Glad to see a popular local business pop up closer to me so I can enjoy quality homemade ice cream from time to time. They have an impressive selection of flavors for the more sophisticated to even the pickier palates to choose from. They cycle through seasonal flavors through out the year as well if you ‘re the type who likes trying something new. My favorite flavor is by far the Honeycomb. It’s certainly a treat and I love the crispy chunks of actual honeycomb that’s embedded inside. As a local business I appreciate that they utilize other local businesses in their ice cream like Lanna Coffee. My boyfriend is a bit disappointed that they don’t offer Lanna Coffee at this location because he enjoys the Lanna Coffee ice cream float he gets at the original Ampersand location. We were told that they wouldn’t be offering tit at this location because they’re next to a Starbucks. My only gripe with this location is that their menu is all the way in the back behind the register with tiny letters and all of the flavors are on small wooden engraved signs. If it’s busy and you have to wait in line, you’ll have no idea what their flavors are until you get up to the very front. The overall set up isn’t ideal in my opinion. Especially when it gets crowded inside and you fight the long line behind you so you can get out with your ice cream. Their ice cream case doesn’t list names so if you’re not familiar with their flavors you’ll have to inquire about all of them. They will let you sample all of the flavors you want, but if you come when it’s busy you’ll probably feel rushed. They also make their own waffle cones, but I always get my ice cream in a cup.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams – Menu with Prices – 4203 Park Rd, Charlotte

I was bummed to see the gelato place go, but was curious to see Jeni’s when I visited Charlotte. This is a small/growing chain of ice cream that sells some of its core flavors like Frosé, Darkest Chocolate, and Honey Vanilla Bean in pints at grocery stores and has scoop shops where you can buy an ice cream or something to take home. The shop was busy around early afternoon and had a line. The gals behind the counter moved quickly to fulfill the orders in a timely manner and were happy to answer any questions. Samples were not limited for their ice cream – that’s helpful when they offer their core flavors plus seasonal ones made in shop for a limited time. The gals were well-versed on the flavors they had in the freezers and it was clear they were enthusiastic about their workplace. I went with the Salted Peanut Butter with Freckled Chocolate in a waffle cone, my mom did the Butter Cake and Butter Almond Brittle flavors, and my dad did the Coffee. The waffle cones are made in house. My dad notes this ice cream has a smooth finish without a sweet or chalky aftertaste which one can experience with some ice creams. The flavors were well balanced. My one criticism is the waffle cone – while the cones were thick on the bottom point, mine was leaking very early on and I had to eat it very quickly. (Both of my parents had no issues with their cones.) Pricing is comparable to artisan ice cream shops. It’s a good company and they create some great flavors. I’d stop in again.

Monster Yogurt – Menu with Prices – 1360 W Campbell Rd #101, Richardson

Normally I would give them 5 stars. We have been there many times including today. This review is specific to today’s visit. We were sitting there enjoying our yogurt when we observed one of the staff in the process of making waffle cones. They had no food service gloves on. They were touching their face, touching many different surfaces, even used a fingernail to clean or get stuck food out of their teeth all while making the waffle cones bare handed. Plenty of cross contamination happening. The employee went to the case where the waffle cones are stored and put them in there. They walked away leaving the waffle cone case open as you can see in the picture below. We never get waffle cones and after seeing this we are glad we haven’t. If you go today, or any time soon I wouldn’t touch those waffle cones if I were you. They belong in the trash! We will go back but we wont ever be getting waffle cones there!

Goodrich Famous Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 4240 S 48th St, Lincoln

I love the ice cream at Goodrich. They have peppermint ice cream all year round. You get a generous helping and they have waffle cones, regular cones, and sugar cones. You can get two kinds of ice cream in a single scoop. They have a cinnamon ice cream that is really tasty! If you don’t want ice cream they have Colby ridge popcorn and candy into the store as well. If you are in Lincoln it is a fabulous place to get something sweet and tasty!!!

Tongue In Cheek Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 526 W Arapaho Rd, Richardson

