After living literally a few miles from this store for years, I finally ventured in. Partially due to the many good reviews and recommendations and also because I had a taco Tuesday craving and needed some meat! The parking lot is open and the price advertisements on the windows draws you in. They have a fantastic assortment of meat, chicken, pork, and seafood. The latter had already been put away before closing. I was told it was due to wanting to get home and watch the Angel game. Haha. It saved me from spending more! I’m calorie counting so I knew I didn’t require large amounts. Michael was extremely helpful. I chose the marinated carne asada and shoulder pork loin ribs. He weighed all the pieces so I could input them properly into the My Fitness Pap App. The cost seemed very reasonable for the quality and amount I received. Michael even threw in some seasoned beef jerkey he had made. It was a teriyaki flavor that would satisfy anyone’s taste buds. I can’t wait to go back here. They also have lunch meats, cheeses, some vegetables, and chips.

Orazure Hand Roasted Coffee Shop – Menu with Prices – 20311 Champion Forest Dr, Spring

This quaint coffee shop tucked away in the Grand Parkway HEB has hands down the best coffee I’ve had in the area. It’s a family owned business. Michael, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable when it comes to coffee. He gave me a crash course on a Sunday afternoon. He taught me how to properly make coffee at home, which has changed my mornings. I highly recommend purchasing his family roasted coffee beans, so you may experience amazing coffee at home. Michael has created some pretty interesting concoctions. One is the Michael Palmer, it’s a beverage with coffee and lemonade. The shop also has several Game of Thrones themed beverages. I do enjoy the fact that the lattes are made with homemade syrups. It really enhances the flavor. Bonus: Traci, his spouse, makes delicious baked goods. If you are in/near the HEB, I highly recommend you drop by and experience an amazing cup of Joe served with love.

Scott’s BBQ Menu with Prices 4007 Danielsville Rd, Athens

Had seen Scott’s featured on a show on the SEC Network and wanted to give it a try. Sure glad we did. Little off the beaten path, about 5 miles or so outside of Athens. The plain looking building, housed some terrific food with personal service. When we entered, it looked like a no-frills diner on the inside with 8 or so stools at a bar, and a few tables on either side. We took our seats at the bar and was greeted by a nice lady, who took our dine-in order. Ordered a rib plate, which came with 3 large pork ribs along with two sides, in this case, chose the collard greens and cole slaw. The ribs came with the choice of hot or mild sauce. The ribs were large and meaty, and the hot sauce was a perfect compliment to the flavor of the meat. A large piece of cornbread also came with the meal. As we started eating, a large jar of homemade chow-chow was also placed before us, and then a bowl of hash each was added to this feast. Throughout the meal, conversation with the nice lady made this a five-star experience. Before we paid and left, we were asked to sign the guest book and wish that we had brought a cap to add to the collection that hung around the wall, just below the ceiling.Prices were well below what they should have been for such fine food and the quantity served. Hope others see this review and take advantage of this off the beaten path gem.

Foodies Destination – Menu with Prices – 3324 Transcontinental Dr, Metairie

I’m a huge fan of asian food, but had never tried Korean. After hearing a lot of great things about this place I finally had the opportunity to try this amazing little food truck one afternoon for lunch. I’m not sure where their regular spot is/or if they have a regular spot, but I’ve seen them at both Tulane and LSU’s medical schools on various occasions. I looked over the menu and although several options seemed tempting, I decided to order the #1 (Bulkoki) which comes marinated sliced Angus beef over rice, a side salad with a spicy mayo dressing, kimchi and crispy pork dumplings. The folks working here are very kind and helpful, and the service is super quick. The steak is marinated and seasoned well. I was concerned because I know that sliced beef can easily be overcooked and become dry but that wasn’t an issue here, the steak was nice and juicy! I love that they put the steak over white rice to add a bit of flavor to the rice. The spicy mayo on the salad is seriously my new favorite dressing- they need to bottle this stuff up and sell it, because I’m addicted! I’ve asked for extra dressing on my last few visits because I like to mix some of it into my rice/steak for an extra kick. Then there’s the crispy dumplings, ohhh goodness! They are absolutely delicious. They’re perfectly crisp on the outside and filled with a combination of finely chopped pork and veggies. Teriyaki sauce is drizzled on top which complements the flavor and texture of the dumplings amazingly well. They offer a variety of other dishes including pork ribs, pork tenderloin, white meat and dark meat chicken, as well as vegetarian options (#6-tofu, and vegetable dumplings) which is great! I can’t wait to try more from their menu, but it’s going to be hard to not get the sliced Angus beef. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially in relation to the portion of the lunch plates. The portions here are plentiful, and the food is delicious! Stop by and see for yourself, and you’ll be happy you did.

