My new Friday lunches are here! Wow! Honestly, Fullerton has NOT been a go to spot for sushi epic fail every time. However, this place is legit. It has so many options on the menu you can’t go wrong. They make their garlic chili oil spice on point which is added to many of their entrees. Not to mention their customer service is superb. The parking may seem like an issue but it’s simple park across the way and it’s much needed to do a lil walk after eating all the delicious sushi! It’s a small place so try to make reservations and their prices are more on the lower end yet don’t be fooled as their quality is definitely on the high end. I’ve eaten at many sushi places so for me to continually go back every week it HAS to be good and consistent. Let’s cut to the chase! Kat’s order: 1. Spicy Amber jack hand-roll – just order it, you’ll thank me later. I think this is the only place that I order Amberjack so that should give you an idea of how good this hand roll is! MUST start off with this, just order it before even looking at the menu so you can get the experience started! 2. Cajun yellowtail- that garlic chilli oil glaze on top 3. Toro sashimi- super fatty, very yummy 4. Large yellowtail collar- hands down best collar. Careful they run out of this fast! Who knew you can order a large but like I said this is a hot item! So delicious!! 5. Spicy tuna on crispy rice- delicious bite, easy to the whole plate less than a minute! 6. Calamari- not so much batter or oil. Crispy and you can taste the freshness! 7. Sea bream sashimi- this light citrus flavor with yuzu is so tasty in your mouth. It’ll make you crave for more. I could eat this every day so light and flavor is so delicious. 8. Ikura with quail egg topping- this is how to end every sushi meal. I literally can eat 4 by myself. It’s a dessert in your mouth. The combo of quasi egg and smelt egg all in one WOWZERS! Order this exact combo & it’ll change your life. That’s usually my order. I’ve tried the ramen and sashimi but let’s be honest we can only eat so much in one sitting. Go with the order above and you’ll be full. However, anything you order will be delicious! To top it off, they give ice cream on the house! Not going to lie the name threw me off…but I’m so thankful I went in! If you really like sushi and in the area must try this place! SO GOOD! They will have you at the first bite!

Sushi Katsu Menu with Prices 1446 N Portage Path, Akron

My husband and I love sushi/sashimi. We wanted to try a new place, and found this one out on TripAdvisor. . We got there to find the place busy, but everybody was already eating. Iâ??m mentioning this because it took us forever to get our order ready. . . First off, I didnâ??t like how they state the price on their menu; the price refers to payment in cash, so if you are paying by credit card, thereâ??s a 3.5% extra charge on everything you order. Weird!!! It would make more sense if they give some discount if you pay by cash – or simply put the final price with the 3.5% already in the menu. . . I thought that place was EXTREMELY overpriced! Iâ??ve eaten in various fancy sushi places, and found this one to be one of the most expensive. Rainbow roll for $15 (plus 3.5% if paid by cc!!) and (philly) temaki for $8.5 + 3.5% (ha ha ha!) were way too expensive!! And the temaki (aka hand roll) wasnâ??t that big or anything extraordinaire. . The crunchy spicy tuna was very spicy. I couldnâ??t eat more than 2 pieces (and i love spicy tuna/salmon). . We also got Angela roll and dreamin roll. They were okay. . . I consider this establishment a mediocre sushi place. Wouldnâ??t come back.

Bob Wasabi Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 1726 W 39th St, Kansas City

Some of the best sushi in KC. This is my goto sushi place if anyone asks me where they should grab sushi while they are visiting Kansas City. Here, the sushi is expertly prepared and ordering a Chef’s Choice of the sashimi or sushi-sashimi combo will not at all disappoint. Definitely ask about any sushi and sashimi specials they have, since they will often showcase unique and hard-to-find ingredients. The “Specialty Rolls” menu isn’t as extensive as some of the other sushi bars in the area, but that’s because the nigiri and sashimi are the stars here. If you want rolls with lots of bells and whistles, I would definitely suggest going elsewhere. If you have difficulty finding parking in the small lot in front of Bob Wasabi, park in the larger parking lot behind Jazz/Blue Koi/Black Sheep.

