I came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary dinner. First impression when you arrive the parking lot is, wow, why are these spots so tight? If you drive a SUV, you will probably take up two spots. Perhaps I am just nitpicking haha But the atmosphere is very nice to be honest, you are on a hillside and with a nice grass area for you to relax and walk around. We made a reservation and the hostess sat us down really quick and she gave us a small little gift which is a card signed by the staffs to congratulate our anniversary. Then, we were greeted by a very nice gentleman and throughout the whole meal, he was tentative and caring. We really appreciated it. For our appetizer, I got a sashimi dish which is a lightly seared tuna side with some salad with an Asian tangy dressing. They also put a thick soy sauce-oyster sauce mixed sauce on the side of the tuna with some wasabi and that sauce was salty, perhaps they could have added some sugar to balance it out. I really liked the salad though because the dressing was delicious. My girlfriend got the French onion soup and she said it was delicious, and it seemed like there was a good balance of cheese and onions. As for the main course, we both got the house prime rib, though she got a smaller size. It was cooked perfectly and just the way we wanted. It came with a side of cream corn and I am glad it wasn’t too heavy to eat. We also got Brussel sprouts on the side and it was super delicious. They used some dried pork and garlic to cook it and it was a mouthwatering experience. The food quality was really good, and the portion was huge. As we were going to order dessert, they brought out these cream puffs with ice cream as our anniversary celebration. It was really sweet, and we really liked the small details they put in to satisfy their guests. The total came out to be $160 without tip which is on the mid to high price side, but I would say you got everything with that price: service, atmosphere, food quality.  Overall, great place for a birthday and anniversary place for celebration. Great customer service and great food quality.

Mas Natural – Menu with Prices – 1905 Central Blvd, Brownsville

Very rude service cashier/server. I asked for a salad to go. She’s making it and pours the dressing over it. I stop her and say I’d like the dressing on the side because the salad will get soggy since I’m not eating it right away. She gives me a look like, “Really!?” Then she says, “I ASKED you if you wanted everything on your salad.” I tell her that yes I want all the salad fixings, but I want the dressing on the side. I explain that at the other location I’ve gotten it on the side without even asking when its an order to go. She tells me “Not here. We always pour it on top.” Then she says, “Next time tell me before I make the salad.”

Zushi Japanese Bistro – Menu with Prices – 4540 Main St, Virginia Beach

Great sushi place within walking distance of my hotel. I always need to get some sort of sashimi when I go for sushi. Here I got the Chirashi which came with a choice of salad or miso soup. I went with the salad. I love love love ginger dressing so yeah, salad for me. Real basic, but good. Veggies were fresh and the dressing was what I was expecting. The chirashi is sashimi on a bed of sushi rice. This one had some pickled vegetables as well. The rice was great sushi rice, a little sweet and cooked well. The pickled veggies included ginger, cucumber and squash (maybe??? not sure), all good. The wasabi was a good quality. Strong and smooth. There were two pieces of Tamagoyaki (japanese omelet thing that’s a little sweet). I’m never a fan of this or really any egg really (so don’t take my opinion on this part into account). I did eat it so that should mean something. Now the fish. It tasted super fresh. The tuna had a beautiful coloring, the salmon was marbled well (can fish be marbled? Well it is now). In addition there was white tuna, shrimp and two other fish but I can’t recall what type. Regardless all were great with tuna being the king of the dish.

Greek Street Grill – Menu with Prices – 3312 La Sierra Ave #103, Riverside

Good food, great service, overall a nice place to grab a quick bite to eat! My girlfriend and I are familiar with Riverside due to the fact that we met at UCR. We weren’t familiar with the surrounding area, the farther you get away from the university, though. So good thing I saved this restaurant if we were ever passing by the area again! Food: The food came out extremely quickly. We ordered, I grabbed some water, washed my hands, came out, and within minutes, the food was already ready for the both of us. We both ordered the combo dinner plates. She got the beef with gyro, fries, and soup and I got the chicken with the gyro, rice, and salad. The beef was a little overcooked, had a rubbery texture. Gyro meat was the highlight of the combo plate! Seasoned well and definitely served a lot on my plate. Didn’t try the fries. Soup tasted like canned chicken noodle soup. Chicken skewers were incredibly dry – good thing I had the tzatziki sauce to balance the fat to protein ratio. Rice was made well and the salad had a lot of dressing and feta cheese. Both plates came with peta bread. They don’t make it in house but you can never go wrong with pre-packaged! I think the thing that tied everything together was the tzatziki sauce. Cucumber yogurt is the bee’s knees, especially paired well with the gyro meat! Service: Service was quick and friendly. Our food came out quickly and ordered food was extremely easy. No complaints here! Overall, we’re definitely glad we came by here. Both my girlfriend and I were full and it was very affordable for the both of us. Food can be worked on though, as there’s always room for improvement.

