Meh. A good-looking bar from the outside, and definitely at least a cosmetic upgrade from the previous Charles’ Billiards, but it’s still a kind of a dive bar with lipstick. I have problems with neither dive bars, nor lipstick, but this place seems to have a bit of an identity crisis. Starts: Parking is not great; no designated lot except for a pretty large lot behind the bar on Maryland that used to have access directly to the bar, but which has now been closed and for which there is no entrance, and only an emergency exit. That lot takes credit card, but the streets only take coins, so keep that in mind. The bar looks good when you walk in. A few tables in the front, a large bar, and a bunch of pool tables in the back. Happy hour prices on drinks are pretty good at Buy 2, Get 1 free, but the drinks are neither particularly tasty, strong, nor well-made, as in a whiskey sour will just be like three ingredients shaken and poured. This would all be fine if it presented more as a dive, but there is a large prominent outline of a figure front and center who I suppose to be Mr. Furley, made up of a top hat, a monocle, and a pipe, if i recall correctly, which all speaks to a sort of boojy, fancy, well-curated and hifalutin class that is in neither the drinks nor the food. The food is presented like a dive. NACHOS! MOZZARELLA STICKS! NO TAKE OUT NO UTENSILS HAHAHA WE’RE JUST HAVING A GOOD TIME HERE! and that works in some ways because it’s cost and time-saving, and the 4 large nachos were tasty but not particularly a good value as there are literally 4 chips, very deliberately, and the mozzarella sticks were pretty tasty, a big piece of cheese breaded and fried pretty nicely that almost immediately you regret eating if you have issues digesting dairy (as many do). it was mildly annoying when we didn’t finish the mozzarella sticks and asked for a take out container and were reminded that HAHA WE DON’T DO THAT KINDA THING CUZ WE’RE SO GOOFY but we were permitted a large piece of foil to wrap our food in. classy. half a block down the street is Tavern on Brand, which had more people in the front patio than McFurley’s had in the entire bar. that probably says something.

New York pizza kitchen – Menu with Prices – 2-50 W South St, Orlando

Deserves ZERO stars! Literally the most horrible pizza place ever. Delivery took an hour for horrible, days old looking pizza, dry mozzarella sticks that came with ranch dressing, and soggy onion rings. Aside from everything being disgusting, the pizza order was wrong, they brought the wrong sodas as well and who serves mozzarella sticks with ranch dressing??? The driver didn’t even deliver to our room and asked us to walk to the lobby to pick up. He also made sure to tell us that tips weren’t included in the price which I’m pretty sure there WAS a delivery fee. Bottom line…Don’t trust a random flyer under your hotel door, esp if it has no location address AND read reviews before ordering anywhere!!

Longwood Athletic Club – Menu with Prices – 5802 Longwood Run Blvd, Sarasota

First and foremost; this is a bar…the restaurant seems like an afterthought. There are tables scatter around the bar..a few feet away. The food was less than impressive…We had loaded fries, mozzarella sticks, salads, pizza and dessert. Everything tasted like it was straight out of the frozen food section. Our waitress was pleasant but totally overwhelmed with 4 tables to serve and catering to patrons at the counter..she was the only person working. In my book it’s a 2 Star (food) with and extra Star for friendliness.

Foster’s Cafe & Bar – Menu with Prices – 6307 N Kings Hwy A, Myrtle Beach

We were desperate for something to eat late at night when everything else had closed down… Uber Eats listed one pizza joint I had already been disappointed with, and this place (Fosters) which had only a couple photos and reviews. I took a chance, and we ordered a couple of cheesesteaks, fries, and mozzarella sticks. I’ll be honest: I had super low expectations. LUCKILY, they exceeded my expectations more than I ever imagined. While the food was nothing to write home about, the cheesesteak was better than most of the hole in the wall food and many of the big money franchises alike at the beach. The fries didn’t travel well, and I’d skip those next time… but the mozzarella sticks were great. They were actually still warm, and tasted beer battered. All in all, I just wanted to give some credibility to this place for those of you in the same situation as I was. It may not be the first pick, but I don’t think you’ll be disappointed if you don’t have incredibly high expectations. For a place that is apparently (according to other reviewers) a bar first, and restaurant second, I’m rounding this one up to four stars. Solid 3.5 at least. Haha!