Sushi Yoma Japanese Restaurant – Menu with Prices – 11745 Jefferson Ave # 2, Newport News

I had really high hopes after reading the reviews on this place. To be fair, there were external forces that have helped continue to my overall assessment. I got there and they weren’t so busy, but it still took a bit to get water and a menu. Once I got a sushi menu, she took off for a while again, so there I sat playing games on my iPad. I had read about the Chirashi. Sashimi on top of sushi rice, so I inquired about that. She left again to grab yet another menu…Upon returning, I said I’d take one of those and what was their best roll to add to it. This seemed to befuddle her. I asked again, then what was your most popular roll, her response befuddled me. She said California roll. I thought, if THAT was your best selling roll, then the people coming here is the wrong crowd for me to be taking advice from. After I blurted out, how boring, she changed her tune to Volcano roll. The proceeded to try to talk me out of it, it’s hot and spicy (per the server). The roll arrived and while it was spicy, it was pretty much low on flavor though. When the sashimi arrived, some pieces were so big, I could hardly pick them up with my chop sticks. Not my favorite size of sashimi, overall not bad. I would say that overall it did not live up to ‘hype’ that I read about, and walked 2.4 miles in the cold to get there. (Not worth the walk).

Sushi Market – Menu with Prices – 435 Ionia Ave SW, Grand Rapids

Stopped in for lunch yesterday and was excited because.. sushi. Lunch special menu isn’t huge, but had enough to keep me interested. I got the Sashimi A – 12 pcs assorted & the Spicy Salmon roll. Both came out at the same time (on same board – which was nice) and quickly. First thing I noticed was how thinly sliced the Sashimi was – granted it was $10.. but still. Also, the red snapper was not good – tasted muddy, or like dirty water. I did mentioned this to the staff. The other fish was just okay, didn’t knock my socks off. Maybe I’m just used to the other sushi places.. The roll was fine, nothing fancy. It was $5 – I should have gotten two rolls for $8. All in all, just meh. If I’m looking for sushi, I may stick with my favorites around town. I did notice that their sushi platters seemed to be pretty reasonable and they said they could get them together rather quickly, too.

Arigato Sushi – Menu with Prices – 11199-A, Lee Hwy, Fairfax

Came here on a Monday night at around 6:30. There were about about 2 tables when we arrived. We were greeted by the chefs (I couldn’t exactly tell what they said because it was in Japanese but I know it meant something along the lines of “welcome”) then the servers prompted us to our seats and took our order. We were given a complimentary small dish of edamame and fried cream cheese I think and our food came out pretty quick as well. We ordered age dashi tofu to start with along with a sushi&sashimi combo, salmon combo, and tempura udon as our meal. Everything tasted great especially the tempura udon. The broth was exceptional! However, I didn’t really like the spicy salmon hand roll. It wasn’t like the typical spicy mayo flavor, it was more of a korean red pepper paste flavor. After we were done eating, the servers quickly took our empty plates and gave us our checks. Nothing extraordinary but overall a fine experience.

Hana Sushi #6 – Menu with Prices – 39760 Winchester Rd unit b, Temecula

This was my first time having sushi in Murrieta and I couldn’t be any happier with my experience. My BF recommended this place because I was craving Japanese food. We came on a Sunday around 4 PM for an early dinner and it wasn’t busy. The interior was nice and very traditionally decorated. Our server was super friendly and accommodating. She gave me miso soup on the house and engaged in a short convo with us. l Food l Spicy Pork & Assorted Tempura ($16) – Served with garden salad, miso soup, and rice. My BF isn’t a fan of sashimi so he usually goes for the Hana combos. When in doubt, you can’t go wrong with one of their combination choices. It has a little bit of everything. Oishii Sashimi Roll ($18) – Tuna, salmon, avocado, cucumber, red onion, kaiware, green onion, and masago. What caught my attention about this roll was the sashimi topping. I love tuna and salmon so this was the perfect combo! I love how there was extra sashimi on top. It was so delicious. The sashimi was thick and nicely cut. This was a very unique roll that I usually don’t see on sushi menus. Caramel Apple ($11.50) – Sliced caramel apple for dessert? I think YES. It’s interesting that they have this as a dessert option at a sushi restaurant. It comes in half size or full size. We had to get it and our server highly recommended it. We did not regret. It was thinly sliced so made it easy to eat. I love the whipped cream on the side. Overall, we had a 5 stars experience at Hana Sushi. The customer service was great and the staffs are so friendly. They offer a wide selection of food on their menu and have generous portions. Good quality food and a clean environment. I definitely will come again when I’m craving some sushi in Murrieta. We also entered in a raffle to win a gift certificate to their restaurant!

