2nd time coming to a Fruitealicious, 1st time at this location. Eh, the one off Preston’s better. We went there on a Sunday afternoon after having a quick bite at a place next door and they were quite busy, the shop was hot and mucky, and there was a 10min wait. The person operating the register–bless her heart–was trying her best to keep up and the other 2 people were dishing out drink after drink nonstop. You can tell they were frazzled, but still courteous. Bonus points for keeping their composure. Something I always complain about is the gotdang menu at Fruitealicious. It’s too hectic and the 1 at this location’s no exception. I never know where to start. I wanted a taro milk tea with tapioca and I wasn’t even sure if that was an option because the menu was so damn “extra.” It was an option and it tasted okay. A bit on the sweet side, like maybe it has a honey base or something. My husband got a black lychee tea with mango pops and he seemed to like it, though it was quite sweet for him too. If I’m in the neighborhood, absolutely desperate for bubble tea, I’ll ask myself if I really, really want it–weighing all the pros and cons. If I vote yes, then I’ll stop here. If not, I’ll wait and go to my usual spot.

Black Pearls Tea Bar Menu with Prices 2630 S Parker Rd, Aurora

I have visited this boba place multiple times since it has first opened. Initially it was very good, they have a multitude of different drinks and have recently expanded their food menu as well as finally fixing their ice cream machine. My usual drink was the Taro Milk Tea with boba and after my visit today with my friend, I will never go here again. After a very long wait, my order was called and they had messed up my order. Instead of a Taro milk tea, which the person who took my order repeated after me confirming what I had ordered, instead when I got my drink it said on the receipt Thai milk tea. I informed them that they had gotten my order wrong and when they remade my drink it was absolutely disgusting. Taro at Black Pearl is a powdered tea that requires shaking, the person who had made it did not leave it on the machine long enough because when I started drinking it, the milk and powder began to separate almost as soon as I walked out of the door. Usually the boba at this place is pretty good quality, but today it was undercooked, making it inedible. And for the final straw, I was drinking my Taro Milk Tea with Boba when I bit down on something much harder than boba. Spitting it out, it was some sort of disgusting NOT FOOD item that was like black char/paint mixed in with the boba. Looking closer at my drink I realized that there were black flecks floating in with the drink and around the straw. Sad to say their quality and service have gotten this low. Definitely avoid this place!

7 Leaves Cafe – Menu with Prices – 18547 S Western Ave, Torrance

Based on the previous yelp reviews and all the hype about this chain, I thought 7 leaves cafe would be my new go-to place. Sadly, this place fell below expectations. The venue is small, with a long table and a bench. its mainly a grab and go place. They offer a decent selection of milk teas including Jasmin, Oolong, and Taro Milk Tea. They also serve strawberry croissants which looked good, and macarons. However, I just wanted the drinks, so I went for the Assam Milk Tea, which according to the menu is “black tea carefully balanced with real sugar and milk” and the Jasmin Milk Tea with the option “lightly sweetened with honey boba,” for my mom. the service is good, I got my drinks within minutes of ordering and then I left. But the downside is that the drinks were loaded with sugar. Now, if you are reading this and love sweet drinks, then this would be the place for you. Sadly this place doesn’t allow you to adjust the sugar levels. I tried getting both drinks with no sugar and they said the most they can do is make it “lightly sweetened” So I did that for the Jasmin Milk Tea. Sadly, the this store and I have different definitions for the words “lightly sweetened.” The Assam Milk tea was supposed to have this bold flavor of black tea, but that was negligible when doused with a concentrated amount of sugar. To top it off, I think they were out of boba and didn’t tell me or somehow confused the word “boba” with “Aloe Vera” because I ended up with a Jasmin Milk Tea with Aloe Vera instead of Honey Boba. We ended up throwing the drinks away. So, I will try and come back just for the pastries. While they offer stamp cards, I doubt I’ll be back for the drinks anytime soon.

