I didn’t take the best pictures this time as I was hungry LOL. Overall it was a decent experience the menu to me seem very simple kind of like in and out burgers. Their prices compared to other places are identical I chose to try there trompo tacos also which I did not take a picture of but they are well-served for $1. Depending on the amount of people there service could take a while but before going in I never expected Quick Service as this is a smaller place compared to some of the others I have been. Only suggestion I could make is that they need better lighting as many people including myself before would pass up the place because there is not enough significant lighting so you can’t really tell if it’s open or not.

Garden State Cafeteria – Menu with Prices – Terminal Access Rd, Newark

Ordered the Cajun Grilled Chicken Platter when I was waiting on a long connection at Terminal C for my international flight. It costs $17.95 and is one of the Diners Dinner Specials listed on their menu. This place is one of the few or maybe the only one that has the wait staff take your order as compared to the automated tablet experience in most or almost all of the other restaurants in Newark airport (the OTG experience). So there’s a personal touch to your dining experience unless the wait staff who attends to you isn’t pleasantly behaving. The ambience itself was typical diner-ish with bright red and white colors around…open style kitchen and no doors, so you can sit and eat while watching the passers by walk around. The food takes the crown here – I went in with not much expectations considering it’s airport food but the quality surprised me. Two tender, perfectly cooked, juicy chicken breasts grilled fresh and rubbed in the cajun seasoning (not red but that dark seasoning color you get on grilling the meat), not too spicy but just the right amount of heat which bursts with the juiciness of the chicken and the grill flavors all working their magic together….Yumm…my server did tell me beforehand that they were out of mashed potatoes already (and it is a dinner at 4:30 pm ordering a diner dinner special from their menu), so that’s a surprise and they should work on that since it is an airport restaurant and expected to cater to people arriving anytime. Not that I was looking forward to having mashed potatoes, but I was okay with my sides of french fries and steamed mixed vegetables. Fries were decent and smaller portioned as compared to majority of the diners in the country, but it is not a deal breaker for me. For some people, they may get disappointed with the portion of their fries. But the chicken portion makes up for it with two large breasts – so juicy, tender, perfectly cooked. The vegetables I got were the green beans and carrots (thinly sliced). They were okay…a particular bunch of the green beans still had their steams on..and I am picky about it…so that’s another reason for not having a 5 star rating in addition to the mashed potatoes one. Suggestion: Keep up the quality of the food, service is decent, people will make this a popular option for an airport restaurant. But don’t run of your sides please…being in an international airport it doesn’t sounds well considering you are open for 17 hours a day & should expect people to stop by for dining at any of these hours.

Roux Speakeasy – Menu with Prices – 124 Strawberry Alley, Clarksville

Right upstairs from Inside Roux. You can also get in from the door on strawberry alley (the street, in case you’re confused). The space is crazy smaller compared to the actual restaurant which historically that’s pretty accurate to how speakeasies actually we’re. We probably should have chilled out by the bar to get closer to the bartender and get faster service but it’s ok because it gave us more time to talk. Now because it is a smaller space it was significantly louder. At least for us because everyone sits pretty close together. I believe you can still order from the restaurant as the couple near us did have food but I feel like it’s more of the appetizers that you can get in the speakeasy? I am not entirely sure. The place itself seemed pretty clean but because it is smaller I’m not sure I would make my way over here again just to go to the speakeasy.

Chilacates South End – Menu with Prices – 275 Shawmut Ave, Boston

This is a grab n go (or dine there) but its self service and the seating is limited, so its not ideal for large groups (4+). But the food was yummy! My friends got the taco plates, generous serving size, my bf got the burrito, packed beautifully so it didn’t crumble as you bite into it. The al pastor (pork) was delicious, slightly fatty in all the right places. I love me a good quesadilla so I went with their suggestion of the chicken, and boy was that not a wrong suggestion! The meat was so juicy and packed with flavors and I just loved that they stuffed the quesadilla with so much cheese! I even got guac too – they have some selection of hot sauce on the tables as well as their own homemade one – which, in my opinion, not that spicy. Overall, great quick Mexican food, the line can get a bit long, but they are relatively quick with the food prep after you order. I love that there is outdoor seating, so I will definitely be back when I have a Mexican food craving and Chipotle or Qdoba just doesn’t cut it.

