In Denver for a specific event, I had to book an extra day, and wanted to be close to the airport for my super early flight. Unless you are staying at the Westin virtually inside the airport (Richie Rich!), then the Gateway Park area (technically located in Aurora) is your best option. There is a cluster of hotels here, with Aloft being a shining star, about a 15 min drive from the airport. I always enjoy Aloft. It’s really sleek, and generally affordable, all things considered. This location, I was particularly pleased with. I arrived and immediately noticed the vibrant, diverse and inclusive staff. The lobby looked like it could have used a touch up from the cleaning staff, but this was a minimal issue. I was asked if I wanted “lower or higher” – there are 5 floors – and I took higher, and was assigned room 421. It was everything I hoped for and expected from Aloft. The room had a good view facing the airport area, and was really convenient for dining. I walked down to the Applebee’s, and even that location was exceptional. Despite the chill, the walk was bearable, and I was really thankful that it was so close. I paid $96 for the night, and this place runs a free scheduled shuttle service to the airport, so that saved me a $20 Lyft fee! If you would like to take advantage of the shuttle you must sign up with the front desk, as it arrives at certain predetermined times. After my dinner at Applebee’s I went ahead and signed up for the 4:15AM shuttle for my 6AM flight. It worked out perfectly. After scheduling my shuttle I stepped over to the bar. Renee was a sweet young lady, and made a great drink. I sipped my drink, watched a rerun of The Masked Singer, and conversed with the fellow patrons a bit. It was really nice. You can take your bar drinks anywhere on the property, so I took it up to my room and enjoyed some TV. I charged my drink to the room, and it was quite easy. I was really happy with my choice in value, proximity to the airport and for the services provided. When in Denver I will absolutely book at Aloft Gateway Park again.

Hilton Fort Wayne at the Grand Wayne Convention Center – Menu with Prices – 1020 S Calhoun St, Fort Wayne

Stayed 5 days in January. I would return Pluses: * Friendly, helpful staff. Appreciated the complimentary room upgrade. * Modern rooms and hotel * Convenient downtown location adjacent to convention center * Usual comfy Hilton beds * Excellent Hilton breakfast with fresh orange juice, carafe of Starbucks coffee, bottled water, fresh berries, and eggs made to order at an omelet station. Alert: No buffet on Monday; order off the menu. Ask for cup for coffee take-away. Notice other reviewers griped about the food, but the breakfast is very good. * Corner deluxe room upgrade is spacious and worthwhile * Quiet room heating and cooling with digital controls * Convenient covered parking across street in public garage for $8 charged to room. Unlimited in-out privileges. Ticket stamped at front-desk. * Free airport shuttle, schedule unknown. Also available for local transport. Or, 20 mins/9 mile drive from airport. Small Gripes: * TV. Some channels worked intermittently * Daily log-in of Wi-Fi required for each device. Why the daily annoyance? * Despite being a loyal Diamond Member, would not extend my stay from 5 to 7 days…”we’re over-sold.” Tip: Two decent bars nearby as alternative to Hilton’s expensive bar: Champions Sports Bar and O’Reilly’s Irish Pub, both very close…unless 2 degrees outside or snowing ? Tip II: Upon arrival, I had to park out front, and go inside to ask the front desk about parking. Hotel parking is not marked. Simply pull into public garage across the street and the front desk will stamp your ticket. Park near exit booth for convenient walk to hotel lobby.

