Everything I would expect from Gen. Service: I felt like they should have assigned our party of 25 (split into several tables) at least one more wait staff, but the one they did assign did a great job. They even brought plates for the 85c cake we had. An extra staff would have been great for clearing tables of empty plates and replacing grills. Not sure if they were understaffed and underprepared that day (they ran out of sauce at like 5pm). Note: We had to pre-order 4 dishes for all of our tables, then we could order whatever we wanted after that. Don’t order more than you can eat or you have to pay extra! Dinner options: – Pork belly in red wine was the best. A little chewy, but okay to bite through (the thin cut beef tongue was VERY chewy and tough, would not get beef tongue again). Sweet and savory, thick and juicy. – Galbi is my favorite and they have nice thick cuts here. The scissors they give you aren’t great, but if you cut at the right angle then you’ll be alright. – Popcorn chicken comes fried and ready to eat, though it was huge bummer when they ran out of their sweet chili sauce. Crunchy and flavorful, not too salty, not burnt, just the right amount to pop into your mouth. – Plain shrimp was good, though I’m not a fan of things that have low payoff for how much effort goes into eating them (no, I don’t eat the shell!!). – Brisket was good, thin cut like the beef tongue, but much more tender and easy to eat. Nice kind of smokey flavor. – Honey chicken also another crowd favorite. Solid chicken, mildly sweet. I feel like we cooked it for a long time, but it was still very juicy and tender! My partner tried the geisha girl drink and it was like a VERY sugary lemonade with a LOT of ice. I liked it, but I wouldn’t get it again. Sugar and ice for $7? Soft pass lol Parking was also very easy. Their paper straws could be better quality, but I don’t even really use straws so whatever. Overall another good experience.

Manpuku Tokyo BBQ Dining – Menu with Prices – 1870 W Carson St, Torrance

Dining here was my first time trying Japanese bbq and I was very satisfied! My boyfriend and I came around 7:30pm on a Saturday and we were seated immediately. We ordered: the selected special wagyu chuck flap ($15/each “flap”), prime short rib kalbi (14.50), kobe rib eye (32.5), beef tataki (13.50), and one of the signature beef tongue dishes (I don’t remember which one because they were out of the one that we originally ordered), and garlic rice (8.00). The selected special wagyu chuck flap was my favorite. It is super thin slice of beef, about 6 inches long. They prep the grill with a piece of fat and then grill the flaps for you. Then, they prepare a raw egg dip for the dish. After its done cooking, they use the meat to wrap around a tiny ball of rice (about the size of a ping-pong ball) and dip it in the egg sauce they made. Super tender and flavorful. The kobe rib eye and prime short rib were also both amazing. These ones you grill yourself so you can have it however you like (rare, medium, etc.). We had most of our slices medium, but we did try cooking each type at different levels. We concluded that they tasted best medium/medium rare. Both these dishes were also very soft, full of flavor, and easy to eat. The beef tataki and beef tongue didn’t quite make it to my favorites list. The beef tataki comes with 6-8 slices of rib eye with marinated onions and white dashi. The onions and dashi were the perfect sides for it, but the beef was just too chewy. I was chewing for minutes and it would not budge – I just had to give up and swallow the entire thing. The beef tongue was not as chewy as the tataki (thank goodness) but still more chewy than the previous dishes. The slices of beef tongue are topped with garlic and green onions which provided a really nice flavor to it, but I just prefer my beef softer. The garlic rice was great! It comes in a stone pot and you can either serve it immediately if you like softer rice or wait a white for it to get crispier in the stone pot. I like crispy rice so I let it sit for a while before serving it. There is enough for maybe 2-3 people. I definitely recommend getting the rice! It is super flavorful – I’ve never had garlic rice taste that garlic-y before. Overall, my first experience trying JBBQ was great! It is a little pricey (our bill was a little over $100) so it’s won’t be a common meal for me, but I will definitely be back in the future!

Taqueira La Coyota – Menu with Prices – 6021 N Claiborne Ave, New Orleans

The best taco truck! Right in front of Winn Dixie on Chef Hwy. I know they have a few other la coyotas around the city and they are just as good. They just upped a few of the prices, but I’m not complaining bc everything is made to order and always delicious. The red sauce is my favorite! Most of the time it’s super spicy and I drench it on everything. The green sauce is more mild and good too. Gorditas – I always get the beef and they are always super juicy. Cheese, meat, onions, cilantro inside of a fried corn tortilla. The red and green sauces mixed together with some lime make it even better. Tacos – tortillas are corn. The meat you choose is usually cooked with onions and topped with cilantro. They’re so simple, so easy to eat, and you’ll always want more. I’ve tried all the meats and the beef and lengua are my favorite. Quesadilla – can’t go wrong with a beef or lengua quesadilla. Beef and Lengua – always super flavorful, juicy, yum as you can tell from above. Lol. Lengua is beef tongue, btw. Really depends on your preference Al pastor – I’ve tried this meat a few times and sometimes it’s a bit too salty.