As many folks, probably, I have loved ice cream as long as I can remember. Growing up, I had my favorite places and flavors. Now as an adult, I don’t do ice cream as much: there are so many options to choose from these days and often the flavors run together and look and taste the same. Not bad just not memorable. The norm. Meh. So I’d kind of lost my interest in ice cream. It wasn’t worth the calorie guilt… Unexpectedly on a Friday family fun night, Tongue in Cheek Ice Cream changed my ice cream blahs into ice cream hoo-rahs! I felt like I was tasting ice cream for the first time. Their chocolate is the best in texture and taste I have had in as long as I can remember. Their cookies-in-cream is the BEST hands down I’ve ever had. Same with the mint chocolate chip. Better than the 31 flavors I grew up on. So minty and full of chips, I felt five again. The peach and strawberry tasted so fresh and fruity. The passion of the owners comes through from the unique and interesting flavors to the first taste of the ice cream classics. The flavors are rich and deep, suggesting generous and high quality ingredients. You can tell there’s love mixed in (so you don’t need mix ins). The owners are regular folks with a passion that shines through, not only the ice cream, but their fresh baked waffle cones. There’s not much better than the smell and taste of fresh baked waffle cones! I love Tongue in Cheek’s ice cream and am appreciative of them helping me rediscover memorable ice cream this summer. I have returned many times already and plan to make them my regular temptation. One final comment about the price. I read a few reviews that complained. Be aware they do charge by weight. However, if you are concerned, then you can request a smaller scoop, like I did my first time. And you too might find yourself disappointed when the ice cream is gone. For me, the price is well worth it. Really, the price falls in line with other small batch high quality ice cream brands. Remember the saying “anything thing worth doing is worth doing well?” Well, Tongue in Cheek does ice cream well! It might be a little more than the mass produced ice cream places. But you get memorable fantastic ice cream and are able to support a local small business at the same time. Go. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. And when you go, don’t eat it all!!! Save some for me! Because I will be back soon…

Wild Scoops Menu with Prices 530 E Benson Blvd #7, Anchorage

Great little shop I’ve been wanting to try, but dread driving downtown so I never had to visit. Problem solved! They opened a second location in midtown. Yes! We visited after dinner and it was our first time here. The girls were very friendly and helpful. They offered samples, but I always feel weird asking for samples? I don’t know, I’m just socially awkward in that way. Anyway! I decided on the Sunshine Club in a waffle cone for $5 as a single scoop. The sunshine club is a sweet cream base with lemon curd and snickerdoodle cookie pieces. I know right?! The single scoop was more than enough for me, and I like to eat! It was almost too much. The combination of bright lemon totally helped ease the sweetness factor. Plus it is a great end of summer flavor. The waffle cone was tasty and delicate. Some waffle cones you get other places they’re pretty solid, but Wild Scoops has easy to bite cones. They have unique flavors as well as classics. They even had two vegan options available. The raspberry sorbet was a very close 2nd choice! They also offer floats with coffee or locally made root beer! They provide merch, complimentary water and feature local Alaskan artists on their gallery wall which I found very neat. Will return.

Honeycomb Creamery – Menu with Prices – 1702 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge

This place is really leaning into Camberville. hipster and I am here for it. Not regular coffee ice cream, but cold brew coffee ice cream (if I have to explain the difference its already too late for you). Rosé gummy’s. Goat cheese and Basil Ice cream (I got this and damn. this was basily. And I love it. Go big or go home). There were a ton of weird flavors which we tried most of and they were all quite good. You can get an ice cream flight. Thats just genius. But like everything hip there is a dark underbelly. They don’t do sugar cones. If you want a cone you are gonna pony up $1.50 for a homemade waffle cone. And its delicious and obviously if you are eating ice cream you are getting a cone because you aren’t a savage. But this bucking of the traditional cheap sugar cone for free is an aggressive stance and I can’t abide by it. Go here, eat their weird, delicious, flavors. Complain about the lack of a free cone. Remember that I went there before it was cool. Thats all I have to say on the matter.

Sweet Firefly – Menu with Prices – 2701 Custer Pkwy #810, Richardson

Sweet Firefly is my one and only go-to for delicious ice cream. I absolutely love the texture and flavors they offer each time. I especially come back for their bourbon vanilla, honey lavender, and sorbets. You can get it in a cone or cup! They even offer snow cones (I haven’t personally had those yet because I’m not a fan of snow cones) but I am sure it is as delicious. All their ice creams are store-made. They have seasonal flavors as well as ones that they have consistently. FYI, they do half-scoops, so you can pick 2 flavors for sweet mama, 4 flavors for sweet daddy etc. There’s really nothing I can say against Sweet Firefly. It is a perfect little shop that have won over my heart. I come here anytime I’m craving some gourmet ice cream and I’m more than satiated each time. Sometimes during their busy hours/days, seating is pretty limited and it might become cramped up inside the store with long lines and customers. Thankfully, there is a really beautiful “mini-park” area just across the lot with more space and benches under the shade of trees and lights that are lit up at night. So, bring your family! Bring your friends!! Sweet Firefly won’t disappoint ?

