminisce and catch up on family news without being ‘rushed’ off our table. We had eaten at this Hilton Hotel’s Thanksgiving and Easter buffets which were nothing short of fabulous. So we decided to try their main restaurant ‘The Veranda’. The interior is well appointed and the atmosphere was classy and upscale without being overboard. (Check out the Hotel website photos) Great view of Pine Lake through the wall of glass windows. There was a buffet offered for a moderate price offering 3 main entrees (stuffed Flounder Filllet – Ziti with meatballs and Sauce – Roast Pork Tenderloin Medallions in gravy – String Beans Almondine, Breaded sauteed Cauliflower – Potatoes Au Gratin), a salad bar with a choice of 2 soups and a dessert table. One of our members took the buffet and the rest ordered from the menu. I had a simple sirloin steak and potato that was cooked perfectly. Dinner came with soup and salad bar and a choice of one side dish. Several of us ordered the French Onion Soup as an appetizer which was not included with the dinner. Oh but it was so worth it being rich oniony and flavorful ,not to salty with genuine Greyere cheese melted over the top. All pronounced it delicious. ‘Chicken Penne’ was another entree composed of grilled chicken breast sauteed with asparagus, garlic and fresh basil in a sun – dried tomato broth with penne pasta. (taken right off the menu). All the entrees were fresh and were all consistently well prepared and excellently presented. Our waitress was attentive, professional and engaging when appropriate. After dessert we retired to a little alcove lounge and continued our discussion. All in all our experience turned out to be perfect for a small get together among friends. As it turned out I was speaking with a colleague at work and mentioned The Veranda and he perked up and told me he and his wife eat there with friends often! So whether your visiting Florida or just want to dine out locally, The Veranda is a very good choice with good food, great quiet atmosphere in a classy setting. GO – EAT – ENJOY!

4th & Peabody: A Nashville Tavern – Menu with Prices – 415 4th Ave S, Nashville

First night in Nash and didn’t have the energy to venture too far. We walked out of the hotel and literally back into 4th & Peabody. It took a minute for us to be greeted and it wasn’t very busy, which threw up a red flag. After being seated we were greeted promptly by a sweet waitress. She was patient with our menu questions and explained to us that the menu features “shareable” food items and a kids menu. We ordered the kids Macaroni & cheese for our very picky 4 year old. We also ordered the potato rounds, Tennessee Tangle, and 2 Sweet Home Nashville’s. My husband ordered a salad and was able to add grilled chicken or steak. They brought out a tasty, sweet/hot popcorn to snack on. The adults ordered the Chattahoochie drink which is a ginger beer with strawberries, basil, ginger beer, and Tito’s vodka. These were fabulous cocktails. Their cocktail menu is very exciting. It offers many different and unique flavors, but we stuck with the one bc it was perfect. The food took a bit longer than we expected and the waitress, who stayed in touch with us often, explained they bring out the food as it’s ready so it’s hot and they had a large groups order right in front of ours. Thankfully we weren’t in a hurry and we waited patiently. The kids mac was amazing. My picky-eater son loved it and everyone was stealing bites of his food. The Sweet home Nashville (seasoned fried chicken tender on a sweet potato waffle w/cayenne butter) plates came out hot and delicious. The flavors are incredible! The Potato rounds (small potatoes roasted and packed with flavor) and Tennessee Tangle (think shoestring onion rings and a fabulous dipping sauce) both came out piping hot and cooked to perfection. I’d have to say my favorites were the sweet home Nashville and the Tennessee tangle. We were very impressed with the quality of food, service, and tasty drinks! Give them a chance, you’ll be glad you did!

Sum 2 Eat – Soul Food Resturant – Menu with Prices – 1815 W Erwin St, Tyler

You could drive by this place and never realize the deliciousness hiding inside. I think this building was a Dairy Queen about 30 years ago. It’s been several other businesses since. Right now it’s a place you don’t want to miss. Simple food, cooked right. There’s no menu, because selections change daily. You walk in and go up to the steam table. There’s a few entree choices, and several side item choices. Today they had fried chicken, fried catfish, and smothered pork chops for the main course. There was chili mac, mac n cheese, black eyed peas, and boiled cabbage for the side options. For less than $9 you get an entree with two sides and a roll or corn bread. I got the fried chicken, chili mac, and cabbage. It all tastes fresh and homemade because that what it is, fresh and homemade. I could have made a meal on the chili mac and cabbage! ? This is food like my mom cooked, food that I grew up eating. There’s no frills or bells and whistles here. That because it’s not needed. Simple food, simply done right. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Atmosphere is simple, relaxed, and fun. If your tired of the same old cookie cutter big name restaurants here in Tyler then give this place a try. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Pastabilities – Menu with Prices – 1726 Battleground Ave, Greensboro

