Souplantation is Souplantation. What I mean is if you want soup and salad, Souplantation is a good option. Positives: The line is never long at this location and there’s never a wait for tables. The salads are all fresh and soups are what you’d expect. They seem to have started to include some protein salads like oriental chicken salad. My husband and I always enjoy the clam chowder and sweet potato yams. I always enjoy their cornbread and pizza. Their soft serve never disappoints. Negatives: our table wasn’t bussed even once before we were done with our meal. They used to have freshly baked chocolate cookies at the dessert bar, but I haven’t seen it for awhile. Tip: if you check in, you get 15% discount without purchase of a drink (with the coupons, you need to always purchase a drink for the discount)

Souplantation – Menu with Prices – 26420 Ynez Rd, Temecula

Souplantation (Temecula, CA) Souplantation has been around a long time. I remember my first visit to a Souplantation. It was back in the mid 80’s and I hated it. I ain’t got no time for soup and salad. That was then, this is now. Now that I’m older and a lot rounder, Souplantation is great. An all-you-can-eat meal here cost about $10. Lines are long and but only because some people take their sweet time packing their plates. Otherwise, service is quick. Lately, I’ve been keeping it simple with a few scoops of salad, 3 bowls of chili with a lot of cheese & sour cream, couple of cups of boiled eggs, a bowl or two of cottage cheese, and if available, a few sides of chicken breast. I had their cauliflower rice mash on my most recent visit. This item is new and currently being tested. If they asked me, I’d tell them to keep this item. It’s good and tasted pretty close to mash potatoes without all the starches. Their chowder is pretty good too and shouldn’t be neglected. Overall, I am a fan. TIP: Parking is a beast during lunch time. 2019 Yelp Review #18

The Gift Box & Tea Room – Menu with Prices – 3330 Partner Pl # 120, Lexington

Nice little tea room on the other side of the Gift Box gift store. Sandwiches, quiche, salads, and soups are offered, as well as dessert. I had a sampler platter which included quiche, chicken salad, mandarin tea salad (which was basically a jello salad), and friendship bread (a sweet-tasting bread). I also tried the loaded potato soup, but I was not really a fan of that. Many of my friends ordered the sandwiches (pimento cheese, chicken salad, or egg salad) and they looked very good. If you like tea you can purchase hot tea by the pot (small or large). I did not try the desserts, nor did any of my friends. Our server was friendly and attentive.

Whiskey Brown’s Farmhouse Kitchen – Menu with Prices – 2025 Golf Course Rd S, Salem

While our server wasn’t quite as attentive as expected but she was pleasant. The scenery is beautiful as we sat outside watching the evening golfers. My mother and I came for my birthday as my son works here (recent culinary school graduate). We each had a pre-dinner drink, a drink with dinner and dinner was perfect. She had tenderloin and I got the ribeye. Ribeye was fatty but then again…ribeyes are fatty. Our only complaint would be that for $28 you would expect the side salad to come with it and not have to pay an extra $7.00. The plates are all nicely presented and the food is made from scratch so you will have to wait. This is not fast food so sit back and enjoy the beautiful scenery. After dinner we sat on the outdoor couches and enjoyed an after dinner drink and a dessert. Waitress was advised I get a birthday dessert but we were charged for it- oh well. Overall a great meal, slightly pricey for steaks without a side salad but very fresh ingredients and real cooking (not open and warm garbage).

