I have come here 3 times so it meant I like it so why the 3 stars? it’s complicated!!!LOL! I have had hotpots in every Asian country I have been to, my husband was not so keen, he said all the broth will balloon the belly out! but I grow up having soups and salads daily. Hot pots are popular with just about every Vietnamese I know so I guess that is why the restaurants are taking advantage of all of us, they priced it ridiculously high and in many instances, the broth came right out of the can, it was outrageous. The price ranged from $23 to $30 even $35 and I felt ripped off. I was driving by and noticed this restaurant, I immediately yelped, called them and was delighted it was then just $10 or $11 at their grand opening. It is now $14.99, still a real bargain. The entrance to the restaurant had a waiting room full of Vietnamese classical instruments, the violin, mandolin, 1 cord guitar, etc. They all look amazing in a beautiful setting. there are many booths and big tables in the middle of the room for big gatherings. The server sat us down and asked what broth we prefer, there are 7 choices but only 2 are included, any extra will be charged, not too much, I think it was 75 cents each added broth. We chose the yellow noodle and the white vermicelli. The Thai broth was very hot, it only came one way, if you can’t eat too spicy, you’d be out of luck, that’s what happened to me, I ordered the satay broth to dilute it out, but it made it even hotter and not edible, the satay broth was awful, DON’T GET THIS ONE! I then ordered the vegetable broth which was just like water, DON’T GET THIS EITHER!! The seafood broth was fine, so conclusion if you can eat hot, the best broth is the Thai one. the buffet has about 40 buckets/serving plates of 20 different seafood items, very fresh salmon, catfish, meatballs, squid, shrimp, calamari, beef, a lot of vegetables, they had taro but I was disappointed they did not have celery or mushroom, the choy they had was tasteless, it was not even bok choy, I was looking for spinach or okra, no luck either. I was hoping they would have some salad, I know it is a hot pot place but it was boring just a whole bunch of seafood and not much else, I would gladly pay more for a little more variety. For desert, all they had was almond cookies. I have to rate this 3 stars as much as I appreciated having a reasonably priced meal and all you can eat at that, but because of the limited items on the buffet, I was not a happy camper! on week ends the restaurant was packed, like 95% packed! I will come back whenever I feel broke coming back from expensive trips! and I think this is quite healthy food, no fat anywhere. Folks, don’t worry about the cholesterol from the shrimp, etc.. IMHO, cholesterol danger is overblown, it’s the saturated fats that are more harmful and can kill you!!

Noodle World Vietnamese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 4909 17 Ave SE, Calgary

Five stars for the satay pho and the new satay pho with coconut milk! Was told to come here when a friend knew I was going to Calgary. He recommended that I have their satay pho and I would like it. Upon looking at their menu, I wasn’t sure whether it was the 20a satay pho or 20b satay pho with coconut milk. Two of my friends ordered the satay pho w coconut (choice of beef, chicken or seafood). I ordered the regular one (w seafood). My other friend ordered fried wontons to start. Upon recieving my food, mine looked underwhelming compared the the coconut milk one. Mine look less rich and less satay. But both were amazing and rich in their broths! The regular satay pho has a lighter and more clear taste, no satay and barely any peanuts or if they had any? The pho satay w coconut milk was thicker and richer in flavor. You can taste the satay, peanut and shrimp paste, delicious! As for the fried wonton, it was actually really good! I’m not sure what was inside, looks like some sort of cooked fish paste or a blend of seafood and meat combined into a paste, but they were delicious. I want to eat here before I leave or when I come visit again, to come back and order again.

