Two weeks ago, we visited the store and sent an email while there to confirm the design / order. While there, we were quoted a price by a cake decorator. A Fair and reasonable price. They also told us to call a few days in advance to place order and finalize. So, today I placed the call and spoke to the same cake decorator. She asks whatâ??s the occasion after finding the original email then tells me sheâ??d have to call me back after she â??finds the calculatorâ?. Iâ??m curious as to why a calculator needs to be found when she gave us a price and told us it wouldnâ??t change two weeks ago. But, because I love their sweets and never had an issue there, I waited for her callback. She didnâ??t call back, I called her back two hours later. After shuffling papers, she quotes me a price over $100 more than what was originally quoted. Didnâ??t know the cake prices were subject to inflation or based off gas prices. Total slap in the face, I believe it was all because I stated it was a reception. They will not have any of my business moving forward. I wonâ??t use them for my companyâ??s functions and Iâ??ve also contacted my family, they wonâ??t be dealing with them either. Samâ??s quoted me a quarter of the price, with decorations.

Royal Pastry Shop – Menu with Prices – 738 Cambridge St, Cambridge

I found the Royal Pastry Shop on Yelp last week, after visiting 6 other bakeries in the Newton/Brookline area and disheartened at the options; prices for birthday cakes; and or the need to order 2 weeks or more in advance. I called other pastry shops that were highly recommended on Yelp and fainted at the quoted price for an 8-9 inch customized birthday cake for my mom’s 100th birthday. Royal Pastry was willing to take an order by phone, but I went there on Friday. They said 24 hours was all the lead time needed. I chose a 9-inch chocolate mousse cake with both vanilla and chocolate layers, chocolate mouse filling with strawberries. I picked it up Sunday morning, and my mom blew out her candles last night. We all thought it was the most scrumptious, wonderful birthday cake we had ever had. Keep in mind, at 100 years, Mom has tasted quite a few. The inscription on the top said ” Happy Birthday”, followed by her name. Then per my request, there was an additional message inscribed around the outside of the cake. Huge glazed fresh strawberries were also placed on top. It was decadent and addictive. The cake itself was not overly sweet, tasted totally homemade from scratch, and light! The mousse was lip-smacking and scrumptious. It was a light milk chocolate, not overwhelming with too much chocolate or too sweet. Just perfect. Really. The cake was huge and heavy as I carried it out of the shop, but light as a feather to devour. We ate so much, you would think we’d never want another bite of cake again, but I am ready to go back and just buy the cake again. The price was, also, more than reasonable. I really want to thank the baker at Royal Pastry. She made the day for my Mom!

KC Pretzel Boy’s – Menu with Prices – 9559 Nall Ave, Overland Park

My office has had pretzel boys in the past and everyone loved it. So when people found out that I was ordering the personalized letter pretzels for an upcoming party everyone was excited. Two weeks before the scheduled event I called pretzel boys and asked them about the order process. I was told that I only needed to give them 24 hours notice for the special order. I called them 28 hours in advance and was told that they could not have it ready in time. I explained that when I talked with them 2 weeks ago I was told that 24 hours notice was all they needed. What was confusing is the guy on the phone kept repeating, “yeah, we need to know 24 hours in advance.” Well, I’m giving you 28 hours in advance… he did not offer to let me talk with a manager or give any kind of apology for the “mix up”. BE WARNED: get your order in EARLY because “24 hours” in advance is NOT accurate.

The Sweet Life Bakeshop – Menu with Prices – 1676 Victory Blvd, Staten Island

This was my first time ordering a professional cake where I felt I spent a big amount of money on a product. The cake was okay. What I didnâ??t like was that I had asked for a raspberry jam and I got some raspberry dry paste in the cake. It make the cake dry and I wasnâ??t very happy with the overall cake. It was gigantic. But for the price and how it tasted I could of made this cake myself I was told by others. Many of my guest didnâ??t even want to eat the cake and I wasnâ??t very pleased with that fact. I felt there was nothing that popped about my cake. When I go to a professional I expect 100 percent. I am a tough critic because I feel things should be made with love and to its fullest potential. The demeanor of the lady who owns the shop at first to me was very stand off ish which I didnâ??t like. But I felt I should give them a chance they are a bakery that was on tv for such amazing cakes but in the end I will be my own baker and I will no longer order from anyone especially if my cake will not be of importance. I felt it should have been way better no offense I felt it was slap together.