Shinju Japanese Buffet Menu with Prices 7875 Glades Rd, Boca Raton

Yes, I AM a fan, a BIG fan BUT- We have a monthly lunch with friends at the Shinju on Glades Road in Boca Raton, Florida. In early July, 2019, our group had our monthly lunch there. We like the cleanliness of the restaurant, the efficiency and courtesy of the Wait Staff, the selection of Sushi, salads, the hot and cold foods, the Wok station and the dessert selection. Unfortunately, on our last visit, those of us who selected items from the steam table all agreed that the food in those trays was NOT hot. One of our group said one of the items he selected was cold. I mentioned this to the hostess at the front desk. She did go back to check and returned to tell us that the steam table was as it should be. We didn’t want to argue as we were close to having dessert. However, without question, the food on the steam table was, as best, warm. None of it was HOT. Most of us start our meal with the Sushi and salads before we start with the hot food (Wok station, Steam Table). Food in those steam table trays should be kept hot. We decided the next time we visit, which we will, we will first check some of the items on the steam table. If we are not satisfied those trays are as hot as they should be, we will leave. We suggest you consider doing the same.

The Fish House Restaurant & Seafood Market – Menu with Prices – 4910 N Clinton St, Fort Wayne

The kitchen needs Chef Ramsay! First time at this restaurant. Three employees were trying to fix the front door. They all greeted us and the hostess promptly seated us. The bartender/waitress (B/W) quickly appeared explained the it was 1/2 off wine by the glass night. She left us to look over the menu. We ordered a glass of wine each. I ordered 1/2 dozen raw oysters to be served as my meal (they were very large and wonderful). My husband ordered scallops with asparagus and crab slaw salad. About 15 minutes later 4 people were seated behind us. Over 30 minutes had passed since we ordered and my husband’s salad still had not been delivered. The table behind us got there crab salads, I said to the B/W excuse me where is my husband’s salad and I pointed to my watch. She said she was going to check and that there were only 2 people in the kitchen and that everything was made to order. I then walked around the restaurant to see how many people were in the restaurant. A couple had leftovers already bagged, 2 gentlemen were finishing their meal, a family of 6 were eating, us, and the table of 4 behind us. Definitely not a rush on the kitchen. I asked the hostess if there was a mgr on duty, yes a GM was there. As I was explaining to the GM, my husband’s salad came to the table as did my oysters. The B/W immediately returned with my husband’s dinner. The GM apologized and said she would comp our meal and give us dessert. I said that was nice, but not expected and I thanked her. The scallops were small and the asparagus woody ends were never cut off. He left those pieces on his plate the B/W asked if he didn’t like the asparagus. He replied, not the tough woody ends. She obviously told the GM, because we could here her talking to the chef about who made the asparagus, how long ago was it made, then she said it all needed to be thrown away. She then came out to the table behind us and told the woman not to eat the asparagus on her plate because it wasn’t any good and that she would compensate her for it. I did get some items from the salad bar, which was good. Dessert was never offered. We did tip on the full bill prior to the compensation. Sure hope they can turn the kitchen around, because this restaurant has good potential.

LongHorn Steakhouse – Menu with Prices – 2310 Lincoln Hwy E, Lancaster

We used call ahead seating, which was great – we were seated within 5mins of arrival at 5:20pm (2 adults, 2 children). Our waitress Mya was very nice, took our drink/appetizer order promptly. When she came back, we were ready with our order. She left and we sat and chatted watching the tables around us. People who had ordered after us were getting their salads… then their meals… and we still didn’t have our salads and no sign of Mya. When she finally walked past our table (wasn’t stopping, but i caught her attention) I asked if our salads would be arriving. She said yes and left. She came back and apologized – she had forgot to put our order in and that the kitchen was going to ‘fast track it’ (we all had steak and mine was to be well done). over an hour later, we still didn’t have our meals. She didn’t offer to bring anything for the kids to snack on… she did offer more bread. We spent 2 hours total at the restaurant… not once did a manager or anyone stop by to check on us. I took our youngest to the bathroom and saw another waitress and asked her if she would have a manager stop at our table. I told her we’ve been here over an hour and that our waitress forgot to put our order in – she responded “Oh, I heard about that”. The kitchen manager came out a few mins later and apologized. She also said she gave us a ‘deep discount’ – which was the employee 25% off. I was expecting WAY more than that – and at that point, the meal should’ve been free. This was one of our worst dining experiences and we will not be going back again. Our Father’s Day dinner was definitely unforgettable. I’m thankful for my husband who grabbed the Kindle Fire on the way out the door…otherwise, our 4yr old would’ve been a mess.