HHM BBQ ??? ?? ??? – Menu with Prices – 11060 Lee Hwy Suite 7B, Fairfax

Saw this place open a while ago and finally got the chance to try it out. The ambiance and design inside looks really nice Perfect spot to chill, and drink with your friends (although their bar isnt open just yet due to no alc license). Service is pretty good 4.8/5. Food came out really fast and always hot. Cups were always filled and they came whenever we wanted to order more. Food can be identified as Sichuan/chengdu style cuisine, obviously with additions from other cuisines. They have a lot of dishes that use their peppercorn so be ready for some spice and heat. We ordered Shui Zhu Yu (Spicy Boiled Fish) B14 on menu, which is one of my fave dishes and LET ME TELL YOU. Their version might be the best i’ve ever had here. The peppercorns they use are genuine and they actually numb your tongue and not just burn it off with spice. Very very flavorful and the portion is pretty good for 2.5 people. Its not that spicy so you’ll be okay. Just a total diff experience if you’ve never had tongue-numbing spice before. Skewers were good. Have to order in batches of 5 but price listed is per skewer. These were sent out hot off the grill and very tender and juicy. Props to the side of spice for dipping. Chicken was good beef was really good. Squid tentacles were good but a little chewy 3.9/10. Just dont like squid in general though. Also ordered double cooked pork. Its diff than you’d imagine. Its pork coated in like mochi(?) and then deep fried twice and has a sweet sauce kinda like tangsuyuk. Really interesting. Wasn’t amazing or bad but couldnt stop eating it. Go here and grab skewers with your friends and maybe a beer when the bar opens. Or grab lunch and eat some pretty good sichuan-style food (they have chengdu style skewer pots btw). 10/10! Might be my new fave restaurant in the area. Idc too much to complain about little things as long as the food is good

El Amigo: Tienda y Taqueria – Menu with Prices – 707 S Union St Suite A-1, Wilmington

Muy delicioso! Been here a few times now and have to say I’m a fan. The tacos are street style, just meat, onion and cilantro. The Al Pastor might be my fav. The burritos for $4 are not huge, but are very satisfying. They’re no frills, but they’re stuffed! The tortas are big so, be hungry if you order one. I must say that the lengua (tongue) might be the best I’ve ever had. If you’ve never had tongue, don’t be afraid. It’s like the best braised beef you’ve ever had, except not as stringy as beef. Tender & juicy little pillows of yummy-ness. I will say there can be a language barrier sometimes, so brush up on that high school Spanish before you go. Cash only! Located in a mini Mexican grocery store, ample parking.

Perry’s BBQ – Menu with Prices – 3800 US Hwy 98 N, Lakeland

When I started taking pictures the woman ringing me up said, “What are you doing?” I said, “I’m going to write a review on your food…” She didn’t look so enthusiatic. But, Lakeland isn’t huge on Yelp yet, I plan on changing that! This was my guys favorite spot, and he’s a Lakeland Native. I know it’s the portions he likes more than anything else, and I don’t blame him because their to-go containers are deeper and they pile on more. When I do Chinese I usually go towards beef or their fried chicken but I went with the regular choices: half bourbon half orange chicken woth half rice half noodle. Orange chicken: my LEAST favorite, I’ll never order it again. If my pieces weren’t so hard that my fork would puncture it, they were uber chewy or just all soggy bread period. The flavor was spot on though but that doesn’t say a lot if your chicken isn’t edible. Bourbon chicken: great flavor and juicy but they were holding back on the extra bourbon sauce that’s frequently requested by everyone. Fried rice: it lacked luster to me but the taste was again really good… **drum roll please** Lo mein: my absolute favorite! Great flavor and I’d make a trip here just to get them! The next time I’m in the mall I’ll get a side of noodles from here and get my other items from a new place or right next door.

