First time here and was a little trepidatious. Hadn’t heard anything about this place from anyone I trust. First things first – Parking is a friggin HORROR here! So your best bet – depending on the time of day is to park on Commonwealth. READ THE POSTED SIGNS! It’s…I would consider somewhat of a “dive” – and that’s not a slam. It’s simply put together smartly and inexpensively – which is BRILLIANT!! They – the Two Broads – have created a very comfortable atmosphere complete w a serious dedication to El is Presley! (Not sure too many millennials even know who that is ) The employees (?) at the counter were very friendly! They were welcoming and informative. And patient. There are Specials of the Day so there’s an enticement to go regularly. I ordered the Pestopalooza 14″ Pie and added jalapeños and bacon! YEAH BUDDY!! I enjoyed it A lot!! My friend ordered the Gluten-Free Cauliflower Crust and was impressed as to the texture. Is was super crispy and crunchy. I’m getting it had some sort of stabilizer as in RICE of POTATO FLOUR? It held together and still has the familial cauliflower after taste – which some will like and others won’t. It’s all about tasting and experiencing folks. Give it a shot! The Presley dedication is the first thing you’ll notice when you go to the bathroom. It can be described as a…tribute (obsession) – there are photos, news articles, velvet paintings and an alter! Pretty cool stuff! To be honest I was hoping they would work in some Elvis tunes into the music they were playing! (Hint hint) The atmosphere is super casual and you never feel rushed. The furnishings are wooden and hard – not too comfortable – but they work just the same. They are sharing tables. The ONLY troubling thing I saw – which I notice because as a chef I take special precautions to make sure that when the food is served theee is no chance of contamination – I saw some pizzas being delivered to Bootleggers – next door, without being properly covered – which is a HUGE RISK! (I was honestly surprised because they have pizza boxes so why not use them?) I imagine the food – which was pizza – was delivered at a tepid temp. I would seriously rethink this aspect. The Cinnamon Pizza Knots were tasty – but a little doughy – which just means I got the one that was dropped into the fryer last! They were tasty! The Chocolate Oreo Pie was served too cold. The plastic fork BROKE in it – which again poses a danger if the person is a moron and can’t see or feel when it happened. LIABILITY is a tricky thing! It was also a little to THICK for my taste. Any type of mousse / ganache cover cake should be creamy and silky. Maybe consider taking the cake out of refrigeration as soon as the order is placed to give it time to thaw a little? Anyway, all-in-all a good surprise! I will be recommending it and will be back another time to make sure my first experience wasn’t a fluke! Follow me here on Yelp or on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter – Chef Will Gotay aka The FoodPro! Hit me up and let me know what you think once you go!! Get your grub on folks!!!

Viking Pizza and Kabob – Menu with Prices – 3740 San Fernando Rd #2919, Glendale

The pizza and the hot wings here are different… in a good way! This place has made it on my “come back” list. Came here on a whim with my parents and we were craving some sort of Armenian or Mediterranean style “pizza”. Since Sipan was closed, we found this place and decided to give their Viking pizza a try. There was only one guy prepping food and taking orders and he was very nice and made us feel very welcome. We ordered the Viking pizza and the Viking hot wings but asked for the wings to be mild. The wings were smothered in this really tasty garlicky sauce. Yum! Although they were supposed to be mild, I didn’t think there was a hint of spicy in those wings. They were delicious though. The pizza was really good! It’s not greasy like most pizzas and had a very healthy taste to it because of all the fresh ingredients on it (although I totally don’t mind greasy pizza lol). The pizza was thin crust, which I am a fan of. They top of the pizza with a drizzle of sauce which taste like the sauce the wings were smothered in. We came in on a slow night, about an hour before closing so it wasn’t busy. Not sure how it is during the day or dinner time. Keep in mind seating is limited for it’s a small little place. Worth it to check out !