Obed & Isaac’s Microbrewery – Menu with Prices – 500 S 6th St, Springfield

I will break this review down into segments as I believe my negatives are more slanted towards my own inclinations and not the mass populace. Because of this I am giving 4*, even though my personal opinion is closer to a 3*. Positives: Great food and service but… Negatives: I don’t drink beer and this is a microbrewery so I am not qualified to review them on this particular trait. Having said that because the place is always packed and the wait times can be a little long, along with the higher than average pricing, it is not one of my top spots to continuously go back to and eat. The beer drinkers in my life love the place and I do not hear any bad experiences, it simply is not my cup of tea! ***8/16/19*** Had lunch here again with some business associates who decided this is where they wanted to go. I hold true to my earlier review when I ate here earlier in the Spring. The food is good (today I had the turkey wrap with baked beans as my side), they had salads – but in my opinion they have an overpriced menu. A negative I forgot to mention earlier is the parking and location. Trying to find a spot to park during the middle of the day is a nightmare; they have about 15 parking spots, otherwise you are parking at meters or further away (too much of a hassle for a place that is just a bit above average for me). I would come back but not at the top of my go-to spots in Springfield.

67 Biltmore Downtown Eatery + Catering Menu with Prices 67 Biltmore Ave, Asheville

67 Biltmore is my favorite place in town for catering. They have a brick and mortar location downtown Asheville which is beautiful and has a great menu but really, their catering is A+! They cater the lunches at my work regularly and every single meal is fresh, healthy and absolutely delicious. They really have a knack for creating food with rich, complex flavors while creating a healthy meal that truly satisfies hunger and is nourishing. Some of my favorite things that they make are the pesto chicken salad, their sweet potato salad, the kale salad (definitely my favorite!), white bean and arugula salad and sesame peanut pasta salad. They also offer cheese and meat platters, slaws, potato salads, bean salads, fruit bowls and wraps. Emily and Adam are so awesome and all of the other staff that I’ve had interactions with have been really friendly as well. Great place, I highly recommend for anyone looking for some awesome catering!

Chicken Salad Chick – Menu with Prices – 3341 Regent Blvd Suite 100 Suite 100, Irving

WHAT WE ORDERED: They have several different types of chicken salad flavors here and all of the ones I tried off of the menu were excellent. It just depends on your personal taste. Below are my favorites: – Lauryn’s Lemon Basil: For all you lemon lovers. 4/5 – Cranberry Kelli: This one was my mom’s favorite! It’s a good one for people who like to mix savory and sweet. 4/5 – Jalapeno Holly: The one to pick if you want a kick of spice! It’s not super spicy though just FYI for all you spicy lovers. 4/5 – Curry Chicken Salad: This was MY FAVORITE! Chicken salad was always one of my favorite quick lunches to make. I remember a time when I tried to get “creative” with my chicken salads and mixing in curry powder and loved it. So of course I would love this new flavor! 4/5 SERVING: – Chicken Salads – Salads – Sandwiches – They even have packaged chicken salads for you to take home and make future sandwiches or salads WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO ORDERING NEXT – Trying the chicken salads again PARKING: Parking lot in front

Top That Grille II Menu with Prices 1371 Bessemer Rd, Birmingham

This is the hood. I am always down for where the locals like to eat. This is that place, the service is friendly freshly prepared soul food at its finest. You get a meal and a variety of kool-aid to wash it down. 30 bucks I ordered a 10pc lemon Pepper, chef salad, lg. banana puddin and a Hulk (boo-berry/lemon kool-aid). The wings are dry rub w/ fries they were flavorful and well done. The salad was made with shredded iceberg lettuce, and typical chef toppings. *rant* iceberg has NO NUTRITIONAL VALUE!!! Please stop using it or at least incorporate some natural dark greens into your salads. *end rant* I say that to say I could just eat some deli meat for 9 bucks. There is a hot line meat and two sides for a fair 9. But hey it’s a neighborhood fave. I would go again.