Wing’s Daily – Menu with Prices – 2224 Madison Ave, Montgomery

I tend to not make reviews for a multitude of reasons, but my experience with this place was so terrible I had to make an account to warn others. This place looks like a “mom n pop” style fast food service, so I expected relatively quick service from a group of people who have an investment in the company succeeding. What I got was bland, dry chicken that I could hardly eat two pieces of. Additionally, the cashiers were overtly rude to me (I never argue with service workers because I know they deal with crap all day, so I guarantee it wasn’t me) and one of them was wearing jeans with massive holes in the thigh region (I’m certain this is good fashion but very unprofessional). The only aspect of this location remotely worth praise was their peach-aid which tasted good, but had so much sugar I still couldn’t finish a cup. Now I’m out $10 and looking for another place to eat. Also it took a long time to get this trash they pass off as food.

Manatee Performing Arts Center – Menu with Prices – 502 3rd Ave W, Bradenton

Visually, this space is five stars. This theatre is beautiful! Both the interior and exterior have that old feel of Broadway luxury with the upgrades of modern theatres thrown in. The Stone Hall (Main Stage Theatre) is a standard proscenium set up. The seating is very nice. The seats are large and comfortable. I sat in the back row, where sightlines were not an issue, and they have ample space in front of them so that you don’t even to stand to let someone pass. A big bonus! The sound booth is situated house left, towards the back, but still in front of a few of the rows of seats. It isn’t a sightline issue, but while watching “A Chorus Line,” where there seemed to be an inordinate amount of sound issues, I found myself a bit distracted by the amount of activity over there. The sound issues cost them half a star. Perhaps the sound is usually very good, but when you are billed as a Performing Arts Center and one of your main offerings is what you bring to your stage and share with your audience, the lighting and sound are inextricably linked to the overall experience. Some of the mics were too hot and offered feedback and some seemed turned off completely. The other half of a star was lost because of the parking. Such a large and elegant theatre space, I think the parking lot should match. Parking seems to be a crucial detail often forgotten. If you want to attract new people to your space, you need to make it easy to get there. Bradenton is a smaller city, and there is more than enough surrounding area to pave, but the MPAC has opted to leave it grass and dirt. I came on a particularly rainy evening, pulled my car into the “lot” and was greeted with mud on my nice shoes. They do offer a valet service, but the walk from the “parking lot” to the theatre is short, the valet service waiting line was rather long, and I don’t see the necessity to charge me to park when the ticket price itself was near 30.00. Overall, a great experience. I would return, but not on a rainy evening.

Crossroads Hotel – Menu with Prices – 2101 Central St, Kansas City

I had arrived fairly early in the morning and only expected to store my luggage before heading out to the office for an afternoon of meetings. Instead, not only was the friendly receptionist able to check me in early but also able to accommodate a request for a room facing outside; I was warned that depending on the day, a room facing the inside might be noisy. The hotel is located in the Crossroads Arts District, in a former bottling and distribution center for Pabst Brewery. It is a smaller, more intimate hotel, beautifully designed to take into account the existing structure and surrounding neighborhood. The lobby is four stories high, clad in both wood and brick, with industrial lighting layered throughout the space. At the front, there is a large bar and lounge area with comfortable and casual seating. It is a place to have a drink, strike up a conversation, or play a game of backgammon. Alas, none of us knew how to play. There is also a roof-top bar that was perfect for warm and lazy summer evenings. For my Detroit peeps, this hotel is owned by the same people who own the Foundation Hotel, Aparium Hotel Group, home of the lovely Apparatus Room restaurant. The room itself is spacious: large bed with tall posts, mid-sized sofa and cocktail table, and a chair/table by the corner for work. It also has high ceilings, contributing to an overall sense of space. The bathroom featured sculpted hardware and lighting, an eye-catching shower stall, a sliding bathroom door, and concrete floors. It was clean and pristine, unsurprising since it had just recently opened. For once, I was tempted to raid the mini bar (but did not because… willpower), there were local treats including Christopher Elbow chocolates and barbecue almonds. Incidentally, the shampoo/conditioner here had a lovely herbal scent. Service was exceptional. Everyone was friendly and helpful, courteous and welcoming.