Tapioca Express – Menu with Prices – 1480 Eastlake Pkwy Ste.903, Chula Vista

3 stars because I have high expectations from tapioca express. I love my thai tea with boba. I had a craving for a cup last night but the usual tapioca express I go to was closed. So with the help of Google I found this one. Filled with relief and joy I gladly drove the 16 minutes to this restaurant. I ordered my usual drink. Except this drink did not taste like the drink I desired. It tasted like heavy cream or condensation milk. I couldn’t taste the black tea.I understand the aspects of milk tea but it was to much milk…. To top it off the boba was hard and unfresh as if they were left out to dry and the effort to salvage them was useless. Overall the customer service was great the atmosphere was nice too. I just wont visit this place again at 10pm. Lesson learned

Feng Cha Teahouse – Menu with Prices – 2701 Custer Pkwy, Richardson

My current favorite place for boba in DFW right now. The cafe is really cute and lets in a lot of natural light. It seems like a great place to read, study, or meet up with friends as there is quite a bit of space with plenty of seating and tables. Feng Cha has some of the most unique boba drinks in DFW that I’ve seen so far, and a variety of milk foam caps you can add on (taro, cheese foam, sea salt, matcha, etc), so Feng Cha gets major points for that! You can also adjust the sweetness of your drink here, which is a must for me in a boba shop. I enjoyed my rose oolong with the addition of matcha milk foam (70% sweet). This combo went pretty well together and I thought the matcha tasted pretty good. I tried it with taro milk foam once as well and this was not my favorite combination. I thought the taro was on the sweeter side, which was a negative for me. I’ve also tried the dirty boba (70% sweet), which was pretty delicious at first. It has cheese milk foam and brown sugar on top. After a while though I realized I couldn’t finish it. It is super rich, creamy, and sweet. If you want something more decadent, this might be the drink for you! We also tried the afternoon tea matcha cake. Unfortunately, it was just alright. It looked very pretty though. It was disappointing that the matcha milk foam was just thrown over some basic pound cake. I think it would be a hit if they introduced the first Japanese souffle pancakes in DFW and then they can throw the milk foam over that. It seems like that’s getting pretty popular right now. Overall, I can’t wait to try more drinks and milk foam combinations! There is also a Feng Cha in Carrollton now, which is closer to me! YAY! Summary- Favorite Drink: rose oolong with matcha milk foam cap (70% sweet) Business tip/gold mine idea: Ditch the pound cake and introduce the first Japanese Souffle pancakes in DFW on your menu, so you can throw milk foam on top of that!!

Chatime Fullerton – Menu with Prices – 410 E Chapman Ave Suite B, Fullerton

Wow! I am impressed! I had heard of this place once before and I remember ordering a boba here while I was in Sydney a year ago. I was excited to find out that another one opened up that was a lot closer than the other location. (The one in Rowland Heights is pretty far from where I live) I will say one thing though: it was pretty complicated how to get into the parking lot and we ended up parking at a neighborhood and walking to the place. I understand though that the location, being next to homes and a university, would make it harder to make an easy entrance to the parking lot. Anyways, I ordered the taro milk tea with cheese foam and boba and I really liked the cups they put the drink in! Similar to Jie Boba or BobaTEAque. My first sip was very tasty, but I made the terrible mistake of getting cheese foam with the taro. I decided to mix it up and it tasted pretty horrible after that. I do not recommend getting the taro milk tea with cheese foam… The drink wasn’t too sweet and the boba was just right. Not too overcooked (not too soft), and not too undercooked (not too hard). Next time, I will be sure to order any of the drinks WITHOUT cheese foam. But overall, the drink was great at the start, the service was great, and the employees were nice.