285 Colonial Kitchen Atlanta Menu with Prices 5610 Roswell Rd STE #110, Atlanta

Do they have a sixth star that I could give? I wish I could! I just went there tonight and let me tell you, WOW. Ordered every app in the menu and there was not one bite that didnâ??t raise all of our eyebrows in mutual wide-eyed delight as a perfectly balanced unique fusion of flavors made our taste buds dance. Wow Iâ??m sounding poetic- I normally donâ??t talk this way but maybe that because the food was poetry!! Truly a unique and delicious dining experience with a lovely atmosphere and comfortable neighborhood feel. Whatâ??s more- the service was wonderful! I am not sure if it was the manager, owner or chef, but he was beyond delightful, hospitable and friendly. He alone would make me want to come back for more-but heck- even if he were a jerk… the food is so great that Iâ??d still become a regular!

PICK’S At PLX Menu with Prices 530 Portage Lakes Drive, Akron

I’ve heard such great things about this place and I really wanted to love it. I went with my husband for dinner, and things were off to a great start. They had fantastic grapefruit martinis and the homemade white French dressing on my salad was delicious. However, there was a lot of shredded cheese that in comparison to the salad greens was hard and created an uninviting texture. My husband ordered the steak and red skin potatoes. His steak came out well done, and he ordered it medium. The potatoes were well seasoned, but dry. He ate his meal saying as he can eat well done, and he enjoyed the sear and seasoning on the meat. I ordered the salmon and risotto. There were long stringy pieces of onion in my risotto, which was basically rice with the taste of onions. It was not risotto. There should not be anything stringy in risotto, and it should not be a solid mass like mashed potatoes. The salmon was fishy and tasted rotten. When I told the server, she took it back immediately and apologized. However, I learned another customer had the same complaint, which led me to wonder a few things. First, does the chef taste what is being sent out? Do they feel comfortable serving bad fish, which can lead to serious food poisoning? Did they think the other complaining customer was lying? I ordered the margarita pizza instead of the salmon. It was a cheese pizza, not a margarita pizza. Just a cheese pizza with tomato on it. I’ve had real margarita pizza, and this was not it. Not even close. I did eat it because I was starving, and brought it home to my son with his 17 and will eat anything. So very disappointing. I doubt we will return, unless we just want drinks. I will say our server was very sweet.

Cake Passion by Kanica – Menu with Prices – 6260 Ceanothus Ln, San Jose

I found Kanica on Yelp and contacted her via Facebook. She was very responsive. I sent her picture of the cake that I wanted for my daughter’s birthday. She gave me some inputs, and we finalized and agreed over the phone. I was excited and also nervous to see the output, but when my husband brought the cake home, before I we opened the box, he said “it’s very beautiful.” And it was. I ordered a barnyard cake with buttercream instead of fondant around the cake (because I don’t like to eat fondant), but the barnyard and animals were fondant, and everything was edible. My daughter ate all the animals on the cake . I absolutely love and appreciate all the details Kanica put on the cake. Patterns of the woods, wool of the sheep, faces of the animals, etc.. were what makes this cake so beautiful. I can see the dedication she put on her work. We got great compliments on the cake from family and friends at the party. Kanica is also very sweet. She checked in with me before and after the party to make sure the cake is handled and served properly and if I had any feedback. I will definitely order cakes from Kanica for my future events and highly recommend her. She is very accommodating. You just need to let her know what you like. She can customize everything to your liking. But do contact her in advance for your events since she might be very busy.

Manhattan Pizza – Menu with Prices – 1600 Ronald Dr, Raleigh

Friday, 10/04/19 was my first visit to Manhattan Pizza. When we were in the area before we noticed this pizza shop and said one day we need to stop here. So, we stopped by here for lunch. It was nice and clean with a welcoming atmosphere. We ordered a small half pepperoni and half extra cheese pizza. And needless to say we were not disappointed. The young lady that took our order was super nice and polite. After taking our order she washed her hands, and proceed to make our pizza. And it was great! Now that we tried their pizza, I want to go back and try their Stromboli.  This is a place that I would recommend you to stop in and give them a try, I think you will like it too.

Fine Grind Cafe – Menu with Prices – 151 W 7th Ave # 100, Eugene

I finally had the opportunity to go into the cafe this afternoon for lunch while I was at work and I have to say that itâ??s perfect! I love the atmosphere and the owner is so sweet. I ordered the vegan chickpea salad sandwich and it was so good. I couldnâ??t even wait to go back so when I finished work I ordered the vegan double decker pepperoni pizza. The pizza was the perfect late night snack and I followed it up with some vegan brownies. There are books available to read, local crafts for sale and it has an all around relaxed feel. I certainly recommend checking this place out if you havenâ??t.