Casa Della Mozzarella – Menu with Prices – 604 E 187th St, The Bronx

I went pretty far out of my way for some mozzarella from Casa, and I WOULD DO IT EVERY DAY IF I COULD. The mozzarella is THAT amazing! I am a mozzarella purist. I eat my mozzarella at room temperature, with a knife and fork, and I try to eat it within 1 day of purchasing. I love mozzarella so much, I spent several months trying to perfect my own recipe. I failed miserably at this, because I think you need to be pure magic to make mozzarella as good as Casa’s. So.. the mozzarella. It was stringy, soft, and juicy. It was perfectly salty. A true melt-in-your-mouth, eyes-roll-back-in-your-head experience. I also tried a sandwich, which was quite good. I had the “Casa”, which was prosciutto, mozzarella, peppers and balsamic sauce. The bread was excellent and super fresh also, but I was SO anxiously anticipating eating more of the straight mozzarella, I couldn’t fully enjoy it. I will dream about this mozzarella until I make it back to NY. For real.

El Patron Restaurant & Bar – Menu with Prices – 2520 K Ave Suite 100, Plano

Don’t listen to the reviews! This place is nowhere near authentic Mexican or close to a restaurant. We walked in and no one greeted us. The owner and waiter were in an involved conversation and let us wander for a few minutes. Once we got service, we looked over the menu. Half the menu is only available for the 1st half of the day, the other half is available for the 2nd half of the day. The were several misspellings and wrong translations. The waiter brought out chips and salsa, but as you can see from the picture attached, it was just tomato juice. There was no heat, nor flavor. There are no fresh “aguas”. I ordered mozzarella sticks and the beef enchiladas with a meat sauce. The mozzarella sticks were battered, which made them extremely salty. The waiter brought me chicken enchiladas with a green sauce, not what I ordered. The food was not delicious. Food out of a can tastes better than what they serve here. Save your stomach and taste buds….. DO NOT GO HERE!!!

JoJo’s Pizzeria Linglestown Rd. – Menu with Prices – 2256 Linglestown Rd, Harrisburg

I can only assume this Jo Jos Pizza is part of the ownership tied to the one in Hummelstown. However, based on the difference in quality I hope it isn’t! This Jo Jos is new to the area and is trying to get established but is falling short in numerous areas. The restaurant is clean for the most part, but for the limited patrons on site I was a little disappointed in the trash on the floor and crumbs on the tables. We got a pizza and it was good but definitely nothing special. The crust was a bit on the soft side, almost like it needed another minute in the oven. They go VERY light on the sauce and the cheese is a blend containing more than your standard mozzarella. This isn’t a bad thing but something I feel patrons should know. When it comes to pricing Jo Jos is higher than peers. For reference: A slice of cheese is $2.25, five wings are $6.25, six mozzarella sticks are $5.79, seven jalapeño poppers are $6.99. Overall this Jo Jos doesn’t do anything “wrong” but also isn’t doing anything to make themselves stand out.

Slice of Italian Heaven – Menu with Prices – 4985 W Irlo Bronson Memorial Hwy, Kissimmee

This place is an end to end disaster. Order pizza/wings from ANYWHERE else. Delivery took over 2 hours for 2 pizzas, some onion rings, and some mozzarella sticks. When the items finally arrived, they were cold (obviously) and they “must have forgotten” the 2nd pizza. The delivery girl backed off $14 at the door. When I got upstairs, I found the mozzarella sticks void of cheese, packed in the same container as the onion rings, and surrounded by dirty ketchup packets (no marinara). When I called back to the store to speak with a manager, I was told the manager was not going to be in until 10:30 PM and that the store was “a cluster f**k” right now. I was given the mobile number of “David” and was asked by the cook to send him a text to discuss a cash refund. I sent an informative text but have yet to receive any form of response. I really wish I had looked this place up before calling a number on a flyer. Believe EVERY review on this site. This establishment is truly 1 star.

Aurellia’s Bottle Shop & Brewhouse – Menu with Prices – 1620 N Resler Dr, El Paso

We’ve been meaning to try this place ever since they started working on getting it ready! We were sweetly greeted by the mom (co-owner) as she opened the door for us! We never made it inside as we wanted to eat outside. The tables on the side are for drinks (a couple was playing a game and enjoying their beer & wine). The front is for dining. Our menus were delivered and our waiter soon took our order. They have an eclectic selection of beer n-house brewed beers including lagers and IPA’s; and other craft beers. They also have a great selection of wines. We ordered the Panzanella and the Carnivore Pizza. The Panzanella had a great selection of ingredients and the dressing went so well with the veggies; it was very tasty. They must have a brick oven as their pizza tasted like it came from one. It’s a thin crust that was outstanding. When the pizza arrived, there was oil from the mozzarella on the crust, which means they use a top brand of mozzarella! The pizza had pepperoni, bacon and sausage on it. It was one of the best pizzas I’ve eaten in El Paso. We never made it inside to check it out, but will next time we eat here.

