I came for lunch one weekday with the intention of getting some cakes to try. Unfortunately they didn’t have the ones I noticed in pictures and wanted to get. Whether the pictures are old or the cakes were sold out I have no idea. Instead I got a turkey and havarti baguette which was simple yet perfectly executed. It reminded me of sandwiches I ate in Paris! I also got a pain au chocolat, which I must admit I ate the next day for breakfast. It was delicious and I’m sure would have been even better if eaten the day of. Overall I enjoyed my experience and I’ll be back to see if I can get the cakes I was after.

Kool Kakes By Dylan – Menu with Prices – 5615 Troup Hwy, Tyler

We ordered two cakes from Kool Kakes by Dylan for a 50th Anniversary Party. Both cakes turned out better than the pictures we provided that we wanted the cakes to look like. They delivered the cakes for our event which helped so much, highly recommend that service. The cakes were absolutely delicious. His fondant is made out of marshmallows and tastes good. Our cakes were strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, and snickerdoodle. The cakes were a huge hit, they were so beautiful you didnâ??t want to cut them, and tasted wonderful. Village Bakery use to be by go to cake place-but I now have a new cake man! They give great customer service and respond quickly to any questions. I highly recommend them, you wonâ??t be disappointed.

Cakes By Judi – Menu with Prices – 4831 Schimpfs Ln, Mobile

Mrs. Judi is a phenomenal woman! Her cakes are the best around. I felt so at ease from the moment I sat at ‘the bride’s table’ with her and my mom. She took my ideas and melded them together into two fantastic cakes for me and my new hubby! Kelli was super sweet and helpful when we had to change the size of both cakes at the last minute because of our guest count. The Reese’s peanut butter cake was GONE and my cake was almost gone! Everyone said that those cakes were the most moist cakes they had ever eaten! Thank you Cakes by Judi for making my wedding day complete! We will definitely use her again for future events!

Iggy’s Bread – Menu with Prices – 130 Fawcett St, Cambridge

Not sure why some haven’t enjoyed Iggy’s croissants. Maybe they aren’t getting them directly from the Cambridge bakery? Maybe they’ve traveled too far (farmers’ market? cafe?) and are too old? Whatever the case: I lived in France. And the pain chocolate from Iggy’s is as good or better than the majority of the ones I ate outside of Paris. And they are as good as *many* of the croissants I ate in Paris. (NB: I think one of the reasons these pastries are so so good in France is that you’ll never eat one more than 2 or 3 hours old.) The butter croissants at Iggy’s are really nice, too, but I don’t have frame of reference to compare these with their French counterparts. The only other local place that does these similar justice is Athan’s in Brookline. I also love Iggy’s Francese bread, and my partner is nuts about their cranberry pecan rolls. Lastly: you won’t find a nicer bunch of bakers. If chocolate croissants are your thing, do yourself a favor and go get one!

Donuts Plus – Menu with Prices – 918 N Glassell St # A, Orange

My boyfriend and I work right down the street, and man are we thankful this amazing donut shop is so close to us! We love coming here for a quick delicious breakfast, we drive school buses and our breaks are rather short. It doesn’t matter if I come here at 5 in the morning or 10 am, it’s always packed! But that doesn’t matter because they are quick to get you in and out. Their donuts are so soft, they have so many flavors, they have breakfast sandwiches, up to 18 different sandwiches if not more. Coffee is THE BEST! I’ve never had coffee so good as the one here hands down. They are so friendly and they always know your order. They offer a large variety of soft drinks also, energy drinks, smoothies, boba and pain relief! I could go on and on but come see for yourself and try the best donut shop in OC

Chocolat Vitale – Menu with Prices – 6257 3rd Ave NW, Seattle

It’s been awhile since my last visit to Chocolat Vitale and obviously it was pre-Yelp. Stopped in with The Homie yesterday afternoon (11/11/17) and of course, forgot to officially check-in! Wow the retail space had transformed with additional seating and retail focal points interspersed! Lovely layout with lots of natural light from the large windows. Got some of their signature drinking chocolate (10 ounces $19, 20% off through 11/12/17!) and some Cluizel chocolates: 4 chocolate coated orange peel ($1 for a pair), 2 with gianduja, and 2 The Homie picked where the latter two types were $2 each. I enjoy the retail sites like Fran’s, Chocolopolis, Chocolati, Theo’s, Intrigue, and Chocolat Vitale. Ironic that I’m posting during the Chocolate Festival weekend in Seattle. Yes, Halloween just passed with all those bite sized goodies. But if one wants to indulge and savor delicious, high quality chocolate and support an indie shop with personable customer service (especially from Janet Eicher), be sure to stop Chocolat Vitale!