Marugame Udon – Menu with Prices – 1318 Galleria Way, Glendale

Ugh I can’t get over this place! It’s sooo good. Every time I eat here I leave completely satisfied. Service is usually pretty quick except this one time they ran out of udon so we had to wait about 7 minutes for them to make it. It was definitely worth the wait. Udon noodles: The texture is so great. I love how it’s so thick and chewy. It’s cooked and immediately cooled down with cold water to keep the elasticity. There’s also complimentary tempura flakes, green onions, and ginger right before the register so be sure to load up on those! Then on the side, there’s a small counter with tempura sauce, shoyu, sriracha and extra soup if you need it. #6 bukkake udon (regular-cold) I’m usually not into cold noodles but I had just finished a long hike and wanted something refreshing. I didn’t know something so simple could be so good! It’s literally just udon in the soup base but it’s delicious. The soup is nice and light with a lot of flavor. A little on the saltier side but the noodles are flavorless so they make a great pair. #9 beef udon (regular- hot) This bowl comes with thinly sliced beef and a perfectly soft boiled egg. The soup base tastes meatier and richer than the previous soup. Again, the combination of the noodles and soup is fantastic. And the addition of the meat and egg are just the cherry on top. Tempura: Chicken- This is my favorite! It’s so crunchy on the outside and the meat is so juicy Potato croquette- I don’t know how they managed to make fried mashed potatoes taste so good. The potatoes are well seasoned and the coating is so crispy. Not oily at all. Shrimp- Great shrimp tempura, the panko coating is thin and crunchy. Zucchini- zucchini still retained a lot of moisture and didn’t lose its texture

GO!! GO!! Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 10430 19th Ave SE Suite 3, Everett

After a weekend of cold weather camping, we were headed home in the late afternoon and both my husband and I were craving teriyaki. We’d tried a lot of teriyaki in the area that was mediocre, so when I saw Go! Go! on the search results, we decided to order ahead. It’s important to note that this restaurant has been renamed and under new ownership and has much better reviews that the old one! My husband ordered his favorite, chicken katsu, and I ordered the beef & chicken teriyaki combo. When we arrived, there were a few patrons in the restaurant. The person working the front (I think may have been the owner) was very efficient and friendly while handling the phone and walk in customers. I noticed how lovely & simple the interior decor was. Very inviting. When it was our turn in line the owner warmly greeted us. I really appreciated the fact that he took the time to ask where we heard of Go! Go! And thanking us for choosing them. (I’m one of those people that really prefers to go to stores and cafes where the owners genuinely appreciate the business and make the experience great.) The food had just been made and smelled delicious – but we were taking it home to eat. The katsu was so perfectly crispy with an out of this world katsu sauce. My husband said it it was better than his favorite katsu he’d had elsewhere – and trust me, that’s a high compliment because my husband is *very* hard to please. My chicken/beef teriyaki combo was bomb; the beef was thin and tender, having been tossed in a heavenly teriyaki sauce that was perfectly seasoned and not too sweet. The chicken teriyaki was very tender and juicy, and being thigh meat something I don’t typically enjoy, I was pleasantly surprised. They loaded up the dish with lots of sticky white rice. In addition, a crisp, fresh side salad with a sweet, creamy dressing was included, as well as a free can of pop. The dinner was a little pricier than average (than other places we’ve eaten for teriyaki), but you get what you pay for here in addition to great, friendly service. We will definitely be back!

Old Taro Taiwanese Noodle – Menu with Prices – 4370 Thornton Ave, Fremont

One of my (and my mom’s) favorite beef noodle soup places ever! It’s definitely a hole in the wall, so usually on weekdays there is no wait. Occasionally, on weekends during lunch there will be a wait – a lot of families love the lamb hot pots (?), and it’s very family friendly. The place is not big, there are probably only 10 tables total, with 4 seats at each table. The spicy beef noodle soup is so good – it reminds me a lot of beef noodle soups found in Taiwan, and they give 3-4 pieces of meat in each bowl. They also offer the sour mustard greens é?¸è? and hot sauce on the side. Personally, I don’t add anymore hot sauce – it’s spicy enough for me. And recently, they just added “thick” noodles that look like handmade noodles. I love thicker noodles, the texture is much chewier than the original thin noodle. Occasionally, I get the plate of pork ears, since I like to dip them in hot sauce. Price of a bowl of beef noodle soup is $10.25 right now, which is similar to other beef noodle places around Fremont. I come here probably once a week or so, sometimes more. I just got it yesterday for take-out, and I know for a fact I’ll be getting lunch here again in 2 days. The service isn’t amazing, but it’s very efficient. I don’t expect great service at small, family run places like these though. There is no decor, but prices are decent, food is pretty great, and service is efficient. I highly recommend giving the beef noodle soup a try.