Lizzy’s Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 29 Church St, Cambridge

I’m going to be controversial and say that Lizzy’s is the best ice cream in Harvard Square. This review is going to focus on the strawberry, my go-to, but I’ve never been disappointed by Lizzy’s. There are real big strawberry chunks, it’s not too sweet, and it’s super creamy. It makes me a happy man. Strawberry may be one of the most basic flavors in the ice cream world, but Lizzy’s does its basics well. Pro-tip: You’ll get so much more bang for your buck if you buy a quart. You can effectively have 5 scoops in a quart for the price of 2 scoops. There’s also no tax on the quarts, which makes it even more cost effective. I know some people prefer JP Licks, but JP Licks is too vanilla (pardon the pun) for me. I’m taking a star off only because there aren’t freshly made waffle cones. There are cones but they seem to be pre-made and from somewhere else.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams Menu with Prices 800 Avalon Blvd, Alpharetta

Overall…just splendid!! Service: This place is small, but the staff is very efficient. They are quick to hand out samples and get your ice cream out to you. I mean? Why would they not be? This place can be packed especially during the summer and with the amount of foot traffic Avalon can get. The staff is used to it and they are ready for any rush. Food: delicious ice cream! Always something new to try out, but always stocked with the usuals. They have such unique flavors that you can’t find at any Baskin Robins or Brusters. Their ice cream is delicious and so light, that I never feel guilty after eating it. I recommend getting the Trio. Why? Well for $6 you get 3 half scoops and a large waffle cone chip. Why this and not just a cone? Well, I believe in optimizing what you pay for. For a cone, it’s $5 and you get one flavor. But with a Trio, you get to try 3 flavors for really only a $1 more. Sure, you don’t get to enjoy ice cream from a waffle cone, but it’s less of a mess and you get to try more flavors. The Trio was enough for both of us to share and not feel too full. 5/5 – because…I don’t always get ice cream, but when I do I always try to come to Jenni’s! I love this location because while I’m eating, I can go around window shop, and possibly burn off some calories from walking around a bit! It can get busy and it is hard to find seating around the building, but worth if you want good friendly staff and delicious ice cream!

Four Fat Cows – Menu with Prices – 68 North Marietta Pkwy NW Suite 101, Marietta

This dessert spot is located in Marietta square market, which is just opened up 3 months ago. There are paid and free 2-hour parking available on site. However, the quantity is limited, however, suntrust bank parking lot is available after 5pm to the public. Four fat cows is behind the lucky’s burger. The store sells cute kid stuff and stationaries at the entrance. They offer three different cones: sugar, waffle, and freshly made puffle cone. Since the puffle cone is made to each order, it slows down the service a bit. They offers a lot of flavors (refer to phots) and all ice creams are freshly made in a local ice cream place call greenwood ice cream in Chamblee. And ice creams in pint contains are available to purchase as well. We ordered vanilla and pistachio scoops. The ice cream is very creamy and silky, and rich in flavors. It has a texture like gelato. The only reason I took off one star was the price. $5 for one scoop of ice cream is a kind of pricy. But it is definitely worth a try. The shop offers other sweets like cupcakes too, we didn’t try them this time.

Here’s The Scoop Homemade Ice Cream – Menu with Prices – 818 E New Haven Ave #102, Melbourne

Absolutely loved my visit here! I found that the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I loved the variety of what they offered! I honestly can’t wait to come back to try more of their items – Italian ice, sundaes – you name it! On the particular day I visited, they even had avocado ice cream, which I found really unique. I got a two scoop of ice cream after trying a sample. My husband got a two scoop as well. It was delicious! The amazing part is that they offer really awesome cones – all at the same price. We picked a chocolate chip cookie cone, which truly added to our dessert. They have inside and outside seating, and they even allowed us to bring our dogs inside. A lot of previous reviews stated that it was hard to find, but the owner stated that it was due to the city’s regulations on how many signs are allowed. You just gotta map it out and look for the signs! I know they do their best to advertise. This “hidden” gem is worth the find! Please see the attached pictures to find your way easier. 100000% will be back! I’m new to Melbourne and my husband and I have been around town trying to find a new “go to” ice cream place. We’ve tried a few so far and they were mostly disappointing… this one may be the winner!

Wild Scoops Menu with Prices 429 E St, Anchorage

If you’re interested in some artisanal flavors that reflect the local tastes of Alaska, check out Wild Scoops. They source local Alaskan ingredients to put into their ice cream and offer non-dairy flavors as well. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety they offered at this little ice cream spot. They let me try the different flavors until I settled upon I wanted, then I asked for the Baked Alaska topping. I also asked for the waffle cone because it was for the ‘gram. I got the fireweed flavor which was fantastic. Fireweed is a flower local to Alaska and they definitely have incorporated it well as an ice cream. It wasn’t overly floral and had fruity notes. The Baked Alaska topping is more of a marshmallow cream than a meringue as the texture is different. It was torched behind the counter and definitely the way to go if you’re looking for a picture-worthy cone. The service was friendly and if I didn’t live out of state, I’d be a regular.
