I generally love eating here. Their soups are usually pretty good but I don’t know what’s happened lately. Their French Onion soup from last month was nothing but salt. This month the Spicy Sriracha Udon soup is nothing but salt. Extremely salty. No other flavor in the broth could be tasted. This is the worst version of any Udon soup I’ve ever had compared to a Japanese restaurant. Sorry for all the bad news. For the good news, I love the fresh salads and homemade salad dressing. So yummy! Usually pretty good but on certain days they add a little too much salt to the Home Greek Dressing. Soups here are generally awesome in the past!! I would have given them 5-stars on many occasions. I don’t know what’s happened as of late. I hope they get their naturals flavors back.

Souper Roll Up Cafe – Menu with Prices – 726 Cambridge St, Cambridge

Awful. I ordered for two other people and myself. If a sandwich comes standard with onions, you MUST note it on the menu. Marinated Roasted Chicken Roll Up was practically inedible. Completely fell apart the moment I picked it up. After fishing out all the MANY onions, I saw very old, wilted, rusty lettuce. After picking those out, and because it was no longer a wrap, I tried to start eating it as a salad. Chicken was tough and flavorless, what remained of the lettuce was now wilted from all the dressing. Not even worth it… in the trash it went. Ordered 2 soups, got 1. Ordered balsamic dressing for one of the salads and got some kind of herb dressing. Tuna sandwich apparently had a ton of onions in it as well and was not liked at all. Soup was bland. Never, ever again.

Fresh Box Cafe – Menu with Prices – 3230 W Commercial Blvd # 170, Fort Lauderdale

Love, love this place!! Whenever I come up to Broward for work, I always stop in here for food. They have great fresh salads, soups and various sandwiches. They have pre-made salads and a salad bar where you tell them what you want and they fix it for you. You are charged by the pound and very inexpensive. Today I had a navy bean soup that was delicious! I’d never had navy beans before and really wanted soup but not the traditional chicken noodle. Lisa was so awesome and allowed me to sample it first. Not to mention, it’s like she read my mind and asked if I’d like some rice with it! Winner!!! I ate the soup so fast that I didn’t get a chance to take a picture. It so was good that I tried to go back and get more but they’d sold out. Bummer!!! I most certainly will be back here as I sometimes have to work out of our Broward office. If you’re ever in the area, give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!!

Mill Creek Station & Catering – Menu with Prices – 200 Hawthorne Ave SE # E500, Salem

We stopped by Mill Creek Station to pick up some soup in the middle of our Spring Break activities. We were greeted immediately, ordered our soup, salads, and desserts (brownies and lemon bars). Waited a short 10 minutes and a box arrived with our yummy lunch tucked inside. She carried the box out to our car and we were on our way. When we arrived at home, we were pleased to find bowls of soup (I had ordered two cups and one bowl), Two full size salads (pasta and my favorite – tomato and cucumber), enough carrot packs to feed a small army of rabbits, not just three slices of bread to accompany our soups, but an entire sliced loaf of Great Harvest honey wheat. One extra brownie was tucked in there, as well as several packages of oyster crackers. She asked my granddaughter to pick out a couple of bags of chips, which turned in to three. What a pleasant surprise! We have been picking up soup here for lunch 10-12 times a year. I have never had a bad meal. The food is consistently good and today we were blessed with an additional bounty of extras. We LOVE Mill Creak Station! (I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them if I could decipher the dressing on the tomato/cucumber salad ?

Potbelly Sandwich Shop – Menu with Prices – 853 W Main St Ste A Ste A, Charlottesville

I saw the name and assumed 4 stars from previous experiences with this chain…but after after a poor experience I now see that this location has 2.5 stars….and I agree with the low rating. Closing time says 9pm…. that’s when the crew plans to be completely done shutting down the restaurant, closing time is actually around 8-8:15PM. After 8, there is no Mac and cheese, soup or salad dressing. The other surprise was that after being told there’s no Mac or soups, therefore ordering a salad, the salad got made, then told there was only fat free salad dressing. Which I did not want! Unfortunately I am staying at the Hampton Inn across the street all week. I will definitely look for other options!