Absolutely one of my favorite places to go when I want good service, a good drink, AND a great meal! You really can’t go wrong. This place has affordable prices, heaping portions, and great atmosphere for a cute little date night or for a quick catch-up meal with friends, oh and did I mention the homemade desserts! Yummyyyyy!!! Pro Tips: For apps I’d say try the mozzarella-luna, essentially mozzarella sticks in the shape of half moons. I really am NOT a mozzarella stick girl, it’s just not my go-to app. But these I order them every time. It comes 3 per order, which honestly I could eat by myself. But of course, I’m nice enough to share. Lol. I’ve also had the calamari but it pales in comparison. I love the chicken parm which is a healthy portion of pasta along with 3 chicken tenders smothered in a marinara sauce. Delicious. I add the spicy spice to my order because I like a little heat! This entree also comes with a side salad! The sea caper for my seafood lovers is a great dish as well. It’s also served with a marinara sauce but it’s a lighter sauce, not as thick as the one that comes with the chicken parm. No side salad accompanied with this entree but all entrees come with a garlic roll. Desserts change depending on the season. In the summer the strawberry cake is deeeeelllllliiissshhh!! Homemade and finger licking good. It’s a large portion, you’ll have to share! Let’s talk alcohol! Try the Berry Blast, it’s a tequila mixed drink with, of course, berries. It sounds sweet but it’s not too sweet. Actually it’s kind of refreshing. Jarett hates fruity drinks and actually wished he would have ordered the Berry Blast! That’s all I have on this little gem that’s nestled in a shopping plaza on Battleground. Just go in, seat yourself at a table or pull up a seat at the bar. Grab a glass of wine or try the Berry Blast! Eat pasta! Eat dessert! Be happy!

Casa Della Mozzarella – Menu with Prices – 604 E 187th St, The Bronx

I went pretty far out of my way for some mozzarella from Casa, and I WOULD DO IT EVERY DAY IF I COULD. The mozzarella is THAT amazing! I am a mozzarella purist. I eat my mozzarella at room temperature, with a knife and fork, and I try to eat it within 1 day of purchasing. I love mozzarella so much, I spent several months trying to perfect my own recipe. I failed miserably at this, because I think you need to be pure magic to make mozzarella as good as Casa’s. So.. the mozzarella. It was stringy, soft, and juicy. It was perfectly salty. A true melt-in-your-mouth, eyes-roll-back-in-your-head experience. I also tried a sandwich, which was quite good. I had the “Casa”, which was prosciutto, mozzarella, peppers and balsamic sauce. The bread was excellent and super fresh also, but I was SO anxiously anticipating eating more of the straight mozzarella, I couldn’t fully enjoy it. I will dream about this mozzarella until I make it back to NY. For real.

Abridged Beer Company – Menu with Prices – 100 Lockett Rd, Knoxville

I tried this venue out tonight. Hidden off Kingston Pike right up Bearden Hill and just past Papermill. A cute space that has parking in the adjacent church parking lot. They must have something worked out as there is a trail that goes from the church parking lot to the Pub so a nice community thing. We arrived at 4:30 PM on a Saturday night and the place was two tables short of full. The tables outside were 1/2 full. Get there early on a Friday or Saturday. The ordering is done at the entrance. We had the Pot Roast Nachos, a 1/2 order of wings and the fried green tomato BLT. The Nachos were piping hot and came with homemade nachos and a lot of Pot Roast, cheese and Mexican Crema with a few jalapeños thrown in. The Nachos were crispy and the add ones were flavorful and spicy, the dish is big and well worth the price. The chicken wings were tasty but at $7.50 for 5 rather small wings not much bang for the buck. The big winner was the fried green tomato BLT it is honestly the best one I have ever had and I have had a great number over my years. The bread was crusty and fresh, the bacon is high end and the tomato tasted as if it was right off the vine. The sauce on the sandwich added just enough sweetness to make it work. The space was industrial chic. The service was excellent and there were a lot of beer choices. Highly recommended.