Honey Bakery Menu with Prices 2000 S Havana St, Aurora

I did note the pictures of the cakes below ~ I have never had their cakes but I have never walked in and seen mold on their cakes; perhaps this was a singular incident; perhaps not. All of their packaged breads and pastries are baked daily and they usually sell out on a daily basis- what they do not sell is put on a pedestal marked off as “Yesterday’s Bread”. I have shopped at H-Mart Several times and each time I have stopped and purchased sweet breads from Honey Bakery. Everything I have purchased has tasted fresh and delicious, and is definitely home-made; if you don’t eat it, after a week, it will mold, just like home-made bread or cakes without preservatives. Maybe they forgot to change out the cakes for a week in the previous person’s experience, I don’t know. Things happen. Not saying that displaying moldy cakes is OK- but I have never had a bad experience with the goods I have purchased. Give them a try! If you are shied away because of the previous photo’s, be assured that all of the packaging on their breads and pastry’s is a clear plastic all around, so you can check out your goods before buying. I will say, however, that normally whoever is running the check out stand in their little shop is usually talking to someone, either another customer, or on the phone. But they still take care of you when you are ready to check out or if you have questions.

Mainwood Pastry – Menu with Prices – 113 W Elder St, Cincinnati

There aren’t too many places in OTR where you can get a croissant, let alone a good one. I was trying to go to French Crust, but they were closed on a Friday morning which was strange. Blue Oven Bakery didn’t have any croissants at that time of the day either. So I checked on Yelp and it pointed me to Mainwood Pastry. It’s a small shop, but I was happy to see that there were croissants. Even though the almond croissants looked great, I decided on getting 2 chocolate croissants (pain au chocolat). The outside pastry was flaky and the chocolate was well distributed throughout the croissant. The inside layers near the chocolate were a little stuck together and not as airy. But the croissants were still delicious and better done than your grocery store bakery. Great with a hot cup of coffee. Well worth aimlessly wandering around Findlay market.

Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park Menu with Prices 1313 Harbor Blvd, Anaheim

This breakfast is a win for the parties who want the maximum Disney character experience early in the morning… Breakfast Service: The staff gave the usual great Disney service throughout our visit. They were especially helpful with checking in our party of 11 for breakfast. Smiles and high fives everywhere. Breakfast Cuisine: They had your usual breakfast staples: Eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, breakfast sandwiches, omelettes, etc. The quality is similar to what you’d find at IHOP, nothing terrible or spectacular. However, the pastries selection was top notch and the coffee was freshly brewed which is what I focused on to fuel up a full day at Disney Character Ambiance: This is the main reason why everyone is here and Minnie and Friends delivered. There were always at least 2 Disney Characters making their rounds around the tables for pictures and autographs. It was hard to get my God Kids and their siblings to eat because they were so excited to hang with the characters. If you don’t have kids this is not the place to stop by for breakfast unless you really enjoy the character experience as well. I do get we’re at Disney but at $34 for adults, they are about $5 overpriced for the selection and quality of food you get IMO. Minnie and Friends Breakfast in the Park is like Hooters, you are paying more for the ambiance versus the food. Those are your cards, play them as you see fit! (At Hooters or Disney) Enjoy…=)

Cupcake Hearts – Menu with Prices – 3156 Bill Beck Blvd, Kissimmee

Great experience with Cupcake Hearts! We drove from Wisconsin to Florida to celebrate my daughter’s first birthday with family that lives in Florida. We needed a custom cake. I contacted Cupcake Hearts via email and Cathy was so wonderful. I sent pictures of ideas I had for cupcakes and a smash cake and she was so accommodating. The cupcakes and smash cakes were Sesame Street themed. They were absolutely perfect and everything tasted better than it looked. All the cakes were moist and delicious. If I lived near her shop I would go here for all my cupcake/cake needs. Thank you for making my daughter’s first birthday so special.