Manna Grill – Menu with Prices – 1201 University Ave #110-B, Riverside

I used to come here when they first opened and it was my go-to when I needed my tteokbokki fix! Nowadays, I go bc the boyfriend L O V E S the curry katsu udon. We initially though it would just be curry based soup with udon noodles but NOPE. It’s like actual curry over rice but instead it’s over udon noodles and there’s a nice crispy katsu pork or chicken on top. Super delicious, highly recommend! Although the first time he got it, he had said it was good but wouldn’t go again. Turn out it grew on him and he’s been back multiple times since, JUST for that. Also love that they have korean desserts and drinks! I’ve ordered the bibimbap, kimbap, udon, bulgogi plate, and tteokbokki before. The bibimbap is good, kimbap is simple but delicious, and tteokbokki is spot on. The spice level isn’t too bad but it’s definitely there at least for me. I don’t do well with spice and I can only eat a few pieces before I tap out. The bulgogi plate is fair, good ratio of meat, rice, and salad with that really good, never-know-what-it-is dressing. The udon was also good, noodles well cooked and broth simple but there was barely any fish cake and I asked if I could add bulgogi and they said no which…I don’t see why not. She didn’t even ask anyone else she just said no which I mean it’s fine she probably gets paid minimum wage but still I don’t see the big deal but it left the udon kind of plain and too simple. Like I could’ve just bought a packet from the grocery store and boiled my own water simple. But overall, bang for your buck isn’t terrible and at least they don’t skimp on the meat when they offer it! A good spot to satisfy your Korean craving (at least from a non-Korean).

O’Brien’s Bistro – Menu with Prices – 4350 Bayou Blvd, Pensacola

The outward appearance of this restaurant does not accuratly reflect whats inside. I thought this was a regular run of the mill place to get a quick bite after a long flight, but I was totally wrong. This is a fine dining establishment in every way shape and form. I was wearing shorts and a tshirt and felt under dressed. I sat outside since it was such a nice day out. My waitress brought out some water and some biscuits and butter. These.biscuits. I dont know What blend of herbs and spices they put into these things, but these biscuits! They are an experience in themselves, make sure to ask for them when you go. Aside from the biscuits, I had a salad which, you know, a salad is a salad. Dont get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with it, but at the end of the day a salad is still a salad. With such a wide array of options across the three menus (brunch, lunch, dinner) there is something for everyone, so stop by and checknit for yourself.

Ladyfingers Caterers – Menu with Prices – 627 E Whitaker Mill Rd, Raleigh

I know these folks are primarily caterers, but my experience with them has been with the Cleanse Diet they seem to be offering around once a month. I’ve only done it once (based on the recommendation from a co-worker who did it the month before with her husband), and really liked it! It was a five day program that included three meals a day, snacks and three Humdinger juices per day. The food parts were all fresh ingredients, devoid of sugar, gluten and dairy. First thing in the morning was a green Balance Humdinger juice usually followed by their home-made granola bar. Lunch was something yummy like fish tacos, or a Mexican salad, maybe quinoa with roasted veggies. Dinners were equally yummy with things like roasted turkey, Lebanese chicken skewers. One of my favorite things all week was a spicy Thai watermelon soup. And I loved every salad dressing so much that at the end of the program, I ordered some of their dressings. Everything was so fresh and flavorful…no wimpy spices! I swore that if I won the lottery I would come try to hire their chef away from them. If this diet type food is any indication of what their catering is like, well, I’m thinking they have to be good! TIP: Not only can you purchase the Humdinger juices here, but they have a freezer case full of casseroles, soups, chili, etc. that you can buy and take home for your family or for entertaining. I bought some vegetable soup and it was quite good. Plus they have a refrigerated case of nice-looking salads and such. They also told me that sometime in the near future, they are planning on offering some of the diet-type food for sale on a daily basis. I’m looking forward to being able to grab a healthy tasty salad or entree like the ones I enjoyed during their Cleanse Diet.