Barnes & Noble – Menu with Prices – Mosaic District, 2921 District Ave Suite 180, Fairfax

I have gone to this new Barnes and Noble several times since it opened, including being there when they opened their doors for the first time! I was so excited that the Mosaic District was finally getting a bookstore! The store is basically a mini version of their “regular-sized” stores. For instance, it’s significantly smaller than the one at Tyson’s. However, it does manage to have most departments, just on a smaller level! There is a café here too, with a few tables on the inside and some more on the outside. When I first came, they were mostly just serving cookies and scones. Now they have added many more interesting items, including quiche and croissants, so that’s great to see! They even had a pumpkin scone, which I will definitely be getting during my next visit! The staff here are all friendly and eager to help. They close at 7:00 pm on Sundays and 9:00 pm every other day, so their hours are slightly reduced from other locations. I would love to see them open until later someday, since they are the perfect place to browse through and get a small bite in the evening. Of course, their big challenge continues to be staying afloat in the era of Amazon. It’s so hard for them to compete with their prices and selection. For instance, I tried to purchase some books from them that my daughter needed for school. Unfortunately, they didn’t have them (and I was told they couldn’t get them from their warehouse) but, of course, I was able to find them on Amazon. They do host book clubs and other special events, so those are great advantages they have over online stores. They also have a nice selection of magazines (though much smaller than their other stores). I am looking forward to seeing how successful this new concept of small stores turns out to be. As with the smaller concept stores of Walmart and Target, I find them quite limiting and often challenging to find what I’m looking for. But they are better than nothing! I am certainly hoping they will succeed!

Chef Ami – Fresh Ingredients & Recipes Delivered – Menu with Prices – 4101 NW 6th St Ste. B-1, Gainesville

I absolutely love Chef Ami; not just the food but also the customer service, website, and overall user experience. Every time I have provided a comment or suggestion, or if I have had a question, they have been quick to reply and help me out. The food is phenomenal, and I have learned a lot from cooking the various recipes, including how to prepare foods that I had never tried before. I even found ways to enjoy things I thought I didn’t like (arugula) and I am very appreciative of that. I really enjoy the variety, and the fact that I don’t have to worry about the whole “what’s for dinner” question. The portions are also really good, which is great for someone who is watching what they are eating. The food is always very fresh, too, and I am happy to know how much of their packaging is recycled. Overall, this is an amazing local company that I am proud to support.

Micheladas Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 803 Powder Springs St suite #2, Marietta

This is a fantastic Mexican restaurant. Unlike most of the taquerias in the area, there’s a full menu, not just tacos, tortas and burritos. All of the above are on the menu, but then there’s a whole variety of traditional Mexican dishes to choose from as well. Additionally, they do have an American Mexican section for those who lean more Tex-Mex. I’ve been to Michelada’s six times now and it’s never disappointed. The food is fantastic. Dishes are made with fresh ingredients, including their salsa and two additional hot sauces. My recommendation would be the Costillas de Puerco in verde sauce. These little pieces of pork ribs fall off the bone with and the verde sauce is great. The crusher with this meal are the homemade tortillas. They’re so good and you have have option of having these tortillas with any of the tacos you order. The owner and his staff are awesome. They’re super friendly, happy to talk to you about their food and they have a full bar, another thing that sets them apart from most taquerias. And yes, you can get a completely slammin’ Michelada here. If you do like more Tex-Mex food their selections are great as well. Overall, this restaurant is a huge addition to Cobb County. We have a lot of fantastic taqueria food in the area, so it’s not easy to compete. I pass 10 Mexican places I love to get to Micheladas, so it’s pretty impressive that they beat out most all of them. Give Michelada’s a try, and if you’re with you partner/significant other, sit at the bar and make new friends. The guests here are awesome, like to throw back some beers, and are open to meeting new people.