Neisha Thai Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 11180 Main St, Fairfax

Neisha is the new hot Thai restaurant in Fairfax. Although it has the same menu as the Tyson’s location, the Fairfax location is newly renovated and it can sit a large party. Ambiance and Service: 5/5. We came during lunch and it was not busy. The new interior is really nice. The service was friendly and quick. Price and Value: 5/5. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 entrees… plus dessert. The check came out about $40. Food/Quality: 4.5/5 Papaya salad was really good. It has a good amount of heat to it. Always a good palette cleanser between heavy dishes. Green curry had the right balance between sweet and spicy. Very delicious. Duck roll has a good flavor of roasted duck and roti. The hoison sauce was slightly overpowered though. Hot wings. The sauce was hot, sweet and tangy. I really like their Thai street food menu. Can’t wait to come back and try them all. Also want to try their fish. Coconot ice cream and fried banana. Really good combination. I could eat 2 plates. Overall a nice addition to the neighborhood.

Al’s Gyros Chicago’s Finest – Menu with Prices – 5932 W Bell Rd, Glendale

I love this place. Really do. Had many dishes on their menu. I cant get enough of the Mediterranean salad with chicken. Its large and plentiful with chicken. So good. My problem is with pick up orders. When I get the salad, I ask for the Greek dressing to be on the side (so it doesnt saturate the lettuce if I were to keep for leftovers, which I do) I was told it always does. That order came with dressing on the side, so when I ordered again I didnt ask, bc… dressing always came on the side for to go orders.. that didn’t happen. I was very disappointed. But since this place is so good and despite me moving and it’s a ways further, I still come here! So I order again and specifically say please put the dressing on side. Ok no problem. I get to pay and notice I dont see the dressing. I’m given one and I go home. Start to eat and noticed the dressing is all on the bottom of the container. So sad! I wont stop coming here, but please stop it LOL! Get it together

Sweet Tomatoes – Menu with Prices – 3505 Mall Blvd NW, Duluth

Generally, everything was fine as usual except for three glaring problems: (1) the miso soup was much too salty. It wasnâ??t really edible even with multiple glasses of water to wash it down. (2) The tuna tarragon, as always, had no sign of tuna pieces, not even bits. The name of this menu item needs to be changed to reflect this constant fact. (3) The Greek salad needs an olive oil-based dressing, not the straight canola oil presently used. Olive oil is a key fixture in Greek recipes especially for its unique taste. If cost is a factor then use a 50/50 olive oil canola oil blend. Clouding and thickening of the oil from very cold refrigeration is easily overcome. Presently, I have to add olive oil on my own from the salad bar bottle to get the proper taste, but it makes the salad too wet with dressing.

Paleteria Oasis #1 – Menu with Prices – 4641 Airport Rd Suite#2, Santa Fe

My husband and I checked this paleteria out on a whim after we grabbed dinner at one of the restaurants in the Design Center. I was super pleased with the quality and selection of paletas (popsicles) offered. They were all homemade and came in a variety of flavors–way too many to remember them all. There were generally two types of paletas, paletas de agua (water based popsicles), and paletas de crema (cream based popsicles that taste like a mix between a popsicle and an ice cream). We got a few to take a couple home. So far I’ve tried the water based lime (super refreshing, and just the right balance between sweet and tart), avocado (sounds strange, but trust me, this one is super sumptuous and creamy), and paleta de nuez (pecan cream popsicle). I can’t even tell you which one is my favorite because they were all so delicious. There are also other things on the menu that look delicious- aguas frescas, dori and taki nachos, and chicharrones, among other options. The price is on the high side compared to other paleterias I’ve visited, but I think the quality and location make this slightly higher price worth it. Definitely worth the visit!

Yamasaki Teriyaki – Menu with Prices – 9 Dixwell Ave, New Haven

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon Yamasaki Teriyaki as an option on Snackpass. I think we just found our new favorite quick, delicious, and cheap Asian-fusion place in New Haven! The restaurant itself is clean and spacious, and the servers and chefs are all so friendly. We ordered the Chicken Bento (with comes with chicken teriyaki over a bed of rice, a side salad with citrus Asian dressing, 3 pieces of gyoza, and 3 California roll sushis) and the Chicken Teriyaki Plus (with comes with chicken teriyaki, a choice of lo mein/fried rice/regular rice) a side salad with citrus Asian dressing, and your choice of hot & sour soup or miso. First of all, the portions are MASSIVE. For under eight dollars, you can get dish that could probably last you 2 meals. Second, the chicken teriyaki is of high quality, and the meat is tender and flavorful. The chicken strips are quite meaty, and they are all well seasoned with teriyaki sauce. The rice under the chicken teriyaki is incredibly soft and pillowy, kind of gummy, which is my favorite kind of rice! We ordered the chicken bento with vegetable lo mein, which was so savory and substantial. The gyoza in the chicken bento box could have been a little more flavorful, but the outside wonton skin was crispy! California roll was standard, and a nice touch. Finally, I have to mention that the dressing on the side salad is one of my new favorites – so tangy and creamy. In addition, I didn’t expect the salad leaves to be so fresh, which was definitely a nice surprise. I will definitely be coming back again!

