Stopped in here with some friends, and I am so so so happy we did. It’s a nice, quiet beer only pub that reminds me of home. When I say home, I don’t mean Ireland, I mean Portland, Oregon. haha Lots of places like this back home, with owners that truly care about what they are selling, and an environment that is unpretentious, and very welcoming. Murphy’s on tap? Yes please! Got to talkin with the owner as well as other patrons, and I’ll definitely go back again, even by myself in case a book and a beer sound like a plan. Please give them a try, and if you’re looking for a nice quiet place to enjoy a drink and some conversation, you’ll be very pleased!

Gold Rail Bar – Menu with Prices – 1114 N Pacific Ave, Glendale

OMG!!! My husband grew up in Glendale in the 50’s-70’s and had always said this place was a “dive bar”….NOT ANYMORE!! This place is awesome with 24 beer taps, 2 taps on Nitro, 2 wine taps! The part owner is very nice and very friendly (personality plus), which in my book is extra special! Came in for one beer each and ended up staying for two more beers each and a shot of tequila (which was an added surprise)! It was a very quiet night for a Tuesday (which is okay), hopefully more people will come in and check this place out! It’s a great place to hang out and talk about beer, tequila and growing up in Glendale!

Maidens Brewery – Menu with Prices – 209 N Wabash Ave of Flags, Evansville

I truly don’t even know what to say about this amazing brewery & pub. The atmosphere here is great, it’s a small looking place off Franklin in the heart of Evansville featuring a nice bar, great room upstairs & cute patio space. The workers are all very friendly. The selection of Beer is constantly changing- a while back they even had a beer that was featuring GRIPPOS! The owner of the business even comes out to socialize with the patrons. They sell tasters of the beer for $1 each & crawlers to take home. Three crawlers gives you a free custom koozie to bring home. The crawlers are canned right in front of you at the bar. I highly recommend this place for people of all ages!

Gary RoadHouse – Menu with Prices – 1401 E Gary Rd, Lakeland

First visit for karaoke on Wednesday and fell in love! Karoke system and sound is excellent. Tried a variety of food offerings and all were delicious as well as reasonably priced. Draft beer is ice cold. Owner/Operators are friendly, welcoming, knowledgeable and fun. Bar offers several dart stations, pool table, and a large patio and outdoor area for live music. Parking is well lit. Bathrooms exceptionally clean. Wonderful mix of patrons. Gary Roadhouse is sure to be a hit and we will be back regularly.

Cabin Fever – Menu with Prices – 1669 Bloor St W, Toronto

Not sure why this place has such a good rating, with so many coffee shops in the area (in the junction, bloor west, roncesvalles)  there’s no way a “coffee shop” should have a 4.5 star rating with NO WIFI IMHO. These days, it’s a basic offering. Maybe I should have been tipped off by the empty Cafe w the exception of one lady getting a to-go cup and someone drinking a beer at the bar. I came here at 3pm. These were my observations in the 30 mins I was there: – LOUD: the music is loud here, so much so that the staff and patrons at the bar drinking beer are all screaming to talk over each other. To me it was car-stereo-blazing loud. – NO wifi. Go be productive elsewhere.  – NO menu anywhere, so you’re stuck having this conversation: C: so what do you have here? Barista: Everything. C: Oh ok, do you have hot chocolate? B: No. C: Do you have decaf coffee here? B: No. C: Can you do a chai latte? B: No, sorry. C: uh OK so what do you serve here? B: Brew coffee, Americanos, caffeinated teas… Righttt so not “everything”. I was looking for something decaf but nothing was avail. Without a menu, not only do you now know what is available, you don’t know how much things cost. FYI a cup of brew coffee is $2.  Hubby said it was decent and gave it a 7/10. Oh, And you’ll also have to ask the barista for the cream.  Depending on what you want to do in a coffee shop (or bar in this case), it may be helpful to know that the lighting is dim here and provided entirely by Edison light bulbs. So unless you score one of the two two-seater tables by the window, it might be difficult to read a book or do paperwork here. Good aspects: – music selection was decent  – appears to turn into a bar in the evening;  has pin ball machines and sells records  – has beers on tap. – staff was nice enough, not her fault they don’t serve anything decaf or lack wifi In the end, this is definitely more of a social bar setting rather than a quiet catch up with your friend or getting work done environment which is what I was looking for at the time. I just wanted to try out a new place and wandered in.

Pockets Billiards LLC – Menu with Prices – 10539 Jefferson Ave, Newport News

We went on a Wednesday. It was nice, clean, and quiet. The manager (owner) had Unsolved Mysteries and C.O.P.S. on the telly and I was glad there was no music blaring. My husband checked out the jukebox but he didn’t select anything to play so I have no idea how the sound system sounds. They have bar tables and the larger 9 ft(?) tables. There’s no bar here so don’t go thinking you’re going to have a few beers, get some cheese sticks, and play a few games. Personally, I loved it and I hope we get to go again soon.

Grind House Barrio Logan – Menu with Prices – 2163 Logan Ave, San Diego

They have a nice tap list but they didn’t happen to have a filtered west coast ipa when I stopped by in the day time. Nice vibe, music and decor . Anyways, the thing that mattered was that the owner heard me asking about the beers and he directed the bar tender to provide a sample of a beer that was new to me. It was a spot on recommendation. Staff and POS system need to get some things worked out, (I was unable to turn of the sound of the buzzer when my food was ready at the food window and the buzzer was somewhat loud) but I nit pick. This a small, chill place, nice crowd and plenty of quality beer on tap. And they have a full espresso machine and kitchen.