Hyatt Place Denver Airport Menu with Prices 16250 E 40th Ave, Aurora

Disclaimer: I frequent Hyatt Place hotels and have historically been a satisfied and repeat customer when traveling. Thus, I know the level of quality a Hyatt Place is capable of. I hate sharing negative experiences in my reviews but my experience at this hotel was “inconvenient”. You may read this word a few times. It definitely could have been worse so let me start with positives. The heater in my room worked good, the shower water was hot, I had enough towels for my one-night stay, the room appeared clean, and the front-desk staff were friendly and appeared to do their best with what they had to work with. On the night I stayed and in the room I was provided, the issues encountered were as follows: minimal and poor location of electrical outlets. It was a good thing I make a habit of packing a power strip when traveling because I needed the outlets as well as the extended length to meet my needs. Other guests will just be out of luck. The bathroom is tiny with about a one-inch clearance between the toilet and the door when opening and closing the bathroom door. It may take some creative squeezing for big-boned guests or families that need to help care for another. (Note: I can’t say if this is an issue in other rooms.) The in-room alarm clock wouldn’t set (the clock did work though) and I needed to be up at 3am. Again, inconvenient for my needs as a guest. The door to the room required multiple attempts to close for the lock to catch which impacted my personal sense of safety when in and out of my room. (Note: I can’t say if this is an issue in other rooms.) The in-room phone and TV didn’t work which I was told may be related to a brief and unexpected power outage earlier that day that the hotel was not effectively recovering from technology wise. Same issue with the business center. The 2 computers were working with internet but to this day I still have no idea where my boarding passes printed out to. Staff couldn’t find them either…sigh. At check in, I was told breakfast items would be available starting at 3:30am for early morning travelers. Nope. I had wanted to turn in my rental car the night before my early morning flight and take advantage of the hotel’s airport shuttle service but staff could not guarantee I would make it to the airport on time dependent on road conditions. This is freakin’ Colorado. Don’t you prepare for “road conditions”? It was an expected 1 1/2 inches of snow overnight. It wasn’t a blizzard. Just sayin’. I’m a native Floridian who is not experienced in driving in snow. It was 60 degrees my whole trip until this night. I was really counting on this marketed shuttle service…which I couldn’t use…because it might not happen. Inconvenient! The list actually does go on but I’ll stop there for the purpose of this review as these are the top things that may or may not impact other guests. I would never dissuade a potential consumer from an establishment and I am not intentionally doing that with this review. As noted in the beginning, the basics are covered. When you’re ready to call it a day, you’ll have a warm place to sleep and a hot shower. Sometimes, that’s all you need. FYI: Although this hotel has the word “Airport” in the name, it is still a 10-minute highway drive to the rental car corridor and airport. Front desk staff informed me there is a Hyatt House closer to the airport but I cannot personally comment on the Hyatt House establishment as I have not been there.

QDOBA Mexican Eats – Menu with Prices – Concourse B, 8500 Peña Blvd, Denver

I have to say I have very bad experiences when it comes to customer service at the airport. As a flight attendant I see the worst of the worst. However these employees were amazing! I first came in contact with Anna. I watched her as she talked to each customer welcoming them and being super friendly. I was a little caught off guard and though maybe she’s a happy person. However all three employees were amazing. All cheerful, very helpful, and extremely caring. Beyond any place I have been to. Even outside of the airport. They truly deserve some recognition! This will be the spot I eat for now on when I come to Denver airport! Kudos to QDOBA for hiring some amazing people!

Seasons Florida Resort – Menu with Prices – 4736 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee

Checked this place out during my stay in Florida. It had seemingly ok reviews, an affordable price, and it was close to the amusement parks. Checked into my room and was immediately greeted by a fairly large cockroach. I’m glad the place hired the welcoming committee. Also, the room smelled like cigarette smoke. A double whammy right from the start. While using the bathroom, I noticed small droppings on the floor. Just keeps getting better and better. The hand towel was also adorned in the same type of droppings. Honestly, best first impression yet. Immediately went to the front desk, told them about the various in house amenities. Said it wasn’t nice/rat droppings, most likely lizards. Alright, lizards. Switched us to another room. The bathroom door was warped, couldn’t close properly without using adamant force. Hey, if strong arming a door meant I didn’t have to step on poop and cockroaches, I’m all for the door. The only reasons I picked this place was because they said they shuttle to ALL THEME PARKS. I called months in advance. Turns out, the only Disney park they shuttle to is Epcott. Throughout our stay, despite not putting the “maid service” tag on the door, the maids would work in anyways. Please, anyone reading this, don’t come here. Don’t try to save money. Go somewhere else, this place is terrible

Holiday Inn Burbank-Media Center – Menu with Prices – 150 E Angeleno Ave, Burbank

