I HATE that I’m writing only a two stars review of this truck. I PREFER THE ONE ON THORNTON!!! First of all GREAT service, everyone is super nice. The location is right next to a car wash in a pretty big lot – That’s great for people to park and eat. The hours are a plus as well, most truck closes at 5pm or earlier. This place closes around 7 to 8 pm which is perfect for dinner. Now moving on to the reason why I give it a two stars. I judge most of my taco truck reviews based on the lengua and caveza tacos – this makes things more fair and it’s the only two taco meats I like to order. The lengua was good however, I definitely wasn’t mind blown. I think it was because the tortilla was a little thick or something was just slightly off. The caveza was really a miss for me – I felt like it was too dry for some reason (That’s usually not right – I always got fatty pieces or juices at other place). I’ll come back for the lengua but only for the lengua. However, I would make a trip to THORNTON or Niles over this place tho.

El Taco express #1 10th St – Menu with Prices – 4912 NW 10th St, Oklahoma City

You have to be pretty bold to park your taco truck just down the street from the iconic and outstanding Taqueria Sanchez. I’ve driven past several times, but decided today that it was time to stop by. I’m so glad I did. El Taco Express offers the standard taqueria truck fare: street tacos, burritos, tortas, etc. Most tacos are $0.99, with lengua and tripa tacking on another $0.50. They have some soft drinks, water and several varieties of Jarritos. I didn’t see any mention of horchata or aqua frescos. Per my typical first visit, I ordered carnitas, barbacoa and lengua tacos. All of the meats were tender and juicy. The carnitas had a good flavor, as did the barbacoa. I added a little green sauce to the pork, and red sauce to the beef tacos. Both were better than most, and within reach of the best. And while I’m thinking of it, the pickled carrot was nicely flavored. I don’t know what you do to make one pickled carrot better than others, but they need to keep doing what they’re doing. What really stood out was the lengua. It was perfect, and as much as I love the lengua at Taqueria Sanchez and Taqueria El Dolar, this edges them both. The texture and taste is amazing, and is well worth the extra change. So please give this place a try. I can’t imagine you would leave disappointed.

Tacos Del Chino – Menu with Prices – 2431 N Tustin Ave, Santa Ana

Yup, this place is delicious! My friends and I were craving some tacos after our fellowship meeting, and while we were looking up some late night restaurants, Tacos Del Chino popped up. This place had the best ratings of all the ones open when I was searching, so we thought why not. Thank GOODNESS we found this place.. they have all sorts of meats like cabeza, lengua, buche, and more, but I’ll settle with my fav, asada ? The asada was delicious, and they were some of the best tacos I’ve had in a while. Oh, and beware, the salsa is SPICY. My mouth was burning until the next morning, and would have burned for longer if I didn’t order the horchata (super delicious btw) to wash it all down. Overall, really great place to try. $1.65/taco for their “common” meats (like asada), and $2 for their “specialty” meats (I think lengua falls under this category). The restaurant is clean, well-maintained, and even the workers were tidying up the sauce/condiments bar frequently.

Tacos Y Antojitos Emanuel – Menu with Prices – 4015 Broadway Ave, West Palm Beach

Came here twice already with my classmates and I have to say that this taco truck is AMAZING. I got the alpastor tacos and the barbacoa tacos which were $2.00 and $2.25 each. The meet was perfectly marinated and so juicy. The tortilla is springy and fluffy when you bite into it and perfectly warmed up. Honestly, definitely recommend checking this place out. Super authentic and on par with the taco trucks I used to visit back in California. Definitely want to try the lengua tacos next and maybe a burrito.

Taqueira La Coyota – Menu with Prices – 6021 N Claiborne Ave, New Orleans

The best taco truck! Right in front of Winn Dixie on Chef Hwy. I know they have a few other la coyotas around the city and they are just as good. They just upped a few of the prices, but I’m not complaining bc everything is made to order and always delicious. The red sauce is my favorite! Most of the time it’s super spicy and I drench it on everything. The green sauce is more mild and good too. Gorditas – I always get the beef and they are always super juicy. Cheese, meat, onions, cilantro inside of a fried corn tortilla. The red and green sauces mixed together with some lime make it even better. Tacos – tortillas are corn. The meat you choose is usually cooked with onions and topped with cilantro. They’re so simple, so easy to eat, and you’ll always want more. I’ve tried all the meats and the beef and lengua are my favorite. Quesadilla – can’t go wrong with a beef or lengua quesadilla. Beef and Lengua – always super flavorful, juicy, yum as you can tell from above. Lol. Lengua is beef tongue, btw. Really depends on your preference Al pastor – I’ve tried this meat a few times and sometimes it’s a bit too salty.