L & D Teriyaki Express – Menu with Prices – 1366 3rd Ave, Chula Vista

I was told I needed to try this place so we finally did. We ordered 3 meals and a side of egg rolls. The food is definitely good quality but the taste wasn’t that spot on. The bbq chicken was very good. Grilled perfectly juicy and roasted The bbq beef was more like thin carne asada grilled. A little over cooked for my taste The egg rolls and sweet & sour were good. The katsu was the most disappointing of all. The chicken was cooked more like chicken parm style not very crunchy like L&L. The macaroni was good but misssing something just that extra tang or sweetness that makes it taste great. The katsu sauce was very good as well as the teriyaki sauce. Over all this place is a ma&pa definitely worth checking out but for my taste the quality was there but the taste.

Golden Palace Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 2195 Carling Ave, Ottawa

Golden Palace has been around as long as I can remember. Excellent quality Chinese dishes, and egg rolls to die for added with thier home made plum sauce ( made with real plums. Although the prices are high for the food, remember this is no corner take out food place. Dishes are well made and very tasty. I meant to take a photo of what we had to eat today but as soon are my appetizer came (two egg rolls) I drowned them in plum sauce and ate them. I wanted to order more, but I knew my other dishes were coming. Next came the vegtable fried rice, with plenty of veggies and nice thick brown rice, delicious , also had beef and broccoli, ( very good) and my favorite sweet and sour chicken balls. Now you know how at a corner take out the chicken balls are usually more batter than chicken, well not here, thin batter with big pieces of chicken in a super good sauce. This meal for two cost us approximately $60. With tip. Well worth the money for an excellent meal. Can’t wait to go back and try other dishes. On another subject, Golden Place has been around a long time, so because of the way the restaurant is built, there are stair to go up and stairs to go down to the washrooms, not handicap friendly and I’m sure it would cost a lot to renovate. They do have take out delivery service also, you’ll get the same quality dishes. Cheers!

Gom Shabu Shabu – Menu with Prices – 3502 Satellite Blvd, Duluth

Thanks to this place, purple makes my mouth water. If you don’t get it, you need to give this place a try! Gom Shabu Shabu has a special place in my heart. The warm purple broth, the mound of veggies and thinly shredded beef will always be my go to when I need to recover from a cold, or just warm up in general. Each person is given a stove and pot to cook however they wish, whatever they wish! There is also 2 sauce bars; guest bar for diy sauces, and employees if you trust them to make yours for you. I make my own because Im the best sauce maker. The sauce bar consists of cilantro, garlic, green onion, jalapeno, white peanut/sesame sauce, chili sauce, chili oil, ponzu, and other bottled sauces. In my honest opinion their white sauce is the best in the area. so good! For the meats you can order a variety of things, like beef, premium beef*, chicken, pork, lamb, and seafood. each protein comes with a mound of vegetables like napa cabbage, spinach, purple cabbage, corn, bok choi, broccoli, sweet pumpkin, sweet potato, along with a sausage, crab imitation, fish cakes, tofu, rice cakes, an egg, and rice noodles. Its alot, but no refills! They also bring a bowl of fresh bean sprouts for the table too. This is refillable. We always get the premium beef which is served frozen and shaved into little rolls. The only reason I take one star off is because lately the beef has been getting way too thin. Before, the beef was a little thicker so that it would hold its shape even when it melted. But when I went recently, it was so thin that it would just break apart into pieces when it melted or cooked. Normally one order of beef was enough for me but I ordered another one because i was still hungry :(.. Hopefully that will change soon, but either way I will always come back here.

Tuptim Thai – Menu with Prices – 2121 N Rock Rd STE 300, Wichita

Everything had raw cabbage on it. I love cabbage but it would’ve tasted better with some pickling or cooked a little. We asked for Thai-hot for appetizers, and they said they couldn’t do it; only for entrees. We ordered the tiger cry beef appetizer and tuptim wings. Beef was dry and chewy; Wings were deep fried (no batter though) tossed in a sweet sauce. Meat was dry too. We prefer these exact apps from Thai Tradition. Thai Tradition has two types of fried chicken wings that are equally delicious. The tiger cry beef there is amazing too. Their appetizers are like flavor parties in your mouth; they will make it as hot or mild as you like! We ordered the Tuptim Passion as an entree and it had great flavor and was actually the perfect heat and spice. It just wasn’t my favorite dish because it had “land” meats lol. I’m a seafood gal. Thankfully, my boyfriend ate the beef, chicken and pork. It’s a nice restaurant. Very modern, romantic and clean inside. Service is good. I like the tray of chilies they bring out. If you know me, a meal is incomplete without heat! I am a chili pepper freak! Hot sauce in my bag, Swag kinda gal. The food is not mind-blowing good so I don’t think I will come back unless it’s the last Thai place in town.