Bawi Korean BBQ – Menu with Prices – 4121 S National Ave, Springfield

For $24.98, a nice and decent AYCE KBBQ joint. We drove down from St. Roberts just to give it a try. My sister and her family came by once and they loved the place, so now it was time for me to join them and see for myself. Remember, in Korean BBQ, cooking order is very important – start with non-marinated meats, then work towards marinated. This is important as if you mix the two, it’ll burn the grill and require it to be changed often. If you go from non-marinated to marinated, then there’s a good chance the grill doesn’t need to be changed. We made a reservation for 5:45, got there 5:20 and checked in, but did not get seated until 5:40pm. Why did it take so long? The hostess unfortunately, she was so flustered with so many folks checking in, the tablet not working and you can tell she was stressed out… after 20 minutes, they finally got their stuff in order. Once you check in, they will set up your table, then seat you. What does it mean by setting up your table? Basically they place your dishes, banchans, etc on the table. Once seated, the waitress will come by and ask: – what to drink – ask if we want rice – ask if we want spicy soup (only broth is served, it’s more of spicy napa soup) – then ask you what kind of meat you want. In terms of meat, this is what we had: – beef brisket x 4 – Pork Jowl x 1 – Pork Belly x 1 – Beef Bulgogi x 1 – Short Ribs (LA Kalbi) x 1 – Sirloin steak x 1 – spicy pork bulgogi x 1 – herb chicken x1 (small portion) Each order, you can ask for 2 meats – same or different – and depending on number in your party, they will bring the quantity. If you want less, just ask for less. The time (2 hour) starts the moment they drop off your first order of the meat, that’s when you can order your next meat selection. Banchans – their picked veggies was the best! I always take the soy sauce and make that into my dipping sauce. I pour the remaining sauce in a bowl, then dip the cooked brisket and then eat it with salad. Others banchans were okay, nothing special. Meat Review – reviewing from our favorite to least favorite. Beef Brisket – this was our favorite, not only because it cooks fast, but it has the right amount of meat to fat ratio. Spicy Pork Bulgogi – definitely must try! It was perfectly marinated and had just right amount of spice. This you have to eat with rice. Beef Bulgogi – good, our 3rd favorite meat. It was marinated very well! Sirloin Steak – we got 4 pcs for one order, I would recommend that you get 2 first and then order more if you like it. Its bit tough, cook it to medium and enjoy. So these were our least favorite: – Short Ribs/LA Kalbi – very chewy and tough to eat. Could have used more kiwi or asian pear to help break down the fiber to make the meat more tender. It also had too much fat on the meat. Herb Chicken – I did not try it, but nephew said no. I never order chicken items at AYCE Kbbq. Pork Belly/Pork Jowl – We ordered the pork belly and jowl once, but both times they served what they called jowl. Their jowl is not actual jowl… rather, they take the fattest cut of the pork belly, slice it into bite sizes. This is how they serve it and call it pork jowl, very misleading. I’ll forgive them for their Pork Jowl and the hostess breaking down… the server did an excellent job of meeting my demands, we kept her very busy – from ordering more meats, salad and side items to water. The waitress made up for other two mistakes!! If you are in the area and love or want to try Korean BBQ, give this place a try!