Ganda Sushi Express – Menu with Prices – 8008 Surrey Pl, Jamaica

Was in the neighborhood visiting a friend. She wanted sushi for lunch so we tried this local spot. On a Saturday at 1pm, this place was totally empty. Hey that’s not a good sign. But let’s just ignore that. Maybe it’s just a slow day. We take a seat and this old guy who looks like the chef, shuffles over and drops 2 menus on the table and walks away without a word. He had such a mean look on his face. Does he NOT want us to be here? But. let’s just ignore that. Everyone has a bad day now and then. We give him our order. Wow. My friend is ordering a big platter of sashimi. Just all raw fish. Nothing else for lunch. Me, I play it on the safe side and order a california roll and a salmon cucumber roll. Our food arrives. Hmmm… my sushi rolls are a bit messy looking. Does the chef even care about the food he’s serving? But, let’s just ignore that. Maybe I’m just thinking too much. We can’t make sushi rolls neat all the time… (Even though we are the only customers in here right now). So I look over at my friend’s dish. Yeah, that sashimi is plated okay looking. I didn’t think the sushi was all that fresh. I’ve had better sushi elsewhere.

Sushi Express – Menu with Prices – 610 University Ave, Madison

As always, Sushi Express is exactly what it claims to be-affordable sushi that is still delicious! You really can’t beat Sushi Express’ prices at $8.75 for two rolls. Although I’ve tried almost every roll there is to offer under this combo, I’d have to say my favorites are the spicy California, shrimp tempura, sweet potato tempura, and the Alaska roll. Their rolls are consistently good and fresh at a truly unbeatable price (and only $1 with no minimum for delivery!) I wouldn’t go as far to say that their sushi is gourmet or as good as, say, Red, but this place manages to offer bargain sushi that is still solid and won’t give you food poisoning. I’d also recommend the roll-combos as opposed to the specialty rolls, which are slightly less good. Sushi can occasionally arrive at room temperature but that hasn’t been a deal breaker. I’ve never been let down by Sushi Express in all 4 years of being a loyal customer. Would recommend their crab Rangoon as well-seriously the best I’ve ever had!

J:unique kitchen – Menu with Prices – 381 Cooper St, Ottawa

Visited Ottawa this past weekend and my friend kept raving about this place, and she doesn’t even like sushi! Our group of 10 was seated outside – perfect weather and gave us so much space. I heard it was very small inside the actual restaurant, but it was pretty small outside too. We were a group of 10 and only another table of 2 was available outside. For food, we ordered the gyoza, takoyaki, spicy salmon roll, red dragon roll, j:unique roll, sockeye salmon pressed sushi and the chef’s special sashimi platter. The presentation of each dish was very simple and neat, the red dragon roll and sashimi platter had the best aesthetics though! But more importantly, everything was delicious! There was not one dish that we did not like. All the sushi dishes tasted fresh and sooo tender that it melted in your mouth. Our favourite is definitely the sashimi platter – every piece was thick and super fresh. Even the shrimp sashimi was the biggest I’ve ever had compared to all sushi restaurants I’ve tried in my whole life. This was really worth your money! Definitely recommend this item. Service was also great! Our waitress was very sweet and always made sure we had everything we needed at every moment (but not overbearing YOU KNOW?). There was a button for us to press for service too if we ever needed anything and she wasn’t outside. Very small detail but made such a big difference to our experience! Food also came out at a reasonable time. No complaints what so ever about J:Unique! Glad this was the first stop for food during our trip in Ottawa – already excited to come back again!!

