First time at the chicken shack and I had some expectations. Menu Presentation 2/5 : The menu is a bit cumbersome to navigate through and there was some errors within the sauces descriptions. There was a comma missing between flavors and that jumbled up two sauces making me believe that they had a ‘damn hot bbq sauce’ Instead, it was Damn Hot, BBQ Sauce. Disappointed I still ordered and was then asked if I wanted sauce on the side or on the wings – that’s cool to have the option. Seating/presentation 3/5 : It was kind of busy and that’s a good sign. Found some seats quickly though. The seating seems adequate. Some tables were clumped together and limited group size. Venue size is accounted for but it’ll do. Wait Time 4/5: Wings/Strips/Fries. The wait time was rather quick. Anyone would want their food fast, but this is chicken and I want it fresh. The wings were hot to touch but the chicken strips weren’t that great temperature wise and the fries (shoelace) were nice and crispy to the touch. Drinks: Pepsi Products & A smaller machine with Brisk and Sobe. – Not picky with drinks. Flavor 1/5 : Although they did sauce the wings generously, this is where it hurt the most. I tried 4 of the sauces; Honey Habanero (Maybe?), Grizzly Garlic, Chilie Lime & zsechuan Honey Habanero: Where’s the habanero? If there was any habanero in the sauce I would be very surprised. It didnt taste like it at all. Tried the sauce by itself after several bites and could hardly get any notes of spice. Grizzly Garlic: not enough garlic and not enough grizzly. Whatever that is. Chili & Lime – and odd mixture of spices that belong better on a pot of chili instead of wings. The hints of chilies fell flat and the lime was the only thing that tingled the pallet. Zsechuan Sauce: very runny sauce that hardly adhered to my chicken fingers. The chicken fingers had a very poor amount of sauce on them. Most of it was on the bottom of the basket paper. Tried many times to get a full taste of the sauce but it was lacking on all ends. Low flavor, runny and flat on the pallet. Wings/Chicken fingers. 2/5 – Wings have a nice size and they’re mixed with flats. The strange part of these wings are that they are breaded prior to being sauces. Typically when someone expects wings. They expect bare wings to be fried not battered thick then tossed in the fryer. They were still tender in the inside but the exterior batter was too thick. Another gripe I had with the chicken shack was the batter on the wings and flats. Is that it did not compliment the sauces that I chose and it amplified that chili bean taste for my chili & lime sauce wings. I had someone else try them and they came up with the same hypothesis. Could be a indication of too much cumin, onion powder in the sauce. It was not a pleasant surprise and made me a bit suspicious that these wings weren’t made fresh but instead are kept under a heat lamp unlike their competition. Chicken Fingers: White chicken breast with a light batter but dry. Not to the point where I had to guzzle water to drink them down but enough to promote a dissatisfying experience for a new comer like me. They were slightly tough and the sauce was no where to be found to redeem their lack of juiciness.

Wings and Tea Cafe – Menu with Prices – 10709 Town Center Dr #110, Rancho Cucamonga

Came here for some wings for the cross rival Lakers-Clippers game. And wanted to try a different place other than wingstop. So after some research I decided to give this place a go. I went with 80 bone in wings, and it came out to about $70 which is a tad on the high side. Placed the order over the phone, and the lady over the phone was really nice. Actual restaurant is right next to the terra vista movie theater, and is pretty small inside. By the time I got there, 30 min later the wings were ready. Customer service is on point. They even seperated all the different flavors with foil and even labeled each one so we knew which flavor is which, which was really nice. They even gave me a large box to carry them in which is just so thoughtful!! The chicken wings were well cooked. Tender and moist. Not dry at all. Actual skin was crisp and well seasoned. I tried several of their flavors including thai chili, mango habanero, lemon pepper, garlic parmesan, honey garlic and buffalo garlic. Flavors were all solid. Mango habanero was spicy but not as hot as the ones at wingstop. The honey garlic was really good as well, lemon pepper slightly too salty. Thai chili had a nice kick to it. Overall, this is a solid wing place, and it doesn’t hurt to have some boba and tea drinks to go with it too. Wouldn’t mind coming here again for my chicken wing fix. Solid place here in the heart of Rancho Cucamonga!!!