Stayed here while taking a weekend for a Dodger/Yankee game – our first time in this area. We are IHG members and my husband chose this location because it’s very close to Burbank airport and Dodger Stadium. The hotel has a 24/7 shuttle – so if you fly into Burbank airport – just give them a call when you land and they’ll collect you at the shuttle stand – very convenient! We did not rent a car – so this is a big PLUS! The hotel is very nice! There are a lot of meeting spaces and a large lounge area and breakfast area. They have happy hour and karaoke – if that’s your sort of thing. The breakfast buffet is pricey at about $20/person but has a nice selection! The fruit was perfect and the staff are friendly and extremely attentive! I have to mention that we ordered room service late on a Sunday – BLT wrap w/fries, buffalo wings and chicken tenders – and this food was WAY BETTER than most of the surrounding places we walked to for lunch/dinner while we were here! Food was fresh and delicious! The wait time was probably about 10-15 minutes, including delivery time to our door! The room we stayed in was very big with a refrigerator, microwave and large sitting area. Super comfy beds and LOVE the pillows! I got VERY good sleep here! The gift shop has SMART Water in the gift shop that is vapor distilled and can be used for your CPAP machines!! The surrounding area has a lot of restaurants, shops and a movie theater. There is a shopping mall fairly close by – about 15min walk. Closest drug store is about a mile away (for those of you who like to buy bottled water, drinks or snacks for the room). If we are ever in town again for a game or to do some tourist things (Universal Studios/Warner Bros or another game) – I would HIGHLY recommend this location!

Embassy Suites by Hilton Denver Stapleton – Menu with Prices – 4444 North, Havana St, Denver

I came to Denver for business and vacation; this is the hotel that my colleague picked for us to stay, I stayed here a week. I was taken back to the location, generally I like to pick a hotel in town, close to restaurants and stores, but the location was close to work and 2 of my colleagues were also staying here, so it was easier to stay at the same location. Driving to this hotel at night, by yourself, will make you wonder what part of town you are in! I generally stay at the Hilton, this is only the 2nd Embassy Suites I have stayed at, so I have a lot of comments: * I arrived after 6:30 pm, so checking in took awhile. There were 2 other people in front of me, there were 2 people behind the desk, but it appeared that they were working together, not separately. I am a Hilton Honors member, so I was surprised that I was not given 2 bottles of water when I checked in. I thought maybe they’d be in the room, so I didn’t say anything. Afterwards, when I saw the bottled water in the room for $3, I called the desk to inquire. The gentleman apologized and said it must have been an oversight (my colleague, also a Hilton Honors member, did not receive the 2 bottles of water either), but he sent 2 bottles of water up right away. * The breakfast buffet is awesome, each morning, the chefs were friendly and orders were accurate. It’s nice to have friendly people working with you first thing in the morning. Each morning, they were always cheery and friendly, very welcoming! * The evening receptions were also nice, the bartenders here were much friendlier than the ones at the regular bar. I was not sure what I wanted to drink, so I asked the bartender to fix me something sweet, he gave me a “Colorado Sunset”, which was a fantastic drink! I assume that weekends, the evening reception is at the regular bar, so Friday night, I went to the bar and asked if they could make me a “Colorado sunset” (a drink the evening reception bartender had made for me several times that week), but he just looked at me like I was crazy and said no. He did not ask me if I wanted anything else, he just stood there looking at me! Big difference from the bartenders running the evening reception all week — they were nice, friendly, and helpful, they acted like they wanted to be there to serve the customers! Needless to say, I did NOT go to the bar again, so I lost out on my evening cocktail. * The heat in my room had a mind of its own. One minute it was blowing out cold air, the next moment, it was blowing out cold air, even though I made sure that it was set to heat. The 2nd day, I called down to the desk to ask them to look at it while I was gone. It never changed, I had the heat set to 78, it started out hot air, I jumped in the shower, when I got out, it was blowing out cold air! Again, I asked them to take a look at it, but it did not change. I was already settled in the room, so I did not want to have to lug everything into a new room, so I just dealt with it. * The room always felt stuffy to me, I had to crack my door every day just to get some air moving thru the room. This is the first hotel that I have ever felt the stuffiness, so I’m not sure what the issue is with circulating air. * In this technological age, more outlets should be available. I had to switch devices just to get both laptops, both cell phones and other devices charged. When I plugged in both cellphones into the lamps, the lights flickered, so that wasn’t an option! * Elevators were really slow, like it would be quicker to take the stairs, not sure why the elevators ran slow as turtles, but it was a slight aggravation. * Checkout was horrible … there was 1 person behind the counter, 1 person was at the desk, a couple was in front of me. I waited 10 minutes, and finally just left. I called the hotel later to let them know to please check me out, and email my final bill. All that said, I am not sure if I would stay at this location again. When I return to Denver, I am certain I will find a location