Lou’s Bar and Grill – Papago Golf Course – Menu with Prices – 5595 E Karsten Way, Phoenix

I REALLY love the ambiance of this place, and I wanted to like the food so that this could be a go-to place of mine. But sadly, both the food and service were lacking. We bussed our own table after our empty glasses and appetizer dishes piled up and weren’t picked up. We also had to go to the bar to get water for the table. Service was SLOW. But I still could have overlooked the poor service if the food had been decent. The burger was all bun, with a tiny, thin burger that you could barely find or taste. The fries were cold, and were an extremely stingy portion. The fish and chips weren’t any better. The fish was all batter. Very hard to find any fish in there! Long after the meal was over, no one cleared our plates. Again……one of the guys in our party got up to buss the table. I’m not sure this place will succeed if the food/service doesn’t improve. My advice would be to go for a happy hour drink, and go elsewhere for food! Also, like another review stated, the server slapped a 20% gratuity on our table of six, and never stated that when she dropped off the check. Kind of shady, but whatever. This gratuity was waaaaay out of line for the poor service we received. I have no problem tipping 20% or more when it is warranted. I can’t help but wonder if our server slacked on our table because she knew she was getting 20% whether she hustled or not.

Chef’s Catering & Events – Menu with Prices – 1840 N Tustin St C, Orange

Chef’s catering is located in a small strip mall in Orange. They specialize in catering for events and companies. However on Sundays, they are open from 10am to 3pm for brunch. Every week the brunch theme changes. On the 2 occasions that I visited, they had Mediterranean one week, and a French theme the other. They have an incredible variety of breakfast and lunch items, including made to order omelettes, pancakes, waffles, and bacon (beef). All their food is halal and freshly prepared. Brunch is $20 and comes with a complimentary glass of apple cider. There is an additional charge for drinks. The menus for the times I visited consisted of the following: MEDITERRANEAN ============================== Breakfast Section- Egyptian Shakshouka (Poached Egg in Tomato Sauce), Ful Medames, Egyptian Falafel, Spinach Fatayer, Assorted Freshly Baked Goods, Omelets, Waffles, & Pancakes Made to Order Salads & Starters- Arabic Green Salad, Hummus, Tabbouleh, Baba Ghanoush, Pita Chips â??â??-Entrée- â??â??Chicken Shawarma, Arabic Beef Kibbeh, Herb Roasted Tri-Tips, Mediterranean Fish w/Fresh Tomatoes, Onions, and Olives, Macaroni Béchamel, Angel Hair Rice, Moussaka Dessert Section Fresh Fruit Display, Eid Kahk, Baklava, Konafa, Assorted Petit Fours FRENCH: ================================ -Breakfast French Quiche Florentine, French Toast Soufflé, French Potato Croquettes, Freshly Baked Goods, French Crepes, Omelets, Waffles, Pancakes | Made to Order â??â??â??â??â??â??-Salads & Starters- French Green Salad w/Figs and Pecans, French Potato Salad, French Green Bean Salad w/Tuna, French Baguettes and Butter â??â??-Entrée- French Chicken Puffs, French Tri-Tips Champignon, French Tilapia Meuniere, Potatoes Au Gratin, Fresh Summer Vegetables -Dessert Fresh Fruit Display, French Macrons, French Chocolate Cups, French Crème Brûlée, French Ã?clair, Mango Mousse ;================================= Service was outstanding and the owners of the establishment came out and met with guests. While the food here isn’t the best Mediterranean or best French food out there, it tastes great and the variety that is available is on par with many of the fancy Las Vegas buffets. Overall this is an incredible value at $20, and I would definitely be back to try some of their other buffet themes. The schedule for the buffet themes are listed on their website, along with the menu of the items being served.