Mehran Restaurant & Catering – Menu with Prices – 1800 Valley View Ln #104, Irving

Held my sons graduation from IYA at this location. Used the decorator recommended by the owner. Paid a lot of money for said decorator. She spoke no english so we drew put on papaer what we wanted and instead of buying letters she had a small child cut out letters and place them on construction paper and the word was misspelled, did not have my sons name and put only Summa Cum but no Laude. I was extremely upset as there was a one week in advance heads up meeting and we were reassured all would be done and the night before the party we went to check and were appalled that nothing was done, except a few tables covered but that was provided by restaurant not the decorator, and we received reassurances from the restuarant owner to not worry it would all be done. I told decorator I needed a SQUARE cake holder stand and she brought a tiny circular one, so that was just one more thing wrong so I highly recommend not using this place. Carpet torn and stained, one seat the entire cushion was just sitting on top of the chair frame, the entrance to the venue plaster was all messed up and it just will never ever be my choice of venue ever again.

Creatif Catering – Menu with Prices – 3119 Stop 8 Rd, Dayton

I’m looking for venues for my wedding reception and Creatif Catering was on the list for preferred Caterers at one of the venues. I contacted Todd Wilwee via email requesting more information. He called me and left a message for further contact. I called him and stated in my message that due to my job (call center with variable hours) I’m not available for calls normally and don’t have access to my phone. I left me email and requested that he contact me there. Todd insisted we plan the venue viewing via phone. After leaving multiple messages with him, I finally got a hold of Todd, who didn’t recognize my name as the person with whom he’d been playing phone tag. Later, I sent him an email requesting some more information on certain items from my workplace. Todd, instead of responding to the email like a normal human being, decides to call the 800 number and request me at the operator. We are not allowed to take personal phone calls, that is a firing offense. When I tried to explain this to him, he insisted that we discuss my issues so much that I had to hang up on him to end the call. I sent him an email immediately after asking him to do his best answering the questions via email. He never responded. I finally asked him if his silence was to mean that he no longer wanted my business, to which he affirmed.

Seasoning 63 – Menu with Prices – 2513 Old 63 S #103, Columbia

Good food. TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE customer service. Delivery sucks and their manager is a jerk. Called to complain after order was an hour late (an hour AFTER the initial time promised it would be here, Which was 1.5 hours after placing the order). Called the restaurant 3 times to get help on where the order was…â?he went wrong way.â? â??He is on the wayâ? etc etc etc every excuse in the book. Driver finally called â??Hi. Come out to get your food.â? Other than that being rude for having food delivered, he wasnâ??t even by our apartment. Still had to wait. Asked for a discount and he said he didnâ??t know if they did that. Told us to sign receipt but both said customer copy and had no signature line. I called the restaurant again to ask for a discount for being an hour late and the lady handed the phone to the manager. He kept giving excuses and saying we must have ordered from door dash, which we didnâ??t. We ordered directly from the restaurant. Then I asked for the owners name so I could talk to someone above him. He asked what discount I wanted and kept laughing at me. I pointed out how incredibly rude it was to laugh at an angry customer and he laughed again. Then when I asked for owners name and when he would be in, the manager â??gene?â? Said he didnâ??t know when Loo was going to be there. I asked for the lady that I first spoke to and he said he didnâ??t know her name (yet heâ??s the manager?). He finally told me he would refund me half of the order price and I said ok, but when I told him I was angry that he was laughing and didnâ??t handle the situation well, he said he canâ??t talk to me anymore and handed me back to the lady. She said she would refund full price and they hung up. What a trip with these people. Good food, but man, thereâ??s good food with good service at tons of other places. Go to other places.

Mayflower Chinese Restaurant Menu with Prices 3407 Greenmount Ave, Baltimore

Letâ??s be honest here, itâ??s a reason they have all the signs up. They are extremely rude. Instead of the driver calling, he honks his horn obnoxiously outside, mind you itâ??s late (how inconsiderate can you be). I asked why didnâ??t he call, and the buffoon raises his voice talking about he doesnâ??t have to call as if Iâ??m suppose to be waiting outside for his arrival. I called to inform the lady and she starts yelling on the phone about he called me and I didnâ??t answer. I told her I didnâ??t receive any calls and instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding and tone of voice (because I definitely didnâ??t call being rude) she wants to blame it on me and hang up in my ear. Judging by the rest of the reviews, they gave up on customer service a long time ago. Theyâ??re tired of putting on a front so now theyâ??re showing people who they really are. Disrespectful human beings. These are the people we put our money into, we need to stop supporting them. They need to close down so that a more deserving business takes their place