The Open Bottle – Menu with Prices – 7061 Hwy 72 W, Huntsville

A great addition to west Huntsville / near Providence area, the Open Bottle is very similar in style, service and products as their sister store Liquor Express. It’s a package store and craft beer bar combine into one with a small division to separate the two. Compared to liquor express, it seems like the Open Bottle has much more to offer in terms of their package store products. A larger variety of liquors (it seems, although could be similar) plus the comparable amount of wines, port, beer, etc… available to purchase and take away. The draft beer list seems to be much smaller than Liquor Express, although it’s hard to compare given the ~100 at Liquor Express. The beer list is available on a double sided sheet of paper and contains good options in both international, national and domestic. What I particularly like about this location is the large outdoor seating area with space heaters. I know I’ll have to come back once it warms up to enjoy that space. Maybe in the future they could lay out some cornhole or bocce courts for casual gaming fun? Inside decor is pretty nice and spacious, I’ll have to get more pics the next time I visit. Replying to another review – service seems to be at the bar only, but they do have plenty of table seating for larger groups. No food options that I saw, so be sure to come full but ready for good drinks.

Las Maria’s – Menu with Prices – 4801 Outer Loop Outer Loop, Louisville

Quick serve Mexican establishment located in the Jefferson mall similar to a Qdoba style where to choose burritos, quesadillas, etc and they dress and prepare in front of you (like subways). The prices are kinda on the higher end. $9-10 for a burrito and soda. The burrito is a solid size. But compared to other establishments In that same mall food court the cost and quantity is lacking. Flavor actually isn’t bad at all. I got the queso chicken burrito and it was very soft and the cheese was almost cream like. Honestly didn’t need a knife to cut it. I will give them credit as it is a different tasting burrito compared to similar quick service Mexican places like qdoba, moe’s and chipotle. Not necessarily a better taste. Just different. Sometimes those other 3 establishments can kinda run together when it comes to taste.

The Joint St. Pete – Menu with Prices – 7600-7630 34th Ave N, St. Petersburg

On advice from a couple at the ‘pool’ we went to THE JOINT ST. PETE. in St. Petersburg, Fl yesterday, late afternoon. Well…not to go on and on, but this place is wonderful. It is not what we expected in terms of aesthetics, nor was it what we would have expected even from their website (smaller), but it proved to be a very viable place for 2 hungry folks!! We ordered the wings as an appetizer and were not one bit disappointed. Done crispy with just the right heat in the medium sauce. We got honey BBQ on the side to dip if we felt like a little sweet with our spicy. My husband ordered the burger with no cheese and it was perfect for him…the portion was significant…the fries done to perfection. I ordered the daily special which was Chicken Parm….perfect….I am a big eater as a rule, but had to bring half of it home (ordering the wings probably did not help!!) as it was huge….We browsed the menu and there are a bunch of delectable s on it. If each and every dish is up to the standard that our food was, there should be no complaints providing you have ordered within your taste. The prices are so low, but don’t tell anyone…that is the way they go up!! So, on our tour down here for three months (opposite to snow bird style) we will, I bet, have an opportunity to visit at least 4 or 5 more times trying a different food item to our taste….Don’t miss out on this place. Kudo’s to the great girl that served us. She works days steadily and she is wonderful…..we heard that staff stays, sometimes for years!! And when staff stays and they are busy, you know you will have a great chance to have the freshest of food as they can put out….do yourself a favour if you are in this area and see this review…..