GD Barbeque Menu with Prices 2504 Government St, Baton Rouge

My husband brought home his leftovers for me…so thoughtful. Regardless it was delicious, some of the best BBQ I have had in a long time and the husband agreed too. The brisket was perfectly cooked and the ribs were excellent! The ribs had the right amount of pull when you bit into them…note ribs should not be “fall off the bone” that is called pat roast. Thank you to GD pitmaster for knowing how to properly cook ribs. The potato salad and beans were very tasty. I will return for my own meal very soon.

Taqueria El Poblano – Menu with Prices – 652 Broadway, Chula Vista

Yahoo! Sí, the street tacos here are very good! Muy Bueno y Ricos. For the time being, this Taqueria Food Truck is only opened during evening hours. 6 pm till 2 am daily respectfully. I arrived opening on a Friday evening and ordered two al pastor & two beef birria double wrapped street tacos at $2.20 a piece. The beef birria tacos were great, but one has to be careful because the salsa they put on the meat packed some heat. The beef birria was very tasty and even had a very nice aromatic appeal. I loved that it was juicy and tender, and they double wrapped the tacos. The al pastor tacos were delicious. The pork meat was well marinated and they cooked it very well. I liked that it was a mix of crispy pieces and tender pieces of pork. This taco came with chopped cilantro, white onions, and creamy guacamole that’s traditional with these particular street tacos in Mexico. Great stuff indeed. There’s no seafood at this truck, just carne asada, chicken, beef birria, and pork, not that there’s anything wrong with that. There’s a tent with table available. They have salsa available at the tables, and radishes, limes, and cucumbers at the truck. Service was friendly and Claudia was super helpful. I like that they bring the food to you at the tables.

Hot Spot Barbecue – BBQ – Menu with Prices – 901 E La Rua St, Pensacola

Hot Spot barbecue is the real deal. My friend brought me here insisting that I could get Texas quality barbecue in Pensacola Florida. Naturally, I was skeptical… But that was about to change. I ordered the brisket and ribs… no dice. All out. So I order the pulled pork and ribs… Strike two. “What is going on here?” And then it occurred to me… if they were sold out of everything, they must be doing something right. I ended up with two giant pieces of sausage and a plate full of rib scraps, ends, and other pieces. It was amazing! Dry rubbed with the right amount of crust. For pork ribs, they take a backseat to no one. The sausage is a beef and pork mix, with a slight hint of maple flavor. The amount they give you is ridiculous and well worth the money. I had three sides with my meal. Mac & cheese-it was great. Potato salad-also a tad on the Sweetside, but again I was not offended. It’s delicious. The true surprise though was the Brunswick stew. Tomato-based, almost chili consistency soup with various pieces of barbecue meats, peas, and corn. Finished off the meal with a piece of their famous icebox lemon pie which is phenomenal. The only thing wrong with this place is it closed on Sundays which means I can’t go back tomorrow. This is a family business, where you truly feel like they care about you being there.

Granger & Sons Barbecue – Menu with Prices – 8121 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland

The first time I went there they got my meal wrong and the pork was extremely dry. So I figure anyone can have a bad day. The second time I went, they had just opened. I ordered the large beef sandwich, they didn’t have any beef, so I settled for a large pork sandwich and as the first time the meat was extremely dry. I guess their belief is the bbq sauce will make it palatable. This is a fine lesson to all, just because you can throw some meat on a grill, doesn’t mean you make awesome bbq, it actually takes skill that the people of grangers don’t have or they simply don’t care. No wonder their only open 3 hours a day, funny, you would think they would be awesome with such regulated hours, however they fall way short

Sawâ??s on the Side Menu with Prices 1008 Oxmoor Rd, Birmingham

Saw’s is a charming hole-in-the-wall that makes for a great stop popular with locals. The employees are incredibly nice and the experience is definitely fun! I delved into a hearty sampler plate featuring a highlight of the various meats served up by Saw’s. The chicken leg was really good, nice and tender falling off the bone. The grilled chicken skin smothered in spices was truly perfection, but I couldn’t properly enjoy it through the Alabama White sauce. Even though that’s my favorite sauce on the planet, I recommend getting it on the side so you can really savor that chicken skin! The real highlight was the mac ‘n’ cheese, with crispy browned cheesy pieces, and a creamy texture resembling the finest mashed potatoes. It’s a unique texture and some of the best mac I’ve ever tried! The ribs were thankfully much larger than competitor Dreamland, whose ribs have now shrunk to a minuscule size, and dry as can be. These ribs were tender, but unfortunately not as good as I’ve had elsewhere. The third meat was either brisket or pulled pork? That wasn’t great, but admittedly I’ve been spoiled by some of the world’s greatest barbecue at legendary spots throughout Texas and North Carolina. So I have lofty standards. The barbecue sauce was also too watery and not nearly thick enough. But our overall experience was good and we love the people here.