Wingo?s Glover Park (Wisconsin Ave) – Menu with Prices – 2218 Wisconsin Ave NW, Washington

I was craving some wings so I tried out Wingo’s…I was quite disappointed. First off, the service was a little off? The hostess was also our server but for some reason she looked really uncomfortable and it wasn’t the most welcoming entrance…I don’t know if she had a really bad day or something but she just looked like she was in pain. My friend and I figured out what we wanted very quickly but we had to wait a while for someone to come by and take our order. We practically just stared at the hostess till she came over and took our order. We got the 20 wings and asked if we could have 4 sauces (10 wings per sauce) but she said no…so we just opted for 2 sauces- Mombo and Hot Garlic. We also ordered fries on the side. Food-wise, I would say the fries were the best part. They were perfectly crispy and delicious. The wings were a bit disappointing. They were small and the sauces tasted average. I was super excited to try the Mombo sauce because I heard that this was a native DC sauce. Despite ranking high on the “spicy” level, it tasted like a sweet thai chili from a chain wing restaurant. I also don’t think this was the same Mombo sauce that every DC person raves about. The Hot Garlic sauce tasted just like a average buffalo sauce with sprinkled garlic powder on top. There was also a bottle of that same buffalo sauce on the table… Our bill came out to ~$14 per person but I’m not sure if the price justified the quality. I don’t think I would be returning…

The Buffalo Spot – Menu with Prices – 3740 Iowa Ave Ste 106, Riverside

Shocking. The Baffalo Spot is just not it for me whatsoever. I was actually pretty excited to try this place because I am always into good wings, sauces, and fries I mean who isn’t?! Walking inside it reminded me A LOT of Wingstop (in terms of style and decor). The big thing about the Buffalo Spot is their “world famous buffalo fries”. What they are is fries, that come with nugget-like fried chicken on top along with whichever flavor you’d like for example mild, hot, lemon pepper, garlic parmesan, honey bbq, teriyaki etc…. You can get wings on the side (bone in or bone out) and they also have chicken tenders. For the wings and tenders you can get anywhere from a 5-20 piece. I chose to get the world famous buffalo fries with medium sauce along with 5 boneless wings on the side which I chose garlic parmesan after the employee told me it was her favorite. I’m going to start with the sauces, gross. The flavor was just non savory whatsoever. Medium didn’t have a hint of fire, it was kind of sweet if you ask me. Garlic Parmesan flavor was just greasy mayo like flavor. Yes I said it mayo. THE CHICKEN- just NOT GOOD. For this being a WING place, I didn’t understand how poorly everything tasted. The boneless wings were just not good. No matter what flavor the chicken had it wasn’t good quality boneless chicken wings, I don’t think any flavor would make them good. I feel the exact same about the chicken on the fries, It’s just not of good quality, it was like a gross version of McDonald’s chicken nuggets cut up smaller with a bunch of sauce on top. The fries were decent, but soggy. Just my opinion. Very disappointed with the quality of the chicken wings/nuggets.

Chicken Guy! – Menu with Prices – 19565 Biscayne Blvd Ste 2946, Miami

I was expecting a lot more from this place, I ordered a chicken sandwich simple enough with two sauces; spicy mayo and garlic sauce. I have to say I was extremely disappointed, seasoning should be added to the batter maybe it wasn?t added that day. I will say the sandwich is well made with good presentation but it lacks in flavor even with the added sauces. I also ordered a side of fries that you have to pay for separately which is fine but they were tepid. The flavor of the French fries were nice but the temperature not so hot. I?d even say the fries are better than five guys which are usually too greasy. I was not satisfied maybe you will have better luck or know exactly what to ask for when ordering. Fries extra hot & crunchy, sandwich flavor please.

Touchdown Wings at Chattanooga – Menu with Prices – 4921 Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga

I got the 10 wing combo with sweet chili sauce. My son got the garlic parmesan. They were cooked crisp which I like, but small in size. My sauce was good, but my son didn’t care for his. The wings looked like the garlic parmesan was drizzled over instead of tossed. I rolled one in the sauce and it was better. They give you plenty of fries with the combo. My daughter got chicken tenders which were good size, but tasted like they were frozen. They have fish, shrimp, and more on the menu and you can choose from many sides. My family wasn’t impressed, but I will stop again for the $6.99 combo special to try more sauces from which there are 30 to choose from.