Al’s Gyros Chicago’s Finest – Menu with Prices – 5932 W Bell Rd, Glendale

I love this place. Really do. Had many dishes on their menu. I cant get enough of the Mediterranean salad with chicken. Its large and plentiful with chicken. So good. My problem is with pick up orders. When I get the salad, I ask for the Greek dressing to be on the side (so it doesnt saturate the lettuce if I were to keep for leftovers, which I do) I was told it always does. That order came with dressing on the side, so when I ordered again I didnt ask, bc… dressing always came on the side for to go orders.. that didn’t happen. I was very disappointed. But since this place is so good and despite me moving and it’s a ways further, I still come here! So I order again and specifically say please put the dressing on side. Ok no problem. I get to pay and notice I dont see the dressing. I’m given one and I go home. Start to eat and noticed the dressing is all on the bottom of the container. So sad! I wont stop coming here, but please stop it LOL! Get it together

Diamond Back Downtown – Menu with Prices – 101 N Cherry St, Winston-Salem

I love this place. I walk downtown sometimes during lunch and stop here to get take-out. It’s in the Park Building and has “order at the counter” walk up service. Their food is truly gourmet. They have tables inside and some outside in the atrium. The wait is never too long. Their ingredients are so fresh and their sandwiches and salads are innovative and delicious. I love the Ciao Bella – grilled portabella, tomato, pesto aioli, provolone, organic mixed greens and balsamic vinaigrette. The Black Bean salad or Sesame Noodles make a great side. They have homemade soups every day. Their house salad is spectactular – figs, walnuts, blue cheese, etc. You also have the option to build your own salad or sandwich ($7.95 or $6.95 respectively). Great options like cranberry mayo, horseradish sour cream, pesto aioli, avocado, kalamatas, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, capers! They make your salad chopped with dressing on the side or they’ll load it in a big stainless steel bowl and toss it. Prices are good, food is outstanding, owners are really, really nice. Big fan.

Soup R Salads – Menu with Prices – 308 S Warren St, Syracuse

Really Great soups. They typically have 3 to choose from. I’ve never had one of their salads, but many people wait in line for those. You stand in line to be able to move up to order your salad or soup. But I will tell you what BUGS me about this place. Many businesses put up signs NOT to use your cell phone or to limit its use. At “Soup R Salads” they have several signs that say NO CELL PHONES in line. But, damn, I’m just waiting in line–waisting valuable cell phone use time! Aren’t I smart enough to stop using my phone when it is my turn to order? I really want to talk to them about this and their offensive and insulting signs! Lol

Cassie’s Deli & Catering – Menu with Prices – 444 Cedar St, St Paul

My coworker is slightly obsessed with the Greek salad here. Today, I agreed to see why her love for this salad is so profound. Except for I didn’t go with the Greek salad. I probably will next time. I had the strawberry spinach salad and it was perfect! The spinach and walnuts were nicely chopped. The strawberry and mandarin orange added just the right amount of sweetness. The recommended “medium” amount of poppyseed dressing dressed the salad just right for my taste. Nothing can put a damper on a salad like too much dressing. I’ll be back for more salads, including the Greek. I’m taking one star off because the setup is disorganized and causes delays. One goes up to a salad chef who makes the salad directly in front of the customer. It’s the closest I’ll come to a personal chef. Oh, and the salad came with free breadsticks or rolls! Can’t say no to those!

Amore Italian Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 9757 Fall Creek Rd, Indianapolis

I expected fine dining, what I got was “meh”. How disappointing. The interior is cute, the service spotty, the prices up there but the food didn’t make it past so-so. Those familiar with me know that I generally drag a few folks from my foodie group along with me, especially when checking out a new restaurant. Once all 8 of us had ordered, we received bread and oil with herbs to dip it in. That was delicious. It all went down the hill when we received our salads and soups that come with the entrees. The salad looked delish, but once you had a mouthful, all you could taste was pepper. Take your breath away, burn your mouth black pepper. The six of us with salads were on fire, the two that had ordered soup on the other hand complained about it being too bland. I offered to share my pepper bowl but the soup fans declined. Darn. So we were already a bit suspicious when the entrees started to come out. Let me say that they looked fantastic. Unfortunately looks can be deceiving as we all know. I had the roasted pork ragu on recommendation of the waiter. It was only ok, not the greatest dish I ever experienced. Somewhat lacking in flavor. The portion size is pretty good and so I took some of it home. I must say that it improved it’s taste once reheated. Go figure. My guests also indulged in spaghetti with meatballs, lasagna of the day, some kind of pasta with shrimp and piccata. The person with the piccata absolutely loved it, the rest of us were underwhelmed and agreed that we could have the same quality for much less at a chain restaurant (we won’t mention the name). Result: 7 out of 8 won’t return and 1 is in love with the piccata… with that said, may I recommend the piccata?