Chao Bay Vietnamese Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 6829 Stockton Blvd #399, Sacramento

One of the BEST Vietnamese Restaurant in Sac Area!!! The taste is AUTHETIC, overall it’s 8/10 compared to Vietnamese food in Vietnam. So I have tried their Pho, Bun Dau Mam Tom, Bun Moc, and Bun Rieu Cua so far: 1. Pho (8/10) – the broth is actually pretty good. If you like Northern Vietnamese Pho, this is a place for you! If you like Southern Vietnamese Pho, I recommend Ha Noi Pho Restaurant. But my recommend is you should try both lol. And Chao Bay also has “Nuoc Beo” if you ask for it. For those of you who dont know, this “Nuoc Beo” is an oily broth that make the Pho broth more rich and flavorful. It usually comes with a small separated bowl, so you can mix and adjust the broth to your taste. One of the minus point is their noodle, they serve it with a regular noodle that is used in most of the Pho’s restaurant in the U.S. (Ha Noi Pho actually has fresh noodle for additional 50 cents and it’s really good). If Chao Bay has fresh noodle, I gonna give it 10/10 because it will taste exactly the same Northern Pho in Vietnam. 2. Bun Dau Mam Tom (8.5/10) – Pros: they served with hot vermicelli, a lot of different kinds of veggies, and really cheap for that price. Definitely a MUST TRY! Cons: Cha Ca isn’t really good. It’s not chewy like it supposed to be. And the Mam Tom is not as good as I expect. It’s a little bit sweet for me and I love a thick Mam Tom’s smell, but their Mam Tom’s smell is so light (since it has been diluted too much). However, I completely understand why they need to dilute it. Since not everyone can stand Mam Tom’s smell and most of American people dont like that smell. They make it good enough for even people who try it first time can still eat and like it. So my rating is just my personal preferance and comparing w/ Bun Dau Mam Tom in Vietnam, so I know it’s harsh . 3. Bun Moc (6.5/10) – the reason I give it low rating because its broth tastes like Hu Tieu’s broth, not Bun Moc’s broth. Overall, it’s still a good one. But because the broth doesn’t taste like what it’s supposed to. So basically it loses its authenticity. 4. Bun Rieu Cua (7.5/10) – overall it’s good. But the broth is not rich and flavorful as I expected. And the Rieu Cua taste like Cha. Since I was born in Vietnam and lived there for 20 years. I’m really familiar with Vietnamese food, so that’s why I’m so picky and my ratings are harsh. But don’t get me wrong, if I crave for Vietnamese food (especially Northern Vietnamese food cuz they offer a lot of food that most of the restaurants in Sac area dont have), I definitely go here! I just want to give everyone a closer look to what you can expect from this restaurant.

Grand Chinese Hot Pot – Menu with Prices – 6967 Victoria Dr, Vancouver

I wish I discovered this restaurant sooner. I am not one to usually go to AYCE hot pot, but from now on, this is where I will go. For $18.98 per person, you can order an unlimited amount of standard hot pot dishes from their menu. I enjoyed the sliced beef, sliced lamb, yam noodles, bean curd, lettuce, watercress, napa cabbage, tripe, and dumplings. Their meats are sliced super thin, although the beef is a little fatty, the quality is very good for AYCE. For the meat, it counts as 1 plate per order (see picture). The dumplings, despite being frozen, were so fresh and tasty, I think this was one of my favourite items here. I think they had pork and chives inside. The vegetables we ordered were all fresh, crisp, and recently washed. Some other items we ordered included meatballs, chicken liver, squid rings, baby octopus, and wontons. Sadly, a few things were sold out that day, so it may be better to dine earlier. The soup base is an additional charge of $8 for a regular size or $10 for a large. For the 3 of us, the regular was enough, and likely 4 could share too. You can get half/half broth, at half the price each. So for example, we got half a side of satay broth for $4 and half of the coriander & 1000 year old egg broth for $4, totaling $8. It’s nice that they don’t charge for half/half. I also really liked the satay broth. The items cooked in there had a lot of satay flavour after cooking. From the selection of sauces, you can choose 2 per person. There isn’t too much selection here, and weirdly, soy sauce is not an option. We just went for satay and their peanut/sesame sauce. They have some popular combinations as well, which I may try next time. The only thing is, service is a little slow. While we were there, there was just 1 waitress handling the entire restaurant. So, if we wanted to put in extra orders or ask for a soup or drink refill, it can take some patience. But I don’t mind at all, seeing as there is a 2 hour limit and hot pot is a slower style of dining anyway. The restaurant is nothing fancy, very minimal, but it is clean. I wish that air circulation was better, though, because my clothes definitely smelled like hot pot afterwards. For the 3 of us, it came to about $25 per person after tax and tip. That’s after splitting the cost of soup. At this price, and considering typical AYCE quality, I will definitely be back!