Hyatt Regency Lexington – Menu with Prices – 401 W High St, Lexington

Was in Lexington for a wedding and this was one of two hotels that we had blocks in. The location is amazing, pretty central to everything and right at the Rupp Arena (in fact, they’re attached). The room was big, the bathroom was nice, there’s a bar/restaurant on the first floor, as well as a gym and pool! I was at that gym 3x during my stay, and it was never too busy. In fact, I had it to my self a few times. They have a dual cable machine, a single adjustable bench, and dumbbells going up to 50lbs or so. They provide towels and there’s a water cooler. As far as hotel gyms go, not bad at all. My main complaints about this hotel: 1) I called a week before to arrange a hotel shuttle from the airport. They told me to just call back the day of when I land. Simple enough. But their whole automated phone system is STUPID. Takes forever and the options are confusing (it keeps asking for an extension). And when I got through, nobody picked up, and I had to call back about 4-5x while I was at the airport. Thankfully, getting the free shuttle back to the airport was painless (just tell them your name and what time and they’ll arrange it for you). 2) The room’s seen better days. Kinda dusty in some parts, and some of the fixtures in the bathroom (like the faucets) looked like they were coming out of the wall. The “smart” TV was incredibly dumb. It would start up on random screens or the home screen for the hotel, where most of the buttons didn’t work. And the remote was very unresponsive, making the whole experience annoying. 3) They don’t provide you with any amenities, but will provide them to you if you call down to reception. I figured they’d leave slippers, toothpaste, etc. in the room, but I had to call them. I gave them a list of about 10 things, and they said they’d send housekeeping. 15 minutes later, I get a knock on my door, and one lady on the staff gives me one of my 10 items. Then 5 minutes later, she apologizes and gives me another one. This happened 3-4 times, and by the end of it, I only had about 75% of what I asked for, but luckily it was the major things. Other than that, you can’t beat the convenience and the location!

Augusta Regional Airport Menu with Prices 1501 Aviation Way, Augusta

You definitely don’t need to get here early for your flight. This is a small, quaint airport that is an easy in and out, but there are 0 amenities. The airport only has 2 real gates sections that are across from each other and you board from the runway. The place probably deserves 5 stars except for the fact that almost none of the staff is friendly and this is my 3rd trip here. They’re not mean, they just look and act like they hate their jobs and us passengers are a thorn in their proverbial side. Although, Michael at the ticket counter for Delta was funny, helpful, smiling and definitely deserves 5 stars. I would say it’s a Delta thing but his female coworker at the counter was just as disinterested in helping people as the rest of the Augusta Airport staff… Side note: our flight crew looked, acted and just plain sounded like they slept in their trunks after partying all night. Should be an interesting flight…

