Walking in, I immediately recognized the man at the register. It was killing me because I couldn’t figure out where I knew him from … then the light bulb went off ! He is the owner of Green Papaya on Fresno and Clinton. In that instance, I knew the food was gonna be goooood. First off, I am happy for the success of Green Papaya. It has allowed him to open up this new little gem off First and Olive and I’m here for it! Interior is clean and the dining section is adorable. Love the ceiling design along with the detailed wall paintings. Customer service is great, they let me substitute white meat in my dish with no up charge. The spring rolls were so fresh and so cheap! Cheaper than most places ($3.95). My pad kee mao dish was bursting with flavor and crisp veggies, loved the drunken noodles as well. On the other side of the dining is a mini-mart with tons of goodies, they also have chicken and sticky rice combos to-go. It is essentially Green Papaya twofold. Looking forward to my next visit !

Pho Green Papaya – Menu with Prices – 13215 SE Mill Plain Blvd Ste C2, Vancouver

Daughter took me here because it’s been cold and wet all day. Really nice relaxed atmosphere. We were sitted right away and was given a menu. The waiter was friendly and already have us our water. So many to choose from but we knew were going to eat Pho. Took awhile for me to decide but I’m the end, my daughter and I we’re ordering the same. I can’t remember the number but it was flanked steak and we added meat balls. I always eat my Pho with a sandwich. The waiter recommended to try grilled bbq pork. So I did. For appetizers we ordered shrimp spring rolls. It comes with peanut dipping sauce. I was already excited anticipating our meal! Within minutes, spring rolls were served. My kid and I dived right in. So yummy and refreshing! Light in the guts too. I had room for more that is coming lol… I didn’t even count to 10 when my sandwich arrived! It was a pretty long sandwich like a sub. I had to cut it in half. It was toasted and warm. Now people, you must eat all your veggies that comes with the sandwich! It gives it that authentic flavor that is out of this world. Without the veggies, it’ll be just an ordinary sandwich. So you must EAT the veggies! Finally the Pho. I must say, the broth itself is soothing for the soul. Ahhhhhh! Yummmm!! So much meat in it and this is by the way is a regular size bowl. Their servings are plentiful. Not unless you haven’t eaten for a few days then I recommend you order regular.so much noodles and meat and the veggies again, you must eat all your veggies!! Overall, the service, the food and atmosphere will definitely make me come over and over again. Thank You Pho Green Papaya! I’m coming for more!

Bambuza Pearl District – Menu with Prices – 100 NW 10th Ave #3107, Portland

My Girl and I were in Portland on holiday and stopped in on a whim at lunchtime on Monday. We ordered several items to share: Yellow Curry with shrimp Green Papaya Salad with shrimp Bambuza salad rolls with shrimp Crispy Spring rolls First the presentation was nice and the wait staff brought our food out fairly quickly. I know reading other reviews that wasn’t what we had read. They also brought us plates to share our dishes. This is not a full service restaurant you order then sit and they bring you your food. So for the food: The green papaya salad was good and refreshing however the shrimp on top was bland and not an addition I would recommend. The crispy spring rolls were very good and the sauce compliments them well. The Bambuza roll was good but had a very strong taste of herbs which make it taste fresh but the mint slightly overpowers the dish. The peanut sauce does compliment and tame the mint some. The shrimp in the Bambuza rolls were also bland. The yellow curry, of all the dishes I eat this the most frequently, was okay. The vegetable didn’t gain the flavor of the curry the way I prefer but it wasn’t a poorly composed dish either. The shrimp again was bland. The rice with the curry was well cooked. I wouldn’t stop anyone from coming here but I can say that it isn’t on the level of other places I frequently go.

Tran’s Seafood – Menu with Prices – 3346 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Fort Myers

Don’t let the name fool you because this is NOT a seafood restaurant, it’s an awesome tiny Vietnamese restaurant and supermarket! We have been there several times and so far we have had the Pho, egg rolls, spring rolls and bahn mi. The egg rolls and spring rolls are the perfect pairing because the hot crunchiness of the egg rolls are an excellent companion to the cold, crisp freshness of the spring rolls. The bahn mi is very tasty but the Pho is where it’s at. The broth has so many layers of flavor that you can tell it’s the real deal and make sure you come hungry because the bowls are huge! We always get the Pho Dac Biet (Special Beef Pho) because we love everything in our Pho but you can order it any way you want it if you’re scared of tendon or tripe. But don’t be afraid because it’s all delicious!

Saigon Block – Menu with Prices – 2150 Arapaho Rd, Richardson

This was the best Vietnamese dining experience ever. The food was delicious and the authentic. We ordered the medium sized baked fish for a party of four and it was plenty. The fish was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I was surprised how moist the fish was considering it was baked. I expected it to be dry, but instead it was moist. There were sprinkles of toasted garlic and green onion covering the fish that helped compliment the soft fish. There’s plenty of leafy greens and herbs for the spring rolls that came out with the fish. The combination of the warm crispy fish with the fresh vegetables feels light and flavorful. The textures in this dish was helped enhance flavor of each wrap. We also ordered the imperial spring rolls and beef three way. We ate the beef rolls by wrapping it in lettuce and dipping it in the sauce. I really enjoyed the imperial spring roll. There was what felt like a crispy egg roll wrapped in the inside. When I bit into the spring roll it was warm and savory.