Happy Lemon Menu with Prices 1645 140th Ave NE # B8, Bellevue

I’ve been to this happy lemon around 3 times since it’s a convenient location for me and have had really high hopes, but I’ve been pretty let down. One thing I liked was the decor and aesthetic of the place since they had air plants as decoration! The service is consistently polite and friendly as well! What’s not so great is the actual bubble tea. I ordered a taro milk tea and when I first tasted it I wasn’t sure if I actually ordered a taro milk tea since it tasted like a plain milk tea. If it had been a plain milk tea it would have been alright (3/5) but since it was supposed to be taro flavor it was really disappointing (1/5). The more I drank it I tasted small amounts of the taro flavor, but it wasn’t very convincing. My friend got the matcha avocado drink and it too was disappointing since neither of us could taste any matcha. As a plain avocado drink it was ok (3/5) but since it was supposed to also taste like matcha it was very subpar (1/5). Another time I got a plain milk tea with the taro pearls (4/5) and I would recommend the taro pearls since they are a fun alternative to boba! The biggest redeeming quality about the place is their bubble waffles(5/5)! If they aren’t too busy you can get a half and half bubble waffle (half chocolate half original). I’m not sure which I prefer since the chocolate flavor is subtle and the original is a little sweeter. Neither are very sweet which I liked. These waffles are chewier than normal waffles so it’s up to your personal preference if you like them. They also offer crema to dip the waffles in (2/5)but it was too sweet and buttery for my liking so I wouldn’t recommend. Overall, the drinks have been underwhelming, but I’ll definitely be back for their bubble waffles! Maybeee I’ll try one of their drinks again later to see if they actually have the flavors listed in the name of the drink. *the numbers in parentheses are my rating of each item out of 5 stars so (4/5) means 4 out of 5 stars.

Thai Bistro 98 – Menu with Prices – 8200 West 98 Hwy, Pensacola

The people that works there are different from our first time there which is 6 months ago,we came back yesterday and it was so bad.We waited long time to get our water and even the time we needed to see the menu to order. As we ordered i said mine would be mild and my husband wants spicy like hot spicy bc usually thai place would ask you what type or level u want the man said we have to tell them bc they dont actually do that but weve been there and most of thai place does that it will also show on the menu. The food look so diff how it was cooked of course the taste as well did not say anything so for me to at least make it better ordered boba taro.i i said can i pls have some taro he said what kind of taro?? I said taro boba smoothie, were the only customer there we can hear the blender running long time my taro is so liquid already and he gave it to me said sorry no tapioca i said sir sorry this is not how it supposed to look and color is supposed to be purple its white and just liquid he said maybe its the weather thats why its diff smh,we left we paid everything. The insult is the worst part when you have been eating and drinking that from diff places and color and taste is very different and still you will hear lies and excuses. We are so polite to explain and i cook too I understand that some place might make it diff but theres not even a lil near of how that food supposed to be like that or the drink

Cents Taro Family – Menu with Prices – 9534 Lee Hwy, Fairfax

What a great addition to Fairfax! Cents Taro Family offers authentic taro ball desserts, in addition to porridges and teas, using all locally-sourced organic ingredients. The hubs and I came here to check out their cold coconut-based dessert soup, filled with sweet milk cream, mung beans, sweet red beans, herbal jelly, and silken tofu cubes – it was SO GOOD! It wasn’t overly sweet, and you can taste the care and the high quality/freshness of each of the ingredients! Just imagine a subtly-sweet ‘milk tea’ with various toppings, presented in a bowl. I was a little hesitant with the herbal jelly, but it’s not the typical cube-like ones you find in bubble tea – these were literally chunks and it was freshly made! There wasn’t much of a strong taste to each of the items – each of the beans were perfectly cooked, and there were some crushed ice towards the bottom that kept the dessert cold. We also tried one of their specials – a fresh lemon iced tea – there may have been a slight hint of honey in there, but it was pretty much unsweetened – great refreshing drink to have with your dessert bowl! Staff were super friendly! Don’t hesitate in asking them about the menu or to show them pictures of items that you’re intrigued/curious about! They’re very helpful and kind! There are seats, but limited – when we were there, we had to wait a few, but a party was generous enough to share a portion of their table! Can’t wait to come back and try out their housemade taro balls and the rest of their menu! +tasty cold desserts! +locally-sourced and organic! +friendly staff! +plenty of parking! +located next to Heat

The Moo Bar – Menu with Prices – 2124 Westlake Ave, Seattle

stumbled upon this place (aka found it on Yelp) after a day at the Seattle Center exploring the Space Needle, MoPop and Science Center. Started walking back to my hotel and decided I wanted some milk tea so headed here. I got here just as it started raining hard…ordered my milk tea (Moo Bar special which is just black milk tea), no boba and 50% sweet. My dinner reservation wasn’t until 8 so got a regular egg waffle too! $10.75 later I waited for my drink + snack. I kinda love the signs that say no ticket no drink. Lol, maybe that’s just me? The lady in front of me ordered an egg waffle with ice cream and toppings. It was such a pretty presentation and totally Instagramable. My plain egg waffles were given to me in a paper bag lol. But they were piping hot and delicious so it’s ok. Definitely pricier than the $1-$1.50 from the egg waffle cart lady on the side of NYC Chinatown but it hit the spot. My tea was good too. Perfect level of sweetness for me and you can taste the tea. I gave them an extra star even though this place is on the more expensive side from what I’m used to paying for milk tea – $5.75 before tax? But they give you a reusable jar!! The Halloween themes Totoro one I got is extra cute and kudos to the store for trying to be more eco-friendly (even though they still have plastic straws).