The River’s Edge – Menu with Prices – 1150 Warfield Blvd suite b, Clarksville

First time in and was really pleased. We sat outside on the patio and at first the weather was nice and over cast but as soon as the sun came out we quickly raised the umbrella and it was getting a little warm. I do however suggest on cooler days or overcast days to sit out on the patio and enjoy the weather and scenery. Wait staff knowledgeable and very nice. indoors looks tyipciall grill/bar décor with tall wooden back booths etc but everything is very clean and NO bar “smell” of sour beer and liquor ? We decided to skip the 20 minute lunch they were offering and just do appetizers as we weren’t terribly hungry, also nothing on the quick lunch menu really fancied either of us. Went with Dirty fries and wings, you get 10 wings and can get more than 1 flavor on the plate. We got maple bacon and parmesan garlic, both were wonderful but my preference was the parm garlic as the other was just ok my daughter LOVED the maple bacon one so it worked out. the dirty fries were enough for 3-4 people easily. I wasn’t expecting the chili with beans on it, it seems to make the fries a little soggy. I don’t like beans in my chili but there wasn’t a lot and easily picked out. I will say the chili did not look canned- it looked fresh made. hard to taste just the chili underneath all the cheesy topping and bacon though. We will be back as the wings are HUGE and not lacking in flavor!

Lunitas To-Go – Menu with Prices – 5128 Farm to Market 1960 Rd W, Houston

5 star alert!!!!! Wow this is a really good spot! Everything was amazing! Food: empanadas were simply amazing. I got the cheese, chicken and beef. My favorites were the cheese and beef. The beef are good as well too. The habanero hot wings were very tasty too. The ranch is really good too. The cheese empanadas have so much flavor. I say try every one of them just so you can get the taste from all of them. Also, the fried pork was simply amazing! Full of flavor and very tasty. All of the sauces that came along with the meal are so good as well. The are extremely nice and doing such a great job at his hidden gem on 1960. The manager is super nice and very personable. I will definitely visit this spot again! If you are in the area I highly suggest you give them a shot. You will not be disappointed.

Lord of the wings – Menu with Prices – 6436 Pacific Ave, Stockton

*DRUM ROLL PLEASE* …… Soooo let me just put this out there , i absolutely love fried chicken ! i truly do & i love it even more when it’s cooked and fried right . i’m probably the pickiest person when it comes to chicken because it has to have that good crispy crunch on the outside . but when you bite into it , it has that good tender meat on the inside . OF COURSE from the reviews this place comes highly recommended . and it’s always refreshing to see black owned businesses and ones that are reasonably priced . i brought my kids along with me after procrastinating for a few days . i will admit i do love the lemon pepper chicken , it’s actually really good . it has the right amount of lemon pepper seasoning to it as well . i will come back for those for sure . i bought two 10 pieces : bbq , teriyaki , lemon pepper of course and garlic parmesan . BBQ wings : flavor wise it was 8/10 , it was a tad on the spicy side but it’s okay Teriyaki wings : flavor wise 8/10 . Lemon Pepper wings : flavor wise 10/10 Garlic Parmesan wings : flavor wise 7/10 – i wasn’t a big fan of the garlicky after taste . overall the wings were great ! my kids loved them & my husband said they taste like wings he would cook so that’s a huge plus ! i will definitely come back to this one to continue to support . somebody put these people on diners drive ins and dives !!!

Wicked Chicken – Menu with Prices – 26583 Golden Valley Rd, Santa Clarita

I’m always looking for a new place to try… today I was in the area of Wicked Chicken and decided to swing by for lunch. I was greeted by a friendly and helpful gal at the counter who gave me the scoop on their various offerings and sauces. The dining area was clean and nicely appointed with a sports theme and plenty of tv’s for viewing games. As for the food and price, average at best. Upon ordering my meal the gal at the front counter informed me that their wings were “à la carte” because chicken was too expensive for them to have combo meals but I could add a side and drink for $5 more. A little TMI and tacky on the “cost of doing business info”. Now for the real issue, taste… my ice tea tasted nasty, I’m pretty sure it was the canned powdered Lipton kind. I ordered Garlic Parmesan wings, but was only able to eat 3 wings before the strong lemony after taste got to me. I didn’t taste even a hint of garlic and the parmesan that was so sparingly sprinkled on the outside, I thought it was a garnishment instead of a main ingredient. I actually asked an employee if somehow I had gotten the wrong order, although I was the only one in the restaurant at the time, but was assured I had indeed received Garlic Parmesan wings. So bottomline, friendly employees and a nice dining environment but it’s a hard pass for me to return… too many other really good options to spend my dining dollars on.