Perrys Food Store – Menu with Prices – 1005 S Lewis Ave, Tulsa

Any time I’m going to get my grill on, my first stop is Perry’s. Whether you’re doing a pork shoulder, baby backs or spare ribs, brisket, or even pork belly Perry’s has the quality meats that are the building block of good BBQ. Both the spare ribs and the baby backs are nice and meaty – great for smoking. Whether in the oven, slow cooker, or grill, I’ve never had a brisket turn out well that did not come from Perry’s. I never make a brisket any more if I don’t have the time to stand in line. Yes – there is almost always a line at Perry’s because their meat is fabulous and reasonably priced. I’ve heard you can call ahead and have your meat pre-wrapped for pick-up, but I’ve never tried it. I usually like to look around in the case and choose. When you go in, take a number and wait to be called. The staff will answer questions, remove membranes, cut to order, and all the things you’d expect from an old-fashioned butcher. In the meantime, you can peruse their huge selection of marinades, rubs, and BBQ sauces. (They sell Elmer’s BBQ’s fabulous sauces at the Lewis location). You can also stock up on hamburger while you’re there…they will wrap it individually in packages of your choice. Your best burger gets even better with Perry’s hamburger. In short….great quality, great service, great prices. I recommend you check it out.

B & M Bar-B-Q & Catering – Menu with Prices – 15116 Lakeshore Blvd, Cleveland

Would you like B.M.? awesome bar-b-que behind bulletproof glass waits. Having passed this joint up in the past, this joint got my curiosity up enough to stop in and fulfill my munchie desires. Big ghetto grills were smoking away in the parking lot. Always a good sign. Not a trace of litter in the parking lot – another good sign. The walk from the car to the takeout window (no eating in) was a walk through an oh-so-heady wood and meat scented fog. Heavenly. It could be made into a men’s cologne. You look straight into the kitchen which appears to be big and super clean. No Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares here folks. Simple menu. RIBS: long, short, half slabs, by-the-bone… RIB TIPS: 4-8-12 oz size, spicy/sweet Yankee style BBQ sauce. SHOULDER: Pork shoulder superbly smoked and pulled with a vinegary southern style BBQ sauce. Sandwich or dinner option. WINGS: with or without sauce. I am not sure if they have regular fried chicken, but I hope so, as these wings were full size, battered and fried to perfection. There were a few sides, and a peach cobbler as well. The pork shoulder dinner $8.75, was out of this world good. Super moist, deep smokey flavor. The fried chicken was superb. By far the best I have had in Cleveland. Rib tips were a tad tough at times, but I’d do it again in a heart beat. Or heart attack. Real homemade coleslaw was a bonus! All in all, clean, cool, and the real deal. -Don’t be in a hurry, service is slow, but I’ll be back B&M! Carry on.

Archers BBQ – Menu with Prices – 4885 N Broadway St, Knoxville

Had heard good things about archers but mostly for their pulled pork, people had said you could find much better ribs but I decided to give the ribs a try as I already have a pulled pork place love. They tasted great and the sauce selection was wonderful, however I was unimpressed by the ribs. The full rack was tender towards the outer edges but tough in the center, and the skin over the rack was very thick and super tough, it pulled off in a single sheet which made the ribs better but I’ve never seen such thick, tough skin on ribs. I’m no smoking expert but it seems like the ribs I got were cooked too quickly with too much heat. Was hoping for a better experience as archers is the closest place to get bbq near my house. Maybe I got a bad batch but I will not be returning and will not be recommending the ribs to anyone.