Clipper Mill Inn And Lounge Menu with Prices 1619 Union Ave, Baltimore

I love a good dive bar, as you know, and the Clipper Mill Lounge definitely qualifies as a dive bar, but it’s much more than that. It’s got the traditional spotty history, fights and colourful clientele that any good dive bar has, but it’s also a neighbourhood bar. It may be somewhat hard to spot for the uninitiated from the outside (don’t look for a sign, there isn’t one), but once inside it wears its colours well, plenty of bar neon, football and NASCAR posters and even a decent pool table with appropriately stained felt. But it’s the clientele that rise above the average dive bar patrons. Everyone has a story and is willing to tell it to you, it’s probably the happiest group of day drinkers I’ve met in a dive bar. I met the current owner, Rob, when he offered me his stool at the bar. He explained a little of the bar’s history to me (yes, it got the name, “The Bloody Bucket” unofficially due to the number of fights the establishment endured before his tenure). He seemed like a genuinely nice guy who liked the bar biz (hard to find in dive bar owners) and more importantly, his clientele. It’s got the standard dive bar menu; strong drinks, cheap prices, but I really can’t over emphasize the neighbourhood feel of the bar. It took me back to the days when bars were meeting places for the locals and where the great inventions/ideas of the day were thought up over a tasty beverage. So whether you call it The Bloody Bucket, The Bottom (because it’s at the bottom of a hill) or the Clipper Lounge, it’s a great little dive bar that deserves a visit from anyone who likes a cheap drink and a good story.

Smoke BBQ Pit – Menu with Prices – 129-21 Merrick Blvd, Jamaica

This was my first time visiting this location. I have heard mixed reviews about this establishment and decided to give it a try. There was a party of four in my group to dine in. When we first entered no one was there to greet us. We did not know if we had to seat ourselves or wait for someone to greet us. We proceeded to the takeout counter & the cashier there instructed us to sit anywhere. Her attitude was very nonchalant. Our server was a male with a short high top Afro; the one like Kid from “Kid N play.” He was a cool guy. No complaints with him. He came & took our order and went on his way. The food was good! We had mozzarella sticks which were cold ! We sent them back which we normally never do (send back food) but they arrived better even though they probably just heated it up super fast cause they served us the same exact order which was fine. I also had fries which were good. The onion rings were okay. My guests had cheeseburgers which they said was really good and I had chili “something” wings. We also ordered coladas. I had a Virgin strawberry colada and my guests had mango & another had Henny colada which they said were super strong! Haha . The bill was about $100 for 2 burgers , 2 orders of mozzarella sticks, Onion rings, fries and 12 piece chili teriyaki wings along with a Henny , mango, and strawberry colada plus a strawberry lemonade. Oh I forgot to mention that I didn’t like that they advertised this new flavor of wings but charge a $1 extra for them because I don’t recall seeing the $1 extra charge on the menu but it was on our receipt but it wasn’t a big deal. Overall this was cool place, the service was decent and the food was good.

Upside Down Plaza Menu with Prices 2012 Magnolia Ave S, Birmingham

The upside down Plaza is basically a dive bar with a long history in Birmingham dating back to the 60s in its original location and the 80s in its current underground location. The owner has been the same since opening and the bartender (Kimbo) has been there almost as long. There are six or seven pool tables which make it easy to shoot pool without competing against other patrons for the tables. The clientele is diverse, the drink prices are reasonable and the staff is cool. Periodically they have free pool Fridays where the pool tables are open at no charge. There’s no food served but you can bring food in with you. The fun & friendly staff can be found at the bar watching Sports or the Big Bang Theory while patrons freely interrupt the casual atmosphere with their choice of music over the jukebox system which can be utilized at the jukebox or from your smartphone if you download the app. If you like a dive bar with a welcoming chill atmosphere then you’ll probably love this place. The only criticism I would give is their pool sticks leave a lot to be desired, so if you have your own, you might want to bring it. There’s also a water intrusion that was recently caused by construction at the hotel above causing the floor to be wet in the back corner near the rear pool table, which just happens to be my favorite spot =( …Hopefully that will get corrected soon.

Las Brasas Seafood tacos & Grill – Menu with Prices – 2501 E Platte Ave, Colorado Springs

Loved this place. Drove by it and decided to try it. Upon entrance, we were greeted my family and I instantly with warmth and happiness. The waitress was very helpful and very nice the whole time. It was not busy because it is newly opened but I’m honestly surprised. Music greeted us after and it felt like we were entering a Mexican vacation. The tables were presented elegantly and the walls decorated with warm color and nautical decoration. The menus were clear to read and presented colorfully with pictures of the food and described well. We were given chips and 3 dips of various spice intensity. Our drinks were large and very filling. Finally, the food…was off the hook. I loved every bite. It tasted like good homemade food. The tortillas are freshly handmade. And the dessert…omgooodness. Please go to this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed.