4th Street Vine – Menu with Prices – 4100 Donald Douglas Dr, Long Beach

I’ve been plenty to of airports all over the world and have a fairly realistic and reasonable expectation of food & drink establishment in airports. This place is subpar on all aspects to put it gently. Pros: Granted, they’re in a good location right by many gates and LB airport is small so you’ll not miss your flight being here. Another plus is the roomy, lovely outdoor seating area. Nice looking bar with a decent selection of wine. Cons: Our group of 4 adults grabbed a table out in the patio. As soon as we sat down, a server came up and said in a pretty unfriendly tone that they didn’t serve food there. It was a bit puzzling since 1/ There was absolutely no welcoming/ greetings 2/ We came here because we wanted a drink; we were fully aware that this is not a restaurant 3/ I understand that there’s a small food menu, so maybe if you wanted to inform your customers about food not being served at the moment, do it in a less hostile way? We ordered 3 items: 2 beer on tap ($12.99 per each) and 1 Bloody Mary ($15.99). Understandably, airport pricing would be higher than outside, but $12.99 for tap beer is a bit outrageous. On top of all that, the server’s unfriendly attitude made me regret my money spent there even more. 2 stars however for the good bloody mary. Honestly, take your money elsewhere where you feel appreciated.

Aloft Columbia Downtown – Menu with Prices – 823 Lady St, Columbia

I had occasion to stay at my first Aloft property on a recent trip to Columbia, SC. I was blown away. Check in was quick, efficient, and really friendly. And I was stunned by the stylish, yet somehow casual, lobby. The space gleamed with streamlined, stainless-steel bar stools, and fun accent lighting. Comfortable accents like a pool table and counter-height tables and chairs, gave a nice counterpoint. My room continued the theme, with minimalist, elegant, decor organizing so much functionality into the room, without it seeming crowded. There were MANY USB ports in the night stand and desk, ready to charge with just a cord — no adapter needed. Drawer and closet space were integrated into a spacious bathroom wall, and the coffee station was inset into that same line of site. I have nothing but praise in the normal function and service categories I look for in a hotel, but I have to say, the real win form me here was just being in such a fun environment for my stay. Well done, Aloft. See you again, soon.

Waco Regional Airport – Menu with Prices – 7909 Karl May Dr, Waco

What a hidden gem to for the Waco community. Honestly, I think it is a little under utilized by the city and the college community. We went on a college visit to Baylor and flew out of the Waco Regional Airport. Honestly I think the tickets were an extra 50-75 dollars, which for the convenience of not having to drive to DFW and mess with the lines is a steal (it is about an hour 45 minute drive to DFW). Things that would be helpful to know if you are flying out of this airport. If you have the first morning flight (5 am American) there is not going to be anyone there until about 4:30. Not knowing what to expect the teenager and I got there at 4. The security officer did unlock the door but the counter did not open until about 4:30. There is nothing open at that time inside the airport for food and drink options other than a vending machine. The airport was small but clean and efficiently run. The same person who checked us in at the counter -swiped our tickets getting on the plane (teenager found this refreshingly humorous). You take your bag over to a room that TSA has to the side of the counter and TSA takes your bag from you. Very convenient airport to use and if our son ever decided to attend Baylor we would definitely use it as our first option.

Aloft Frisco – Menu with Prices – 3202 Parkwood Blvd, Frisco

By far, one of the best extended stays that I have ever had at a hotel. I’ve never stayed at an Aloft Hotel before and let me just say that I was blown away by the service. I was in Dallas, TX for a couple of weeks for work and Aloft made my stay very comfortable. The front desk receptionists were all very friendly and welcoming. There were times where I was wanting to purchase some travel items and as expected there was a few minutes of wait because people needed to check-in for their reservations, because I had to wait when it came to pay for my items the receptionist comp’d my items. They didn’t have to do that! So nice. The rooms are very modern with a flare that will appeal most to the younger crowd. The beds were comfy with an abundance of pillows to cuddle with. The bathroom was very clean, with a walk-in shower and a floor to seeing window looking into the bedroom.. HOT. SEXY. FUUUUUU.. ? All the bath products were ‘Bliss’ branded and left your body smelling so so good and skin left silky smooth and soft. There is a fridge setup under the bathroom sink, if you plan to use it make sure it is plugged in when you arrive otherwise you will have to wait for it to cool. Ironing boards and an iron are provided along with a dirty laundry bag. Full bar service is available on the main lobby floor. Swimming pool is also there for use but no whirlpool/Jacuzzi sadly. There is no room service available however in the mornings there is a breakfast bar with light snacks available for purchase. After my experience at the Aloft, I’ll definitely consider them as a new option when traveling.