MEXICO BONITO CATERING TRUCK – Menu with Prices – 40648 Fremont Blvd #4305, Fremont

Had to check out the new truck. All of the 5 star reviews made me have to try. Since it was my first time of course I got tacos, 4 of them $8. For $8 at a truck I should leave feeling satisfied right? Nope small street tacos, although a very nice presentation with the spiced onions and definitely Resturante quality I did not leave feeling I got an $8 fill. I think should have came with more meat for spending $8 at a truck on 4 tacos. Maybe should have a deal buy 4 get 1 and fill them. Or a 5 taco plate, nice and full of meat. I’m sure reviews would sky rocket and more people would come. At a truck you look for flavor and expect value and fill. Or at least I do or I’ll just go to a sit down. The meats: (best to last) Al pastor: the best meat I tried, cooked well, cut well, nice and spicy and juicy. He does a great job on this meat. I want to try the burrito with pastor but the burrito is $7 + .50 for all adds, cheese, sour cream, and what ever else. Idk Carne Asada: was pretty decent, I just didn’t have much in my taco to really grasp it. Taco should have been full. Chicken: to my surprise this wasn’t that great, and was cold? usually chicken is a go to easy always good and a staple. Honestly I like my chicken burrito filled with chicken so I look for a balance between taste and qty lol. Over all I give this truck 3.5 stars but this time I round down because I spent $8 and walked away hungry ? Am tempted to try that al pastor burrito but prob won’t be in a rush. Hopefully someone posts a pic and a review on how it was.

Academy Minimarket – Menu with Prices – 515 Peters Creek Pkwy, Winston-Salem

Tacos, tacos, tacos! Being new to Winston, I’ve been in the hunt for good tacos. I have tried a few places in and around town and off of Waughtown Road, but these are the BEST tacos I have found in Winston. The place is quaint. It’s a mini mart with a taco truck in the parking lot. At first, I wasn’t sure if the truck was open or not, but the friendly lady at the truck assured me it was. Let me be clear – This is not a restaurant and there are not any places to sit. You will get your food in a nicely packed to-go box and bag and have to haul it off somewhere to eat. (Note: I was so excited that I ate my tacos in my car in the parking lot.) I paid for my food inside the store and went out to the truck in the parking lot with my receipt to place my order. An order of 4 tacos runs about $6. I had the carnitas, barbacoa, and asada tacos and they were GREAT! Double tortillas warmed on the grill with fantastic meats, topped with onions and cilantro. My to-go box even had a little salad with cucumber, lettuces, limes and a spicy avocado salsa. I cannot wait to head back here for more TACOS!

El Novillo taco truck Parking Lot – Menu with Prices – Fruitvale Ave & E 10th St, Oakland

Review is of the tacos. Came here cos tacos Sinaloa was closed. Tried chicharron, tripas and lengua tacos. They come with salsa radish and scallions but I’m not sure how to eat the scallion (it’s not chopped) I’ll have to ask around or google. Tacos were well filled with meat. Chicharron was on the dry side here, so for me my favorite is still la penca’s chicharron tacos. The lengua here was excellent! My favorite. Tripas was also decent too but not the best one I’ve had. All in all a good experience. If you say for here your tacos will come on a plate covered in foil. To go they will be wrapped in foil and put in a bag. Boyfriend got al pastor burrito and he loved it. A decent spot, $2 per taco and was open on Sunday around 11 am.

Pollos Asados al Carbon – Menu with Prices – 2405 E Admiral Pl, Tulsa

i was informed about this food truck during the art crawl at kendall-whittier. thing is, i always saw this truck & always wanted to check it out & it would never come to mind. thanks to the recommendations while i was out in the area, checking it out wasn’t a question at that point. they have a special, 5 tacos for $5, so we went with 10 tacos. i had four: chicken, carne asada, barbacoa & chorizo. every single one of them were good! my favorite was out of the barbacoa (i have an infinity for bbq) & chorizo. they had 2 other selections that come with multiple meats, that’s something i’m definitely looking forward to next time. also, add some of that green sauce that’s placed on their tables, you can’t go wrong with that. service was on point. the tacos were made just like how i ordered them (i do NOT like onions) & it comes with a roasted jalapeno on the side. you really can’t go wrong with that 5 for $5, that way you can try most of their options. one of the top taco trucks tulsa has to offer.