Delicias Bakery – Menu with Prices – 1704 Central Ave, Kansas City

I love the cake at this bakery. I have ordered many cakes from this place and have never been let down by flavor. They offer a variety of flavors and fillings as well as other desserts like cheesecakes and tarts. THE BAD: price vs. quality. I don’t mind paying good money for a product that’s worth it. I feel like the quality delivered on special order cakes from this bakery falls short. If you have “somewhat detailed or complicated” order the owner gets called to discuss your cake order. I dread this. He always seems in a hurry and doesn’t seem extremely interested in what your telling him. He’s very quick and the experience doesn’t feel like a consultation at all. When you’re spending upwards of $350-$400 for a cake, you want to be listened to, you want to make sure you’re getting what you think you’re paying for. He lacks this quality. Also, in comparison to other similar bakeries, Delicias up charges for a lot of design items that other’s don’t. THE GOOD: The cake is ALWAYS moist, the fillings are always fresh. Cakes have always been on time. You really can’t beat the taste quality of their cakes. Because the cake quality exist I will still consider this bakery an option, but for the price they charge they need to step it up on their delivery. They also offer single slices of most of the flavors they offer, which is good if you’ve never had cake from here and are looking to potentially order. Even when I’m not ordering a cake. I’ll stop in just to crab a slice. SUPER YUMMY! The front desk employees are always nice and ready to help as well.

Rustic Social House – Menu with Prices – 2083 Lake Shore Blvd W, Toronto

Rustic Social is a hidden gem, almost literally considering its hidden in a very residential condo area. But you’d be glad to have discovered it if you decide to venture out to the Humber Bay Park area and give them a try. The Chef’s Table experience is what you should be aiming to try here. Simply give Chef Ryan at least 48 hours notice with your preferences and he will concocted up a tasty menu for you and your guests. While we found all the dishes served to be pretty tasty, I was most impressed with the veggie based ones (and I am a IG meat eater!). And oh, the dessert beignets are out of this world light and flakey! At the end of the night, you get to leave a mark on the wall with a cattle brand. Definitely not something you get to do elsewhere! For those who appreciate a good cocktail, the bar manager here makes pretty potent cocktails that are dangerously smooth Highly recommended!

Wood Fired Pizzeria Gelato Spot – Menu with Prices – 10608 N 32nd St, Phoenix

I want to start by saying the Gelato is awesome. I used to visit the gelato spot when it was on 40th and greenway frequently and the product stays true to that location. It’s a great treat for dessert. The gelato still would get 4 stars. The restaurant experience however could use some work. The restaurant ambiance is excellent. New, clean and comfortable it could definitely be a great place to enjoy a meal, some drinks and/or dessert. However, our experience wasn’t great. I think it is stuck between being a casual pizza joint and a full service restaurant. If you ordered your pizza at the counter, received a number and had that called out when your order was done, plus self service drinks, it would work much better. We arrived around 5pm, were greeted (dine in?) and brought to a table. Waters were delivered promptly and we requested a moment to look over the menu. Silverware and napkins are in a jar on the table. After that, things went by pretty slow. We ordered the garlic bread to start, plus a bbq pizza and a cheese pizza. I totally understand pacing between an appetizer and pizza but it did stretch out a bit. We also just experienced some weirdness/lack of clarity and direction during the meal. At one point my girlfriend asked for a Diet Coke and the waitress took her water cup (still had about 1/4 water in it) and filled that up with Diet Coke, which obviously tasted watered down. Plus now she didn’t have a water. Then we asked for a box (had half a pizza left each) and the box was for a 10″ pizza.. when our pizzas were 12″. So we are supposed to shove an entire 12″ pizza into the 10″ box? I’m not sure if the waitress miscalculated or they only have one size of box. After clearing some plates she asked if we would be wanting Gelato and we said yes. She said “great!” And walked off. We assumed she would return with the menu again or something (it has flavors listed) but she returned about 10 minutes later saying we could go up front whenever we wanted to pick out gelato. It was just confusing and made us feel awkward but how are we to know that is the process? Then the check was delivered and we say for about 10-15 minutes wondering if we should go to the front and pay or not. The restaurant was empty, there was one other table that left before us so sitting for so long in between courses and to pay the check just felt a little excessive. Again, I think this place is torn between casual and full service. As for the food itself, it was mediocre. The bbq chicken pizza was fine, I did like the tangy sauce. My girlfriend did not like her cheese pizza though.. there was something off about the flavor. She only ate one piece. Overall, I really think if this was more of a casual “order at the counter” type of place it would work better. The gelato is absolutely worth a visit but I am not sure I would return for the food.