Jade Flames – Menu with Prices – 8600 Cottage Hill Rd, Mobile

Finally got to try this restaurant… and very happy I did. Ordered the Jade Banh Mi, egg rolls, and an iced coffee. The banh mi was wonderful, crusty bread, crisp veggies, and meat with actual flavor. A wonderful combination, if you are adverse to spice ask them to leave the jalapeños off. The egg rolls were wrapped in spring roll wrappers not wonton wrappers, the filling is very flavorful and the dipping sauce pairs well, think of it like duck sauce with a little kick, just a little though. Now the iced coffee, where to start… imagining the strongest coffee you make at home reduced down to be even stronger then add evaporated milk and little to no sugar. IT IS AWESOME!!!!! Definitely not for everyone, especially if you don’t like the flavor of evaporated milk, my mom used in her hot tea so is a familiar flavor for me. Oh yeah… Pho on Saturdays !!! Great little place with a small menu done very well, give them a try.

Pho Vietnam – Menu with Prices – 8602 W 133rd St, Overland Park

Living in Lawrence I don’t get a lot of options to have a good bowl of pho. This is one thing I miss about Wichita. We were excited to try Pho Vietnam after a day of running around and my son is a big Pho fan, it’s his first choice if he’s allowed to pick dinner. When you first walk in the restaurant is clean and inviting. They sat us right away because we came at slow time and quickly served water without even having to ask. We opted to get the crab Rangoon and spring rolls for an appetizer. Those were both really good ! The crab Rangoon filling was flavorful, had a good amount of meat, and was crispy. The spring rolls had flavor which was good because there are times I’ve had spring rolls and they jus taste like rice paper. The peanut sauce for dipping was delicious as well ! If I could have just got the spring rolls I would have been happy with my whole meal ! I opted for the P1 which is a more simple bowl of pho with the steak and my son got the same with no meat. The broth was full of flavor but the portion was smaller than I anticipated it to be. All the veggies I received on the side were fresh. The only down fall were the noodles felt like they had been cooked before put into the broth so after a couple minutes good too mushy for my liking. All in all I was happy with my order ! We also had the pork chop which was a little overdone and had a marinade that was almost candy sweet like which after a few bites is a bit off putting. My husband got the charbroiled pork fried rice and it was ok but it wasn’t like WOW this is so good I’ll get it again. Overall I’m glad I finally got a decent bowl of pho and I’ll probably just stick to ordering only noodle soups here.

Ginger Street SLC – Menu with Prices – 324 S State St Suite 150, Salt Lake City

This newer restaurant, 4 Months open, is absolutely a culinary delight.! From the staff to the keen eye for customer service to the absolutely delicious food. Alex our waiter provided superior customer service. He provided a great explanation of the dishes, the flow of the meals and excellent food suggestions. The food was so good I wasn’t able to take picture before my family started eating! Okay so let’s talk food! Excellent selections and variety of Asian fusion and Thai styled dishes. A must is the crispy duck spring rolls. These pair the richness of the duck with fresh vegetables and a savory Asian dipping sauce. Green papaya salad is a perfect blend of the tangy green papaya with fresh crisp green beans, a tangy lime and chili vinaigrette and crushed peanuts. You must have the dry green beans. Perfectly sautéed and partnered with a soy based sauce. If you like wings…their gojicchang wings are a traditional Korean style favorite and perfectly cooked. Crispy, tangy, not over saucy, not too hot or too sweet. Now, the Tom kha gai soup is the best I have experienced across the country. Perfect texture, flavor and ingredients. This only comes in a cup size, but I would tell the chef to consider a meal size portions. Because people will love this as a meal. Thai the Thai basil chicken is also a great dish. Perfect blend of chicken, rice, vegetables and topped with a sunny side up egg. The Jellyfish beer is awesome. This is a local beer and it is refreshing, balanced and pairs perfectly with the flavors of the meal. Finally the Fried Banana dessert…well it will wave you speechless. Topped with their handcrafted ice cream this dessert is not cloyingly sweet…it is a perfect balance and you won’t want to miss it!

JJ Jasmine Thai Cuisine – Menu with Prices – 400 Walnut St, Des Moines

Spring rolls were good but on the small side. Their menu is appealing to me suggesting traditional favorites such as fried rice, lardna, pad thai and eggplant tofu. They have daily specials. The eggplant tofu dish was not very flavorful or spicy (asked for extra spicy). The eggplant, tofu and veggies were much too big and inconvenient to eat. The stars of the dish only had a few pieces and the veggies were way too undercooked. The tofu was a little dry and the eggplant was too mushy. I did get two scoops of rice which was nice. It looks like the Panda customers next door get heaping amounts of food unlike here. They do have a great help yourself hot pepper/spicy sauce bar, water and chopsticks. I may go back and give them one more try just for that. Don’t let the line scare you. Food comes out pretty fast (and undercooked). Bonus was they didn’t complain about me using a credit card for spring rolls which is unlike Gringos next door and Dooly’s.

