Sandwich Cartel – Menu with Prices – 410 SW Oak St, Portland

WHY IS THIS PLACE GETTING NO LOVE?! I walked by for lunch today and it looked cute AF (I know, don’t judge a place by its font lol). My coworker really wanted to try their chicken BLT. I went for the Gaucho (their most popular, apparently) and I asked the cook to choose the meat for me — he went for steak. The veggies, cheese, steak…omg it was all juicy and fresh and delicious. It’s $10 but it’s worth it –large and fresh. The cashier and cook were super nice. There wasn’t a long wait. Def be back to try another sandwich. Even my vegetarian friend was super happy with his egg, avo, tomato and cheese sammie.

Don Antonio Meat and Tortillas – Menu with Prices – 7510 State Ave, Kansas City

I came in for the second day in a row asking for suadero, itâ??s the only place I know that has it. When I asked the cook obviously busy as it seemed to be rush hour on Sunday, simply nodded and said they didnâ??t have it. Not to long after Don Antonio passed by and I asked him when can I look forward to them having it. He had a few words with the cook went to the cooler grabbed the bucket of the meat and started preparing it himself. That care for patronage there along with the great food will keep me coming back for years to come!!!! It was like eating at my Tioâ??s house

Spare Parts Diner – Menu with Prices – 63 Clarke Rd, London

What a hidden gem for breakfast! To look at the place you might think twice about going in; big mistake if you don’t. Inside is nothing flashy, just a plain old diner. The staff is friendly, the place is clean, the menu is simple but offers selection and the food arrives fast. When it does, wow! I ordered the Tune-up. Best homefries I’ve ever had, cooked to perfection. Fresh eggs cooked just right for dipping the fresh toast and the ham was full of flavor. My compliments to the cook, A++. All for just $7.95. But wait, order the Tune-up before 11am m-f, and it’s only $6!!! Can’t beat that value. The sausages my friend ordered were massive and embarrass all other breakfast sausage I’ve ever had. I will be back and urge others looking for a quick, old fashioned breakfast at an honest price to check it out.

Southern Classic Fried Chicken – Menu with Prices – 9415 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport

This is absolutely the best fried chicken I have ever eaten. Crisp and brown and delicious. Always tastes fresh and made to order. The cars wrap around the building. The prices are fantastic. We love the place. However, the sides suck. No flavor red beans and rice. Limp, greasy french fried potatoes that leave you with heartburn and indigestion. How they can cook the chicken so beautifully and serve awful everything else I will never know. I have asked for the potatoes to be cooked crispy. A bit better, but still causes me to choke and gag after just eating a portion. To me french fries should be crispy and brown, not greasy, limp and white. Is there any way that can be corrected. Please! We would go all the time if they could do everything good. As it is we rarely go. Still though they do a really great business so must be others do like greasy and limp fries. We always get the white meat, but I am plnning to try the strips as I have read good reviews about them. And I am going to ask the workers to please cook the potatoes till brown for me if they will. They are all real friendly and happy and helpful so maybe that is all I need to do. I am so ready for some of that wonderful chicken again.

La Pita Fresh – Menu with Prices – 5056 Cass Ave, Detroit

Sorry but I found a hair IN. MY. MOUTH. after I finished my food. No thanks. I’ll leave up my original review I posted before finding the hair but honestly? I wont be back….. Very polite and helpful staff. Super fast carryout order ESPECIALLY with it being lunch time. I’m very happy and I look forward to frequenting them throughout the semester. Food tasty too. Only negative is that I know we want smoothies to be thick. But mine is so thick and icy I cant really enjoy it or drink it with my meal. I’m waiting for it to melt because it keeps getting stuck in the straw. But that may just be a personal issue. Yum yum yum all around

The Halal Guys – Menu with Prices – 101 E Expressway 83, McAllen

Let me start off by saying gyros are one of my favorite medditieriean wraps. That being said, I was really looking forward to it out here. When I walked in, the place is nice, the staff seemed friendly but what really caught my attention is the gyro meat rotating on the vertical broiler! So it’s already looking promising. However, when I ordered…I was served the gryo meat that was already sliced and in a serving tray(for the record, the meat in other establishments is sliced from the vertical broiler and then placed on the pita.). By doing that, the meat fails to retain moisture. Needless to say, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt since it had the tzatziki sauce and unfortunately it was dry. The pita was kind of letdown too, as if it wasn’t made fresh. I want to again and hope it was just one time occurence. In the meantime, I’ll have a gyro elsewhere.