Noodle King Vietnamese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 32 Ave NE, Calgary

Since I’ve eaten here about 8 times, I’d say this place satisfies my hankering for noodles. You know. It happens to all of us. My favorites are #44 with no pork and now #26 with only shrimp. So what this means … is that they will substitute the other stuff with more shrimp. Which is great because the shrimp here is good. Not tough, good flavor, good size and cooked well. The broth of my soup today (seafood soup, but only had shrimp) was really good. I’ve ordered what another yelp are described as the house special with soup on the side… That soup broth was kind of gross in my opinion. I didn’t touch it. I didn’t add anything to my soup today nor did they bring us a plate of bean sprouts, thankfully I was with someone who spoke Vietnamese and asked for some. But no mint or a red chili and Thai basil or mint .. none of that came with our soups. My lunch mate ordered the first pho on the menu – the house with everything in it – she chose egg noodles instead of rice noodles. We enjoyed both of our dishes. So all in all I like this place because it’s quick, delicious, good attitude (snappy positive Vietnamese woman who want to make you happy) and its also a comfortable place to sit down. Nice booths and chairs you can sink into, the lighting is nice, not blaring or uncomfortable but muted, a bit dim and it’s a nice busy place mostly all of the time. I can’t decide between four and five stars, so I’ll give Noodle King four, since eight out of 10 times was good.

Los Plebes ” Tacos & Mariscos ” Menu with Prices 9830 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge

If I could give this good truck more than 5 stars I would. I drive all the way to austin from Baton Rouge specifically to go eat at food trucks. This one is by far one of the best food trucks I’ve ever eaten at. Not only is their food GORGEOUS and not sloppy, but it’s priced right and it’s super tasty! It’s mainly seafood items, (mariscos = seafood in Spanish) but they have some of the best carne asada street tacos EVER. Holy cow. If you love spicy food, Mexican food, and seafood….. you gotta check this truck out! I had the Mitotera (shrimp, calamari, scallop, octopus in a spicy sauce… basically a spicy seafood ceviche!) and carne asada tacos and shrimp tacos. They gave us 4 diff types of salsa, all of which were some of the best salsas I’ve ever had!

Pho Bowl & Grill – Menu with Prices – 1006 Mission Ave Ste C, Oceanside

Okay, I was not going to write another review on Pho Bowl & Grill. I have to make this one my last exception. It was that good. Today was a 5 STAR +++++ day. I finally asked Lanh aka Chris, the owner, what he and/or his family would usually have. He said his family frequently eats: H1. Spicy Beef Noodle Soup Rich flavory lemongrass broth served with rice vermicelli noodles, tender beef shark, tendon, pork and shrimp sausage This by far was probably the best Vietnamese dish I have ever eaten in what most would say was a predominately known for “pho” restaurant. The pork and shrimp sausage is absolute perfection exploding with flavor. It was my favorite thing in the bowl. The tendon was gelatinous but very tasty. I had my reservations upfront about the tendon, but it definitely added to the experience. In the past, my experience with tendon has been it was very difficult to chew. The tender beef had just the right amount of fat to add to its flavor. The broth was rich in flavor and had a taste unlike any other pho bowls I have had in the past. Delicious. It had to have been the lemongrass in the broth. For my own personal taste, it could have been more spicy, but that is why they have all of the extra condiments on the table. Make it your way by adding whatever seasoning you like. Easily, Vietnamese food is some of the most interesting and flavorful food in the world. At least, it is my favorite. I have been to Spain, Portugal, France, Marrakesh and loved the food. I have been all over Mexico, Central and South America. Lived in the Philippines. Been to Japan. I think I can speak with some degree of experience. If you have not eaten Vietnamese food, you are really missing out. Give it a try and don’t be shy. Food should be an experience. A hamburger can be a “real” experience or it can just be another hamburger. I think you know what I mean. If you want to step out of your comfort, try something you might not have previously tried. And, did I mention this place is VERY reasonably priced at $8.25 for a small pho and $8.95 for a large pho. Oh, before I forget, I was with one of my best friends who is absolutely not an adventurous eater and he had the “chicken fried rice”. I was lucky to get him into a pho restaurant. When I quizzed him about how good was it, he said it was one of the best he had ever eaten. He, also, said when we go back he will probably try a vermicelli bowl which would be breaking entirely out of his comfort zone. I think I have a convert.