N-zone Uptown – Menu with Prices – 1707 Telegraph Ave, Oakland

An elevated Lao fusion cuisine. If you like spicy, sweet with a little tang, they got exactly what you want. The Oaktown-grown owner knows exactly the right balance for the traditional Lao taste on some of the people’s favorite dishes. This house ain’t for them with a weak stomach. If you accidentally took a Lao-food virgin here, go with the fusion dishes like crispy papaya salad, garlic noodle, or the green chicken curry. For those who are blessed with the palate that can appreciate spicy food and the ability to distinguish Asian cuisines. Blessed be your tongue cuz you are in treat! Here are a must (to order): House-blend Lao sausage. If you love your bacon, this pork sausage tastes like if the pig had gone to the temple and redeemed themselves. The sausage tastes like a bacon’s rebirth. It is refreshing with some nice caramelized crisp on the outside and tender meat blend with spices that speak Southeast Asian all over it. Let’s just say that if I made sausage this good, my mama, nana and the aunties would be so proud. L’ chicken. Chicken wings will kick you in the mouth like nobody’s business. Crispy and with some thick sauce. It is strong! It would be the chicken wings that went through some tough sh*t and rose above. It took me a second bite in the middle of my meal (well past the appetizers) to truly understand and appreciate it. Green chicken curry. It was Insta-worthy, but how did it taste? It tasted like the Thai/Cambodian green curry that went to a Korean spa before it clocked in. It was tasty and I wasn’t mad at it. Savory, tender, but each ingredient didn’t lose its natural flavors. Papaya Salad. Coming here, I thought I knew what Thai and Lao papaya salads are. The crispy papaya salad is most definitely the American-born Laotian papaya salad. It’s like when you think you know English, then you go to New Jersey and they be talking like in Jersey Shore. It’s definitely like the California-style papaya salad minus the avocado (please don’t add avocado, like ever lol). Maybe almost like Lao meets South. They’re crispy brown and reminded me of the potato shoestrings. P.S. when in doubt, order a stout.

Phá»? Houston – Menu with Prices – 139 W Nolana Ave, McAllen

I came here without having Pho. I am kind of curios on how the Pho will tase the next time I visit and decide to have it. The service was not very friendly when we ordered and asked for things. I was not able to get a substitute for chicken on my dish, but that was okay because I had the pork vermicelli with vegetables and ended up liking it. There could have been a few more vegetables but it was okay. They had Pad Thai and it tasted a little different than what I am used to. I’d say it tased more like a Chinese noodle dish. I probably won’t have that again. Not sure if this is because this is a Vietnamese restaurant that it had a different taste. Their spring rolls were also okay. Overall it was a clean restaurant and decent. Not the best or worst Vietnamese restaurant that I’ve been to.

Original Cuisine Tucson – Menu with Prices – 1800 E Fort Lowell Rd #116, Tucson

Funny name, great food! We decided to come here for lunch one day and I’m so grateful we did! First, I’d recommend ordering one dish and maybe an appetizer for every 2 people. There were 3 of us and we each ordered a dish and an appetizer and rice! Woa! Way too much food, especially for lunch. Anyway, we ordered the shredded pork dish, but it was more like sliced pork. It had veggies, ginger, a bit of sauce, just super yummy. It was a bit spicy because some of the veggies were mixed with jalapeños. We also ordered the scallion pancakes. If you come here you must order these! They’re not actual pancakes, more like maybe quesadillas? Not sure, but they’re savory, not sweet at all. Next came the spring rolls. Good, nothing to write home about. But the best dish in my opinion was the fish in oil dish. It is served as almost a giant soup but it had great big pieces of white fish, potatoes, tarot root and tons of chiles. You don’t eat the chilies but the oil from them has a great flavor. And despite all of the chilies it’s actually not all that spicy. Overall a great meal and I can’t wait to return!

Vina L?u & ?c Restaurant Menu with Prices 100 W Pioneer Pkwy #156, Arlington

I’ve had this place saved on Yelp for awhile. Haven’t heard much of the place so I thought I’d make it my duty as an Elite to try it out and see whats good here. Took my GF here to try it out today. When ordering food, they give u a free appetizer. U get to choose from Egg rolls or Spring rolls. Well, I came for the Banh Beo and my GF wanted to try the BBH. I guess I got curious as well so I ordered BBH with Pho noodles. They brought out our Spring rolls and Egg rolls first. It was mediocre, but can’t say “No” to free food! Then our Banh Beo came out. OMG! It was sooooooo delicious. Good thing we ordered two orders of it. Haha. Well, they brought our BBH at the end… ehhh… the BBH was bland. I think they knew it would be bland cause they even brought out extra shrimp paste to add more flavor. It didn’t have pig feet in it.. kinda threw me off. Well, I didn’t care for it(BBH) so I just ate all the meat and went back to the Banh Beo. To sum everything up. I’d come back here for the BANH BEO only and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT! Stay away from the BBH.