L&L Hawaiian Barbecue – Menu with Prices – 960 Sunrise Ave #100, Roseville

Poor customer service experience. Ended up going with a different and much better Hawaiian BBQ place than this one. I had heard great things about this place so I decided to give them my business as I was putting together a staff luncheon and was in need of catering services. When I called they were too busy to talk and the girl on the phone told me she’d have to call me back. When she did the conversation was rushed. Once I had submitted my order she told me they don’t do delivery! She initially told me the earliest they could have my catering order ready would be 11:30am. However, since they didn’t deliver I asked if they could have my order ready by 11 a.m. instead since I would have to drive clear across town to pick it up. She told me she would ask her manager and AGAIN would have to call me back. When she called me she told me that their cooks were not willing to come in 2 hours earlier to prepare my catering order. First of all WHY are you asking them to come in that much earlier when I am only asking for a 30 minute difference in time from what you quoted me?? It made no sense and as I was trying to explain this to her she tells me that she’s just a cashier and that she was going to have her manager talk to me. She puts me on hold and I can hear her asking her manager to speak to me and he responds by telling her to tell me to call their other location on MACK ROAD in SACRAMENTO and that maybe they could help me. So now they wanted me to drive out even further? She gets back on the phone and communicated this to me and I again explain to her that I cannot place my order to that location because it would be too far of a drive for me. She puts me on hold again to get her manager except this time she leaves me on hold for over 5 minutes. I ended up hanging up and they never even called back to give me an update on my order. Luckily I went with a different Hawaiian bbq restaurant with much better service!

D’event Cake & Supplies – Menu with Prices – 3101 Pablo Kisel Blvd b2, Brownsville

If you want to pay for what you didnâ??t order and get terrible customer service this is your place to go. I went on a Wednesday to order a birthday cake for Friday, and the worker told me that I could take the one on the fridge. I then asked her the day it was made and she told me “on Monday”. I told her I wouldnâ??t want a 5 day old cake on Friday. Then she told me they could make a fresh one by Friday. I specifically asked her to put â??Happy Birthday ___â?, she said that it wasnâ??t a problem, she even wrote it the receipt, which I still have. She was eager to charge me so she asked me to pay right there and then. I go Friday to pick up the cake and she quickly came to the door and gave it to me. I placed it on my van and left. I get home and see that itâ??s missing the wording, so I called the owner. I told her the situation and this is the senseless excuse she gave me â??well, you ordered it by Friday and my husband was so busy running errands that I didnâ??t have time do itâ?. I told her that that was not my problem, that I had ordered in advanced. I stated that I was not wanting a refund or anything, I just wanted to let her know of the situation. Just out of curiosity, I asked her if the cake was the one she made on Monday. She rudely insisted that she was not going to refund the money and that there was nothing wrong with the cake that it was â??just missing wordingâ?. Of course, this lady was missing my point and she never apologized.

Nizario’s Pizza & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1320 Standiford Ave Suite #13, Modesto

The WORST PLACE. I will never ever eat here again, if I could give it 0 stars I would. First of all I ordered online, it took 75 minutes. I called to make sure they got my order, I ordered 1 cheese pizza, one cheesebread, 8 bone in chicken wings, a side of blue cheese and ranch. Then 2 cheesecakes. After I ordered I was told they didnâ??t have bone in so I had to get boneless I agreed and he didnâ??t tell me there was a price different. It was supposed to come straight to my room, it didnâ??t I had to meet them in the lobby at our hotel, even though I tipped them 6 dollars and the drive is less then 2 miles away. Now here comes the best part, our wings were straight up chicken tenders, no sauces no nothing at all. No blue cheese. We let it slide, then we go to eat our cheese cake and there is only one piece, and that one piece was melted completed ruined melted cheesecake. So I call to let them know I didnâ??t receive my items he tells me I should have known that they donâ??t sell blue cheese…… well Iâ??m sorry but if I can order it and pay for it…. Iâ??m going to assume you have it. After the â??managerâ? being not professional and just disregarding he tells me Iâ??ll give you a coupon for next time, and refund you for your cheesecakes…. I spent over 40 dollars, and your going to give me my money back for the things I didnâ??t physically get? And a coupon that will give me about 5 dollars back… he didnâ??t even appologize. So for all the hassle I got 5 bucks back and no apology. The worst customer service I had ever experienced and I will never eat here. I advise for you not to eat there either unless you want to chance your food being all wrong and then getting bad service.

Heights Bakery – Menu with Prices – 4925 Central Ave NE, Columbia Heights

The pastries and prices are great. Their communication and service really miss the mark, though. It’s almost impossible to contact anyone at a higher level than the person behind the counter, and even those people turn from delightful to snappy and defensive if you ask about it. They have no answering machine and no email, and sending a message via facebook only seems to trigger an automatic response about how they can only accept orders in person or over the phone (I was not trying to place an order). Their hours are subject to change at any moment without any further notice than a sign in the door. If it weren’t for the suspiciously poor communication, I’d give them five stars.