Jumbo’s Fish & Seafood – Menu with Prices – 555 E Main St, Rochester

So, I found Jumbo’s on Restaurant.com. That’s the site that gives you 50 percent off meals and thank goodness for it. Otherwise, I woulda been pretty disappointed paying full price at this newly established seafood venue. Between the two of us… we ordered steamed snow crab legs, fried shrimp, coleslaw, hush puppies and fried okra. Just for starters this is mainly a takeout spot. There’s 2 tables in the waiting area and it’s really not anything nice. Plus, if you decide to eat there, like we did, the staff will kinda just stare out at you the entire time. Lol It’s kinda odd and uncomfortable, but it’s not deliberate on their part. It’s a tiny spot and they simply lean in the service window, either people watching or waiting for their next customer. We decided to eat there. It was tight… it wasn’t the cleanest, the staff rationed out the napkins (which was odd because seafood gets so messy and sticky) and it was far from our finest dining moment. The fried shrimp was really good. It’s cooked in a light batter that’s not too heavy. So, not heavily breaded like most fried shrimp dinners and not the fish and chip battere either. You definitely get more of the shrimp with their fry method. The crab legs were a BIG expensive No-No! Omg.. no salt, no Old Bay, just plain-old steamed and bland. If you’re into that then go for it. I was mad. I wanted flavor and my cholesterol surely went up that day because I kept dipping and double and triple dipping in the butter to try to get some flavorful on them! The slaw they said was homemade, but it was far too mayo-made for us. The hushpuppies and fried okra were standard. They’re new in town, but they definitely have seafood prices. It’s just a whole in the wall, but you’re safe with the fried shrimp dinner.

Golomein Noodle House – Menu with Prices – 2976 Ellwood Dr SW, Edmonton

I’m always on the hunt for easy dinner ideas. After all, no one likes cooking after a long day of work/classes. Golomein Noodle House, located South of Edmonton, specializes in Brunei noodles and rice dishes. They’re known for selling convenient frozen meal packages in stores and in various farmers markets. Golomein is a dry mix noodle dish. The noodles are cooked separately and then mixed with marinating sauce. Trust me, you won’t be missing out on the traditional broth. The sauces are a pack of flavour on its own. The concepts of quick, easy, and delicious was surely in place. The best seller is shanghai noodles topped with BBQ pork, ground pork, and bok choy. You’d be missing out if you get it with rice instead of noodles! Ground pork and BBQ pork were both luscious. It’s great how each dish contained bok choy to bring it all together. My main concern with the chicken satay was the moisture in the chicken after being in the microwave. Surprisingly, not only did it retained its juiciness, it came with a burst of nutty flavours from the satay sauce. I’m not normally a fan of sweat sauces for savoury dishes but this was a nice balance of sweet, tangy, and savoury. Prices range from $12.95 for the regular size and $17 for the large. Keep in mind that the large is only available for purchase in stores. Frozen packages are also available for $55 for 5 packs of regular portions. I felt very full with the large and would’ve been content with the regular. If I lived even a little closer to Golomein, I’d be here almost every week. I can’t believe it took me this long to try it! I was always tempted by the farmers market but didn’t think the regular size would actually fill me up. If you love easy home-cooked food without the actual cooking, this is definitely a must try.