Tacos El Bandido – Menu with Prices – 13231 Garden Grove Blvd, Garden Grove

This taco truck is a great addition to the Garden Grove/Santa Ana taco truck scene. This taco truck also stands out a bit from the rest. Not sure if it is their rendition of the recently acclaimed “Tijuana tacos” but expect your taco to be touched with a small paste of Avocado. Not necessarily your thickest and potent slab of avocado, but it will suffice to give your taco that complimentary texture and taste and goes well it taco meats. My girlfriend and I tried the cabeza, tripas and asada. Cabeza and al pastor was fairly good. I wouldn’t say it was the best. The same for asada. However, we both agree that this was the best asada in the area. They give you slightly bigger cuts here, some places makes you feel like your eating ground beef when really you are supposed to be eating steak… The standout is their corn tortilla. Around here is this a game changer. It tasted homemade and such a nice textural complement to the meat, sauce, cilantro, onions and avocado. The tortilla for the quesadilla was a bit thick for our liking. A bit worrisome if you are watching the carb intake. Downside is the amount of onions and cilantro they give you in the tacos, which was barely any. When you ask for extra they give you this tiny little bag. I prefer a condiment bar where you can choose to your liking. Overall, solid addition to Garden Grove/Santa Ana taco scene.

Chuy’s Night Club – Menu with Prices – Fresno

This is one of the best taco trucks in Fresno! If you are looking for really authentic tacos that taste amazing with tons of topping choices for not much money, this is your taco truck! Here’s why I love it: 1) The tortillas and meats: sooo good! Like at many other trucks, the tacos here are served with just the tortilla and meat so that you can customize them how you like them (see below). The tortillas are really good: they taste freshly made (not sure if they are actually making them in the truck, but they are super fresh none-the-less). The meats are good too: we tried four different meats, and all are yummy. I particularly recommend the al pastor, which is, in fact, cooked on a spit with fresh pineapple (the *only* way to cook al pastor!). Sooo good! 2) The toppings: there are a TON of different options, including both grilled and raw onions (go for the grilled!), beans, jalapenos, cabbage, cilantro, and five different types of salsa (the green is the best!). Also, if you do get al pastor, be sure to ask for fresh pineapple on top! 3) The price: soooo cheap! Most tacos are less than $2 each, so go ahead, eat as many as you want! Other menu options are really cheap too. 4) The staff: super friendly and fast! Why aren’t you eating here yet?!?!

El Rodeo Meat Market – Menu with Prices – 3545 Portland Rd NE, Salem

I’ve had a hard time catching them open for business. Today I finally lucked out and discovered why. Their hours are weekdays 1pm to midnight and weekends 4pm to 5am. I’m glad that I never gave up though. The guys that work there are really nice and the tacos were delicious. It seems like most places in the area charge $1 for the typical street taco and $1.50 for specialty meats like tripa and lengua, etc. El Padrino charges $1.50 for all of their tacos, but honestly, I didn’t mind because, as I said, they were really nice and the food was really good. I asked for 4 tacos, one tripa, and asked him to pick what meat to put on the other 3. I do this a lot because it is my belief that, having worked for many years in a restaurant, employees tend to know some secrets about what is best. Sometimes I get something that isn’t even on the menu! I frequently get a weird look and some comment about not knowing what to choose for me at other places. This guy was happy to help, and he chose well. The meats were cooked and seasoned well and the white onion and cilantro typical to street tacos was portioned just right. Another thing that I appreciated is that the tortillas didn’t break when the salsa got to them. At the same time, however, they were soft and sweet. Don’t go here if you think that what Baja Fresh and Taco Bell serve is Mexican food. This place is legit! The tables and chairs stand right on the dirt and the food is the way they make it south of the border, which is exactly what I was looking for! I look forward to going back and exploring their menu further!

Panchitos Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 2245 Bardstown Rd, Louisville

What to get: street tacos (especially the lengua) Time seated: 0 mins, self seated (Saturday at 6PM for 2) Time food arrived: 15 mins Ambiance: fast casual Parking: tight parking lot with few spaces, street parking? **$10 for 3 tacos, 1 drink, 1 ice cream deal!** ==The Food== ++Lengua Taco++ This one was my favorite! The flavoring was all there and the meat was tender. When I’m looking for street tacos, this is what I’m looking for. Reminds me of home back in California and anywhere that serves lengua is a tip off that they know what they’re doing. ++Fish Taco++ Another tasty one and a good choice. My favorite fish taco is still at El Mundo, but this is a rivaled 2nd. ++Shrimp Taco++ I found this one to be different than I expected. It has the sweet chili sauce, which makes me think of the sweet and sour sauce used in Chinese cuisine. I’m more of a savory type honestly, but if that’s your thing, go for it. ++Mangonada++ Alright, the famed dessert that everyone has to try here. Fresh mangos and mango sorbet covered with chamoy (sweet sauce) and tajin (lime, salt, chili powder) + a tamarind stick. Depending on how much they put of each, you’re in for a rollercoaster of flavors. I’d suggest balancing out some of the tajin with mango sorbet or it can get kind of salty. The tamarind is stuck on a straw pretty tightly, so you’ll have to rip it off with your teeth (kind of like a thicker fruit roll up). It’s a fun, interactive dessert to try. Personally I think once is enough for me, but I can see people returning just for this since it’s the most popular dessert on the menu. ==For Next Time== -Tacos: asada, pollo, carnitas -popsicles