Pulp Lifestyle Kitchen Liberty Park – Menu with Prices – 439 E 900 S, Salt Lake City

Visiting SLC and looking for a healthy option for a late lunch, this place fit the bill! The bento bowl with ahi tuna and green tea noodles was packed with nutrients. The tuna was a little fishier than I would have liked, and I would HIGHLY recommend getting the cilantro lime dressing on the side because my bowl was drowning in dressing, nearly to the point of inedibility. Which is a shame because I really liked the other ingredients (save the fishy tuna) and would have liked to let them shine a lot more. I also got the dirty chocolate chai hot with skim, and it was absolutely fantastic. I absolutely love their focus on sustainability. Even their smoothies are served in glass cups with straws optional (though they do have compostable to-go options of course). Prices were on point for what they were serving. A similar meal at my favorite spot in my hometown (Columbus OH) would be at least 30% pricier. So in summary, I absolutely recommend this place, but learn from my mistake on the dressing!

Beehive Kitchen Menu with Prices 1914 NE 5th Ave, Boca Raton

I finally made it to the local Beehive. I have been to another location but never had I been to the one that’s right on my side of town. I was prompted by a coupon, a buy 1, 2nd half off. As the couple salads I have gotten in the past at a Beehive seemed over priced I was glad to get a hook up. after some easy parking I came in at what seemed the perfect time, there was no line, and about 4 customers were just finishing up and the near the end of the line, at the register. But all 4 employees stayed down there, presumably 4 employees getting a bowl ready, 1 per person. When a nice guy did come down, he got right to prepping my couple of bowls. I got the mixed greens and spinach. It wasn’t much of either, but seemed pretty fresh. The next station was a veg, so I got a green bean and a broccoli. then next station was a meat so I got chicken and an additional of serving of tuna(2 dollars additional). with some dressing handed to me at the end I was set. We dug into the bowls, fairly happy with the ingredients. the salad parts, the vegetables the meat, pretty good. I thought the tuna was just ok, but pretty good overall. I thought the small portions compared to the price seemed out of wack. Overall it’s a good bite, good service, I just don’t dig the portion versus price. With a coupon, I will probably stop back in.

Choppa Poke – Menu with Prices – 716 State St, Santa Barbara

I was actually on my way to a different poke place when I found out that was closed/under construction. I was sad until I turned around and happened to see Choppa Poke right there! Made me so happy that I was still going to be having poke bowl tonight for dinner. I walked in and it was super clean. Really neat set up because they have rolled ice cream on one side and poke bowls on the other side. I have always wanted to try the rolled ice cream but I was only focused on dinner first so I will have to come back another time. Poke bowl was delicious. I had a small bowl, which is 2 protein scoops. The medium is 3 scoops and the large is 4. Just $2.00 extra for each additional scoop/size larger. I personally had spicy tuna and ahi tuna for my two protein scoops mixed with spicy garlic and spicy (something else) sauce (sorry I forget the names). I chose the “sushi rice” as I love sticky rice. Then I added on fried garlic, avocado, seaweed salad, edamame, and imitation crab. It was nice of the staff member to offer suggestions for toppings because I was not sure what sounded the best to put on it! There are plenty of spots to sit inside, or take it to go. Looks like you can also order takeout and get it delivered.

Farm District Marketplace – Menu with Prices – 328 N Orange St, Glendale

Sad because I really want to like this place. However, the food is less then impressive. Service lacking. Every time I have been here I have had to wait at the register for about 5 minutes before being serviced to pay. This time I thought about actually walking out and leaving my food there for them. You must tend to your customers. Food is overpriced for the freshness. Most of it has been sitting out all day. Breakfast bar is 8.99 per lb for overcooked under a heat lamp eggs bacon and sausage. Salad bar 8.99 per lb. most of their dishes are about 12.99 – 14.99 per lb (chicken salad, Pasta salad etc). I will say the build your own pizza for 9.95 is delicious. Last time I had a sandwich took about 25 minutes to make and was small and underwhelming for 9.95. The fresh juices are decent price about the same as DA juice bar next door. Smoothies cheaper which is nice. I got a bagel toasted with cream cheese for 2.45. HOWEVER, I open the bagel and it was only spread cream cheese on one side of the bagel and not enough to spread to the other side. SO disappointing who eats one side of a bagel with cream cheese and the other side dry?! No to mention after waiting 5 minutes to pay… please up your game up FarmDistrict you have all the potential just hire better staff and make sure things are not just sitting all day and fresh! It’s a fresh salad/breakfast bar, after all..