Vietnam Cuisine Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 1224 E Colonial Dr, Orlando

I wish I discovered Vietnam Cuisine earlier! Located on Colonial where there are other Vietnamese restaurant competitors, we decided to try this spot out. They have a parking lot in the back but it does get full quick as there aren’t many spaces. You can enter the restaurant from either end. My boyfriend and I are obsessed with this place. They have amazing food. Very small restaurant, they can probably only sit about 20-25 people at a time. Their kitchen turns food around fast! Other pros about Vietnamese food is that it’s cheap and healthy. They have a very colorful and detailed menu. The have the traditional Vietnamese names, descriptions and some popular dishes have pictures. This is how we ended up trying a new Vietnamese appetizer. This thin pancake was one of the best parts of our trips to Orlando. The menu highlighted this item on their appetizers page. We decided to try it and we are glad we did. I’ve had pho here twice. The first time, I ordered it with the thin sliced beef. I typically like asking for the raw beef on the side so it doesn’t overcook in the broth. The presentation was beautiful. We ordered the short rib platter as another entree and it was very tasty. I’ve also tried their pho here with their beef balls and their broth really makes the dish.

Le Petit Saigon – Menu with Prices – 2783 E Hastings St, Vancouver

Le Petit Saigon is my all time favourite Vietnamese restaurant. I’ve been eating pho since I was old enough to chew, and have had plenty of bowls of it in my lifetime. My favourite spot always changed, but ever since I’ve been to Le Petit Saigon in 2014, nothing else compares. My dad and I are regulars at the restaurant and we come for some lunch every weekend. I’ve tried a couple dishes from the menu but my favourite is just a regular bowl of pho. The broth has a strong umami flavour and because of the richness, you can tell it’s been simmering for the appropriate amount of time. Another dish on the menu I really enjoy is the seafood soup with egg noodles. It’s a very different flavour from the pho broth but again, the rich umami flavour is incredible. Overall, the broth at Le Petit Saigon rocks. Every meal I’ve tried, I’ve absolutely loved and practically licked the bowl. If you’re looking for a comforting meal (especially on a cold and rainy Vancouver day), definitely consider Le Petit Saigon.

The Original Benjamin’s Calabash Seafood – Menu with Prices – 9593 N Kings Hwy, Myrtle Beach

One of thee BEST SEAFOOD places you will taste on the East coast! When coming to Myrtle Beach, SC- it is almost traditional to come to this restaurant- that is how good it is! I came here with family on a Saturday night and although it was packed, we managed to get a seat right away. Since there is plenty of parking, we did not have to drive around as the parking lot is HUGE! When walking in, there is a hostess at the door in a captain’s outfit that is waiting to greet you and show you to your seat. They will ask you if you’ve ever been there before and if you haven’t, they will give you a tour of the food that is being offered along with the prices of the buffet ($37.50 per person). Once seated, we were greeted by a young man named “Jake” (not from State Farm). Jake was very nice, professional and very attentive. He made sure to explain the prices, the fact that it was a buffet and he bought our drinks and utensils on time. Overall, he was an excellent waiter! In terms of the food- there was every kind of seafood being offered. Crab legs, shrimp, cod, flounder, oysters, stuffed mushrooms- you name it! The great thing about this is that it is all you can eat! The food was very fresh, warm and tasty! In all the years that we’ve come, I’ve never seen this restaurant empty and that is because the food and dining experience speaks for itself. Overall, this is a GREAT PLACE for people of all ages and backgrounds. Whether you come here with your family, significant other or by yourself, this place makes you feel welcomed. Additionally, the food and dining experiences are both amazing- I would definitely come back!

Pho Sai Gon – Menu with Prices – 14861 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park

I found this place by searching on Yelp for Vietnamese restaurants in the area. I ordered Fresh Spring Roll which is filled with chicken and shrimp. My rolls were fresh and the dipping sauce was made perfectly. However, the spring roll wrapper did not have a strong hold for the ingredients. Imagine my surprise when I opened my box to see that my rolls were coming apart. I can’t walk into a Vietnamese restaurant and not try the Pho. I ordered my go-to choice of the medium chicken pho. The medium portion was more than enough for me. It’s not the best Pho that I’ve ever had, but wasn’t the worst either. They also have a miniature veggie buffet which is nice. It provides patrons the ability to decide the amount of veggies they would like for their Pho.