Foodies Cafe – Menu with Prices – b, 436 S Parramore Ave, Orlando

Three of us had lunch at Foodies, and every bite was delicious. Fish and grits- beautifully cooked white fish and cheesy grits- and chicken and waffles- again, cooked to perfection and served with a homemade vanilla syrup- are available for breakfast or lunch. The third member of our party, originally from Philadelphia, enjoyed the authentic Philly steak sandwich, which was served on a warm hoagie roll, and filled with so much meat, grilled onions, peppers, and mushrooms that it was necessary to eat it with a fork. The side order of fries was well seasoned, as were all the dishes we sampled. Pistachio cake for dessert was moist and decadent. This is not fast food; instead, everything is cooked fresh when ordered. Foodies is a friendly place, and we look forward to our next visit.

Waco Custom Meats & Seafood – Menu with Prices – 325 Lake Air Dr, Waco

We recently discovered this market, and we are so happy we did! They have a great variety of seafood from grouper to ahi tuna to crab cakes, as well as a variety of steaks, briskets, and pork products. All is top-notch. We have had their grouper and it was as good as any we had in the Caribbean. I’m looking forward to grilling a swordfish steak this weekend, and the crab cakes are calling my name. We stopped by today to get beef bones for stock, and I took a look around at the products offered. I’m going to surf my cookbooks and start making out menus. The shop is clean, the staff helpful, and I’m one happy cook!

Sailfish Marina Resort – Menu with Prices – 98 Lake Dr, West Palm Beach

Went for breakfast, went back a few days later for lunch. We found the service friendly and efficient, the drinks well made and the selection of food with its presentation to be great. Both breakfast and lunch menus offered most anything you could want. Breakfast was a simple omelette with fine homefries, lunch was a Dolphin “fish” Reubin with cold slaw rather than cooked cabbage. Fries were great. We were all very happy with the good, drinks and views of the boats. Individual men’s and women’s rooms, five holers ,men’s, almost overboard cutesy with a Davy Jones .locker motif. Almost posted pictures but feared readers might think it odd. Nevermind. I posted anyway. There was an outside Tiki Bar, a large indoor bar, a mammoth indoor eating area and our choice, the outdoor patio with umbrella tables. Also a very large ship’s store with items to take back to your boat,, beer, food, tacky T shirts, expensive women’s dresses…etc. So, we were happy enough to return. Guess that’s a sure recommendation.

Sami’s Gyros – Menu with Prices – 1158 W Washington St #106, Tempe

I came here with a friend at lunch to try the gyros. I ended up not even trying it. There was a long line so I began watching the cook out of boredom. He NEVER once went to the spit to slice off fresh gyros meat. There were two spits and one had nothing on it and the other had a very small amount of gyros meat on it. I decided to use the restroom and re-evaluate my options. When I came out of the restroom I glanced over the counter and saw the cook splashing a bit of water with a ladle on some gyros meet that was cooking on the grill. If it was fresh gyros it would have been hot from being on the spit. I grew up in Chicago and had good gyros from many restaurants and it was always sliced fresh off the spit and was piping hot. Sorry Sami’s, but you won’t be getting any of my business.

Rodak’s Coffee And BBQ Grills – Menu with Prices – 2520 W Pafford St, Fort Worth

I had the best buying experience ever with Marvin. He took the time to open the store on a holiday so that I could look at the different Primo models and make sure I was getting the best grill for me. His knowledge is encyclopedic – he knows the best way to cook just about anything on the grill. He made sure that I had everything I needed to be successful with my new grill – I had to stop myself from buying more than I really needed as a beginner. He’s a heck of a nice guy to talk to as well, and I learned a lot in the 90 minutes I spent in the store.