PHO AN SUSHI BAR 2 – Menu with Prices – 16000 Stuebner Airline Rd Suite H, Spring

I have been here once before and had their Pho, which I really enjoyed. This time, I was craving sushi for lunch. After a quick browse through the menu, I decided to start with a spicy scallop hand roll, which was quite tasty. I followed with some sashimi. I found the pieces to be very generous in size and extremely fresh. The chef was kind enough to prepare me some spicy ponzu sauce to go with it, which was fantastic. For the finish or main course, or whatever you want to call it, I chose the “special roll”. The work of art that was presented to me shortly after ordering was just as beautiful as it was delicious! Imagine a large roll filled with a variety of very fresh fish and topped with the contents of a great poke bowl. It was full of a wonderful variety of flavors and very satisfying. It was so tasty, I only dipped a couple of the pieces in my ponzu sauce… it just didn’t need any help, it was already so good. I’m going to dream about the special roll tonight. Mmmmmmmm!!! If you are a sushi fan, you definitely need to pay these folks a visit. If you aren’t, come by anyway. They have plenty of variety on the menu to satisfy pretty much any palate.

SUSHI HOUSE Menu with Prices 10955 Jones Bridge Rd Suite 112, Alpharetta

Sushi House is a long-time mainstay of Jones Bridge Road. It’s been there for many years. I used to go there in high school with my friend whenever the restaurant she worked at (Hachi Hachi Hibachi, closed now for over 10 years) down the street was closed. As such I’ve been able to see the progression of the restaurant such as the expansion. I recently came for dinner with my mom and dad. The expansion is pretty nice, there are some “booth” type seating areas, regular tables, and bar seating. The reason I put “booth” in quotations is that it’s not actually a booth, it’s a regular table and regular detached seats with a sort of enclosure around the area. Either way, it is nice semi-private seating. There was one other table seated at 4:45 PM on a Sunday, and while we were eating 2 more customers came in. The sushi here has always been nice and fresh and tasty. However what I definitely remember from before and after the renovation is the prices. This used to be a cheaper option for good quality sushi. The sushi prices have gone way up. I’m not talking a dollar or two per roll, I mean that there are legit several rolls on the menu that are $16 each. EACH! In light of that, my family decided to order strictly from the “classic sushi” menu which is more or less plain rolls with a few that are a little fancy. I also ordered a miso soup which was very good. My sushi order was 1 Alaska roll (salmon and avocado), 1 spicy tuna roll, and salmon nigiri. The salmon is exquisite, very fresh and buttery tasting. The spicy tuna roll was also very tasty but I would have liked a little less mayo in the roll. My mom got an Alaska roll and salmon sashimi and one more roll that I can’t quite place, and my father got a salmon skin roll, a spicy tuna roll, a salmon roll, and a shrimp roll. They also split an order of edamame with each other. We all enjoyed our food, but for 3 of us our total was $85 before tip. This is the same price we would have paid for an AYCE place a few miles down the road. Overall, the food and service were good, but man that price!

Oishii Teriyaki Menu with Prices 424 W Bakerview Rd # 101, Bellingham

Well, we have passed this place many times and today was the day to have a taste. We got there right at 11 AM and were greeted with a warm welcome and a lovely, “Hey ya’ll!” Music to this Southern girl’s ears. Husband ordered a Sapporo beer and I got a Korean Hite beer. I love trying international beers every chance I get. We got two orders of the tuna sashimi to start while we looked over the Sushi offerings. We agrees on the Emperor Roll and the Sea Dragon Roll. The sashimi was fresh, pink and oh so tender–best sashimi I’ve had in quite awhile. Just about the time we popped the last piece in–here come the rolls. An absolutely beautiful presentation and just as tasty. One more beer ordered for me and we dug in. Fresh and tasty is all I can say. We’re not dessert people but I couldn’t help but order a Spider Roll, it’s always a favorite for me. It came out and was simple and fresh and perfectly cooked. This delightful place just celebrated their 26th year in business and I can understand why…GREAT service, TASTY sashimi, BEAUTIFUL sushi and just a wonderful place to relax & enjoy. Noodles will be my next try as they sounded quite delicious on the menu.