Chef Flemming’s Bake Shop – Menu with Prices – 7 S Water St # B, Henderson

Amazing custom cakes and customer service. We started by stumbling across this local bakery for a morning cinnamon roll and sticky bun (theBest!). We ended up ordering our Baby shower custom cakes and cupcakes that were the beautiful centerpiece of our baby shower. We cake tested with Chef Flemming and decided upon a two layer (lemon cake/lemon curd on top and strawberry shortcake/vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream for bottom layer),and marble cupcakes with Belgian chocolate. Val the lead cake decorator made the cake look exactly like I wanted on top, a pink fox face and she came up with the birch woodland theme bottom to coincide with our theme. It turned out beyond our expectations for Looks and taste! All of our guests ate a piece of each flavor and the cake went fast. So glad I ordered a bit larger to have a few left over slices. We will definitely use Flemming’s for our custom orders. Shop local!! The other Bigger commercial bakery across town was going to charge me what I paid for all of this for just a small 8″ round single layer cake…..I’m so happy I found Flemming’s before I decided to order with them. The quality and beauty and personal service far exceeded what the other place would have delivered. Thanks Chef Flemming and Val!!! And everyone. You made our baby girl’s shower so special

Jovic Bakery – Menu with Prices – 870 Webber Greens Dr NW, Edmonton

Ordered a cake with 24 hours notice for our companies 1 year anniversary. Got a call from the owner 9 hours later letting me know that they won’t be able to finish the cake in time for pick up, and that they confirmed the order without double checking the pick up time. I let her now that it’s really short notice for them to let me know about this issue, and tried to make other arrangements but to no prevail, as I needed the cake before noon. She called me back 20 minutes later letting me know that if the cake isn’t ready in time, they will give us a carrot cake instead and a refund. Came in to pick up the carrot cake this morning, and the young lady that helped me (black/brown curly hair, long eyelashes) wasn’t pleasant at all. She was very short spoken and seemed annoyed by me. Didn’t show me the cake, just put it in a box and gave it to me. “Is this the carrot cake?” I asked her. Every reply was a “Yep.” They also didn’t give me a refund on the credit card used, just cash and no receipt. The cake that was substituted was tiny and so dry (this cake is old), no one wanted to eat it. So now, we’re grabbing a cake somewhere else last minute, which is what I feared we’d have to do. I called the owner this morning to update her about the lack of customer service I experienced in store, as well as the experience we had with the carrot cake itself. She felt it was necessary to talk over me, to the point that I had to ask her to stop so she could at least hear what I had to say. Although they did try to make up for their mistake, I am extremely disappointed in the fact that they gave us an old cake along with a horrible attitude. The owner did offer to make another cake free of charge, but I’m not interested. Definitely do not recommend.

Golden Boy Pies, Inc. – Menu with Prices – 4945 Hadley St, Overland Park

After finally finding out who was supplying Town Topic’s pies we called to order a few items. You can order retail from them after calling and “setting up an account”, which is no more than giving your name, address, and phone number. You have to give them a 24 hour notice on what you want and pick it up yourself, no delivery. If you order on a Friday, it will be a Monday pickup. Wow! These folks make THE best pie crust I’ve ever had! So flaky and buttery tasting! I got the butterscotch, which is fantastic! Not sure I’ll be able to convince myself to try anything else…pie-wise. We also got the chocolate cream cheese cake, which I haven’t tried yet because of the pie;-) Very reasonably priced considering I got a whole pie and cake for a fraction of what you’d pay at a restaurant.