The Thirsty Donkey Menu with Prices 4100 4th Ave S, Birmingham

I really enjoyed my experience here with a couple of good friends! First off I’m really glad a tropical/carribean themed restaurant has opened up in avondale. It really is a nice touch and adds to the variety of eateries in the location. The spot is very noticeable but just like every eatery in avondale you have to rely on street parking, so keep in mind when it gets very busy. The interior for its small size can be a little roomy and also includes outdoor seating which is a very nice touch. The server we got was very informative and extremely friendly to us as well as the managment. Now what my friends and I ordered were the sloppy Juan, fish and chips, pimento cheese and a order of wings. We also ordered a couple of cocktails they serve too. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious and pack full of flavor besides one dish. They also bring the food out in a really quick speed which is very nice. Now the sloppy Juan is a vegan (or sub for pork)chorizo on a vegan roll with loaded guacamole. This sandwich is AMAZING with a little bit of a spicy sweet kick. I highly recommend getting this if you love a sloppy joe but with a slight twist towards it. My friends ordered the fish and chips and wings. The fish and chips were shaped round, it was also flaky and came out steaming hot but was a little small in size and portion. The tartar sauce that was a choice to come with the fish and chips was a great addition but if you dont like tartar sauce they have other options too. Now the wings were very disappointing. You get eight pieces of assorted wings which are marinated, baked then fried. The wings come in six different sauces and were small in size and were very dry. The sauces wasn’t flavorful one bit and was just a let down. The cocktails were absolutely on point and enjoyable. We ordered the Irmaria and tuff mule. Irmaria is mixed with light & dark cruzan rum and your choice of coconut, banana, mango or pineapple cruzan topping. Tuff mule is with light rum, lime juice and ginger beer. Both of these drinks are a must and both are highly refreshing. Overall my friends and I had a wonderful time with really great service and really good food (besides the wings) and great refreshing drinks! I highly recommend when the weather cools a bit to sit outside and eat or drink with the nice choice of music. (Edit: the pimento cheese was tasty too! It was one of our favorites and a fan favorite there to enjoy.)

Tuptim Thai – Menu with Prices – 2121 N Rock Rd STE 300, Wichita

Everything had raw cabbage on it. I love cabbage but it would’ve tasted better with some pickling or cooked a little. We asked for Thai-hot for appetizers, and they said they couldn’t do it; only for entrees. We ordered the tiger cry beef appetizer and tuptim wings. Beef was dry and chewy; Wings were deep fried (no batter though) tossed in a sweet sauce. Meat was dry too. We prefer these exact apps from Thai Tradition. Thai Tradition has two types of fried chicken wings that are equally delicious. The tiger cry beef there is amazing too. Their appetizers are like flavor parties in your mouth; they will make it as hot or mild as you like! We ordered the Tuptim Passion as an entree and it had great flavor and was actually the perfect heat and spice. It just wasn’t my favorite dish because it had “land” meats lol. I’m a seafood gal. Thankfully, my boyfriend ate the beef, chicken and pork. It’s a nice restaurant. Very modern, romantic and clean inside. Service is good. I like the tray of chilies they bring out. If you know me, a meal is incomplete without heat! I am a chili pepper freak! Hot sauce in my bag, Swag kinda gal. The food is not mind-blowing good so I don’t think I will come back unless it’s the last Thai place in town.

Sticky Rice Lao Cafe – Menu with Prices – 8220 Louetta Rd #100, Spring

If you have never tried traditional Lao food or have been curious this is a great place to experience the different cuisine Laos has to offer. I can truly say this because my aunt and cousins are cheffing it up in the back! A wonderful family owned establishment on the north side of town located off of Louetta not too far from the Vintage Park area. They serve up a variety of items likely to cater to everyone’s palette. I visited last Saturday with my parents to have dinner. We ordered a few items: Gai Tod/Chicken wings (4/4) Sai Oui Sausage/Lao Sausage (5/5) Pad See Ew (5/5) Nam Khao (4/5) Lao Pho (my dad ate this, I didn’t get to try it) Kaffir Lime Fish (5/5) The wings and sausage are both served with sticky rice and a vinegar fish sauce with chili pepper to dip. The Pad See Ew noodles were fresh with a good serving of chicken and chinese broccoli. The Nam Khao had a slightly sweet taste to it than I am use to I think it was the peanuts. I like mine a bit more sour/tangy so you can request extra lime to squeeze over top and wrap in the lettuce. The Kaffir Lime Fish is pungent and flavors are robust. If you don’t like fish sauce I would recommend not to get this but man is it bomb with some hot steam rice. My dad scarfed down the Pho so I am guessing it was good. Come in and support this local business! They also offer catering for events and have a food truck for various food festivals around the city.