The Bomb Teashop – Menu with Prices – 1000 Sunrise Ave Ste 4A, Roseville

I saw the grand opening for Bomb Tea Shop advertised on Instagram, so we decided to stop in for buy one get one free drinks. There were only two people working (I think they were the owners) so the wait times were a bit longer, but totally expected for a brand new business. Our visit was only 20 minutes from when we arrived to when we left with our drinks in hand, so it wasn’t bad at all compared to some other wait times I had heard about. As for the drinks, they were delicious! I ordered a Thai green tea and added cheese cream on top. The cream was perfectly sweet, and the Thai green tea was so flavorful. I almost never see Thai green tea on the menu at milk tea places, so I knew I had to get it! We also tried their taro bomb, thanks to that photo in the window, because it just looks so pretty! If you have had any puff cream drinks at other places, it’s pretty similar. They spread the cream on the inside of the cup to make that cloud effect, and they have taro, matcha or thai tea. Once you mix your drink, the cream just adds another level of flavor to the taro milk tea, and it was so yummy! They had a lot of tasty drinks on their menu so I can’t wait to come back and try more. They could use some improvements on their menu display, since it’s pretty small, but luckily they have printed menus to look at too. Some of the items could use descriptions too, such as the Bomb Bomb Family milk tea, or the Bomb Ice Cream. They might get some more people ordering it, and less people asking what it is, if they include a description on the menu. And once they get a good system going and maybe some additional staff, I’m sure the wait times will improve, so don’t let that discourage you from trying out The Bomb Tea Shop…they have earned their name in my book!

Tokyo Teriyaki & Wok – Menu with Prices – 7405 Hardeson Rd #D, Everett

Never going back here. I work close by and have come here several times a month for bubble tea. I prefer a place by my home in Marysville (teryaki point) but since this is by my work I settle. My bubble tea is never blended well so the coffe powder is an extreme taste. Today I got my usual bubble tea with extra tapioca. The tapioca was clumped in a ball and I drank half of my drink till I was able to get tapioca. By the time I got to it, it was disgusting and falling apart. Usually boba is chewy and delicious but not this. Very gross. I told the woman my issue and she said the people in back told her it was fine. They held up the container and it was all smushed in the corner. I watched the man hold one in his had and smeared it across his fingers. THATS NOT NORMAL that happens when it’s old! She said they make it fresh every day. She kept saying she could re make it without boba or with jelly I told her no if I wanted that then I would have ordered that. The whole point of getting the drink with extra boba is for the damn boba. I spoke with her for a while and she took my drink away… I did not get my money back either. My ride had been waiting 20 minutes I had to leave. I spent 5$ on literaly nothing. Also 5$ is alot for bubble tea I’ve never spent more then 3.25$.

Verve Coffee Roasters – Menu with Prices – 2101 Market St, San Francisco

This is a great option to kinda splurge when you need a break from those basic chain coffee shop drinks! It is on the pricier side, but it’s definitely cause they use higher quality ingredients and you can tell! I came in around lunch time and ordered an iced honey latte made with soy as well as their avocado toast with a poached egg. This was probably the best avocado toasts I’ve ever had! I like how the avocado spread was still pretty chunky (which is how I like it) and it was seasoned perfectly with the coarse ground black pepper on top that added a nice little kick. The pickled red onions on top also added a good crunch and acidity that complimented the creaminess of the avocado very well. Do yourself a favor too and add the poached egg – it’s an extra $2 but it’s well worth it! The drink I had was also pretty good; I don’t like my drinks too sweet and I was scared that the honey latte was going to be, but it had just the right amount of sweetness for me! I’ll definitely be back here some time!