Muddy Water Kava – Menu with Prices – 6111 10th St N, St. Petersburg

If you want to visit the dirtiest place in the St. Pete/Pinellas Park area, go here. For starters, the majority of who I would assume to be their “regulars” are middle-aged druggies who ask strangers “Aye where you headed? Oh that’s near me, can you take me home?” Or “Yo I heard you talkin about heading to Hatters, can you drop me too?” Absolutely ridiculous. Secondly, the owner, who I believe is named Brian, sits out in his car and smokes weed before entering the building. Saw that with my own eyes a couple times. I have also seen costumers smoke out back. I am not new to the kava bar scene, and typically visiting such places is nice because they have a warm and inviting atmosphere. Although some of the costumers were nice, I have received nothing but rudeness from Brian and that girl who follows him around everywhere – possibly his girlfriend or wife? Either way, this place is run extremely horribly. To sum things up, if you’re looking for a place to hang with deadbeat drugheads and receive sass from gold-digging girlfriends, this is your place!! Bula!!

The Coffee Chemist – Menu with Prices – Unnamed Road, Jacksonville

While I was waiting in my car in the Mall parking lot area, I kept hearing the sound of a generator from far away. The sound was coming from a portable trailer called The Coffee Chemist. The sound of course drew me to the trailer like a Zombie from The Walking Dead.   I met Jordan, the owner… “THE” Coffee Chemist herself. She was very nice and friendly. She offers all coffee varieties: Lattes, Expressos, Cold Brews, Cappuccinos, etc.  So many choices but I eventually opted to order The Nutty Professor, which is a Nutella based Iced Coffee. It was pretty good.   Furthermore, you can find & follow The Coffee Chemist on Facebook and Instagram.   #SupportLocal

Thai Noodles (formerly Thai Home Cuisine) – Menu with Prices – 7723 NE Fourth Plain Blvd unit B, Vancouver

Me and my hubby went to this location after looking for something to eat. Although this place might be hard to find and is a little tucked away, it’s definitely worth searching for. The interior is very simple, clean and it really looks like the owner (or whoever decorated) put hard work into the appearance. Our waiter was quiet but very nice,he seemed pleased to be able to serve us. 7 a clock on a Friday this place was dead. IM NOT EVEN MAD THO. The music was nice, the food was great and the price was fair. I think this place is great to go for a nice night out. The only thing That bugged me was how spicy our food was. I got a medium heat pad Thai and I absolutely died. They serve mango juice, delicious by the way you have to try it, and had to chug it after every bite of my noodles. Honestly though I can’t handle heat so this wasn’t so much of their problem as it was mine

Penang Town Malaysian Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 649 Newtown Rd Suite 109, Virginia Beach

Va Beach is growing up ! We’re getting a level of diversity, i have to say I was starting to believe would never happen. I’ve eaten all over the world and I’m cursed with memories of amazing food i can’t get here and it drives me nuts! But Penang Town is yet another step in the right direction! Real authentic Malaysian food right around the corner from my house! That’s what I’m talkin about right there…logistics: Parking is plentiful (restaurant is in a strip mall) Atmosphere is clean casual with dine in and take out options. Prices are comparable to expensive Chinese take out. But the quality exceeds run of the mill takeout by FAR. I chose dishes I’ve eaten in Malaysia, and something new to me to get a good idea of what they’re doing I’ve there and I was thoroughly pleased with all of it. First and foremost everything has solid flavors; some memorable some new, spice level was authentic (so much so i had to order mine a little more tame than the standard heat level cuz I’m a spice lightweight lol…we ordered take out this day and even getting the food home and unpacked it was just as good as if we had dined in. The portions are good, as this was he first place in a LONG time that provided enough food for me to have leftovers! All in all Penang has now become a go to and i will be eating my way though this menu all summer.

Eggers Meats North – Menu with Prices – 902 W Rosewood Ave, Spokane

This is based on a few times I’ve been here… Consistently, I’ve never had a problem with the quality of their meat. Every time I’ve purchased from them, I’ve been very pleased with the meat I brought home. This is starting to sound a little dirty… My biggest complaint is that they don’t have a lot of diversity of meat. I went in there for lamb the other day, and all they had was one package of ground lamb. That’s it. Maybe at their other location, but not there (and they just assumed I’d do the work to find out). So three stars. Good meat, little diversity.

Track 7 Brewing Company – Menu with Prices – 3747 W Pacific Ave F, Sacramento

“Surprisingly Well-educated Patrons, Shakespeare, Blondes.” And now for the rest of the story: First time at this brewery, and it was a pleasant experience. I had just concluded a visit to Sacramento City College and a musical rendition of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night.” To top it off, I needed to find a brewery. I was feeling a kinship with Sir Toby Belch. This business is actually 2 large areas, and the day that I visited, they were both almost full! This is obviously a very popular spot with the locals. You can actually see the fermentation tanks right behind the bar, but they’re really off limits to patrons. The nice bartender knew exactly what I wanted, when I explained what type of beer I like. He picked a nice Blonde (a type of beer, not a reference to dating preferences) and I purchased a pint for about $6. They have a large vending machine, which provides snacks and soft drinks. They also have free water right at the bar. One of the nice patrons I met explained that the people here are, “surprisingly well educated.” I wasn’t sure if he was referring to himself. I met a few local chaps and we had a wonderful chat for about 45 minutes. So overall, a pleasant stay, along with edifying conversation with surprisingly well-educated people.