Petite MarieBette – Menu with Prices – 105 Water St E, Charlottesville

I stopped by Petite MarieBette several times in the summer of 2019 while working in Charlottesville. I always had my order to stay and only came in on weekday mornings around 7 AM, so I never had trouble getting my order quickly, finding somewhere to sit, and getting some work done. I imagine it’s harder to do this during prime time/weekends, but on weekday mornings it was pretty calm, although a few more customers tended to trickle in around 8 AM. Hot coffee drinks tended to come with a complimentary mini madeleine on the side, which was a sweet touch. Note that this doesn’t seem to be the case for cold/iced coffee based on my 1 experience getting an iced coffee to stay. In addition to plain coffee, I ordered a matcha latte and a chai tea latte on 1 occasion each. Both lattes tasted less sweet and more “real” than what I’d get at Starbucks, and the chai was definitely spicier. For pastries, I had a pain au chocolat, a financier, a salted pretzel croissant (“pressant”), and an apple galette across several different visits. All of these were really good, although my favorites were the financier and the pressant. I could definitely see myself getting addicted to pressants if I lived nearby, and would recommend anyone visiting to try it! I didn’t get to try many menu items (e.g. sandwiches, made-to-order breakfasts, etc.), but I did get a pre-packaged tuna salad 1 Sunday evening for dinner, when everything else nearby seemed to be closed. The salad was filling and did the job that night, but I would recommend sticking to pastries or maybe breakfast food here, since there’s so many good restaurants in the vicinity for savory things. The café has a very pleasant atmosphere; all the décor is vaguely “French” and very cute. Some of the tables near the back were really wobbly, which occasionally made for a precarious situation since they fill their coffee cups up all the way. The ladies’ room was always clean whenever I used it in the morning. This location is a short walk from the Downtown Mall.

Campini’s Fine Italian Deli & Market – Menu with Prices – 28860 Old Town Front St, Temecula

Ohhh Campini’s!! You are an amazing little gem of a deli! You make my taste buds sing! It had been much too long since our last visit. We were in the area and it was 4:47 pm and they close at 5. I called in my order and they made my sandwiches, got my salads and desserts together and then carried my items to the car (I am in the middle of a terrible fibromyalgia flair and they could tell I was in pain)! We ordered a meatball sub and the smell was heavenly (I think Joey from “FRIENDS” would love this place lol)! That wasn’t mine though but I have it on good authority that it was delicious. We also ordered a pastrami sandwich and a Campini’s special (sorry…by the time I thought to take pictures, our sandwiches were not as pretty as they once were lol). We also had cannolis, black & white cookies, Italian Wedding cookies, pasta salad, marinated mushrooms and feta cucumber salad. Did I say cannolis? Because CANNOLIS! The best cannolis ever! Everything was delicious! We vowed to go back at least once a month because it’s over an hour away from home but well worth the trip! The delicious food is reason enough to go but then the service was wonderful! Sometimes, when you go somewhere that close to closing time, service can be lacking but nope! They were awesome! Everything was so fresh! My mom could not quit saying how good everything was…high praise from an excellent cook!! Check it out and I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!

Saint Amon Baking Co – Menu with Prices – 6333 E 120th Ct f, Tulsa

Beautiful soft macarons that look stiff but when you bite into them, they delicately crumble in your mouth. Wonderful French baguette bread that takes me back to France, better than some other local places. Pain au chocolat which they called chocolatine. It was wonderfully layered and tasted equal to those at other places and I loved that it was a French baker making all the products as opposed to a processed product from some big factory. Koun ammon which I only knew about from watching British baking program. They loved critiquing peopleâ??s layering of sugar and butter and I really enjoyed eating yours. The cinnamon roll was a nod to the local market and it was huge, it fed three people.
